Perks of reading my blog posts each day…

It might seem silly, but you can learn “inside” information if you read my blog each day… I’m talking “important” things…things you’ll want to know and use for yourself. :o)

Here are a few examples… where else could you see how to cover a bead with fur and make it look like a pom pom? Although, I have to give BIG CREDITS to Dorothy L for thinking of something I missed… Instead of covering the bead and then stitching on the ribbon with a needle and thread…

…she suggested why not run the ribbon down the center hole of the bead, then the end of the ribbon could be wrapped up onto the bead and glued down, then the fur is wrapped around the bead at the point where the ribbon comes out! GENIUS idea Dorothy! I’m going to do that the “next” time I’m out of pom poms and end up making my own!

See you’d have missed that “very” important tip if you didn’t read my blog post!

Another thing… several of you asked what Ten Ping’s SLED was made out of… It was actually a black lid off something my hubby had in the garage…it’s plastic and worked perfectly with a bit of jute taped to the back side for a pull… I thought I’d show you a picture of it…

AND… did you notice the “matching” candy bar in the picture? Ten Ping wanted to show everyone what the winner would be getting if they win this sweet set! It’s BIG…it’s Dark Chocolate, and it’s Raspberry too! What a great combination!

Now, I also wanted to let you know I wasn’t loafing today… I was working on the next doll dress! Yep, it’s cut out and in the works… and here’s something you’ll ONLY know if you read my blog… it’s for an American Girl doll!

Okay, who fainted?

I’m going to keep it a secret one more day and then if you come back, you’ll see who it’s for and hopefully it will be done enough to show you how busy I’ve been…

I do have some Valentine Dresses from a few readers, so hang on for those too!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What a great tip from Dorothy L.! I wouldn’t have thought to do that, either.

Well, that candy will certainly “sweeten the deal”! I love Ghirardelli candies! So good! (I stock up on their peppermint bark at Christmastime, as it’s the only time I can get it, and it’s a “must have” in this house!)

I have started on another pair of short overalls for one of my Little Darlings dolls. Some of you may remember my mentioning my goal of making one pair for each of my seven LDs. Well, it’s four down, one started, and then two more to go! Maybe this will be the summer when they will finally all have play clothes!

An American Girl is next, huh?! I wonder if it’ll be Kirsten, or maybe Molly? Of course, I also have Felicity, and two modern girls….

I can’t wait to see a picture of your seven LDs all ready for a summer outing in their new play clothes. Seven! How blessed you are. I’m a Ghiradelli fan myself. I’ve run out and need to replenish my supply. And we usually stock up on the peppermint bark at Christmas too and our one son loves getting it for a Christmas gift Don’t know what happened this year but it didn’t get done. Due to David’s knee surgeries I didn’t get out much but I should have ordered it online like I did everything else.

Dear Charlotte, I do remember you said you were making outfits for your seven Little Darling children. Hmmm, that might tie in to an idea I have for our Little Darling ning site for next month. More later.

Good thinking on Dorothy’s part! That should help you, Jeanne, the next time you make pom poms, Jeanne!

Oh, so the “sled” was a lid, just as I was thinking! It served the purpose, and really came in handy when we actually did have snow! Looks like Ten Ping had oodles of fun!

That candy looks so good! At least you will have no worries about it melting in this weather, although it is going to warm up a bit.

And now a dress for an American Girl! About time, and for who? Keep us guessing!🤔

    1. Good hints today Jeanne. I had to smile when you said the sled was a lid…. I think as kids we used a cardboard box sometimes too.
Didn’t get the binding on the quilt yesterday but it is all cut out and pieced together and folded in half and pressed.
Somehow my eBay name fills in below now…so if I forget to change it that is why🥴

Thank you Jeanne for mentioning my bead tip, most of the time we just sit here on the sofa looking pretty but sometimes we like to give unsolicited helpful hints. Lol.
    Stay warm and safe all.

One of the three doxies we see almost everyday and that belong to friends has aggressive cancer. They rescued him about four years ago as his original owner had died. They were so kind to adopt an older dog and have given him a wonderful life in their home. He was still able to come running a bit for the carrots we always carry for the pups and looked in great spirits. He’s getting the royal treatment with homemade chicken soup and other treats. Love Biggie.
Lots of dollies becoming available. Linda Macario has an open enrollment for two of her little dolls, Donut and Cupcake. RRFF has a new girl coming on the 13th, and Charlene at Meadow Dolls has painted extras of the favorite Giggi. She has photos on her site. That sale is a sign up and drawing on Thursday.
Looking forward to seeing the next Jeanne fashion for the AG’s.

Joy, have you seen the new Winter Wonderland doll that is coming to Meadow Dolls. I saw it in “Dolls” magazine but haven’t’ really checked into it. Really beautiful.

    2. Another new RRFF, Joy? Wow, they are coming out at an amazing clip. Good thing I don’t need a collection of them, I could never keep up. I’m waiting for the perfect combo I see in my head.

The RRFF girl on the 13th is I believe the 1st of 4. Only have been able to see them in silhouettes so far. Intriguing though. They will be on Rubyredtoys.com.

I think the next dress is Kristen’s midwinter dress, so won’t I be surprised when it turns out to be for Felicity to welcome spring.

One brand of yogurt — Greek Gods (I just checked) — has black lids on their quart containers. The lids are 4.5″ in diameter. How close is that to Ten Ping’s sled?

My sister gave my mother a teddy bear. After a week or so, my sister realized the teddy bear, Jacob, was getting bored, so she took a washable white summer hat and turned it upside down to make a boat. I found a white ladle in the utensils drawer for an oar, and Jacob went white water rafting (or hatting) on one of Mom’s pillows. Eventually he used a lot of my AG accessories for props for his adventures. When your parents are going downhill, every cheerful thing helps.

Kudos to Dorothy L. for her very clever idea. I will definitely keep that in mind whenever I want to make a pom pom specific to an outfit. I’m still not terribly up to snuff on the AG 18″ dolls but I’m getting better. I have none of the 18″ dolls but I have two of the mini dolls, Molly and Julie. But I do love seeing clothes for them, especially anything Renaissance.

I agree with Joy about the face on Evianna. I feel the same way about my two Bonekas. But when I looked into having their faces repainted, I was shocked at the cost. If I was more talented in that direction I would try it myself but the poor things would be worse off if I did. I’ve just seen repaints and there is such a drastic difference. Maybe if I’d stop buying dolls I could pay for repaints. I’m still kicking around whether or not to get Evianna. Sometimes I do things on impulse and wish I had waited. I’m trying to really think this through. The price is good and I love that Magalie did the costuming which is a plus for me. Mulling, mulling, mulling…

Yes I do love all the information I glean from reading your blog, but there’s no problem with me reading it. It’s kind of an addiction. I may not always comment, but I always read the blog. The sled idea is perfect.

  7. Wonderful idea, Dorothy L! Yes, always something fun to see or glean from the blog posts.
So glad the next dress is for an AG. I’m with Marilyn, Kirsten or Felicity is my guess.

I may not comment every day but I always read your blog Jeanne. I thought Dorothy’s idea was a very good one. I’m looking forward to seeing the new outfit and which doll it is for.

  9. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I think the pink and gray of the outfit go well together. What a cute sled.

I can see that all of the Mamas of American Girl dolls have slid up the sofa and are leaning forward to see what the new dress will look like (chuckle). I am sure it will be adorable.
