Well, this has certainly been a fun one to watch… auction on Ebay, I mean… I mentioned in my listing of the Emily, Ashton Drake doll, by Dianna Effner, that if the bidding went to $75, I’d make her another dress from my favorite pink fabric… and for most of the day it stayed at $73. I didn’t want to presume and cut into my fabric if it wasn’t necessary, but then there were a series of jumps in the price and I realized early this evening, I’d be cutting into that fabric after all. Here is a screen shot on my phone of the listing…
Yes, you’re seeing that right… 809 views!… and 49 watchers! It looks like Emily has an opportunity to be adopted by plenty of doll lovers out there!
I just got a quick start on her dress… since it ends tomorrow night and won’t get mailed until Monday morning, I decided I better make better use of my time and work on Sara’s set…
This is Emily showing you how pretty she looks in the fabric…
I wanted to make Sara a slip for underneath her dress to hold it out just a little bit…
It worked perfectly!
I also decided she needed a purse to go with her coat and dress set…
I’ve used this black with white polka dots corduroy for purses I can’t tell you how many times…
Sara likes it…
There was one little pile of snow in our yard and I wanted to take some outside pictures of her beside it, but it started raining and poof, it disappeared…
“Thanks for my purse and slip, mom!”
The “plan” is to get it listed on Ebay Saturday evening… let’s hope nothing gets in my way…
Thanks for all your compliments on her set yesterday. It was another busy day and I didn’t even make it into my sewing room until sometime after 9 p.m.
Have a wonderful weekend…
See you Monday, or maybe at the finish line on Ebay! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
I saw that the bids for Emily have skyrocketed! Fabulous! I like the start to her dress, too, and the nice lace collar you’ve given it. I’m sure she’ll love it.
You know, I have to admit, I was a bit worried about that black and white polka dot trim on the hat of Sara’s set. But tonight you added the matching purse, and there you are, a complete set, all beautifully coordinated. Absolutely gorgeous. Wait, I think I said that yesterday! Still true!!!
Last night Pastor called and asked if I could play piano for church this Sunday, so I knew there would be no trips to other fabric stores, etc., today. So, I went to the church prepared, and, after I practiced for an hour or so, I used the nice big table in the basement, set out my (cardboard) cutting board on top, and cut out a couple of tops for myself! One is long-sleeved, but of lighter-weight fabric, so will be for spring; the other is definitely summer. So…no outing, but still some sewing stuff.
Best of all, my friend Tonya, who I originally met in a class at Expo several years ago, called tonight and we had a nice long visit. She is doing the “virtual” Expo, and seems quite happy with it. We discussed doing another “twinsie” top for next year (we have purposefully bought identical fabrics and made tops–or, in one case, bags–to wear/bring to the following Expo, for the last several Expos. Last year we made and brought with bags of matching fabrics; the year before, it was tops of identical fleece. We had gotten boiled wool blend for jackets for this year, so I guess we’ll have to bring those next year, too! This time we both bought (online) some lovely bamboo/cotton sweatshirt fleece in a cornflower blue!
HI Charlotte,
You should see the views on Emily now… 922!!! I never would have dreamed it!! This is a new record for me…
I’m glad you like the purple coat set… and the black and white polka dots added in! I wish you could see it in person… being a purple person, I know you’d give it a thumbs up! :o)
Sorry you missed out on more shopping, but good for you at getting some cutting out done…. now all you have to do is SEW THEM UP!
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
I think the outfit for Sara is wonderful! Would you share with me how to make the slip? It is so pretty. Thank you. Janet
HI Janet,
I have it down to do a tutorial on the slips with the drop yoke… and will get to as soon as I can… Thanks so much!
Blessings, Jeanne
Lucky Emily gets a dress out of THE favorite fabric of pretty much everyone!
I didn’t realize the hat bow was polka dotted. I thought you sewed beads on it. It wasn’t until Charlotte mentioned it that l realized. “Oh, polka dots!”
We are off to Mankato. Hope do a bit of thrifting!
I immediately had to look up Mankato and found that they have a Joann’s as well as a lot of other interesting things. Hope you find lots of fun stuff.
Mankato … Little House country. Have fun, Julia, hope you find some great things.
Yes, Emily gets a pink dress… but I waited to see if the dress was definitely going over the $75, and when it did, I decided it was safe to cut a dress out… I hope the winner likes it as much as I do!
I hope you found lots of little treasures (or BIG ones) on your thrift shop outing! I would love to have tagged along! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi,
I think Emily is doing so well because your photos are so pleasing, just makes you want to click to see the rest of the post. If you look at the others, they are not so well done. Of coarse the price helps too. Yours is a lot more reasonable. Good Luck with the sale!
Thank you Sylvia,
I have a great software program that allows me to make my listings that way. I do think it helps to have nice clear pictures of what you are selling… and I try to show every little detail so the buyer knows exactly what they are getting if they win.
Thanks so much!
Blessings, Jeanne
Great news on the auction. I’m sure Emily will look lovely in her new dress. 🙂
Love the photos that show all of the special pieces in Sara’s new outfit. I’m sure it will also do well.
Spent most of yesterday moving things and digging out my two old Ginny wardrobes made by my grandfather. We’re taking them to grand in celebration of her 8th birthday today. I’m going to try to snap a photo before we load them in the Honda. I had such a great day of fond memories. The beautifully intricate outfits made by my grandmother were so fun to see again. Moths from attic storage at my parents had eaten away at the feathered felt hats, but they still look lovely. Grand will have several repo Ginny’s from the 80’s that were her mother’s and one much newer one I picked up recently with which to play. My old Ginny’s are still here waiting impatiently for me to string them. 🙁
Have a wonderful weekend. Looking forward to the next Jeanne creation. 🙂
Your granddaughter is a lucky little girl. I hope you share a picture. I have a 1950s Ginny like the one I had as a child. Recently I bought a (I think) 1980s Ginny because my 1950s Ginny could not wear the modern Ginny clothes (Sassoon) and there were tons out there to buy still in packages. My 1950s Ginny gets her clothes from Ginny Doll Creations on Etsy. The dresses are made for the 1950s Ginny and also fit my 8″ Shirley Temple. The lady uses the same pattern but does dresses for all the holidays and seasons. Last summer she did some cute shorts and tops. The price is right so she gets my business.
I think I might need the name of that etsy shop. 🙂
Funny, but I saw the name for the Ginny person, but was thinking there was more to it. 🙂
HI Joy,
I just finished the listing and it will go on tonight… I hope I’m not too late with selling a coat… hopefully there is someone out there who needs a coat for their doll… :o)
Now that I have Sara’s listing all taken care of, I need to get back to the dress for Emily… I just heard my phone cha-ching again, so there is another jump in the price… (sell a doll, buy a doll!) :o)
What a wonderful birthday present for (Landon?) She will have so much fun playing and dressing her new dolls… Oh do take pictures if you can…
Blessings, Jeanne
You were close on Landry’s name. My aunt keeps calling her laundry. Ha ha. 🙂 Daughter got a pic, so hope to see when she gets time to send. Pretty crazy at their torn apart remodel right now.
It’s wonderful that Emily is doing so well. This will be a fun auction to watch. The pink print fabric looks really nice up next to her.
Sara’s outfit is really cute and looks so good on her. All the pieces really make it special. It’s “The Jeanne Touch.”
Wonder what outfit is coming up next? It’s always fun to see who’s next in line.
Joy- have a good trip visiting family. What a treasure giving your grand the wardrobes made by your grandfather. Sounds like a fun day celebrating your granddaughter’s birthday.
HI Paula,
I think Emily’s auction is going to be fun to watch too! I have to get her dress finished so I can have her ready with it, to mail out Monday…
Thanks for your kind words about Sara’s outfit… I just got it scheduled for Ebay and it will go on tonight…
Blessings, Jeanne
I was still marveling at your success with Rozen’s outfit and it looks like you’re going to more than duplicate that with Emily. Some lucky winner will get a lovely doll in a sweet dress and another wonderful dress in addition. Can’t beat that.
I decided to spend the day in my “office” yesterday sorting through piles of paperwork and paying bills so I didn’t get any sewing done. I need to finish the t-shirt for Emma’s overall outfit. Soon as I finish here that is next on my agenda.
Joy, have fun with your family. I can’t wait to hear your granddaughter’s reaction to her wonderful birthday gift.
HI Barbara,
I hope whoever gets Emily loves her like I know Dianna would love someone to. I probably should have kept her, but I really am not a doll collector…however I DO love them… lots of them… more than I could ever own, but I really love to just for them…
Paperwork has to be done… but just think… THEN you get to PLAY!
I’m glad you liked Sara’s final piece… her purse… :o)
Blessings to you, Barbara,
~ Jeanne
Oops! I forgot to mention how much I love Sara’s outfit. The purse was the piece de resistance!
Emily’s new dress will be so pretty. She was such a nice find. I will have to check out our thrift store more often to see what all is there.
Sara’s outfit is just lovely. The purse pulls the whole thing together. Well, with a purse and a fancy dress and coat Sara is definitely headed somewhere special.
Looking forward to seeing whose up next.
Joy, have fun at the birthday celebration. What a wonderful gift that will be>
Thank you Laura,
I hope I can get Emily’s dress finished this evening and not have to sew on it tomorrow…
Yep, those thrift stores sometimes have wonderful treasures that others don’t see….
Thanks for your compliments on Sara’s outfit… I just got it scheduled for Ebay this evening.
I hope someone is still in the market for a doll coat…
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
I have never seen anything even half as nice as your Emily in our thrift stores. The dolls are either the reproduction porcelain ones (very over priced in my opinion) or in the children’s section with thousands of Barbies (OK that’s a bit of an exaggeration lol) or the cheap plastic ones with no name all in various stages of “decomposition”. It is fabulous that she has done so well.
Sara looks fabulous and she obviously loves her little bag. Everything works beautifully. I think there will be ‘tears before bedtime’ as my Mum used to say, when she has to take it off.
We are back to Level 2 again, Auckland in Level 3 (level 4 is complete lockdown). There was a small outbreak in Auckland which was contained but one person decided the rules didn’t apply to them and even though they were supposed to be isolating they went to work for nearly 12 hours at KFC and now no one in Auckland can go to work!!!! Or buy KFC or any other takeaways! Not quite as bad for the rest of the country but one of the girls at the cafe we go to a couple of times a week has just gone on holiday to Auckland so hope she doesn’t bring it back here. Roll on the vaccine. Still only available to Border workers, quarantine staff and health workers the rest of us have to wait till we get more into the country. I think we are last on the list in spite of pre ordering almost as soon as it was made available. Probably didn’t know we really existed, you’d be surprised how many people have never heard of NZ or think we are a state of Australia which is even worse lol.
HI Anne,
Emily was truly a nice find and I hope the winner loves her. We have our fair share of damaged and “well loved” dolls at ours too… Most of the porcelain dolls are a dime a dozen and I only look at them for the shoes they may have on… .
I just listed Sara’s set on Ebay to go on tonight… so when I go back in my sewing room, I’ll have to ask her to get undressed… I hope she doesn’t shed any tears…
Sorry about your outbreak of Covid… boy, there are some strict rules about even one person getting it! Our county just came out with the numbers and we were at zero for this week…
I hope they don’t forget you… and you get the vaccines soon for everyone who wants and needs one…
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, oh my goodness! If the bidding gets any higher you are going to have to make Emily a travel trousseau (laugh).
I love the purple ensemble. Sara wears it well.
March 1 on Monday. 63 days until May!
HI Dorothy,
I know what you mean… I better this dress very special…
I almost put the purple set on Rozen with her red hair, but I agree with you, Sara looks pretty in it…
63 days till May! WooHoo! Keep me posted… I hope I’m done with my cabinets by then… I got 5 more doors finished this morning… I haven’t forgotten about that aqua blue layered cake I was going to share virtually with everyone on my blog… yum!
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
