I didn’t want you to think I was ignoring the death of Queen Elizabeth, but I’m not sure what is the appropriate thing to say… I am very sorry for those who loved her as their queen and will miss her terribly… She seemed like a sweet grandmotherly type to me… and I always took notice when she came out in the public, seeing her in her matching suits and hats and gloves… She seemed quite stylish to me!
When Rebecca came home to see us, she had a bag of goodies she found while she was out shopping… I thought I’d share those with you today… I don’t know what any of them go with or what set they belong to, but someone on here might know…
Yes, Paula and Joy, that embroidered fabric underneath the spools of trim was included with her stash of things to me… It was a curtain valance but I might be able to use it for something!
First up is this hot pink backpack… I found it by Googling it, but don’t know if it was actually American Girl or not. I don’t think so…
But what was inside was definitely American Girl size items, and I did see it when I enlarged my pictures, on the side of the baggage/claim check tickets, it said American Girl, 2012…
There was money, Euro dollars, postcards, a map of London and Paris, passes, and lots more… just look… (click the picture to see it larger.)
I loved the backs of the postcards…
This was inside the American Girl magazine…
The maps unfold just like a real map we would use today…
Next was a leopard “wine bottle cover” (I think) but it might make a cute capelet for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends… I laid it on Violette so show you the size…
There was this pink backpack… with one strap, so I’m not exactly sure it fits the AG dolls…
There were also some party packs that I’m thinking may have been used for a party… I think it was like a favor to be given to the girls when they left the party, but not sure… I think they make the necklaces on the front… The cardstock pieces I’m not sure of…
There was a silver pair of shoes for the AG dolls and a silver purse…they’re cute…
She found one tiny little coat, hat and muff, that might work for Navi or Twinkle Bailey…
Rebecca thought I might be able to do something with this real mink stole (collar)
I think these doll hats are ACTUALLY doggie costume hats, but not positive… They are a little small on the AG dolls but might fit the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls… The cowgirl hat is cute… not too fond of the Sombrero’s curved up brim…
She saw this little girl’s green plaid tulle skirt or maybe tutu, and thought I might make some green slips from it… there is a lot of layers and fabric to make LOTS of slips if I want green ones… :o)
She was so excited to share all those things with me… Anyone have a favorite from the bunch?
Well, my sisters and Cindy’s hubby will be here for a few days and I am looking forward to spending time with them…
I’ll try to keep things going on here, but will see you on Monday! Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings, Jeanne
First of all, my condolences to those who have lost their queen. I did enjoy the slide show of her lovely fashions thru the years (I think it was Marilyn who shared that link?). She was usually so elegantly clothed, and even in casual clothing, she did have a certain flair about her.
My, what a lot of goodies Rebecca found for you, Jeanne! I don’t recognize anything but I think those cardstock pieces might have been placemats for the dolls, or possibly place cards for a girls’ party?
That plaid tulle is wonderful! I’m assuming it’s a fairly good-sized piece, so you could get several petticoats out of it? When we were square dancing, lots of us ladies had petticoats in every color of the rainbow–and, yes, I had a kelly green one!! (Also hot pink, yellow, lavender, metallic silver, pastel rainbow-edged, r/w/b edged…..) Such fun.
I am recuperating from my big day yesterday. Not just the plumber, but having to empty the entire hall closet (and then put everything back again) about wiped me out!! I slept well last night and had at least one nap today!!
Yes, Queen Elizabeth was truly a queen in the best sense of the word! What other woman was more “queenly” and regal than she was? She will be missed!
You certaily have a lot of fun things for AG dolls, Jeanne! Other than the things branded American Girl, I do not recognize anything. I know Michael’s had lots of kits from AG and that could be what those craft items were from. The backpacks draw a blank.
The fur stoles look fun! That green tulle skirt, well, it looks a lot like a tree skirt from Hobby Lobby, that actually was for a miniature Christmas tree, that I bought, thinking it would be a good Halloween costume for one of my dolls! I really love the green plaid!
You mentioned yesterday, Charlotte, that the plumber had spent 7 hours at your house? I can’t imagine what your bill must be! At least things are working now!
Enjoy your time with your sisters, Jeanne!
The bill was plenty high, believe me, Linda! Thank heavens for a healthy savings account (including some inheritance from my folks), we really didn’t have to worry about the cost, once we got over the shock!! I’m sure daddy would have been pleased that the money went for something truly necessary!! (It also helps that we live a fairly simple lifestyle, with modest tastes in things like cars–Ron’s is 14 years old and mine is 10!)
Such interesting things. I can’t identify any of them myself so I’ll be waiting to see if anyone else can. I love the fur stole and the wine bottle cover would make a great cape. The green skirt (tree or otherwise) was a great find. Can’t wait to see what you do with all that. How very thoughtful of Rebecca to keep you in her thoughts as she does. Out of sight, out of mind definitely does not fit her. More like absence makes the heart grow fonder. You are truly blessed.
During months of no rain there was no need to mow. Nothing was growing, including the weeds thankfully. But since we had a few weeks of pretty rainy days mowing seems almost a twice a week thing now. Jason does our mowing and weedeating so I know he’s hoping for fall to commence. I personally love seeing all the green but then I’m not doing the mowing these days.
Have a great time with your sisters and their hubbies. I love hearing of your good times.
Sincere condolences to Anne and everyone else who is sad about Queen Elizabeth II. I always enjoyed seeing her out in public and having English heritage felt the connection. My mom remembers her as Princess Elizabeth and watched her coronation. I’ve seen all of her Jubilees. I always loved her fashion sense. I am a great fan of hats and gloves. wish they’d come back.
Enjoy you time with your sisters, Jeanne.
Dear Jeanne, what nice finds! I like the tiny coat set. Some little dolly will be nice and warm this winter.
Have loved watching all the programs about QueenElizabeth…she was a doll lover too🤗 There we’re so many pictures of her and her sister with their dolls. When I saw the mink stole and the doll modeling it she looked like Queen Elizabeth as a young woman. Maybe make her a pretty matching coat and hat in honor of the Queen☺️
Have fun with your sisters🥹😍
We have been lucky to have had the queen for so many years. Even other person remembers her coronation televised in black & white when he was 6 or 7. I don’t believe that I have ever seen such dedication to her job and country. Her memory will carry on.
The fur collars remind me that there are a few stoles around here. From mother and grandmother. I can be wrong, but isn’t it illegal to sell anything made from real fur now? Love the green plaid skirt or whatever it is. I think it would make a wonderful dolly skirt that could be worn for Christmas with a cute top or for St. Patrick’s Day as well. Fun.
Jeanne, have a wonderful visit with your sisters. 🙂
