I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the pictures of some of the many collars I have added to my doll dresses. I have more to show you if you’d like to stick around…
Some of these go all the way to the early 2000’s, and my photography skills were sorely lacking… I still hope you enjoy them.
Nellie is sporting a “sort of” collar… Yes, we’ll call it a collar. It was one of my favorite pieces of lace I ever used like this. It was the perfect size and looked wonderful on this fabric.
I just ran across these couple of pictures and thought I’d stop and show you. Isabelle wanted to try on Wren’s dress and as you can see it “almost” fits, but not as nicely as it did on Wren.
Isabelle was thrilled when I told her I’d copy a dress for her “sort of like” Riley’s from yesterday…I only had 1 corner left on that hankie because the bottom 2 corners were used on Riley’s apron to her dress and the 3rd corner was used for “her” collar.
This was Isabelle’s debut dress. She really had my heart when she first arrived. I enjoyed sewing for her as often as I could.
I thought I’d add this picture of Kit in her dress with a “faux” collar. It “looks” like a collar but it’s really sewn down so it doesn’t count. I thought you’d still enjoy seeing it.
This was my 16″ Kish Four Seasons Winter doll in a pretty blue dress with a large lacy collar. She looked so pretty in the delicate blue fabric.
This was my 16″ Kish Four Seasons Fall doll in a Christmas dress I made her one year… I loved the little bird house to go with her dress…
…and so, I think I’ve run out of collars.
I do have lots of pictures where the neck treatment is something like this…
or this…
Maybe I’ll have to do a post on just lacy necklines sometime…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Ooh, more eye candy/inspiration!! Thanks, Jeanne. They are all so pretty. You’re right, though, that piece of lace on Nellie’s dress is just perfect!!
Thank you Charlotte,
Just what we all needed…more “candy”…just not the edible kind. I’m glad you liked seeing more collars today!
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings ,Jeanne
So many pretty little dresses. Some of these dolls seem a unfamiliar. Do you still have them all, Jeanne?
No pictures of the collar and cuffs my mom made. She says they stayed with the dresses but I remember them being safety pinned together in her cedar chest. Maybe theyβll turn up but itβs not looking good.
I always enjoy seeing your doll fashions, Jeanne! Recent or past they all are good.
Hi Julia,
Several of the dolls shown today are no longer with me..I dont have my Winter and Fall Four Seasons doll…
Cecile is long gone…
I sold that particular Kit but have another one who is waiting to get her legs tightened…then she will most likely be sold too.
The Nellie shown in that first dress is a Nellie I sold. But I bought another one back again.
Isabelle will ALWAYS stay with me.
Sorry to hear about your collar and cuffs being missing. I’m hoping somehow they turn up.
Thanks Julia,
Blessings, Jeanne
Loved seeing Nellie’s beautiful dress with the doily lace front and your wonderful embellishment. I’m always looking for pieces like that. If it is damaged, all the better as then I don’t mind finding it a new life. Can’t remember the name of your last beauty, but both of those dresses are lovely too.
Bad news on the collar and cuffs made by Julia’s mother. But, perhaps she can recreate a dolly version. Wouldn’t that be cute? π
My Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Hanna was thrilled to receive a new outfit yesterday which came with cool black lace up chunky boots. What a fashionista. π
Hope all went well at the eye doctor and you are on to full recovery.
Can’t wait for pictures!
Hi Joy
I’m always looking for pieces of lace like what’s on Nellie’s dress too. Just a single piece of lace that makes for such pretty dresses.
Those last 2 dresses are shown in Cecile.
She’s a friend of Caroline…and I loved her look but didn’t care for my dolls eyes
.. I thought they were too close together.
I bet you’re having fun with Hanna. It would be fun to welcome a new do in the house…not just yet for me…but it looks like Barbara caved and got Bella!!! How fun for both of you.
Everything did go well at the eye doctor yesterday… do have to go back nex week because the pressure in my left eye was a little high… but I’m seeing wonderfully!
Blessings, Jeanne
Yay, good news on the eyes. Yes, I’m sure the drops will help the pressure. A lot of stress inserting in those lenses. Hopefully, by next week, all will be perfect. π
And I caved and also bought Sara who should arrive next week. hopefully. My shoe order arrived today and of course other person was out for the mail grab. π But, I ordered correctly and Hanna and Sara will have more than enough shoes. Now they need outfits. Those Wellie patterns are supposed to fit. Hint hint. π
Dear Jeanne, I am loving seeing the collars (or neck dressings – chuckle).
My favorite outfit is the blue one worn by your 16 inch Kish Winter. The dress is beautiful and she is a cutie.
Hi Dorothy,
Neck dressings…that’s a good name for my pictures today.
I’m glad you liked my blue dress. It was a dream to make..soft as a Kleenex and delicate as can be.
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Maybe we should have said we not only like collars but the collar effect. These were all lovely. I wish I had some of the handkerchiefs my sisters and I gave our grandmother for gifts. I remember one that had violets on it with a decorative edging. I need to start looking for vintage handkerchiefs. They do make lovely collars.
Glad all went well at the eye doctor yesterday.
Barbara,
You can do fun things with hankies. I’m always on the lookout for them when we’re out shopping. It’s always fun when you find some that are perfect for what you had in mind.
I have a one one with violets on it…
Thank you Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
I do like collars, especially when they are as nice as all of these. Yes, Nellie does have a lovely collar, or maybe it is a yoke? But oh my, Cecile does love lovely in those lace-collared dresses!
Thank you Carolyn,
I appreciate all your very kind comments and so glad you enjoyed seeing the different collars I have shown.
I like those lacy ones too!
Blessings, Jeanne
