Thanks for all the birthday wishes for my hubby yesterday… I think he had a great day… fellowship with the kids, fun conversations and FOOD… in the form of steaks, BLT salad, green beans and roasted baby potatoes! Then chocolate fudge cake with ice cream! Plus he got chocolate from Rebecca, Kristoffer AND me! Kristoffer stayed late, till almost 9:30, and it was too late to start anything… so I never got to your comments…
My hubby was was born the day before St. Patrick’s day and his middle name just so happens to be Patrick! :o)
Who has on their green today? Anyone?
Well, Linda sent me some pictures of her girls dressed up for the special day… as always, they are as cute as can be…even the doggies got in on the green! :o)
…and Susette sent me some “green” girls too…these pictures were from St. Patrick’s Day 4 years ago when her granddaughter Riya was younger.
Riya asked for a white dress with puffy sleeves, a flared skirt with a high waist, ruffles down the front and three buttons on the front. She couldn’t find shamrock buttons, so they are charms. This is what Susette came up with… I’m pretty she nailed it for Riya! :o)
She made the vest because she said the coat was very difficult to put on.
Another charm decorates the hat.
Susette made the coat, copied from an adult pattern. Her doll is on the right in a dress made from a pattern and she designed the waist cincher.
Susette made the clothes for the two dolls on the left. The doll on the right is wearing an American Girl Irish outfit.
Well now, let’s see… have “I” ever made any GREEN dresses? I think so…
Here’s Riley in a fun sunflower print… oh how I sometimes wish I had her still… I see things in my sewing that I would change… for one thing “shorten” that dress!!! I know you all would agree on that, because even “I” do!
Here’s Patsy Tonner in a pretty apple green set…
Next is Bitty Bethany showing off her green dress…
…and another one for Bitty Bethany…
Song, one of the Chrysalis dolls, by Helen Kish, shows she can wear green just as well as anyone else…
Caroline, Elizabeth and Felicity show you how they look in this pretty green dress…
This is Felicity in a pretty green dress called Colonial Charm…
Here is Josefina in a “bit” of green…
Isabelle was blessed with a dress from that apple green fabric like Patsy’s dress…
Janie in her earlier days with me… in a fun chartreuse green set…
Josefina decided to be a “70’s” girl for this photo session…
Molly has a green dress to show you…and some little birdies…
My pictures were pretty terrible of Samantha years ago… but she wanted to show you this green Gibson Girl dress…
…and…it’s time for bed… Have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a fun post! Thank you, Linda and Susette, for sharing pictures of your girls dressed in green!! The outfits and scenes are all wonderful.
Jeanne, it was fun to see the many outfits of green/green combos that you made Some I remember, some I don’t. I think my favorite is Janie’s dress, although I do like Molly’s dress and Bitty Bethany’s jumper ensemble quite a lot, too.
In response to Ingrid’s comment yesterday about her senses of smell and taste still being affected: I have heard that there is some “therapy” you can do with essential oils, sniffing certain ones for, I think, 20 seconds at a time, several times a day. Apparently it helps “wake up” those senses faster than Not doing it would. You might try doing a little research and see what you can find out about essential oil fragrance therapy post-Covid.
Will I be wearing green? Possibly, but, truth to tell, I haven’t a single speck of Irish in me, of that I’m quite sure, because ALL of my great-grandparents came from Sweden! So wearing green isn’t something I particularly think about at all on March 17th!
Hi Charlotte,
Right after I lost my sense of taste and smell and the covid positive test result, I went research crazy. What I found made me rather sad. I didn’t want to be among the few that would never get their sense of smell and taste back. I decided prayer and patience were in order. Essential oil therapy sounds like something I need to try, it certainly won’t hurt. I’m definitely going to look into that. Thanks again for thinking of me dear Charlotte.
You are welcome, Ingrid. It’s something I heard mentioned in conversation, and thought it might be worth remembering, just in case!! I do hope it works for you.
Well, “Top ‘O the Mornin’ to you, Jeanne and everyone! I loved seeing Susette’s dolls and their wonderful St. Patrick’s outfits!
I loved seeing all your green dresses, and I do remember a lot of them, but oh, that beautiful “Colonial Charm” that Felicity is wearing takes the first prize! All that delicate lace and the those ruffles, just look like a heavenly cloud on her!
Am I Irish, with a last name like Doyle? Well, I am just a bit, but of course that’s my husband’s name, and his father was the first person of his family to be born here, so he is way more Irish than I will ever be! Also, his mother is a Murphy, so…..there you go!This is a big day for his side of the family!
So, George’s middle name is Patrick? Our son is Brian Patrick! It seems to be a popular name even for those who are NOT Irish! Now to put on something green and make some Irish Soda Bread today!
Happy Birthday George!
I always love seeing dolls (and dogs!) dressed up for a particular holiday. 💚🍀 Clicking to see everything enlarged!
Wonderful pictures from Linda and Susette. What a lovely little ensemble Susette created for her granddaughter Riya. And that wonderful coat! Wow! And the waist cincher is very authentic looking. Linda always manages to get her holiday pictures taken and off to you. So glad she’s on top of things. For me any of the holidays are here before I know it and I didn’t get my pictures taken. I have four of my smaller dolls wearing the green but didn’t think to take a picture. I might do that today. Is it too late to contribute?
Wonderful pictures of all your creations, Jeanne. I love the sweet picture of Molly in front of her home. And the little birdies are such a nice touch. I love all the outfits especially Bitty Bethany’s with the cute hat. And I really like Josefina as a modern girl. She really pulls it off.
I always say I’m of Celtic heritage. It’s easier than saying I’m Irish, Scottish and Welsh mostly. Funny thing is that I rarely wear anything green. I guess I’ll have to search my closet because I can’t offhand think of anything that I have that’s green.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all the sofa sisters!!!
Hi Barbara,
Just saw you’re Irish, Scottish, and Welsh. We must be distantly related. LOL
Of course it not too late to show your dollies off. I’m sure we would all love to see them.
Barbara and Laura, I’m Irish and Welsh too. Of course, I’d have to throw in the English, German, French, Danish, Swedish, and Finnish for good measure. 🙂 Ha ha
Dear Barbara, I was having a “duh” day yesterday. I thought you were saying it was YOUR husband’s birthday. Sorry about that.
How fun!
A little late as I was putting the corned beef into the crockpot. 🙂
Loved seeing Linda’s “Doyle” scene. Great props and cute pups dressed up too.
When I saw Riya’s dress, I was under the impression that it was for her. So cute. Then in the next photo saw that it was really for an AG girl. 🙂 It really would be an adorable outfit for a “real” girl too. All of Susette’s kids looks great and ready to search for that elusive pot of gold.
Jeanne’s Greens are all lovely. I especially like Bitty Bethany in that adorable sleeveless dress with the yellow piping. Simple and perfect for those warm days ahead. I think a Meadow girl would love a dress in that style. 🙂
Sounds like George’s birthday celebration was a grand one. Nothing like a little chocolate! 🙂
Hope everyone is wearing their green today. Have fun. 🙂
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone. What a lovely way to celebrate. Everyone’s pictures are lovely, but I think Susette’s picture of Kit is one of my very favorites — the outfit and the doll are perfect together. Somehow Kit always makes it clear when she likes something — she looks happy and interested. In the books, she seems not interested in clothes, but here, and apparently at Susette’s, she’s very interested.
I like Linda’s comment about the cloud-like appearance of Felicity’s skirt. I was quite surprised to like Molly’s dress so much — that’s more the style I grew up with and I never liked it, but in this fabric, I do.
It’s time to cook the corned beef and cabbage, something I seldom do, but I thought I’d give it a try this year.
What a wonderful show of green today. I always love Linda’s pictures of her girls dressed up for some occasion and Jeanne, it’s always fun to see your girls modeling any of the outfits you make. Molly’s outfit is adorable and love those Caroline and Felicity gowns. Chrysalis dill’s outfit is very unique. She’s a pretty doll too.
Susette, your girls are just lovely in those outfits. They are sensational. The ones you made are really unique. That coat is really beautiful and I love the dresses!
Boy, was I confused on the date of St. Patrick Day. Very embarrassing! Lately, my days have really been off !
Hi Paula,
No big deal. I actually think in Ireland you probably do wish a Happy St. Patrick’s Day a day or two ahead. It’s a big celebration. I said the same thing yesterday in case I couldn’t comment today.
I view it like we wish everyone Merry Christmas the entire month of December and up until Epiphany.
First, somehow I missed commenting on Joy’ Carter’s cute little green cow yesterday. He is so cute and I love the fact he has an outfit to wear.
Hello – Dia duit. (Irish -literally “may God be with you”), everyone
Definitely wearing the green today. I have quite a bit of Irish, relatives hailing from five different regions,(of course with some Scottish, Welsh, and English thrown in since it all so close together).
We can always count on Linda to have her girls properly attired for the holiday. Love seeing the dogs joining in on the fun.
Susette, what a great job you did on those doll dresses. The one on Samantha (or maybe it a TM) is gorgeous. You even have green shoes to match.
So fun to see all the green dresses you have made, Jeanne. My favorite would have to be the ones on Caroline and Felicity. I’m sure no surprise there.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
Happy St. Paddys Day Everyone!
I was trying to sneak a quick peek before Dominic saw me. Oohhh pictures! My favorite. I’m going to have to come back later and take my time. Dominic keeps touching the keyboard because he wants attention.
I loved seeing all the pictures today. I tried to comment on yesterdays post but if it made it on there I couldn’t see it.
Well it worked today, I wonder what I did differently. Today I have to be out shortly so no time to comment.
Thanks for the nice compliments. I really enjoy making a few doll clothes. Jeanne always amazes me with all the hundreds of dresses she’s made over the years, every on unique! I always think I must have seen them all but there’s always st least one I haven’t seen before. Linda’s scenes are always so much fun and have to be enlarged to see all the details. Thanks for sharing them.
I celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by turning back into a redhead at the beauty shop today. Not ever going gray again! I went two weeks after the second vaccination. The appointment just happened to be on the 17th.
Dear Jeanne, I clearly was not paying attention yesterday. Happy Birthday to YOUR husband, on day late.
As I mentioned to Barbara, I was having a “duh” day yesterday. I had one today also.
I signed up for an OLLI class in Arizona. It was supposed to begin at 12:30. I figured that meant 2:30 pm PA time. Well, when I Zoomed in, no one was there. I thought that was odd. I did a Google search for the time in Arizona. It said 11:30. How can that be, I thought, Google must be wrong so I called my friend Ronda. She told me that Arizona did not follow Daylight Savings Time. Well, duh on me. I must have missed that in 8th grade Civics class. I was definitely early for class.
