I’m tired of sewing dolly slips… Let’s have a GIVEAWAY!!

DON’T FORGET:
The green romper/skirt set, “Farmer’s Market” for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls ends this evening on Ebay. I have to tell you the number of hits on this set has been over the top…as of the writing of this blog (midnight, Friday evening) there are 836 hits and 64 watchers! There is something incredible with these Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls…I knew I had a high number of hits on something recently and looked back through my notebooks to see what it was… and it was Sara, my blonde Ruby Red doll, in the yellow and blue floral dress…”Spring Chic.” I set a record for most views on an auction with it… 870! This just might break that record since I still have until Saturday evening before it ends… so we shall see… I’ll let you know if it goes higher… Oh and if you want to check it out, you can click on the picture at the right side bar, or you click HERE. Hope to see you at the finish line! :o)

I spent the whole day (except when I was working at the Food Pantry) making doll slips!! I can honestly say I’m tired of making them…. well, not really, I enjoyed it for the most part; trying to get something made for each of my doll sizes…but I did just realize as I was typing this, I left out Nyssa. It’s just not real creative for me… the same thing over and over again…

Several of the slips fit different dolls, so if you see something on one doll, it may work for someone else…
I plan on making more slips so I’ll have some for the 4th of July…IF they last that long…

If you want to be in the drawing for a slip Giveaway, just put in your comments below, what doll you have that you’d like to see wearing a slip… by MIDNIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT. (CENTRAL TIME ZONE)

You can also email me if you’d like to enter the Giveaway…

I’ll post the winner Monday… and then the rest of the slips will be up for sale…

I took a few group shots and then some individual pictures of the girls… Hope you see the one you’d like to win in the bunch…

It was a little bit chaotic getting the girls to line up, but we eventually got it…

If you click on the pictures, they will enlarge.

See, I knew they could do it…

Here are the 18″ American Girls in their slips…

Then the 14.5″ Ruby Red Fashion Friends were next…

Janie and Emmie, my 13″ Little Darlings were next…

10″ Patsy Tonner, 8″ Ten Ping and 10″ Noel, a Boneka doll are up next…

…and 11″ Bailey and 6 1/2″ Navi are finishing up things… I actually got 3 slips made for Navi…

Okay, let the Giveaway begin…and have a WONDERFUL Memorial Day weekend!

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

That is an impressive number of hits on the Stella outfit, Jeanne–and well worth it, too! Also bids…plenty of those!!

I’m with you–I like to make a variety of things. I still haven’t finished all the short overalls for my 7 LDs, and summer is fast approaching! But, I got bored….So now I’m finishing a smocked dress from Martha Pullen’s doll book (published maybe 20 years ago?), which I started probably after I got my first LD, and then stalled on it for various reasons. All I have left to do now is the snaps, so I’m almost done–yay!

I did comment tonight on Marilyn’s post–congratulating her on recovering after such a very long haul she had!! I know we are all glad to have her back on our sofa sisters’ sofa again!

Now…slips….I would love to have one for my RRFF dolls, or for my LDs. Of course, whichever size, the girls would have to take turns wearing it! Thanks for having a giveaway!

Charlotte, I sure wish you lived closer to me. I would love to have you teach me how to smock so I have some confidence doing it. I took lessons about nine years ago so I could make a smocked dress for my granddaughter. I’ve taken geometric and picture smocking from this lady because she is the only one in the area who teaches it but she’s a terrible teacher. If you do something wrong she can’t seem to tell you what happened just to pull it out and start again. Problem is not knowing what the mistake was you just make it again. Then she lost patience with me because I just went home and figured it out myself. That was pretty easy with geometric smocking but she got me so intimidated on picture smocking that I haven’t picked it up since. I think I have the Martha Pullen book you have and I have several of the LD smocked dress patterns so I really need to get back to smocking again because I really did enjoy it. And I did get the dress made and my granddaughter looked adorable wearing it.

Barbara, it would be great if we lived closer! I have to confess, I have only “dabbled” in picture smocking; I really need to work on that myself! But I do a lot of geometric smocking. I belong to SAGA (Smocking Arts Guild of America) and at one time we had a chapter right here in my area. After a time, though, our chapter didn’t grow, and we had all taken turns being officers, so we decided to disband as a chapter. However, we still are doing Wee Care gowns for the local hospital (at least some of us are), and we had an outdoor get-together last summer. We are talking some about meeting for dinner next month (we used to go out for dinner in June and Dec.), but I haven’t heard any more about that yet, so will have to see.

Anyway, check out SAGA–website is http://www.smocking.org as they have tutorials and lessons (look under “education”), many of which are free even if you are not a SAGA member! You can also find a chapter in your area, if you are interested, by going to this site.

By the way, Wee Care gowns are done primarily for bereavement, to be either used as a burial gown or saved as a keepsake, and we make them in sizes from newborn down to “extra tiny” (under 1 pound). I’m not really sure how many I’ve made in the last 15 years or so–at least two dozen, but likely more. I didn’t start taking pictures of what I made until a few years ago. In recent years, I’ve averaged 2-4 gowns per year.

If you would like to email me privately, I give Jeanne permission to send you my email address.

Well, I replied once, and it disappeared! (Maybe was sent for approval, since it contained a link?) So will try again.

Barbara, it would be great fun to be neighbors! And, yes, do get back to smocking; it’s fun and also relaxing. I have to confess, I’ve only “dabbled” at picture smocking; that is something I really should try to work on more, at least do some samples so I can say I know how!

You might go to the SAGA (Smocking Arts Guild of America) website: smocking.org. They have a lot of free tutorials and educational materials. Just click on “education”. You can also find out if there is a chapter in your area; it’s quite helpful to belong to a group of smockers, who can help and encourage you along the way.

I’m a member of SAGA, and for a number of years, we had a chapter in our area. However, our membership had kind of stalled, and we had all taken turns at the various offices, so we decided to disband our chapter. We still are in touch (most of us), and last summer got together in one lady’s yard, so we had a chance to see each other. We are also still making Wee Care gowns for the local hospital. They are for bereavement–either as burial gowns or keepsakes for the parents. We make them in sizes from newborn down to extra-tiny (under 1 pound). It’s a good place to practice our geometric smocking, and the parents are so appreciative (we do occasionally get a little feedback).

If you would like to email me privately, I am fine with Jeanne giving you my email address.

  2. Jeanne, you brought me “out of the woodwork” for a slip drawing! I would love the one on your Emmie Little Darling!
Have a great holiday weekend and take some time for you!
    hugs,
    Sissy

  3. So many slips!!! … but they all look so coordinated! Lol
My Sara and Bella say they would share the slip if they won.
Congratulations on all the hits for your auction! That’s amazing, but not surprised as you’ve created an adorable outfit. There will probably be a mad scramble to outbid at the end! Congratulations!

  4. Hi Jeanne,
Thank you so much for sending me your blog. I enjoy them very much. I would love to participate in your “Dolly Slip Giveaway.” The slip I would like is for my 14 1/2” Ruby Red FF dolls. In the event the RRFF doll slips are gone one of the Little Darling slips would be great. Enjoy your weekend and your new projects..

    Regards,
    Nan

  5. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I am up early because I have to go to an Memorial Day program, otherwise, this night owl would still be in dream land (laugh).

My girls cannot decide who should get the slip. My Little Darlings say, “meeeee!” and my sweet little Lace (Lati Yellow Lea – 6 inches – Navi size), says, “no meeeee!” I told them I would let Auntie Jeanne decide if we win.

Wishing you and the Sofa Sisters a wonderful end of May weekend.

  6. Good morning! Thank you for the fun Giveaway! You sure made a lot of slips. It would be great to win an 18 inch one. Thank you! Happy Memorial Day weekend!

  7. Good morning Jeanne. I wanted to let you know I haven’t forgotten about you. I have a big project going on at work and don’t have much spare time for blog reading. I’m off today and trying to catch up on a few things. I think you have picked a winner with the Ruby Red Fashion dolls. The outfits you have made for them have done so well which is awesome.

Good job on all the little slips. If I were to win one, I think I would choose a Little Darling one.

  8. Ha ha! The first two pics remind me of Ring Around the Rosy, All Fall Down! How fun to see all of the sweet girls standing. Such a feat. And the festive slips in all sizes are wonderful. I’m sure whatever size is chosen by the winner will be result in a happy dolly somewhere.
Can’t wait to see the auction outcome. Stella’s Romper is so adorable.

  9. Debbie from Tennessee

Jeanne, I hope you break a record with “Farmer’s Market” tonight! My 18 inch Molly would be happy to celebrate the 4th of July in a festive slip. I love seeing all of your dolls modeling these patriotic slips.
    Have a great weekend everyone!

  10. Kathie from Nebraska

The slip pictures are a hoot! All the girls standing there look like a club.
My RRFF or Little Darling would be thrilled with a slip!
Enjoy the long weekend and remember our brave soldiers.

  11. Linda G from MN

Jeanne, you are a Busy Bee! Doll clothes, kitchen remodel, food shelve and give aways! All done with excellence and flare!
My 11 year old self would have loved one of the “crinolines” as we called them back then…..the fuller the dress, the better. Now I have to sublimate that urge into the 18 inch doll friends. Please put my name in the drawing for a slip.
Best wishes for breaking all records on the bidding tonight!

  12. Sally from Colorado

Good morning everyone and happy Memorial weekend!
Jeanne, you take the BEST pictures and how fun to have so many slips. Certainly we can understand getting burned out after making so many.
My request would be for RRFF. I haven’t told them; don’t want to get hopes up, you know?
As for the auction. Haha! This IS mega-exciting and lots of us will be there for the finish. Looks like a huge “Ya-hoo!” coming your way. Sure hope so.
Marilyn, sounds like you have a lot to be grateful for after that long, long period of health issues. Good for you for getting out of the tunnel and back into your groove. Keep up the good work.
    Good luck, everyone! 🍀

  13. Laura in Ohio

Yes, I went back and saw Marilyn’s comment. I’m also happy that she is back on the sofa with us.

Thank you for having another giveaway. How fun! All the dollies in their slips are so cute and patriotic. Do you use two different kinds of tulle, Jeanne. One look like it has more blue starts than the other.
Well, except for a few of my mom’s childhood dolls and my two that don’t ever change clothes there are only PC/AG girls here.
I love the slip Chrissa is wearing with its blue stars sprinkled across it.

  14. Barbara in SE Texas

Looks like your “Farmer’s Market” outfit is going to do you proud. And why not. It’s beyond adorable – not to mention totally functional. Can’t wait to see the outcome.

My RRFF girls have decided the slip should be theirs. They are in the room drawing straws to see who gets to wear it first if they win. I think the RRFF dolls are winners because they always look so sweet and cheerful, they are a manageable size and the best part is the price is right. You can afford to buy them and dress them too.

Marilyn, I remember your empty spot on the sofa and was so glad when you returned to fill it. Your fellow sofa sisters were taking turns keeping it warm for you. We knew you would be back. Your recovery assured me there are definitely such things as miracles and answered prayer.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. I’m sure glad we didn’t plan anything to take place in our backyard. It’s rained so much lately the mosquitos are out of control and they have proboscises that are akin to upholstery needles and leave welts. The sprayers haven’t come through yet because it keeps raining. And the grass is also out of control because it won’t stop raining long enough to mow it. We’ll probably have weeks of no rain once it stops and the grass will look like shredded wheat and won’t need mowing and there will be a lot of dust and it will be hot and humid. Just another summer in SE Texas. Is it October yet?

  15. I have 18 inch AG and off brand dolls, 2 Wellie Wishers, some off brand 14 inch dolls, some 15 inch Velvet and friends dolls, and a 16 inch Shirley Temple doll. Any one of them would love to have a new slip.

  16. HI everyone,
Just chiming in here real quick… well, I did break that record… the hits are now at 931!
I have been compiling a list of the people entering the drawing and which doll they’d like to see in a slip. This is so much fun for me too…
Gotta give my hubby a hair cut right now…
    Bye, Jeanne

  17. Anne Coldron in New Zealand

Wow Jeanne I saw there were 14 bids a few mins ago but it is such a lovely outfit with so many options. Well done.
Good luck to everyone who is in the draw for the slip i am sure whoever wins it will have a very happy doll.
Well our drought has broken well and truly. Masses of rain and wind overnight I won’t be taking the dog for a walk today! Glad it is this weekend and not next weekend when it is a holiday.
We had a ‘Noughties’ birthday party last night for a few of us. Sam was 50 last week, our good friend Margaret will be 70 later this year, her husband was 60 last month and another friend, Tony was 70 last month. It was just 5 of us two people weren’t able to come. We had a good time though. Jeanne, I will send a photo someone took with my phone.
Have a great memorial day people, I am off to brave the wind and rain to go to church shortly.

  18. Marilyn from Colorado

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes, while I was sick and now. The people at the hospice/rehab center were quite pleased. It must be encouraging to fight a winning battle.

Congratulations, Anne, on the rain. Here in Boulder, we have a big Creek Festival along Boulder Creek and a Saturday Farmers’ Market. The market is on Saturday morning, and may be damp. The Festival is rained out, year after year. Parking is impossible, so wet people have a ways to walk in the rain. All the flowers in the cemeteries get quite wet as well and often are eaten by deer. Mountain lion and bear warnings are posted by the cemetery when relevant. I have also seen groups of vultures shouldering each other aside there.

Congratulations on breaking your record, Jeanne. I do love wildly active endings (preferably when I’m not bidding), and I don’t have a RRFF, so I’m anticipating a nice, active ending to this auction. Good luck!

  19. Still watching the latest auction. 23 minutes, it could go higher yet. 🙂 As for the slip, I’d like to try for one for the 18″ girls. It might work for my big Stella. 🙂
