Agreeable Gray and Pink… just wait and see…

Hi everyone,
I wanted to get your questions answered from the last 2 posts, but I didn’t find the time… I may go back and see if there were some questions I could answer…

I worked a little more on my bedroom… I spackled the nail holes in the trim and got those touched up… my trim looks really nice now… The closet doors will have to wait (probably until after the wedding.)

I decided to take back both the curtains and the coverlet… I loved both, but not together. I loved the fabric in the coverlet, but decided I would need a king size to cover down lower on my bed… I listed to your comments and like many of you, the geometric design didn’t go with my headboard… I remember Joy saying something about painting the headboard black… well, that might work for some, but it isn’t for me. I love it white as it shows off the details of the raised work that I highlighted with gold Rub ‘n Buff. I’ll figure it out soon. I was looking on Google and Pinterest for ideas for room painted in Agreeable Gray and what colors worked well with it. I ran across a blog post from West Magnolia Charm that I read from top to bottom… I thought you might like it too…

Agreeable Gray SW 7029

Karn came in today so he and Rebecca can make some final plans and apply for their marriage license, so I’m back sleeping in my sewing room… 3 weeks from yesterday is the wedding for them… yikes!

Ingrid saved the day for me this time… she sent me several pictures of her daughters wedding. She did all the flowers for it… wait till you see…and if you love pink, you’re in for a real treat…

This is what Ingrid emailed me about her pictures…

“You asked about photo’s of Danielle’s wedding flowers, I know I never took photo’s myself, my hope was perhaps the wedding photographer took some. I honestly couldn’t recall photo’s of only the flowers. Well there are around 700 photo’s many are taken one after another as if the photographer kept his finger on the camera button. Anyway Danielle’s theme color was pink. Her bouquet was simple with no fillers (fern or baby breath) just dark pink (fuchsia) roses and gerbera daisies, her girls carried similar arrangements of dark and light pink roses. The bouquets were bundled together and the stems wrapped with white sink ribbon.”

“The flower girls (my grand daughters) carried rose petal filled baskets. I couldn’t find any white baskets I liked so I spray painted these baskets white and then wrapped the handles with dark fuchsia ribbon . They sprinkled and twirled down the “aisle” it was sweet.”

“We thought short flower pieces on the tables would be nice so one could visit and see who was sitting across the way. I thought we needed a little bit more color then just pink so each table piece had lots of color and each was a little different which I thought was so sweet. The boys all wore a large single dark pink rose with a little fern, the groom a single white rose with a small light pink carnation and fern. I made Carol, the grooms mom, a corsage of a dark pink rose, light purple freesia (which smells heavenly!) and small pink roses or carnations.. I can’t really remember. There was also a small bouquet for the bouquet toss… the ladies were very excited and as you can see in the picture it was a little smaller after the throw.”

“I’m not sure I ever told you but hubby and I make wine. We made the wedding wine you see on the tables, one bottle for each guest to take home all 150 of them Emoji. I bought all the linens, I washed and ironed each napkin into a heart. My sweet daughter in law steamed all the table cloths for me, the chair ties (which were brand new but wrinkled so badly) needed washing and ironing… we had a wedding practice the night before the wedding and after we ate we had a decorating party… I was thankful for the help! I wish I’d taken a picture of the 7 grooms men tying the chair ties into bows… what a hoot!”

I received another email from Ingrid with “Oops” in the subject line… she corrected something she said earlier…

“I told you Christian wore a white rose but it was hubbys picture I was looking at when I was typing, I made Christian’s boutonniere dark pink with fern and a small pink carnation. Carols hand’s covering the bottom where the carnation was located. As I was getting dressed I got a call that one of the boutonniere’s was damaged and if I could make another. Thankfully I had lots of flowers left. My hands were so sore from de-thorning roses and twisting floral tape and stripping foliage for the last two days but in the end who remembers the pain? I only remember the huge smile from my daughter and the nice compliments.
I also thought I’d mention the short flower arrangements were in beer glasses I bought at Walmart…LOL no one would ever have guessed! The med size arrangement on the gift table was in a dollar store vase as was the arrangement near Christians dads photo. The larger arrangement were in vases I had sitting around the house.”

Thanks so much Ingrid! We haven’t heard from you, but please know we are still thinking of you, and praying for you…

I think tomorrow we’ll see a few pictures from another wedding… :o)

Well, that’s it for me,
Hope you had a great weekend, and now a Marvelous Monday!
Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, I guess I am before Charlotte today. I am up from the night before so I will go first.

I love Ingrid’s photos. I hope she is doing better. She remains on my prayer list.

Someone on one of the decorating shows (maybe Unsellable Houses) used Agreeable Gray and I thought of you.

I know you will eventually get the look you want for your room. You will love it when you do.

Well, Jeanne, I’m not surprised you took the curtains and coverlet back; you just weren’t that enthused about them in the first place, and, really, You are going to be the one looking at those things every day for the next however-many years, so you may as well get something you Love, not just something that “will work”. And somewhere, those things are out there….

Ingrid, thanks for sharing the pictures of your daughter’s wedding!! She was a beautiful bride, and her floral arrangements and decorations were really beautiful. I love that deep fuchsia color of roses, and I imagine if I hadn’t had lavender, I’d have gone with something like that.

It always astounds me when someone can make those floral arrangements, bouquets, corsages, etc. so effortlessly. I have absolutely NO talent in that direction, whatsoever!!

Hope this finds you in good health, and your tests went well.

What a lovely wedding, Ingrid! It makes things so special when you yourself, and friends work on something and see it turn out so beautifully! It looks like the wedding and reception were in the same place which makes things easier and more convenient for everyone! Your daughter was a beautiful bride, and best of all we got to see Ingrid! I especially loved the small wedding cake, so pretty and artistic! And you are a wine maker? Who knew?

I’m sure the flower girls made a big impression and everyone would be talking about that for a long time! Such a darling touch to make it a special day! All your hard work paid off! We are still praying for you, Ingrid, and keeping you in our thoughts.

You will get there with your bedroom, Jeanne! You have just too much on your plate now, and after the wedding, you will have more time to really think! Another wedding tomorrow? How exciting!

I’m with you, Jeanne. The room would have looked too bland with more white. Your very well done headboard needs to be a feature. Hopefully it’ll stand out against a colorful, possibly flowered, bedspread and pillows.

Beautifully done, Ingrid. I didn’t have any girls and wouldn’t have known where t start. And making the wine! What an original touch. Lovely bride and cute attendants. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

For Ingrid: I had diverticulosis for at least 20, always resolved with antibiotics until June of 2020 when it didn’t resolve. Ten days in the hospital on IV antibiotics, then surgery. All is well now. Decades ago I had an appendectomy after suffering from pain intermittently for seven years! Please have them keep looking for the source of your pain. So glad no C. Thanks again for the pictures.

Well, since you won’t go with a black headboard, how about Brainstorm Bronze, one of the other colors that go with Agreeable Gray? Ha ha. Not a shabby chic girl here. 🙂 Loved reading the info on Agreeable Gray. Who would have thought. And I couldn’t help but notice how wood tones are also shown with it. So glad they are back. 🙂
Wow! What a wedding produced by Ingrid. So many fine details. Those bouquets and boutonnières were lovely as well. Looks like a very happy day.
Have to get going and get things done before it gets hot. No fog today and going to be in the 90’s. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s wedding. 🙂

Good morning, everyone! Hope the weekend was a good one for each of you.

Dear INGRID, as I do each day, I tap into the last blog for any last comments I may have missed, and saw your entry announcing that there was no cancer. Yay! That is most welcome news, but if you are still having pain, well, that’s just not good. Hang in there, dear Ingrid; we will continue keeping you in our prayers.
Also, a huge thanks for sharing the beautiful photos and commentary about your daughter’s wedding. What a memorable day made even more special with all that work from your hearts. Just beautiful. I especially loved the team work after the rehearsal dinner. And to see pictures of you, too, Mrs. Winemaker, and your lovely daughter. Thank you, and get better, please. Jeanne, thanks for posting these photos.

Dear DOROTHY in PA, another tea party and it was National tea week in the UK. What fun!! You said you would have a picture to share with us and I hope that is in the pipeline. Sending a hug to my Dollville neighbor!

Dear JEANNE. Thank you for sharing Ingrid’s wonderful pictures and description of her daughter’s special day. And three weeks away until Miss Rebecca’s day! Whoa! Undoubtedly, you have your roller skates on, but just remember to put on the brakes every now and then. Also, I am glad you are returning g the coverlet and curtains. You have to LOVE these things and love them together immediately, or you are simply “making do”, which isn’t the worst thing ever, but if you don’t have to “make do”, then don’t. After the wedding and you sisters have your visit, which made me glad to hear, you can get this bedroom exactly as your dream dictates; it is going to be spectacular and “pure Jeanne.”

Lovely clear, cool morning in Salida. Got an eagerly anticipated telehealth with my PCP this afternoon, an appointment to get my body in alignment which is always bliss, then meeting an old buddy at Mickey D’s for an ice cream cone and good old yap. Of course, I always bring a large bottle of chocolate sprinkles that we generously pour onto our cones. 😁👍❤️

May you all have your own version of chocolate sprinkles today. Sending hugs and prayers.

JEANNE, I just went to that website on AG. It’s a great color. I was interested to see that she put Dovetail Gray next to it and said she had all of her walls in that. DG is what I chose for our living room and we have loved it. Maybe when I repaint, I will do the front wall in AG and the rest in DG. Thanks for sharing this!
      Hugs,
      Sally

  7. First, Dear Ingrid, I went back in the posts and found your comment Saturday. Praise Jesus that you don’t have C. I hope the additional tests help figure out the best treatment to help you. Prayers for healing.

What a fantastic job you did on the wedding. Danielle is a beautiful bride. Love the heart shaped napkins. What a lot of work for all the flower bouquets and boutonnières . Truly a labor of love!

Thanks to Ingrid for sharing the photos of her daughter’s lovely wedding. I noticed her bridesmaids had the different style dresses we talked about before. The color of everything was the best. I’m always impressed by people who do such wonderful things with flowers. my one stepdaughter has this knack and did the flowers for her sister’s wedding. They were lovely. I am glad to hear Ingrid’s results came back negative for cancer. I remember my aunt having problems for several years, especially if she ate cole slaw. They finally diagnosed her as having diverticulitis. I can’t remember how they treated it but I do know she did much better but did have to stay away from cole slaw. I will keep Ingrid in my prayers that she soon solves her pain issue and that it’s nothing much.

I think taking back your curtains and bedspread was a wise idea. If something doesn’t “grab” me, I’ll never make it work no matter how hard I try. I’ve loved both times we did our master bedroom. It’s green now with a border that matches my comforter, which is a beige pattern with flowers. Once the walls were mauve with our comforter, dust ruffle, shams and valances all black with mauve and blue flowers. The curtains were off white with a design on them and the mauve and blue flowers. The border was along the upper wall and down the corners and matched the comforter, etc. I loved it so much that when we did my study we painted the walls to match the blue flowers and, since I have four windows in my bedroom and two double windows in my study, I had plenty of curtains for the room. I cut down the dust ruffle to fit my settee. We created the settee from my daughter’s old bottom bunk bed. I did not cut down the comforter, I just fold it over the mattress and tuck it under. The two shams are king size and work wonderfully on the back against the wall along with the two throw pillows. Now that the room is tidied up, it makes quite a cozy setting.

It looks like Rebecca’s wedding plans are progressing nice. Only three more weeks. You hardly have time to wrap your mind around it all. Her leaving will take some getting used to. Just know that the sofa sisters are here for you. We’ve already got quite a stack of tissues at the ready.

  9. Marilyn from Colorado

Thanks to Ingrid for all the pictures. The pink balloons and fuchsia ribbons made the room festive, and the matching-in-color, different-in-style bridesmaids dresses are always a good choice. Maybe my favorite objects from the wedding are the flower girls baskets.

That’s miles of table coverings to steam out. What a lot of work, but what a lot of lovely memories. It was worth it.

Now to look at “What goes with Agreeable Gray.

  10. Hi Jeanne,
What a fun surprise to see the photo’s I sent you on your blog. It made me smile all over again.

I’m surprised you took both the curtains and the bedspread back but you know what you like best. I’m sure it will all come together just like every project you take on the end result is always lovely! I enjoyed the West Magnolia Charm blog on Agreeable Gray and learned quite a bit about paint that I didn’t know. Good read thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Danielle’s special day was lots of fun. I wanted to make one comment on her picture. Her father is 6ft, she’s tall but not that tall she actually has on 5 inch fuchsia high heels lol… we had to special order her dress because she wanted it extra long.

Linda and Sally …That isn’t me in the two photos, it’s the grooms mother. She’s a dear lady but looks nothing like me. If you look at the photo of the bride maids and my grand daughters I’m sitting down that is my father sitting behind me and that’s me in a mauve gown. Danielle’s wedding was planned nearly a year before the big day. A month before the wedding I was in a car accident. My back was injured, almost everything I did after the accident was done sitting down as my back and left leg caused me severe pain and standing for long periods wasn’t possible. Six months of physical therapy didn’t help any and it was decided I needed surgery. Two surgeries later I’m not quite back to normal but as good as can be : ) thank you Jesus!!!

Susette… thank you for your kind words. I’m so glad you are well now. I can’t imagine seven years of intermittent pain yikes! You poor thing. I will definitely mention it to my doctor. Thank you for sharing with me.

    Hugs to everyone
    Ingrid

ps excited to see the next wedding : )

    1. Sally from Colorado

Oh, INGRID, I didn’t realize about your accident and surgeries. Sounds like you and Suzette have had really difficult and painful journeys. I am so sorry, but it is good that you have seen significant improvement in mobility, yes?
Thank you for clarifying who is whom, and I think you are beautiful!!

This wedding looks like it was a lot of fun, but 5” heels sound like a nightmare! I bet she changed for the party?

Thank you, again for sharing these photos of a truly lovely lovely day. Keep strong.

      Hugs,

      Sally
