Thank you, Joy, for another hilarious episode of your dolly adventures. I enjoyed reading that like all the others you’ve shared with us!
I hope you don’t mind another poem… I felt a little more wit inside me… :o)
Rozen is dressed in her pretty new dress
The snaps are sewn on and the dress has been pressed
I added tulle headers to make the sleeves puffed
I like them much better…they almost look stuffed!
Pretty white lace is sewn at the waist
The hem, done by hand, and beads sewn in place
Under her dress, a slip can be seen
It holds her dress out and fits like a dream
I do have some pieces I’m trying to make I have to be careful and make no mistakes!
My hubby is having another procedure Thursday to see how his Watchman surgery went. We have been on the phone LOTS today getting details of the day. He is also working with the doctors getting things set in motion for his upcoming (third) knee replacement! EEK!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Joy, I so enjoyed your latest dolly adventures! I wonder what Other Person tells his friends about the boxes you sometimes get?!
Jeanne, I think we have another winner here. I love that you’ve picked the different blues from the print to add beads and other embellishments to the lace. This dress is really pretty!
Keeping you and George in my prayers….
Hi Charlotte,
Joy does have the best stories, doesn’t she? Makes me laugh every time!
Thank you for your kind compliments on this dress! Rozen just loves it!
Thanks for the prayers… he’s not really looking forward to it…
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, do you send a copy of the poems you make about a dress, when you have one? You should! It gives the buyer something special!
The dress is just beautiful in its simplicity! I love the threading through the lace and tiny beads! That beautiful blue accentuates Rozen’s pretty eyes, and red hair! I sure do hope another Rozen gets that dress!
Joy, you sure do have the tales of getting dolls successfully in the house with a lot of hilarity, and we get to read about them and laugh! Did you ever open the box to see Massa?
Good luck with George’s medical appointments, Jeanne. I can’t imagine getting a THIRD knee surgery after having two already! Maybe, and hopefully, the third time is the charm! I surely can’t complain, since I’m only going to the dentist today!
HI Linda,
A bit late here, but wanted to answer everyone…
I never thought about sending the funny poems with the dress, but I might try and remember to do so… thanks for that idea.
I hope another Rozen wins this dress too! It is definitely made for HER! I should try it on Stella…she’s a red head too, but she has hazel eyes… hmm…
I had a dentist appointment yesterday and I’m a big chicken when it comes to even going to see him. I can’t imagine a knee replacement (for the THIRD time!)
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Rozen’s dress is lovely. That touch of embroidery and beading make it so special.
Be thinking of George on Thursday, and when he has that knee replacement repeat I’m sure it will go perfectly this time. The medical people have had a lot of practice by now. 🙂 Curious, but does George still have the German Owls or were they sold? I liked seeing them.
Hoping to get Masha out of her box today as yesterday was busy. We had our 2nd booster Covid shots at Kaiser. As we arrived I scanned the parking lot farthest from the medical buildings. Couldn’t believe it, but it looked completely full. There always have been spots there in the past. We decided to give it a try anyway, and as we pulled in, a car was pulling out. What luck! Quickly got our shots and while heading back towards the parking lot, a car pulled along side and a nice woman said for us not to worry, but she was following us to get our parking spot. Wow, I didn’t realize that the parking situation was that bad. Sure enough, as we walked to the car, she was right behind us. As we backed out, she was ready to pull right in. Didn’t see any other spots either. We’ll have to remember that for next time. Crafty parking for sure. 🙂
HI Joy,
I’m going to read your dolly caper this last time when I’m in the waiting room tomorrow… I need something light and funny to keep me from wandering thoughts!
Unfortunately, my hubby gave his Old German Owls to someone… He didn’t sell them as he wanted them to go to a good home… and picked a friend he knew… It was an awful day for him. He wanted to keep them, but at the time he was having some breathing issues and the first doctor he saw said he should probably sell them as breathing in the coop probably wasn’t good for his lungs. Well, it turns out, it wasn’t his lungs that was causing the breathing issues, it was the Afib.
He was just heartbroken to let them go, and for days I’d see him in his office with tears dripping off the end of his nose. :o(
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, Rosen’s dress is just beautiful. I like the way you put the tulle in the sleeves to keep them puffed.
Best of luck on George’s knee replacement, I will be thinking of you both.
Thank you Judi,
Yes, those little tulle sleeve headers really do the trick for droopy sleeves…
We have about 6 weeks before his surgery and he has a list a mile long he wants to get done before then. Thanks so much for your compliments on the dress.
Blessings, Jeanne
Rozen’s dress turned out lovely. I especially like what you did at the waist. I’m sure there is more to come but the dress alone is a stunner. How many layers of tulle do you use for the slip?
After what David went through with his back-to-back knee surgeries, I perish the thought of him ever having another, especially when they manipulated his first knee never telling us what exactly that meant. It was like having both knees done at the same time. He is coming along well but the total recuperation is taking longer than we expected. He still does not feel able to climb the stairs to the choir loft at church. Two other choir members have had knee surgery but it was several years ago and they climb the stairs fine. You and George will definitely be in our prayers for his upcoming procedure and his third, and hopefully final, knee surgery.
HI Barbara,
Yes, there is more to come and you’ll see some of it tomorrow,
Thanks for your prayers, Barbara… as far as going up stairs, my hubby said it was easier for him to go up and down stairs backwards… I know that sounds weird, but I think it has something to do with the way the knee bends… less pressure.
I promise I will show how to make a yoke slip, as you’ve asked for before, but for now, I use 2 layers of the tulle for the skirt section on my slips.
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Rosen looks fantastic in this dress. The blues show off her eyes…the blue running through the lace is always a perfect touch…and the way the bodice fits always amazes me. If I live to be a hundred I will never be able to sew snaps on that perfectly🥴
Poor George…he already knows what is ahead which is no fun. Will add him ( and you) to the prayer list. Good luck
Joy..please send pics of your latest doll… how about a pic of OP holding her!😵💫🤔😃😂
Thanks Kathie,
I’m so glad you like Rozen in this new dress. I have to agree, she DOES look awfully pretty in this color blue. I’ll have to send a picture of her in a close up to Rebecca, since she brought me the fat quarters. She’ll be amazed at how pretty it looks on Rozen.
Oh, my goodness, I’m going to have to have a snap lesson… maybe a video lesson… it seems snaps are problematic for so many people. :o)
Thanks for the prayers Kathie… we appreciate them.
Blessings, Jeanne
Knee replacement seems to improve by the year and George knows all the recovery tricks. This time will probably be the easiest and smoothest, however, anticipating the best usually leads to disappointment. Anticipating the usual will mean being surprised by and grateful for positive changes. Wish him the best.
The subtle decorations on Rozen’s dress make this one special already. I’m anticipating great accessories. I don’t know why silver boots keep coming to mind.
And great news! I know we don’t usually boast about winning one of Jeanne’s auctions, but my Julie (who was once Jeanne’s Julie) now owns Julie’s latest JeanneMarie outfit, which reminds me of a 70’s dress I made for myself. I even had a macrame choker and a similar purse. Of all the Julie dresses I’ve seen, this was my favorite and I’m very happy to have it.
I do have a word of advice though — time your auctions’ endings for no later than the middle of the month, before people have spent all their money.
Dear Marilyn, congratulations on winning! What a lovely gift for your Julie.
HI Marilyn,
As much as George isn’t looking forward to the surgery, he IS looking forward to it being done right and not hurting and bowing inward anymore. I am praying they get it right this FINAL time! He WILL be one grateful person when it’s over!
You’ll love tomorrow’s surprise for Rozen…and maybe the next day another surprise! I’m hoping so!
Tell Julia Alice it will be just a few days until she gets her new dress. I mailed it from the PO today! I hope you both like it when you see her in it! :o)
I never thought about the time of the month for posting my auctions… I should make a study of the time of the month and what they go for… you might be right about it! :o)
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, another cute poem.
The dress really does look dreamy.
Sending up prayers for your husband and for you.
Four more days until May!
HI Dorothy,
Thanks for like my poem and the dress and for your prayers for my hubby AND me. We appreciate them.
Yep, it’s almost here… your favorite day of the year… May 1st! I hope you are having tea!
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
