JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER:
Rebecca’s “Summer Fun in 1864” aqua/minty Civil War dress set ends this evening on Ebay! You don’t want to miss out on this one! If you want to check it out, click the picture of it on the right side bar, or you can click HERE and see it.
Well, well, well, our very own Paula guessed pretty closely what I had planned for Stella’s romper set. As I read her comments this afternoon, it was like she had almost read my mind. My pictures were taken and the storyline was written and she was pretty close! Then Laura added a few things to go right along with Paula’s idea… Great detective work, ladies! If you want to find out what Stella ended up doing in her camouflage romper, please check out my listing on Ebay… you can click on the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE.
Oh and here is a BONUS for the subscribers of my blog. If one of my readers wins this romper set, I will include something I’ve made from that little “Born to be Wild” patch… but you’ll have to wait to see what it is! (It’s NOT sewn on in this picture, just showing you!)
Here are a few teasers… before you head to the listing…
If you want to see how she looked from the back… and get your first laugh of the day in, take a look… I used shish kabob skewers and put them up the back of her romper, then stuck them in the ground and tried to hide her legs in front of them… It worked pretty well…
The little camera actually says it has sound and flashes… it runs off a non-rechargable battery so I didn’t pull the plastic tab but will let the winner check it out…
Then you can check out these pictures she took as she wandered in the woods.
First she saw a black crow…
Then she saw some wild turkeys…
She almost laughed out loud when she saw this little guy…
This must be one VERY BUSY Pileated Woodpecker….
Nap time for these 2 babies…
As Stella wandered down by the lake, she saw the most glorious sight up in the sky… she steadied her camera and captured him in full flight!
I’m sure her teacher will give her an A+ for all the work she did! She was out in the heat for hours gathering up these photos! :o)
Thanks everyone,
Blessings, Jeanne
That camera is the perfect accessory for Stella’s outfit, Jeanne, and she blends in with the surroundings just fine. She got some really good pictures, too!
Laura, I had to laugh at your comment about Stella being on the hunt for Luca!!
Update: I talked to my brother today and he’s going to do some checking. We are thinking maybe just do the bathroom sink drain and the water to the kitchen for now, as those are the most needy spots. As Paul said, how much longer are you really going to live in that house, with all those stairs that you both have trouble with? I’m glad he called because he knows a lot about such things. Ron does, too, or did, but his memory loss (caused by partial seizures) has made it difficult for him to “make sense” sometimes. He knows what he knows, and what he wants to say, but it doesn’t always come out as he wants it to!
Now to clarify something else: I think that might be Barbara McCall in the monkey dress, not Linda. They are both blond, but Barbara is the same size as Betsy (14″), while Linda is only 10″ tall. Since the Siblie is 12″ tall, and the dress looks a little shorter on the blonde doll, I’m assuming she’s Barbara.
Kathie, our JoAnn’s has had Liberty fabric for a couple of months now. I think they may have been “testing the waters” in different areas, to see how well it would sell. (Well, of Course I bought some! For ME!! It’s gorgeous stuff.)
Glad to hear your brother had some thoughts on the plumbing. Were you able to read my post yesterday on the plumbing fiasco my husband’s parents ran into? Hope you get water going soon.
Hi Charlotte, Thanks, that was my witty comment for the day. i hope your plumbing problem is fixed soon.
Stella has certainly found her “calling” as a photographer! What a darling accessory the camera is, and perfect for that outfit, so you can make a cute little story about it, Jeanne! Wow, does she have skills! She certainly does blend in with the greenery and maybe that’s why she can get those fabulous shots!
I’m not a RRFF collector, but have any of you seen the new Siblie, “Evangeline”? So pretty in that peach colored dress, and only $99! Of course, all the money in the world won’t be enough if you don’t order early, since there will only be 150 worldwide. They will be sold here in St. Louis at the UFDC convention before her official release. Wish I was going!
Oh, I wish you were going to the convention too, because I’d have you buy Evangeline for me. 🙂 I’m pretty sure they will sell out at the convention, but you never know. 🙂
Also, hope you didn’t get flooded out with the big storm. Any damage?
Hi Linda,
Guess what….There is a day that you can attend the Convention Salesroom😉 I’ve gone to the Convention a few times and I think it is Thursday the sales room is open to the public. It could be different this year. Go to the UFDC website …all the info is there.
Perfect — the camo camouflages our camera girl. Smart thinking. Now, which came first, the camo or the camera?
HI Marilyn,
Actually… the camera came first… I had it laying on my side table, trying to be inspired and when I was making the camo set, I WAS! :o)
Thanks,
blessings, Jeanne
Good luck with your auctions! Those are two winning looks, something for the history buff and something for fashionista.
Charlotte, good advice from your brother. Getting the plumbing in working order sounds like top priority.
Linda, I wish I was going too! I think you must not have experienced any flooding yesterday as you are up to date on the new Siblie and the convention. Stay dry and cool!
I love that Betsy series from Robert Tonner. I have wanted one for several years but worry about the condition of their bands. I know the Robin Woods from the same era did not fare so well.
Debbie, I live in South County, and most of the flooding was in the northern areas. Rest assured though, we had rain, and plenty of it!
Glad to hear that your location kept you out of those flood waters.
Love Jeanne’s skewer technique to help Stella stand up in the grass. Good job!
Ended up going to Joann’s yesterday and found some scrapbook paper for the surfboard I’ve been working on and also picked up some foam core board for the proposed pool. All of the dollies are excited that I might actually get that pool underway. Also found some very cute little prints to make a couple of swimsuits. Egads, another project. 🙂 Maybe Jeanne will make a swimsuit for one of her dollies. I’d love to see that. 🙂
Great story and great outfit! I thought of the skewer idea for whenever I get around to doing my dance recital photo shoot. I plan on using Styrofoam for the floor of the stage and will find a “flooring” that I can poke holes through that doesn’t show the holes. Maybe like brown tulle or something. Any ideas anyone?
I have a dilemma and wonder if any of my sofa sisters can help me out. When Sean and Jason were little we bought them these dolls called “Huddles”. They are the NFL mascots done really cute. They are now Skyy’s. He showed up last Friday with the doll in one hand and the face covering in the other. I assumed the faces were one piece, but it turns out the “face” part of the head is like a lightweight felt and the facial features are a molded part of the head. I will need to work with small areas like the nose, mouth and eyes to get it formed to the mold and the rest of the face will be pretty easy. The dilemma is I have so little knowledge of adhesives. I need something that will go on smoothly and not be visible under the fabric. I tried searching the internet to see if anyone had ever had to fix one of these dolls but could find nothing that helped. If anyone can give me some ideas on this, I would be over the moon with appreciation.
My new fridge is in the kitchen and all set up. It was an arduous task and they finally figured out the door on the breezeway was the widest of the doors, but they still had to take the doors off the refrigerator. Switching the items from the old to the new fridge totally wore me out and hubby keeps talking about someday moving. I’m becoming less keen on that with each passing year. The hose problem was easily fixed and the connectors were the same so all is well on that.
Hi Barbara, there might be a good choice in one of these. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbXDfwX43OQ
I’ve bought Aleene’s of various kinds and Gorilla glue in the past. The Visbella one looks really neat.
For your flooring my first thought was dark brown burlap. It might pass for a wooden floor and has holes already.
Thank you so much, Laura. I will check out the link. I used to be familiar with some of the Aleene’s glues but forgot about them. Great idea about the burlap. I may even have some of that. You’ve made my day.
For the flooring, I immediately thought thought of upholstery fabric. Usually has a wide weave and may or may not have texture on the bottom. Usually lots on sale at Joann’s. Aileen’s Tacky Glue seems to work well on fabric/felt so maybe try that as Laura suggested. 🙂
Congrats on the new refrigerator. I’m sure you will love it. 🙂
I must have hit something wrong. Just one thought at a time. 🙂
Thanks so much Joy. Another great suggestion for my flooring. After I saw Jeanne’s “flooring” fabric I bought some of my own but it won’t work for my skewers so I was back at square one. Now I have a jumping off point thanks to you and Laura. And yes I am pleased as punch with my new fridge because I can’t lose things. I open the door; the light goes on and I can see everything at one time. I actually have empty spaces. I filled my kitchen trash can with things that got lost in the darker regions of the previous one.
Stella looks really cute and now the “Born to be Wild” patch really suits the outfit. She took some fantastic photos. The little fawn is my favorite.
The camera is such a fantastic idea! It makes the whole thing come together and make a wonderful story! Hope it goes well for you. These sofa sisters are full of ideas.
Barbara…Glad the new fridge finally got installed. It will be so nice to not have it be a worry.
Charlotte I think you got good advice about limiting the amount of pipe replacement. Can you ask around at church or neighbors to get some references and a few more quotes? The Liberty of London fabric is soooo nice. Wish it wasn’t so pricey☺️
