You’ll see why I picked this doll for “Bunny in my Pocket!”

REMINDER: tonight is the night for the end of the Ruby Red Fashion Friends,”Vibrant in Violets” auction to end… I hope you’ve seen it by now, but if not, you can click on the picture at the right side bar or click HERE.

Again, I’m sorry, but no comments from me again today… I’ve got too many irons in the fire the rest of the week… I’m trying to finish up my books so we can get our taxes done… I’m working on the table decorations, I picked up the stuff to make the food I’m taking, I worked on the Bunny dress for a little while, and a few other things… I’ll get it done… but I may have to just show a slide show on Friday and possibly Saturday…

I have one of my dolls who LOVES purple… in fact her debut dress was purple…

Doesn’t she wear purple tones well?

So when it came to who would model “Bunny in my Pocket,” it seemed like a no-brainer… Lian was happy to!

My pictures need some work in the “lighting” department, but I think you can see how it “sort of” looks… It’s much too bright of a print, to not get the lighting right… I will….

This is what I have finished so far… I hope you like it…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Hooray! I was right!! Lian get this one! (She’s a favorite of mine, anyway.) Well, she gets it for a while, anyway–but she knows the drill.

I got to thinking the pocket might be on a pinafore to go over the dress, but this fabric is so pretty, I don’t think it really needs a pinafore. (And, as a huge purple fan, I loved the fashion show of all her purple and lavender outfits!!)

I took Ron for his assessment at the respite care place today, and then they took us to see “his” apartment. HE LIKES IT!! He checks in on Monday, and stays for 14 days. I’ll be there every day except the days I’m at Expo.

Charlotte, I’m so glad Ron is feeling good about going into respite care. That will make it so much easier for you to enjoy your time at Expo and in your sewing room. I’ve got a question you might be able to answer because I think you said you have knowledge of the Lutterloh Golden Rule. The pattern pieces for extrapolation are thumb nails. Several of the thumb nails are for children’s clothing kind of in the style of European children’s clothing. I was wondering if using the children’s patterns and measuring a doll you might also use their patterns for doll clothes. Your thoughts?

        Hi Barbara,
Unfortunately, I’m not the one who is familiar with the Lutterloh system, other than just having heard about it. However, as far as taking a child’s pattern and adapting it for a doll, I would think that, as long as the doll is proportioned like a child (some dolls are not), I think you could probably reduce the pattern piece sizes until you get something close to fitting your particular doll You might start the process with a smaller garment, like a pair of shorts–reduce the pattern and then make up a sample and see how it fits the doll. You may have to play a bit with what percentage to start with–reduce one pattern piece a certain percentage and try it against the doll to see if you’re getting close. Be sure to write down the percentage by which you reduced it, too, so you’ll have a starting point for next time!

    2. Hi Charlotte, so glad Ron likes the respite care place. You will both feel happy during his stay there.

Well, aren:t we on a “purple kick” now, Jeanne! I too, love the purple/lavender color, and it is my favorite for spring, paired with yellow for Easter, or green for anytime! What darling dresses you have made for Lian! I see one of them is almost the same as the one up for auction ending tonight, with the criss-cross stitching and pearls! I certainly don’t remember that one, but you have made so many dresses, it gets me dizzy just thinking about all of them!

I love that cute bunny peeking out of her pocket! Can’t wait to see what else is in store for Lian…..for a little while, before a little “someone else” gets it!

Charlotte, how nice that Ron likes the respite care place! Now YOU can enjoy yourself without worrying about him not being happy!

So, I’m curious about how close the fit from Lian’s dress would be for a RRFF Siblie? Have you tried an outfit on one? I think that I heard that they wear the same size shoes as well. ๐Ÿ™‚
So, it was below 30 last night and rain coming in this afternoon. No snow here, but yes in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Burr. ๐Ÿ™‚
And my latest package from Ruby Red is stuck in LA customs. It’s been 5 days. However, I do have a package from Spain, set to arrive some time this afternoon. I’m sure old Eagle Eye, other person, will be first to pounce on it. I haven’t been very lucky lately.

    1. Good luck, Joy. Maybe you would like to try the advice I gave to Sally a few days ago and make a new recipe requiring an exotic ingredient. You can send other person to the store in search of it AFTER you are well into the recipe which means that you can’t leave. ๐Ÿ™‚ One that requires a double boiler and mixer would be the best bet.

Perhaps Joy could send him for some “warmed brandy”. A friend of mine was once making a recipe calling for warmed brandy. She went to a half dozen liquor stores looking for warmed brandy when finally, obviously at the last one she visited, someone was kind enough to tell her she would have to warm the brandy herself. Most likely the other stores were laughing themselves silly and telling all their friends about this weird lady who thought there was such a thing as warmed brandy. Or maybe she should send him for some tea-dyed elastic. We used to have to tea dye elastic to add to dance costumes because it didn’t show. But today he could probably find that very quickly because they actually do have such a thing to buy these days.

What a wonderful fashion show. So many beautiful outfits each with its own special feature. I love them all. The way you positioned the fabric on Lian’s debut dress is pretty awesome. You accentuated all the best features of the fabric. I’m definitely a fan of purple and Linda mentioned purple and yellow. I love those colors together. Lilacs and daffodils were always some of the first flowers to bloom in the spring in PA so those colors always spell spring has come to me.

I was messaging Kathy of Kathy Anne Designs and she has ordered a Mini Sara. She said she couldn’t resist. When she arrives Kathy will be doing patterns for her. She asked me what I suggested she do first. I looked at some of the patterns for the 8″ Caring for Baby and picked out the dress with the pinafore figuring since she comes in jeans she will need a dress and it would be easy for Kathy to make the adjustments needed. It’s a really cute pattern and Kathy said she will start with that one once Mini Sara arrives. She also just did the cutest blouse and skirt pattern for the Siblies. I told her I needed a basic blouse to go under a jumper. Every other pattern I have was too fancy to go underneath and nothing would lend itself easily to the style I was actually looking for. She had done a basic blouse for other dolls that I liked so she went with that style and included long sleeves as well as short. But then, since she had done another pattern with pants, she decided a skirt would be in order. The skirt has straps and I think it would look cute pleated also. I probably should take a pattern drafting class but being ignorant in that area has gained me a lot of friends and those who are proficient in that area a good customer.

Not that I need more fabric and I don’t know if others have happened upon this amazing Etsy shop but the shop is called teatimefabricpanels (tea time fabric panels). It’s owned by two women. They do panels for 18″ and 14.5″ dolls and the panels are amazing. Have to be seen to appreciate. The pattern pieces are printed on the panels with the fabric design on the pieces. Construction looks to be pretty straight forward. I just had to give the idea a try, so I bought two of the “close out” panels for my Wellies. One of the outfits has a purple theme and the other a pink theme. They look like tap costumes to me and I’m still planning a dance recital photo shoot so I thought I’d give them a try. But they do Halloween costumes, play clothes and their Christmas dresses are absolutely amazing. They also have some panels on sale now. I think they normally cost $19.50 for the 14.5″. A little more for the 18″. The sale price for the 14.5″ was $16.65 and the close out prices on the two I bought were $12.50.

Joy, good luck with your upcoming dolly retrieval. Can’t wait to hear the arrival details.

  5. Aha, I see that Freida’s dress is a tweaked remake of one that Lian wore. It also had the lattice design in the bodice. Some could potential get matching dresses.
Lian wears purple well. I loved the dress in the second photo when you were making it.

Bunny in my Pocket is very cute. The squared neckline is perfect. I love squared necklines.

  6. Honestly, isnโ€™t that Liam the sweetest ? She has so much personality and of course looks like a million dollars in lavender or purple.๐Ÿ˜Š what a lovely group of pics.
Hope all your plans work out for the rest of the week Jeanne. At least it isnโ€™t another funeral you have to do๐Ÿฅน
Ron sure has a good attitude about his two weeks and I hope you can really relax and have fun at the doll gathering Charlotte. Is the bath remodel going to happen?
