I thought today we might just give a few sentences about what we are grateful for… I looked back at a few Thanksgiving posts I’ve done in the past and have much to be thankful for….
Two years ago my hubby had surgery for bladder cancer and had his bladder, prostrate and 36 lymph nodes removed… It turned out to be Stage 3 cancer but as close to stage 4 as you could get, without actually being stage 4. It was a rough, hard surgery and some days it’s still hard for him to accept, but I’m so grateful to the Lord for watching over him and keeping him around for me and our kids. The Lord took care of us throughout it all and we never missed a bill being paid, nor a meal on the table, nor a friend being near when one was
needed!
Cindy sent this picture of me and my hubby today… I don’t know if it was at Thanksgiving, but it may have been… A LONG TIME AGO! I showed the picture to my hubby and he said, “Great, it looks like I have a chicken on my head!”
My kids are a blessing to us… we love them dearly and pray God’s best for them as they grow up in this world…
My family is nothing short of miraculous! They truly are remarkable and I love them more than I could ever tell them or show them. I absolutely LOVE spending time with each one of them… and am so blessed to call them family. I can’t wait to be with them again. I just love being near them!
Cindy also sent this one too… we were kidding that it must have been the year of “graphic” sweaters! :o)
The rock of our family, my mom, went to be with her Heavenly Father back in February, and it’s still hard to think that she’s gone, but we have wonderful memories of and with her that can never be taken away. I’m making her famous Pineapple Sheet cake for our Thanksgiving dinner… It was phenomenal… almost as good as her pumpkin roll! :o) She is missed but never forgotten!
We are blessed with great friends who would do anything for us and love us unconditionally! It’s nice to have friends like this… I hope you have some!
I have ALL of you, who read my blog each day, and some of you even tell me it’s the highlight of your day! That’s hard for me to imagine, but I’m glad you feel that way. It warms my heart and blesses me more than you could ever know.
We have food to set on our table every single day! Some people can’t say that! We are truly blessed!
Now, it’s your turn… what are you thankful for?
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, gosh, isn’t that appropriate, for your hubby to have a chicken “growing out of his head”?! Considering he enjoys raising birds/chickens so much…???? (Being a little silly here….) Anyway, those are both very nice photos, and it’s fun to see what you all looked like “way back when”!!
You are so right, Jeanne, we are blessed, more than we can ever know. Food, family, friends, housing, etc. I generally do a “thankful” post every day during November on my Facebook page, and last night’s (Wed.) was thankful for my sewing room, and all my tools and fabrics and things. I have the luxury of more than one sewing machine, so if my Viking breaks down (as it has, twice in the last few years), I just move it out of the way and set up another one. That is a real luxury for me–as I barely have to stop sewing before I can continue again!
I’m also thankful for the many wonderful people I’ve met via the internet–doll friends, sewing friends, etc. Twenty years ago I could never have imagined “knowing” so many people, from so many different places around the world! I have even met some of them, face to face!
So to you and your family, and all my “sofa sisters” and your families, I wish you God’s richest blessings on this Thanksgiving Day! I am thankful for all of you.
After you and Charlotte’s beautiful comments, I feel a bit intimidated in my own ! However, before I do forget, thank you all for the wonderful comments about my dolls yesterday. I could not get to each one of you to thank you personally, but consider this as just that! You are the ones I really cisplay my dolls for and your words mean so much to me!
Michael and I have much to be grateful for, our 53, almost 54, years of marriage, our wonderful children, Jennifer and Brian, who have given us 6 beautiful grandchildren! While we aren’t a really social couple, we have so many dear friends from over the years that we love and appreciate. I have the joy of my doll collection, our home, and I wake up each day thankful for all I have. We have good health, wonderful memories that can never be taken away, and all of you dear people who I get to sit on the couch with each day!.
My first thought was “you”. You and George are so very dear to me. You have always been there for me and I know you always will be. Thanks for being such a blessing to me. My children, grand children, parents, and all the rest of my family are wonderful blessings too but at the very top of my list is my Savior who carries me. I am so exceedingly thankful to Him. Have a wonderful, joyous Thanksgiving. You are loved!
Amen, Gloria!
To All Have a Good Thanksgiving! We usually have 27 here at the farm, not so this year. But are happy to have a small bubble. God Bless!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Jeanne!!
This is probably longer that you want to read:
This has been one of the hardest years of my life, but I have much to be thankful for. I am almost never ill, except for a cold once in awhile, yet I was sick 3 times in February, and I think one of the times it was likely COVID_19, as my Dr. tested and it was not flu. In March , because of the pandemic, we had to change our planned plane and train trip across the country to see family. We changed it to Thanksgiving, Ha ha. In April, we canceled our planned May trip to our time share in Helen, GA. In May I came down with shingles that lasted 5 months, I couldn’t even bear to sew all that time. Our annual visit to FL to visit friends and go out to the Gulf for scallops was canceled. Also, our MDCC doll convention was switched to virtual, and that trip was canceled. Then we canceled our Thanksgiving trip. The two annual Christmas parties in FL were canceled. Then we ahve found out that our AC has been leaking for at least a year. We have to replace it ($$), tear up a bathroom, 2 closets, and a lot of the pine flooring in the living room. So, why am I so thankful? I am 81 and Peyton is 82. We are so happy together, he was here for me through all my sickness. We are well and back at our water aerobics classes that help our stiff joints. My distant sons and my youngest granddaughter have been in touch more that ever, and she face times me. Her family has moved from CA to NY, closer to GA, at least. We live in a beautiful place, a wonderful neighborhood, great friends, we have a blesssed church and church family and can now attend church, as well as our bible study and healing service on zoom. Our 13 year old car died, but we found a smaller one we really like. I can sew, and I get to read the blog every day. There are so many other things to be thankful for, and I believe we are headed for a better year, no matter who ends up in charge, God is always in charge. God bless you all and I wish you a wonderful day and a great year.
Love your photos Jeanne. I probably wouldn’t have noticed the ‘chicken’ on Hubby’s head if you hadn’t mentioned it but now can’t get it out of my head. That is so funny.
2020 has been a difficult year for us and I can’t wait to see the back of it!! However I am thankful for my wonderful friends and family. I am also thankful that I am still healthy even though I have a few aches and pains. I too thank God for loving me and always being my guide and strength.
Sissy your year sounds a bit like ours though it wasn’t me that had the health issues. I went to a market yesterday at my grandaughter’s high school and some of the students were selling ‘Goodbye 2020’ cards. I bought 4!!! I think you could do with some of them. We will never forget 2020 I don’t think.
Hope you all had a good day. It is Friday here so a busy day. We may not celebrate Thanksgiving but we do have Black Friday Sales!! Not that I intend to go to any sales. We do like to ‘borrow’ everyone else’s celebrations here, Matariki is the only truly indigenous celebration for NZ and that is very new for most of us.
Thank you, Anne, we did have a good Thanksgiving. I heard from family, and had a facetime, and we shared food and fellowship with a neighbor couple, good friends. Wishing you a good rest of the year and a better 2021!
Sissy, I’m so sorry you had Such a rough year! I’m glad your shingles and other medical problems are gone, and you are able to sew again!! I often think of the day we met, over at Alderwood Mall! I think that was the first time I ever saw a Little Darling (as I recall, that’s what you had with you), and she was so beautiful! (And now I have 7 of them!)
I hope next year is much better for you! hugs, Charlotte
Thank you, Charlotte. Hard to believe those 2 little grandgirls I brought with me when I met you are now in their 20’s! My 8 yr. old grandgirl loves AG’s. Wish we could meet again.
Have a good rest of the year and a much better one in 2021!
Hugs,
Sissy
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all! 🍗🥧🛋
A year ago I was in a hospice. One of my sisters cooked and brought me dinner. This year I’m home cooking my own dinner. Last year I recited my dolls names (silently) to make myself feel better. This year there are two more and they are all dressed for the day. It’s been an unusual year, but there are signs of improvement.
Just reading all the comments makes me thankful for what this year has been like for us. So many disappointments but nothing like Sissy, you poor thing!Marilyn is a wonder…just think how far you have come in a year…a miracle!
We were lucky enough to go to Florida the last week of Jan for 3 weeks. I was sick while there and had a nasty cough so I’m hoping it was Covid 😳
So far we have been Ok
Loved seeing the pictures of your family from the 70’s? -80’s? We must have shopped in the same sweater departments…they look awfully familiar😉 You and George were , and are, such a cute couple!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
