Are you serious? Another Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll romper?

Well, here’s the thing, if you were a seamstress you might understand the need to get it right… and after 5 revisions, it almost is! The only way to try out a new revision on a pattern is to make it again and see if it works… and that’s just what I’ve been doing each time I make another romper. I think this is my 5th one and it’s almost there.

I want to be able to cut out the pieces and know each piece will fit exactly the way it should with the piece it is sewn to…. no trimming off the edges, no guessing… “did I put a 1/2″ hem in that or a 1/4” hem? I want each piece to fit together just like a puzzle does… I have also been taking notes as I have been putting them together, to see what is the most streamlined and efficient way to make it. I’ve improved on that part too… why make it complicated when you can make it a more simple way?

I have also eliminated 4 pieces from the first one I made… I originally had 9 pieces and I’m down to 5 pieces now and one piece used as a guide for the stitching on the pocket.

Anyway, today I sold a slip from my Etsy shop that Rozen had been modeling and when I was taking it off her and packaging it up for the lady who bought it, Rozen asked me if she could have a turn at modeling one of the rompers I was making. She was actually my first model back last July, with a denim blue one… (You can see it HERE.) Anyway, I caved and said she could model the next one… well, she already had the fabric picked out and was looking through my buttons, so I figured I better get started…

Want to see what I got done today?

I believe Rozen is one of the prettiest dolls ever made. She is just gorgeous in person! :o)

I gathered up all my pieces I’ve been revising… each pile represents more revisions…

Well, stay tuned to see what else comes with this set… :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

So sorry 😢 that wasn’t my whole comment ignore everything after dolls!

I have been sick 🤒 with a double ear 👂 infection since a tiny bit after my birthday 🥳 that is why I have not be on to post. I have heard almost nothing in weeks with ear drops 💧 and cotton ball stuffed into my ears! I felt like I should have learned more sign language when I had the chance! Anyway, Jeanne, I know I have only been on here a short time but what you said in your post was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! It almost brought a tear to my eye. I know these days we are supposed to beware of the Internet and people we meet on it but I know I have only been on this blog for a short time but I feel like I have made a few friends and I hope to make more!

What a cute romper, Jeanne! You have so much patience to get things “just right”! You are among the best of seamstresses, no holds barred!

I love the way the romper flares out on the sides, to make it look more feminine. The pattern and color is just great and this will be good for many different tops and colors to go with it. I’m glad that you are now doing more playclothes to give their wardrobes versatility, so there are more options in dressing the dolls..Yes, Rozen is a very pretty doll!

Thank you, Lauren for liking my photos, and yes, please send yours to Jeanne!

Lauren, I too, ended my comment before I was finished! What a I wanted to say was I’m sorry you have been under the weather, and hope things are getting better for you!

Rozen was my introduction to RRFF dolls, right here on Jeanne’s blog. I was delighted to find dolls I had never heard of and started reading daily. That romper fits her to a T. You are getting better with the fit. The fabrics are always nice.

My missing Little Darling finally arrived after a 3 week tour of the tri state area. Another doll that I met here for the first time. Never move after you have ordered a Little Darling!

Lauren I hope you are on the mend soon. Charlotte and Joy happy to here that relief is on the way for the rest of us. Those cooler temps have to move east sometime, right?

So glad to hear your LD arrived safely. I’m sure she has great stories to tell. 🙂

Jeanne, I completely understand the revisions thing! I do that on some of my patterns, too. It’s so important to take notes of the changes you make, IN WRITING, because, of course, despite our best intentions we will surely Not remember it 6 months–or even 6 weeks–down the line!

This new romper is very cute, and I think Rosen picked a good fabric. I’ll be waiting to see what comes next!

We actually had a “normal” summer day today–77 outside. I even got into my sewing room, and my new top is almost done except for hems at sleeves and lower edge. I also got three pieces of fabric (each a minimum of two yards) ironed; they are fabrics I will be using for summer nighties. It’s so much nicer to cut things out if the fabrics have been ironed. Of course, I do Always prewash my washable fabrics before I ever cut anything out. I don’t want any surprises!!

Oh yes, now this one seems to fit Rosen. I like how the top is higher on the chest and the bottom doesn’t look crotchey. Love the navy and the topstitching. This will be so cute for any upcoming activity pared with a sweet button up blouse. 🙂
The Russian RRFF doll shop has come out with an absolutely adorable doll named Talia. The dolls apparently sold out in a half hour. I wish one as cute would become available here in the future. 🙂 Not that any more dolls need to make an appearance here.
Hope Lauren’s doctor can give her a medication that works for her ear infection. Sounds awful.
Can’t believe that it’s Aug. 3rd already. School starting soon. Leaves coming off some trees. Definitely time for some fall look outfits, and here I am working on a summer swimsuit. Crazy.

  6. Marilyn in Colorado

The last days of summer and the first days of fall are definitely the best times for these outfits. This is the very best time to work on this pattern. I wonder what it would look like in AG size.

I forgot to say thanks for the fringed flower on Freida’s hat. Each of these outfits is different and all are special. I’ll love seeing what Rosen inspires.

  7. Goodness this week is HOT! The weather people said it would be but oftentimes over do it….not this time. Thank god for AC
Jeanne that romper is just darling. What a beautiful blue😉Yes the crotchety area is better and love the fullness and the
Dropped waist in the back is super cute…my only comment is the bib is too long by about 1/4 inch . The blouse you make with the attached panty is brilliant. Will be fun to see what you come up with .

Anne, just finished reading yesterday’s post. I love quilts and would love some photos. I am sure they were worth more than what was paid. Hand crafted quilts are very expensive in the states. It sounds beautiful in New Zealand. I guess that lush vegetation requires much rainfall and you learn how to live with it.

    1. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

Hi Debbie, The high rainfall and lush vegetation certainly is very true of the West Coast but here on the east it is usually much dryer, most of the rain falls on the other side of the mountains. What we have had this year is incredibly unusual for us

  9. I’m late today! Just wanted to say, this romper is just as cute as the others. Rosen, who is beautiful anyway, looks great in it. I wonder what else you’ll plan for this outfit.
Lauren, hope you feel better and can hear soon. My husband went through that in June. He could not hear anything either. One ear first, then that went away only to do the same to his other ear.

Joy, I’ve got to check out the new doll you mentioned. Even though I’ve done getting new girls, still it’s exciting to see the new ones.
Hope the heat goes away before Christmas!
