Josefina looks spectacular in her new blue Rebozo…

I gave in and emailed Sara, (my webmaster) and asked for her help in figuring out what is causing the problems with the comments… she’s in Kenya, Africa, right now, so I hope she gets back with me soon… in the meantime, I’ll keep approving your comments and we’ll carry on! :o)

Today is my sister, Deb’s, birthday… and also it’s Alba’s birthday! Happy Birthday to TWO VERY SPECIAL ladies in my life… Hope your day is wonderful!

I have some sweet pictures taken outside this afternoon and evening, showing just how pretty Josefina is… She is definitely my “outside” sweetheart! I hope you’ll enjoy these pictures…

I will show you how I turned the ladies infinity scarf into Josefina’s rebozo, maybe tomorrow, but I just wanted to show you the outside pictures of her in both skirts and how pretty she looks. Rebecca added a chain to the dream catcher charm with a magnetic clasp on the ends. For the more colorful piece, she just suggested a simple ribbon, so I used the same blue ribbon as I did for her braids. Since seeing it in my pictures, I am going to make it just a little shorter. I don’t want it touching her waistband, but raised up a bit.

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy on this Thursday… first in the blue…

My Dinner Plate Hibiscus is blooming so we had to get a picture beside it…

Josefina wanted to give the hens a long blade of grass… I put it in her hand and fed it through the fence…then stepped back to see what they’d do… one hen came over and took it…

Here’s a short video of her feeding that hen… it takes a few seconds to load and then you can watch it without it buffering…

Our fountain desperately needed to have the algae washed off it, but there’s something about it, that when you take a dolls picture by it, it usually turns out fabulously…

This is my favorite picture of the day…

…a few more in the blue…

Then I hurried and took her inside and swapped out the blue skirt for the coral batik one and put on her new necklace for this look…

Now for the big moment to see if the blue Rebozo worked for this skirt just as well as it did for the blue one… I think it does…

Another stop by the Hibiscus flowers…

…and on to the fountain in the coral skirt…I think there truly is something about the lighting right there in the courtyard… these pictures turned out very nicely too…

One last picture, showing how pretty Josefina looks in colorful prints…

Well, I hope you liked that slideshow of Josefina in her 2 very different looking outfits… You know what’s next for me… listing…and probably a few more pictures… then it’s Ebay time… get your bidding fingers ready… :o)

Thanks everyone,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, you got some beautiful pictures of Josefina in her new coordinates! And yes, I think the blue rebozo goes well with the other skirt, too. It looks summery by itself (just the blouse and bright skirt), but nice to add the rebozo for those cool evenings.

I enjoyed the little video, too. That one chicken really seemed to be looking Josefina over!!

  2. Your Josefina is perfection in both outfits! Love her jewelry also. Congratulations on your coordination of everything…the rebozo pulls both outfits together. Sending Happy Birthday wishes to your sister Deb and Alba.🎂

Wow! You’ve knocked it out of the park with these two ensembles for Josefina. You are the Thrift Shop Princess for finding that scarf and using it for the Rebozo, even down to the fringe on the edges. The necklaces are perfect too. Your imagination just runs away with you and you follow it! Ha, ha.

The pictures and video are great with the chickens. They look just like the one that comes with the accessory set for Josefina. I wouldn’t touch that algae on the fountain. It adds character and charm to it. If one tried to get it to grow there, it wouldn’t. Thanks for sharing your process of arriving at the finished outfits once again.

Hearing crickets around here. Maybe the moderation thing will be fixed soon.
The photos are just fabulous. I honestly did not see one that wasn’t special. However, as you mentioned, the ones taken by the fountain are over the top. They remind me of a Spanish hacienda setting. My favorite photo is the one with the hibiscus in the distance and a peek of the newly painted shed. It is really a fantastic photo.
How fun that Josefina was able to actually feed the chickens. Such a fun clip!
Lots of new RRFF dolls seem to be surfacing for preorder. Most are those from the past recreated with great new wigs and special outfits. Trying to keep my buy button in check.
Didn’t have time for any sewing yesterday as we made a Costco trip, but I did cut out a cute black and white checked item. Need some longer days to fit in everything we need to do. 🙂

    Hi Jeanne,
What a lovely ensemble! Some Josefina and their Mama are going to be soooo happy. You are correct the outdoor photo’s are beautiful. Your Dinner Plate Hibiscus is as pretty as ever.
I wanted to answer your question about my new doll Hazel. You guessed right she is a Connie Lowe doll. I’ve had her for a while now. I gave her eyelashes as all Connie’s dolls come without them. I also changed her eye color, just as I thought she was ready to photograph, I noticed I got glue on her eye. When I went to clean her eye the eyelash came out with her eyeball. Yikes back to square one! lol Hazel is wrapped in her wrap until I feel like trying again.
You asked about my sense of smell and taste and if they have returned. Nope! I’m still having issues. Onion and garlic which I’ve always enjoyed eating smell like sulfur. Even when I get it past my nose the taste isn’t pleasant. Lots of foods smell “fishy” to me, not that I don’t like fish but really now I don’t want my cappuccino to smell like fish! Something odd happened last friday, I ate coleslaw with my clam dinner and the slaw tasted like it was swimming in dish soap. I’m pretty sure I haven’t had it since last summer so it was a total shock to me, when I mentioned it to my sister in-law she said her friend who also has had covid is experiencing the same as me. I suppose in some odd way it’s comforting to know I’m not the only one having issues with my sniffer and my taster.
I have a favor to ask of my sofa sisters… the C word has been thrown my way and I’d appreciate some prayers. Another test is scheduled for later this month… I’m remaining optimistic and thinking positive thoughts.
I feel bad not commenting on any ones comment but as I started writing this there were none to read. I hope the blog issue is fixed soon : )

    Hugs
    Ingrid

Hugs and prayers going your way Ingrid. If it helps I have two friends who are still with us and had breast cancer 15+ years ago and my daughter has now had the all clear after being diagnosed almost 2 years ago. It has been a long haul and she had some difficult moments but she tried to stay positive. Thinking of you

    2. Laura in Ohio

      Dear Ingrid,
I’m back to comment to you. Hugs and prayers from me as well. May the Lord bless and watch over you. I, too, have friends and family that had breast cancer decades ago and are completely fine.

    3. Linda in St. Louis

Ingrid, prayers are coming your way ! I know the feeling of being told that I have cancer, and it has been quite an up and down experience. You feel so helpless but know that most of the time, you come out just fine. I am 5 years away from my breast cancer, and hardly know anyone who has not been touched by cancer at one time or another. Keep the faith and keep a positive outlook. Cancer research has come a long way!

    4. Joy in northern CA

Thinking of you always, Ingrid. I keep looking for new treatments on the Covid residuals of smell/taste . You’re in my thoughts.

    5. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Ingrid, send prayers and hugs your way. The Sofa Sisters are here for you.

    6. HI Ingrid,
I am certainly going to be keeping you in my prayers too… (the W word)…”waiting” is the second worst word and it’s almost as bad as the diagnosis… May the Lord comfort you and carry you through these trying times… and may you come out on the other side, whole and healed and very thankful!
      Love you Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    7. Charlotte Trayer

Will certainly keep you in my prayers, Ingrid. That is a scary word! It seems I’ve known a number of people who’ve been diagnosed with varying forms in the last couple of years, but all have come thru with flying colors, for which we are thankful!

  6. Still loving the blue outfit best. About the necklaces, can they be switched, the chain and cord? If the multi color pendant were on chain it could then be used with any color outfit. I love that it has purple, green, pink, yellow etc. The dream catcher already has a lot of silver and the chain seems a little heavy to me. The background of the pic’s are exceptional. I’d like to see a little more of the fountain, as one of the sofa sisters said it reminds you of the Spanish mission courtyards. Josephina beside the fountain instead of in front of it. You are so lucky to have so many choices for pictures to show off the outfits. Have a great day all.

What beautiful outside photos, Jeanne! Each one is prettier than the one before! I too, love the algae on the fountain, it just adds a rustic charm to it, and it looks like Josefina is at an old Spanish hacienda! It would be especially pretty if the fountain actually had water flowing through it.

The two outfits are just perfect for her! I love the way the rebozo goes so well with both skirts. I too, would put that second necklace up a bit higher. The blouse alone looks so cool and summery, while the rebozo looks completely warm and cozy!

The chickens are perfect as a photo opportunity for her, since Josefina has chickens in her stories. You have managed to put a bit of Mexico in Carbondale!

  8. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, Josefina looks very pretty in both outfits. You taught me a new word “rebozo.”

I am leaving on Sunday for the UFDC convention. The excitement mounts!

I so wish I could meet you there but these days I don’t fly (my claustrophobia won’t let me) and it’s a long drive. I was born in Baltimore but was only there for about three months. It was after the war and the hospitals were full with returning injured veterans so I was born “at home”. My mother was an Army nurse and moved to the home of a nurse friend who served with her to have me but then returned to Pottsville, PA, for five years until we moved to Bethlehem. I have been back to Baltimore a few times over the years but not recently. Hope you have an amazing time. Remember I’m living vicariously.

      1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, hello my Pennsylvania Sofa Sister. I don’t fly either. When a convention was in Salt Lake City a few years ago, a friend and I took the train.

We have found a location in Baltimore to take Afternoon Tea, Emma’s Teaspot. I will make a tea toast in your honor (smile).

One day we will meet. Jeanne will have a big party in her yard for the Sofa Sisters. She will haul out the sofa, on which we all sit. We will have a picnic. I might be inside for most of it because I don’t like bugs (laugh). We will have burgers (veggie ones for us vegetarians) with catsup (I think I am the only one who still says that) and salad and lemonade. I will supply the cake from a bakery, says the non-cook. What fun!

        1. Charlotte Trayer

That is going to have to be one BIG sofa, Dorothy!! (laugh) Wouldn’t it be great if we could really do that?!

  9. Barbara in SE Texas

What wonderful pictures. You have the best setting for outside dolly pictures. I love both outfits and their necklaces. How nice the rebozo goes so well with both. Great video. I take it Josefina wasn’t at all scared of the chickens. They are a bit bigger than she is.

Kathie’s Goodwill sounds like a lot of fun, especially if you are not pressed for time.

Happy birthday to both Deb and Alba. Hope they have a great day celebrating.

  10. Linda took my first comment right out of my mouth. Looking at the pictures by the fountain my first thought was Josefina is at her hacienda or an old Spanish mission. She looks beautiful in both those skirts and the rebozo turned out perfectly. The skirt makes me think of a New Mexican sunset The chickens are also indeed perfect for her.

    1. Laura in Ohio

I hope Deb and Alba have a wonderful birthday. Somehow I missed seeing that when I read the post the first time, but caught it when I came back.

  11. Kathie from Omaha

Dorothy have a great time at the UFDC Convention! I’m so jealous… but decided last year not to go to Baltimore😢. Keep us updated.
Josephina is adorable in all the variations. The colors are all so good together. Outside pictures couldn’t be better… the lighting and backgrounds blend so well.
    Wishes for another successful auction!

  12. Marilyn from Colorado

I think you found an excellent Josefina. Every picture shows off how beautiful she is. Both outfits suit her perfectly, and her new shawl goes well with both. You could sell packages of Anniversary Celebration outfits.

The fountain makes a lovely setting, and your favorite picture is also mine. But the one with the hibiscus might be better for the first Ebay picture because the pink-blue contrast is eye-catching. For now, I’m calling this Changes for Josefina.

  13. Absolutely magnificent outfits!!! Loved the pictures at the fountain. It’s as if Josefina is in a small quint Spanish or Mexican village. Your pictures are great!!
This is a winning outfit !! Jeanne, you’re amazing!!

  14. Sally from Colorado

Jeanne, as everyone has already said, your pictures of your beautiful doll in your beautiful yard are breathtakingly gorgeous. Got a real kick out of the chicken video. Thanks for your sense of aesthetics and fun! I like Marilyn’s idea of marketing your anniversary outfits as such. I actually wonder how well sales are going for Mattel on these.
Dorothy, have a ball in Baltimore. Have you purchased any convention souvenir dolls? Will you share with us what you saw and bought? Very excited for you!
Ingrid, I am very sorry about your loss of taste and smell from Covid, but you have a lot of company. While I never got Covid, thank goodness, and am vaccinated and STILL often wear a mask, I lost my sense of taste well before Covid ever came along. It is a real bummer. It does happen with a lot of seniors and I am one. After awhile, it does become “yesterday’s news”. Still missed, it takes a lot of pleasure out of eating, but it hasn’t stopped me from eating. Sigh.
Joy, crickets are singing and you have been keeping your buy button in check. No crickets here, and no keeping the buy button in check here. Another sigh.
Happy birthday to Deb and Alba.
    Sally

    1. Laura in Ohio

      Hi Sally,
You asked about AG sales for the 35 anniversary dolls? Felicity was the first to sell out, followed by Addy. They’re gone for good. I’m sure a lot of people missed out on those two if they were trying for more than one. You would have no idea who would sell out first or how fast, so you would have had to be ready with $900 if you wanted them all!
I also know some people initially hoped their would be a limited edition outfit as PC did back in 1997. I have Felicity’s Town Fair and Addy’s Stilting and my daughter has the Town Fair and Kirsten’s Skating. All lovely!

    2. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Sally, I did not purchase the souvenir doll. I did sign up for a Ruby Red Galleria meal event. A doll comes with that. I don’t collect that doll so I may not keep her.

I am looking for a BJD. I hope I find one I like in the salesroom.

I will send Jeanne a photo of convention activities. The excitement mounts!
