~ Valentine Sparkle ~ is now listed on Ebay

HI everyone,
I hope everyone stayed warm… I did and I stayed busy too! I got to spend quite a bit of time in my sewing room. YAY!

I showed the pictures of Ten Ping in the pink coat and hat set and got a few comments about possibly changing the ribbon and bow on the hat to black… and then possibly using black pom poms or maybe even make my own out of the pink fabric from her coat.

I took all your suggestions and this is what I decided…

Black ribbon and bow for the hat instead of white!
Pink handmade pom poms for the hat!
Black ties for the boots, instead of white!
I took a little dart in the back of her dress (on the right side as you look at her) to pull in that excess fabric!
I changed out the white and pink beads on the dress, to 3 silver beads!
I added silver beads to her coat on the front and snaps inside.!
AND I found the perfect treat to go with her dress!

Linda thought of the name… Valentine Sparkle, and while it has the word “Valentine” in it, you can use it ANYTIME! No hearts were used for this set! If you want to see the listing (YEP… I got it listed on Ebay Sunday evening) you can see it by clicking the picture at the right sidebar or you can click HERE. It will end Friday evening, this week.

I thought I’d show you how I came up with the pom poms from the fabric. I searched everywhere in my sewing room for white pom poms, black ones, gray furry ones and finally decided I liked the pink ones best anyway. I wanted them to be slightly weighted so I found a bead that was a nice size to cover.

I cut a rough circle that would cover it…

I dotted it with glue and put the bead in the center…

As I wrapped the fur around the bead, I realized it was a little too much fur, so I trimmed it off a little bit closer to the bead…

Then I smashed it together like you would if you were putting something inside a dumpling or dough and using a needle and thread stitched it closed, sort of like darning a hole in a sock…

I stitched the black ribbon onto the ball with tiny stitches and using another tiny piece of fur, I glued that over the stitches holding the ribbon on. Then it looked like a furry ball and no one knew it made the way it was…

This was it when I was finished!

Sunday afternoon, Ten Ping and I, braved the snow and went outside with our “makeshift” sled… It was actually a rubber lid my hubby had in his garage… It was the perfect size and Ten Ping sat on it wonderfully! I taped a rope to the end because my hubby said it needed a pull…

Anyway, here are a few pictures inside and outside… the rest are in the listing…

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, how cute this is, Jeanne! This has turned out to be quite an adventure and a fun one at that! I can see your genius shining through on those pom poms and the way you made them. I don’t think I would have ever thought of that! The black ribbon and shoelaces are exactly the right way to go! Everything turned out just perfectly and Ten Ping looks darling on her “sled”! By the way, what did you use for a sled? It looks like maybe a lid or bowl.

I can’t believe you could actually sew snaps on that furry coat! Snaps are hard enough for me on regular material, but with all that fur? How is it that you don’t lose the snap in the fur? My problem is trying to find my way back into the right hole with the needle when I go through the second time! All this fluffy fur would make that impossible! Well, that’s why you are Jeanne Marie and I’m not!

Oh, I am in Love! This outfit is so cute, and the picture of TenPing on her “sled” is just adorable!! Thanks for showing us how you made the furry balls, too–so clever! The change of ribbons to black was perfect!! Another winner!!

  3. Susette from Southern California

The ensemble is darling! I wasn’t sure about black ribbons but they are perfect with her hair. I really like the beads instead of buttons for closure. And how about those pompoms. What a great display of creativity!

    1. HI Susette,
I’m glad to see you were able to get your comments to show up… I wasn’t sure what the problem was, but just kept hoping it would start working for you…

Love the snow photos. Ten’s sled reminds me of the aluminum disc snow saucer I used to use as a kid sliding down the hill at the cabin. 🙂 She will be nice and warm in her pink coat and boots and be all ready for the disco ball later in the day in her silver shift. So cute.
Weather is on a crazy turn. We were 70 yesterday and the temperature will be climbing higher this week. We may hit 80, if you can believe. This is not going to help the Sierra snow pack, but allow it to melt way too soon. And of course, there is no rain here in northern CA in sight. We were hoping to get some drops in February, but does not look like that will happen. Enjoy your snow, those that are lucky enough to have it. 🙂

Winner, winner! Ten ping looks like she is having the time of her life sledding down that mini hill. All the changes make the whole thing even better. Binding the quilt today…WHOOPIE!

    1. Congratulations on the quilt Kathie…
Make sure we see a picture of it before you give it to your grand son…
You’re on the down hill slope, aren’t you?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Awwwww! So adorable, love all the changes you made. The matching Pom poms were worth the trouble. Thinking of simplification. Do you think you could thread the ribbon thru the bead knot it first then cover the bead? You are so brave to try out things with all these sofa critics.LOL! Love all your work. When do we finish the floors?

  7. Ten Ping looks warm in her furry pink coat and all the changes were just perfect. Love her little “sled” I hear clamoring from the dolly shelf. Wondering whose up next.

Never thought of the black ribbon. I like it! Ten Ping looks so adorable in this precious outfit. I’m sure a lot of dollies will be begging their mamas for it. Love the sled and you had real snow to put it on. I can even see the sparkles in the snow. Clever way to do the pom poms. Great pictures!

I know I really shouldn’t do this to my sofa sisters. It’s pretty mean but I must. If you don’t get “Dolls” magazine you must go to http://www.studiodollpro.com and see the new doll by Dianna Effner Dolls, Inc. She is the first Li’l Dreamer. Her name is Evianna and she is adorable. She is about the size of the Boneka dolls. She has three additional outfits designed by MHD Designs (Magalie) that are sold separately. She is $239 and you can pre-order now for March delivery. I’m afraid I busted my dolly budget lately. I never put my doll stuff on a credit card and I’m trying hard to resist the temptation to do it this time. Only time will tell the level of my success.

Yes, Barbara, I saw Evianna on the website several days ago. I actually have her and an outfit in a cart, but haven’t pushed the “checkout” button yet…. I kinda want to hold out for maybe a dark haired brown eyed girl, but not sure I can resist lovely Evianna! LOL

I put it all in my cart to see what the total would be but I haven’t pushed the “checkout” button either. I need to sleep on this. LOL (I think)

    2. Joy in northern CA

Barbara, I saw her too. She is cute, but her eyes aren’t quite to my liking. Guess I’m spoiled with the LD painted eyes. I suppose a repaint is possible though.
With RRFF coming out with four new characters, special edition, I’ll probably pass. 🙂

    3. Hi Barbara,
I saw Evianna and as soon as I did, I looked away… I. Just. Can’t!
      Blessings, Jeanne

The black accents are just right. I am so glad you chose a sledding picture for the first Ebay picture — that should attract attention. Ten Ping has never looked cuter. The silver beads work beautifully.

Hm — Kirstin hasn’t had a midwinter dress this year — I hate to interrupt the parade of coats, but….
