Something NEW for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends and “Victorian Charm”

Thanks again, Sally, for all your wonderful pictures. I think we ALL enjoyed seeing them, and yes, SCRUTINIZING them too! I LOVE to look at the details and I know I’m not alone!

I was looking at Rozen in her new Victorian Charm set, and I had an idea. I thought she needed a different hat… a bonnet always looks wonderful with a cape… soooo… I made her one…

I used some of the red boucle fabric and interfaced it so it was a bit stiff and added some black trim.

I think it looks pretty cute on her…

…and I think it looks wonderful now with the capelet…

Isn’t Rozen just the sweetest little girl?

She likes it very much now too… but I’ll include the first beret hat as well…

I also made her a new slip… I’m not a fan of skimpy slips so it needed more fullness and now it does!

Well, that’s what I was up to today! :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

That bonnet is absolutely Perfect for Rozen!! I like it so Very much better than the beret. (And yet…for myself, I like berets! Go figure…)

Congrats on 7 bids now!! Another bidding war?!

Susette, thanks for mentioning the “letters to Santa” fabrics; I will have to look for them. I checked online, and there are several darling prints in the line!! (Oh, yes, I do need more fabric….LOL)

    1. Thanks Charlotte,
I like the bonnet better too… Too bad I wasn’t able to add a picture of it to my auction on Ebay, but I did mention it at the bottom of the listing. I did mention it and show a few pictures of it on the RRFF forum and on Happily Ever After’s forum. Maybe someone will see it.
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Linda in St. Louis

Jeanne, that’s the kind of bonnet I thought you would be making in the first place!! It looks a lot more Victorian than the beret. It looks wonderful with the cape and I can see her going out Christmas caroling in this, in long ago scenes of carolers! You always come along with a great save, and this is one of the best!

    1. HI Linda,
If I hadn’t been in such a hurry to get it listed, I probably would have realized I liked this bonnet better… but it’s okay, whether or not the winner sees it on my blog or one of the forums, they’ll be getting it and it might be a nice surprise for someone! :o)

      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Perfect hat for a wonderfully designed outfit! The trims and ribbon are great. Love the new slip for her dress. What a winning combinationโ€ฆcongratulations.

    1. Thank you for your kind compliments, Nanette! I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the new bonnet!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I like the bonnet. She looks very sweet in it. The winner will be getting a special gift from you. What a lovely gesture!

Happy December 1! Three weeks until Christmas.

    1. Thank you Dorothy,
I appreciate your compliments on the bonnet!
Yep, just a few more days to sew Christmas things. My goodness, I wish I had more time! :o(
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Marilyn+in+Colorado

What a good idea. Rozen looks wonderful, and with 2 hats, whoever wins this outfit will have the perfect hat for her doll.I’ll join Dorothy in wishing everyone a long and happy December.

    1. Thank you Marilyn,
I hope the winner has more than one doll and another red outfit so they can use both hats at the same time.
Thank you for the Advent Calendar… I’m going to open it up after dinner! :o) How sweet of you!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Sally from Colorado

    Dear Jeanne,
Now youโ€™re really cooking here. Like Linda, I was surprised you did the beret instead of a bonnet like this. This bonnet is just super, and a fuller slip is era perfect. The winner will delight in the extra bonnet and very full slip. Well done! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜
Have a wonderful day; Iโ€™ll be starting to put up our tree today.
    Hugs, ๐Ÿฅฐ
    Sally

    1. Thanks Sally,
Again, thanks for your pictures yesterday. I have thought about all those dolls and the pretty outfits they were wearing pretty much ever since I saw them. They are so much fun to look at and even more fun to have in your collection! Thanks for your sweet comments.
I hope you got your tree put up…I’m enjoying mine! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

Yes, now I can see Rozen out caroling with her friends although her arms may get a bit chilly. ๐Ÿ™‚ Love the adorable hat.
Will you get back to finishing the flooring in the last room any time soon? Since you’re all decorated I’m sure Jeanne has lots of time on her hands. Just kidding. ๐Ÿ™‚
Our weather has been so beautiful. Clear, sunny, and of course, absolutely dry. More drought looms ahead. Ugh.

    1. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

Hi Joy, wish I could send you some of our rain! Not real rain though, just a miserable drizzle. Still, I suppose it helps to stave off drought here, East cost NZ is much dryer than the west so drought is very common in this part of the country.

    2. HI Joy, I actually was going to make her a book that she used for caroling, but I decided to do the shopping bag instead, but after I got the bonnet done, I can just see her as a caroler like you and a few others! :o)

My hubby and I were just talking about the floor in his office… I think in a few days we might start that… although that’s going to cut into my sewing time, so I might ask him if we can wait until it’s too close to Christmas to make any more dresses…

It’s been in the 50’s today but windy and quite cool…
Sorry about the dry weather you are having…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Kathie from Omaha

Well if that isnโ€™t the prettiest bonnet! It is even cuter than the beret. Is there a hat form under it?The auction winner will be soooo happy with the hat choices and of course the slip is a great bonus. I think Rosen has an even bigger smile so she must love it as well๐Ÿค—

    1. Thank you Kathie,
I’m glad you like the bonnet…even better than the beret…(me too!) :o)
There isn’t a hat form under it… just interfaced and pressed on a ham to get it a bit shaped, but it’s just a flat piece of fabric with a few darts in the back to make it a bit curved.
I just love how Rozen looks in most things… I adore her.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

I love the bonnet Jeanne, like others I think it is more Victorian than the beret. Lucky recipient.

    1. Susette from Southern California

I agree that the bonnet is the best choice for this outfit. So cute! I hope everyone has fun renewing acquaintance with your favorite Christmas ornaments. ๐ŸŽ„

      1. Thank you Susette,
I am certainly enjoying my Christmas tree being up so early! I like to turn it on in the evening and just have the white lights showing in the room… :o)
        Thanks Susette,
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. HI Anne,
The new bonnet IS more Victorian than the beret… I should have waited and made it, but it’s done so it is what it is… The winner will get both, so it won’t matter.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I actually truly wondered why she had a tam instead of a bonnet, but since you had already made it I didn’t want to question. The new slip gives her skirt the proper fullness as well. Now it looks like a Victorian outfit and is absolutely prefect.

    1. HI Laura,
I was just looking at Rozen on my cutting table with that beret on and it dawned on my that a bonnet (or better… a “Carolers” bonnet) would be the better choice… so I did it… who cares if I got it wrong the first time… the winner won’t mind, I don’t think! :o)
      Thanks for your kind compliments.
      Blessings, Jeanne

The “Victorian Charm” ensemble just keeps getting better and better. The new bonnet is totally fetching. Rozen never looked more lovely. There is a very lucky winner out there somewhere. Maybe even one of our very own sofa sisters.

I wrote a comment yesterday saying how much I loved Sally’s doll presentation. Before I sent it I went back up and reread some of the other comments and then went to make a comment on a comment and lost my initial comment. No one to blame but myself on that one, but I’ve got so much on my plate right now I didn’t have time to redo it. Because Sally did such a fantastic job of dressing and posing her dolly family members, I couldn’t move on without words of praise for her efforts. Would be that all those dolly children could dress and pose themselves. Can I get a Big LOL. We can never see too many dolled up dollies for sure. Many, many thanks to Jeanne for allowing us to occasionally take over her blog to show what we’ve been up to. That’s beyond generous.

Everyone is talking about the Northern Lights RRFF. She is positively adorable but alas I cannot entertain another dolly purchase at the moment. With Maya arriving last week and Maru Mini Pal Chloe arriving on Saturday, I’m afraid to push my luck. But wait! The gatekeeper knows about Maya but was otherwise occupied when Chloe showed up so… Maybe I need to rethink this. After all both Christmas and my birthday are coming up very soon. When it comes to dolly purchasing, there are no poor excuses.

Sadly, I will not be able to do the outdoor sports photo shoot this year. My plan was to do it before I put up my Christmas village since I need some of the items I use for that for my set-up. I was wondering where some of my winter apparel was so I checked and discovered some of the clothing, including two adorable snowsuits for my Heartstring dolls will not be arriving till mid-January. Plenty of time for a winter photo shoot but it won’t be until after I’ve taken down the village. Logistically it does work out fine and I will probably have more time then anyway because David should be totally back on his feet by then. His next knee replacement is this coming Tuesday. Unfortunately, just when he needs it the most the powerlift recliner we bought in January at the time of his heart surgery has ceased to work properly and when you lower the leg rest fully it locks up the power to the whole chair. The manufacturer says they can’t do anything about it because we did not buy it directly from them. The place where we bought it has not responded to my request for information on how to get it fixed. And the fun begins.

  12. Hi Barbara,
It would be fun if one of my sofa sisters won this set… since they’ve seen it in the “works” for a few days now… I appreciate you kind compliments on it! Glad you like it.

I’m going to have to see if I can’t find someone who can help me get that straightened out when you comment and then your comment disappears…it seems like it’s happening more frequently now… I don’t think of it as “taking over my blog…” it’s more like “helping me out” when I need it most! :o)

I am just like you… I’d like to have Northern Lights, but I’d also like that little bitty 5″ Nunnu, from My Meadows… what’s a girl to do?

My hubby is going back to his knee replacement doctor… he had both knees done at the same time, but his right knee has bowed out and now it’s starting to hurt… he had knee revision surgery on it about 15 months ago, but it’s really bowing out now and it’s so noticeable…he wants to see if something can be done to fix it… again…

I hope you get your chair issues fixed…and the knee surgery goes well…
    Thanks Barbara,
    Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Charlotte Trayer

Oh, Jeanne, I’m so sorry George is having trouble with that one knee again!! Praying that you and the doctors can find a solution!
