I finally got some slips listed in my Etsy shop… well, not all of them, but 8 are in there now… you can see them by clicking on the thumbnail icons at the right side bar… or you can click HERE.
I was busy doing alterations for Rebecca and also I had to help give Reuben a haircut! :o)
Oh goodie… Julia sent me pictures of the inside of her She Shed… it’s filled with lots of wonderful things to look at… please click on the pictures to make them bigger… you don’t want to miss anything…I also just copied what she said about each picture…
This is over the door. My son made it for me as a Christmas gift one year. One of the areas I haven’t painted.
Moving to the right. Vintage ironing board with original apple green paint. Nearly the same as the exterior green. That was as close to the color of jadeite depression glass as I could get. Picnic baskets and egg crate have crafting supplies.
Willow chair made in a class I took. Cushion cover is a vintage table cloth.
Colored glass I collect. Thrift store finds. I made the stain glass picture in the upper right at another class.
The south wall has 3 windows. The really tall blue bottle was my mom’s.
Cluttered corner of chicken figurines and more craft stuff.
My swing! It was on a metal frame and Hubs hung it from a rafter. The cushion has 2 things covering it. The light colored pink and green (are you sensing a theme?) is a curtain that was in son’s house. He didn’t want it. It’s on top of a brownish rose table cloth which may or may not be vintage. I plan to sew a cushion cover using one for the front and one for the back.
Rug with bored dog. 😄 I got this on Facebook marketplace. Things keep changing. I swap stuff in and out. It never looks the same 2 years in a row.
Well, I have to get to bed… I have a luncheon tomorrow at 1:00, I have to work at the Food Pantry at 3:00 and finish getting things organized and planned for the Going Away party Saturday night…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh Julia, all the beautiful glass and knick knacks in your she shed! I would be worried to death, if I saw that huge tree on top of it, knowing what was inside! Didn’t you heart skip a beat when you saw that? Did anything break? What a wonderful collection you have around you when you sit in there and relax and get away from the stress of everyday life!
Can you actually sit on that willow chair? I love it! You are so very talented in the things you have made, and are so lucky to have a place like this to display them and to relax in. The stained glass piece is beautiful, and would be so intersting to make! I majored in art in college, but never got to make something like that!
The antique ironing board is a clever way to display your treasures, and of course the sweet sign your son made says it all! Even in the “right” colors!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Yes, you can sit on the willow chair! 😊
And the race is on…Buttons and Bows has one bid already!!
Julia, it was such fun to see the inside of your she-shed! Thank you! You are certainly a woman of many interests and talents–a willow chair, stained glass….and of course sewing. And then your collections of depression glass and chickens. But for me the highlight was the swing!! Lucky you!!! (covet covet…)
Congrats Jeanne on the bid for Samantha’s sweet dress and for getting the slips listed. Yay!
Julia’s second home is filled with such treasures. Just my cup of tea. I have a lot of similar items lurking around our garage, not in the playhouse here though. Julia’s fun space is giving me lots of ideas. So many fun things to view. I’ve always wanted a metal egg basket to remind me of the 500 chickens my grandparents raised in their backyard during the Depression. I’m going to find a reasonably priced one some day. 🙂 The willow chair looks like such a wonderful place to compile thoughts and view the world through the rainbow colors of those lovely collected vases. Believe it or not, I too have a swing. Again, not in the playhouse, but sitting in the yard collecting leaves and branches. It has a metal frame and at one time sported a nice recovering job with Sunbrella fabric that I did many years ago. Other person has threatened to get rid of it many times, but it brings back childhood memories for me of the one we had while I was growing up. I would love to fix it up once again. Thanks so much Julia for allowing us to see your special She Shed and all of the wonderful things you have created. You have great talent. 🙂
Such fun, indeed! How lovely to have all those things where you can relax and enjoy them — and change them so it is always new. I really enjoyed your shed.
I agree with Linda — it must have been frightening to see that branch on top of the shed and wonder how much damage it might have caused.
I am glad my sofa sisters enjoyed the tour! When the branch crashed through the roof, very few things actually broke. Well, besides the roof. The hole let in the rain which made the mess even messier. None of the windows even cracked! For one thing, the shelf in the middle of the windows was not there and only a few things were on the window sills. Things that cracked or chipped just went back where they were. I did lose a red wing plate and a Fenton vase my mom thrifted for me so I’m on the hunt to replace those. Everything that has any sentimental value now stays in the house!
What a special place Julia has to hang out and chill or work on projects. I love all the windows and they show off the glass collection so nicely. And all the different objects and techniques displaying her many talents! My husband took stained glass classes once. He loved it and hopes to get back to it as soon as he has more of his have-to projects finished. Thanks so much for sharing Julia.
I’ve always wanted a porch swing but rarely had the porch to put one on. I have bought two free standing swings for our backyard over the years but they didn’t hold up well – not to mention the fact that there is so little time here when it’s nice to sit outside and read or work on things like smocking, etc. And the idea of sitting outside to crochet here is a no-go. The heat is bad enough but the humidity makes it hard for the yarn to slide easily.
Jeanne you said you’d like to crochet some sweaters. Pixie Faire has several crochet patterns for all size dolls. I have some of them and I saw many new ones when I was looking yesterday. The Cobblestone sweater has three different types – long sleeve, short sleeve, no sleeve vest type and comes in both 14″ and 18″ sizes.
Joy I left you a message yesterday about the Maypole I bought. It’s great for the smaller dolls. Those around 8″ and smaller. I need one more doll of that size. I’m waiting for the Little Charming website to be up and running to buy another.
David and Sean are on their way back from their out-of-town job. Yesterday was an “if it can go wrong it will” sort of day. Then I had to call the bank this morning to report his debit card as lost. He thinks he left it in the restaurant last evening but they say they don’t have it. The person who checked them out wasn’t there this morning. If it doesn’t show up he’ll have to go to the bank this afternoon for another.
Right now I’m playing Marian the Librarian. It’s something I’ve needed to do for a few years. I’ve had boxes of books I’ve read sitting on the floor of my study. They need to be catalogued and put in the storage room. It appears my dream of having a dedicated library will not reach fruition anytime soon. I have a couple bookshelves of unread books and they’re overflowing. David is a prolific reader and we don’t usually like the same reading material so we were getting overwhelmed. I bought him a Nook a few years ago and he’s been in Heaven since. He can read as many books as he likes and storage is no problem. But I’m a true bibliophile. I need to hold the book in my hands. But I only read before I go to sleep and that sometimes means only a few pages at a time so it takes me longer to get through a book. A few years ago we went to regular book signings at a bookstore in Houston. We have books signed by Clive Cussler, Anne Perry, Robert B. Parker and several others. Those don’t go to storage.
I just looked up the Maypole. Adorable! Thanks.
What a wonderful, fabulous She Shed !! Julia you ROCK !
It was really exciting to view all your interesting items and some of your keepsakes. It is all so beautiful, especially the colorful glass in the windows and the items you made!
I think I love the bored doggie the best!! LOL. Really… what a nice little visitor to have cine once in awhile.
I also love the old green ironing board. That is really cool.
Thank you for sharing Julia. I wish you many happy hours in your She Shed.
Can we see Reuben’s haircut, please? 🙂 I used to have a cute dog and duck statue like the one you posted the other day. I like the picture where both dolls are touching either the dog or the duck. I think one is hugging one so sweetly. And I liked it when the bigger doll was holding the smaller one. So nice.
It is fun to see inside of Julia’s She Shed! What a great idea! It reminds me of a private Clubhouse or Playhouse.
Yesterday was my birthday and I enjoyed spending it with our girls at thrift stores. My husband’s father got me an Oreo ice cream cake, and he said I didn’t have to share it with anyone! (But that would have been too mean, hehe.). Marion found a loong ribbon attached to a wand, which reminded her of Angelina the Ballerina Mouse, and she thoroughly enjoyed twirling and dancing with it. She sang, “I am dancing on Mommy’s birthday!” over and over. So sweet.
Oh, also, the boss at a thrift store (inside of an old house) sang me Happy Birthday to Mommy with the kids, and someone there gave me a sprinkled Angel Food cake! I used to always choose that kind when I was a kid 🙂
Happy birthday, Karen! Sounds like you had a great day!
An Oreo ice cream cake? Sounds like a winner to me! Yum!
Thank you, Charlotte! =)
(Marion’s ribbon reminded me of the May Pole 🙂 )
Wow. So much in the past few days! You women are amazing.
JULIA, what fun to see your “happy house” and how fortunate you are to have that space! It is so cozy and full of things you love, including the dog who was not so likely bored as totally happy chilling out in your terrific space. Also, reading about the different classes you have taken and seeing your end products is very inspiring. I would dearly love to do stained glass. My hands aren’t terribly steady though. Would that make a ton of difference, do you think? Thanks a million for sharing this.
KAREN, happy birthday! Your Oreo cake made me think of the fried Oreo cookies some of our grandkids had at the restaurant yesterday. Hope you enjoyed yours as much as they did theirs.
JEANNE, congrats on the gift certificate win. I think we all love going into fabric stores to enjoy the colors and the FEEL of the fabrics. A sensory feast. Very happy the roof project is done and sewing room free of “fallout” . So happy to see the Samantha ensemble on auction and good luck. I truly like what is going on with it, and my Samantha is hoping for it. She needs it like a hole in the head, but still, she has great taste.
Been on family vacation back east for a few weeks and heading back to Salida n Monday. Looking forward to seeing all the goodies that have been delivered. Ho-ho! Old Sal has been bad to the bone. Not much new about that, though.
I so enjoy reading about you ladies, your projects, your family news.
Thank you, Sally! The Oreo ice cream cake is delicious! I enjoy reading what you write because your enthusiasm and excitement for things shine through :). Hope you have a great night!
Oh, gee, thanks, Karen. You made me smile, and yes, we all had a very nice evening last night. Hope you did, too! 😊
