Readers pictures and a fun video about lasagna…

I am still trying to get things sorted out around here and the paperwork seems to never end, but fortunately, I have WONDERFUL readers who always come through just when I need something for a new post. Today we have quite the variety and I think you’ll find something that will make you smile.

Let’s start off with a new doll for Kathie. She ordered a Paola Reina doll with the Asian face and she is just adorable… She is almost the same size as the 13″ Little Darlings so they can share some of the same clothing… Shoes? not so much! 😮 Kathie crocheted her little dress added to a hankie. Doesn’t she look pretty in lavender? Kathie is still thinking of a name for her, so if you want to help her out, I’m sure she wouldn’t mind your suggestions! :o)

Most of the pictures will enlarge if you click on them…

Next up is a link to something fun from Joy! Just click on the link to see the tiniest lasagna ever made…

Mini Lasagna

If you missed the Mini Unicorn Cake video Joy shared a while back…you really should take a look at this…

Mini Unicorn Cake

Susette sent some pictures of her overgrown garden houses on her patio in California… I’m sure she’s gotten all the bunnies cleared out and I bet they are all spruced up and beautiful…

Now what’s Addy doing in Susette’s pics??? :o) Looks like she’s wanting to learn how to sew!!

Actually, I loaded my pictures all in one grouping, so I might have mixed up the ones that were before and the ones that were after…but to me, they all look lovely!

She also sent a picture of something called Museum Wax. (She called it Quake Wax… must be a California term!) :o) She said it’s what is used to hold things up in the museums there…and she thought it might work for holding up dolls when they are being photographed… anyone ever use it? I’ve never even heard of it…

Here are Susette’s girls at Easter… well, some of them…

This is Joy’s new doll Stella May in her bunny suit… I know… Easter is over, but I’m sure you don’t mind… Joy made her bunny suit and isn’t Stella adorable in it?

Kathie also sent me these sweet pictures of her new Bru doll… I’ll let her tell us about her…
“I bought this repro at an estate sale a few years ago. Normally I don’t buy repro but I knew in my wildest dreams I would never have a real one and the dress on this one is made so well and the faces on these Antique French dolls is so sweet. Her tag says Bru.
Ok so the reason I took pics of her is to show you that cute way the lace collar, if you can call it a collar, is made…. and the very simple but cute ribbon in her hair. I could see that same ribbon only using a much wider ribbon for your AG dolls. It’s so cute the way it’s knotted.”

She’s adorable Kathie and I bet you love her to pieces… and not just that dress! I think she has a very sweet face!!!

Okay..that’s enough for today… come back tomorrow and maybe “I’ll” have something to share. I hope so!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Oh Jeanne, what a fun and varied blog you have for us today! It is these little surprises that keep us on our toes, wondering what is in store for us each day! We certainly had a dreary day yesterday weatherwise, so this really made it for me!

Kathie’s new little doll is just adorable, and looks so pretty in her lavender dress! I have no ideas on a name, but she certainly is a sweetie, and could pass for my Ivy’s little sister! The more I think about it, why not a name like Lily?

Oh, I could watch those videos of making tiny food all day! So fun, and I remember you having videos from that same little kitchen last year. I can’t imagine how in the world they make things so small, that actually work!

As always, Susette’s pictures of her fairy gardens are just fantastic! How does she weave her magic to make them so realistic, and beautiful? I love the little fairy swing! Addy looks so grown up and pretty in her birthday dress, and helping her mother with the mending. Sweet girl!

Stella Mae in that bunny suit, sitting among the marshmallow peeps and eggs is just plain adorable! Thanks for sending that in Joy!

Kathie’s new Blu is really a pretty! While I don’t usually go for this type of doll, I have to admit, she is one that would catch my eye! She certainly does have a beautiful face, and I love that dress! That is an interesting way to fix the ribbon in her hair, and yes, the collar/bodice treatment is so pretty and angelic!

Thank you Jeanne for showing us what your readers are up to. We are a diverse bunch, aren’t we?

  2. Charlotte Trayer

I really should have been in bed long ago, but here I still am!! Will hopefully keep my comments short tonight!! Ha!

Such fun, all these many pictures, and such a variety! Lots of fun to look. I will follow the links tomorrow, when I have more time.

The name that immediately popped into my mind when I first saw the picture of Kathie’s new doll was Lila. I don’t know why, it just did. And now I see that Linda suggested Lily, so we had similar ideas!!

Unless Kathie would like an Asian-sounding name for her, in which case perhaps Ren (“water lily”) or Suki (“loved one”)–both Japanese–or Olina (“filled with happiness–Hawaiian) or MeiYing (“beautiful flower”–Chinese).

The other dolls were such fun to see, and the little houses/gardens….last but not least, I love the hairdo and ribbon on Kathie’s new-to-her Bru, and her dress, too! Always fun to see something new and different!

  3. How fun!
Kathie’s little Paola Reina doll is adorable in her new dress. Love the crochet in lavender with the vintage hankie which is perfect for little Ming. 🙂
Whenever I see Susette’s lovely houses, I start in looking once again. Maybe this year I’ll actually find one at an estate sale. Love the addition of the bunnies too. And I’ve written, Museum Wax on my list. So much better than the old green/black stuff my mother in law used of which I’m still trying to dissolve from the bottom of several pieces.
Looks like one more hot day today, and then the temperature will return to normal for this time of year. More watering early required.

  4. What a fun blog! I love Kathie’s Paola Reina doll. And her dress is the cutest. Great job Kathie. I just got a Paola Reina Cleo. I love those dolls – and they are affordable. My Cleo is wearing a dress I made for my LD Claire last year for Easter. Perfect fit. As for shoes, Etsy has tons of shoes specifically for the Paola Reina dolls. My favorite site is Toutpourmapoupee in France. They have an amazing selection. My Cleo has more shoes than she has clothes. I usually buy shoes to match clothes, but I liked the shoes so much I decided to buy shoes and make outfits to go with them. Have fun, Kathie, with your new Paola Reina, Cindy Liu – or whatever you decide to call her.

Susette, I love your fairy garden houses, etc. I love miniature houses and have them all over my house, but I’ve never done fairy gardens although I look at things to create one a lot. My youngest sister is into fairy gardens and does some lovely things and I love seeing what she and other people create. Nice picture of sweet Abby in her lovely dress. And the dolls in their Easter finery are lovely.

Museum Wax. Definitely need to look into this.

Joy’s Stella May in her bunny suit is beyond adorable. Great job on the bunny suit. I saw some peeps in the store the other day that had a plush peep as part of the package. I didn’t buy any, but I think I’ll go back and see if they still have them. They would be perfect for dolly pictures. I love the mini lasagna and unicorn cake videos. I can’t even imagine working that small. Probably when I was younger, but these days my fingers are not that flexible. Thankfully I have no arthritis, just time has taken a toll – and injuring my hands in a auto accident didn’t help.

Kathie’s Bru is lovely. I have two “rescue dolls”, one I saved from a garage sale and one I found neglected in an antique shop. They actually started my doll collecting. I saw them and felt they needed some TLC and new clothes. They have some afflictions such as wonky feet and fabric that goes half way down their arms and legs, but they know they’re loved and dressed well. You will see pictures of them soon (I hope). Their hair is a bit of a problem (well maybe more than a bit), but I plan on working on that sometime soon. Probably will end up re-wigging.

We had some storms roll through here last evening, but the sun is shining brightly today and the sky is bluer than blue. And we have a north breeze which keeps our humidity low. Gorgeous tourism industry kind of day!

  5. Dear Jeanne, I love the doll photos from the blog family. They range from a repro antique doll to a BJD, a whole spectrum of doll types.

This Sunday I am going to the bi-annual doll show in Lancaster, PA. I don’t really “need” to buy anything but it does not hurt to look (smile). I do want to find an unusual Madame Alexander doll to donate to the raffle room at the Alexander Doll Club convention in June.

  6. Surprised to see my Repro Bru today. I sent those pics to Jeanne for ideas on the hair bow and that unusual collar. Glad she shared them…as I said, I knew I’d never have a real one so a nice repro is a good thing 🙂 I was crazy about that dress and her sweet face.
Linda..the first name I thought of was Lily too! Now there are so many cute suggestions I may have to pull one out of a hat like Jeanne does. Joy’s idea of Ming is sweet…and her Stella as a bunny is too cute! My Fairy items stayed out all winter so They may need some new paint and TLC for sure…Suzette your Fairy houses are brilliant! Charlotte I love MeiLing and Thank you for the Shoe Site Barbara…hummm Cindy Lui is cute too!Thank you for all your sweet comments! We do love to share our Dolly pics!

  7. I love seeing the pictures of other readers dolls and things they share with us. I’m left to second everything said above about the dolls, so special. I have one of my mother’s handkerchiefs that looks much like the skirt of the doll, but I won’t be crocheting a top for a dress. Nice job! What a lovely Bru doll. You sure were lucky to find her, especially with the lovely dress and in such great condition, Kathie. Joy, your little sweetie looks so cute in the bunny costume. You are quite a seamstress! Those pictures of the miniature cooking are amazing. Thanks for sharing them, Jeanne.

The picture of the dolls and animals is actually for the Blessing of the Animals which is held in Los Angeles and I’m sure in many places on the Saturday before Easter. Sometimes exciting things happen at these events, animals being animals, you see. All of the little houses are Blue Sky by Heather Goldminc, bought on eBay over the years. Glad you liked them.

The Museum Wax is available on line. You might get the smaller container as you don’t need very much at all, just on the shoes or to help the doll hold something.
