Antique Shopping and then back to my sewing room!

While Rebecca and Karn were here, we did have to make a trip to a fun Antique Shop about 25 miles from here… I was so busy looking at things that I almost forgot to bring you along… but I saved the day with some pictures… I hope you find something in my pictures that brings back a fun memory for you! :o)

If you click on my pictures, they will enlarge.

Let’s start off with a Heidi Plusczok doll… she was $70, I think…

…More dolls…

Did you find something you used to have, or something you “wanted” to have?

I’m working in my sewing room, but I’ll see you tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne

Just read all the comments on yesterday’s blog, and I’m a little jealous. It seems all (or at least most) of you had lovely sunny weather, while out here in the Seattle area it was as usual–rainy, gloomy, dreary, cold (48 was our high) and breezy!!

Wow, Jeanne, that must be quite a good-sized antique store–it seems they had a Lot of items! I noticed the Tweety cookie jar–such fun, but no space for it, I’m afraid And in one picture there was a pink bank/cash register. My mom (born in 1920) had one like it in dark green, I think, and she said it was the kind where it “counted” your coins as you put them in. It had to get to a certain amount (maybe $5 or $10–in those days, that was quite a bit of money for a kid to have). She said her dad was out of work (Depression, and jobs were scarce) and her mom was ill a lot. They needed money for medicine, I think (or possibly groceries, I don’t recall now), and she let her dad break into the bank (no key–you were supposed to wait!) to use what she had managed to save. It never worked quite right after that, she said, but she kept it for years. I have no idea where it is now–mom’s been gone 16 years, and dad, 18, so if she didn’t get rid of it on one of their moves, it got sold in the estate sale, or my brother has it.

You said, “while Rebecca and Karn were here”, so I suppose they have gone back home now? I’m glad you had a few days with them, and finally your Christmas!!

What a lot to look over there, Jeanne! However, whwn I click onto the pictures they don’t get bigger. Actually, the pictures you have in the beginning are bigger than when I click onto them, so it is hard to see what is all in there! What caught my eye is the cookie jars in the picture with the little piano. I remember my grandmother having one with a fat, little chef or something like that, but it is hazy now in my mind.

Those Kewpie dolls are darling! I have a few myself, and went to Rose O’Neill’s museum near Branson, MO. which was so interesting!

So you are finished with Christmas AND Easter now, like the rest of us! Can’t wait to see what is ocming from your sewing room, unless you are still putting away things! 🙂

Well, that was fun. Would so love to poke around in that collective. I did see some ruby red glass that looked interesting and some milk glass as well. The Easter display case was wonderful. Wish I had some vintage things from all holidays to display. 🙂
I wonder what Jeanne is cooking up in her sewing room? A wonderful surprise I’m sure.
Sorry about the dreary weather, Charlotte, as even yesterday was sunny and warm down here. Didn’t have to turn on the heat, and I was back to pulling blackberry in the backyard. Lots more to go though. 🙂

  4. A real antique store…so often now they are part craft and collectibles. I guess when you have been married 57 years many of your things are in the antique stores🫣😲
The Heidi Pluzacek (sp?) doll is one that looks like a little girl I know…
And the detail on her dress is so interesting…the rows of ribbon and tiny check fabric detail are so typical of her designs.
    Love the kewpies too.
Glad you had a fun visit and yes we are all wondering what will pop out of your sewing room today.🤔

  5. Yes, add my town to the list of sunny weather. All of Holy Week was sunny and Easter was a nice temperature as sometimes it can be cold or even snow. Actually winter was much sunnier than usual which was wonderful.
That antique store looks like a lot of fun. I love going through antique stores. We still have three of our four and they each have a little different mix. Have to come back a peruse the photos more closely later. Wonder what lucky doll is up next.

What a delightful antique store journey! I love all the pictures and mine did enlarge so I got to really browse. We have antique stores all around us here but we never seem to visit them anymore. David and I used to spend our anniversary in Bellville at a B&B that was still furnished like it was in the late 1800s when it was a nice hotel that was often visited by wealthy men traveling for business. Bellville was a railroad and agricultural center and is the county seat for Austin County so there was always a lot going on there. We used to visit all the antique stores around the square while we were at the B&B. They are still there but sadly the B&B was sold a few years ago and is now home to modern businesses.

So glad you had a wonderful time with Rebecca and Karn. I know you were sad to see them leave. My daughter and her family will be moving to Maine in July. That’s a year earlier than anticipated but they feel the need to get on with their life and plans. I thought it might be to get Anderson settled before he starts kindergarten, but they have decided to homeschool so it’s about getting everyone settled. When she and I were on a duo call a couple weeks ago we were talking about us visiting at some point. She knows I love Maine and would love to visit again, especially when they will be there. I don’t like to fly any longer, and David no longer wants to drive that far so I guess I will do the Dramamine bit and agree to fly.

Our sun is still trying to shine but the clouds keep interfering so it’s now you see it now you don’t. But David and Sean are doing outside work so having it overcast is working well for them.
