The start of a NEW YEAR!

I had a wonderful time with my family these last couple of days. We mostly laughed and told stories and laughed and told more stories. We reminisced about past Christmas’s and remembered things some of us had forgotten. We shared some of our favorite memories like looking through the Sear’s Christmas catalog and marking and circling the things we liked and hoped we’d get… mostly we just dreamed about them I think! My sister, Deb, remembered a Styrofoam ball Christmas tree with toothpicks poked in it to hold it onto the next layer of balls and sprayed with that white snow and then little red ornaments hung on the toothpick spikes! I hadn’t though of that in probably 40 years! We talked about our Alvin, Simon and Theodore marionette puppets we got one year, and the time I got some white ice skates that were really too small, but because I was so excited to get out on the pond, I said they fit fine, and I was in agony with my toes all squished in them… Oh…the memories… I hope you have had some nice ones!

We put away momma’s Christmas stuff and Cindy rearranged her hutch…nothing like starting out the New Year with some new
“pretties” to look at! They were all things from her living room and bedroom… just arranged differently!

If you click on the pictures, you might see them better…

If you want to see a cute picture, here’s one Joy sent me of Romy, Navi and Giggi on their scooter. She said they sneaked outside to get on their scooter. Joy said it was very cold and windy in California right now! Happy New Year’s to you girls!!!

Now, I guess I better let you know who won the GIVEAWAY, right? I loved all your resolutions and hope we all can work on the ones we mentioned and master them! They were all great, but there can only be one winner and that person is….

Laura won this pretty slip shown on Nellie. I hope you like it Laura.. I’ll get it to you in the mail tomorrow. I don’t think I have your address… if you could email it to me. Thanks so much and congratulations!

I’m trying to decide who gets a new dress first this year… maybe I’ll tell you tomorrow! :o)

Have a wonderful first day of this new year!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Happy New Year Jeanne! Your mother’s hutch looks so pretty all lit up! What a beautiful scene for her living room!
Yes, it certainly is fun to remember things from long ago with the very people you lived with! We all remember different things, and it all adds to the fun of sharing memories. I hope everyone got back home safe and sound!

Oh good, Laura wins! She is a sweetie and I can’t imagine a more deserving person! Did you include a picture of the slip? it sounds like you did, but I didn’t see anything. No matter what, I’m sure she will love it!

I’m off now to check out the AG website and see the new Girl of the Year! By the way, she’s a farm girl! Yay!

      1. HI Linda,
Happy New Year to you too, Linda!
We really did have the best time sharing stories and memories, seeing who could remember the farthest back… or who could remember something we all had forgotten. Deb won on that one!

After you mentioned the new Girl of the Year, I had to take a peek at her and she is very pretty… Blaire…a farm girl. That’s something new! :o)
        Thanks Linda,
        Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you for your kind comment, Linda. You’re a sweet person as well and I’ve enjoyed getting to know you over the years.

  2. Wonderful new arrangement of your mom’s things. Love your style, Cindy!
Congrats to Laura! The slip will be perfect on one of your girls.
Congratulations to everyone for surviving this year, and I have great expectations for a wonderful 2019.
Thank you Jeanne for your fun blog and allowing us all to participate. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
I took those pictures of Cindy’s handiwork as I planned to study her arrangement and see if I can copy it somehow…
Thanks for adding the link to that Dish commercial… I might have to post that in a regular post so everyone (like me) who hadn’t seen it can see it! It was crazy good to me… I loved it and watched it several times…. and might have to show my hubby tonight…

It’s my pleasure to have you all as friends and have this fun place to gather and chat with each other.
Thanks Joy and Happy New Year to you!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Congratulations to Laura for winning the giveaway and to Cindy for making the familiar new, a wonderful gift. Many thanks to Joy, Romy, and company for bringing in the New Year with great charm — I’m sure Romy agrees, and she may never give up that hat.
Happy New Year to us all — may the year be full of accomplishment, peace, and good health.

    1. Thank you Marilyn,
I haven’t heard from Laura yet, so I’m not sure she knows she’s won yet… it will be a fun surprise when she checks in and sees it! ;o)

I just had to add Joy’s pictures of her girls on the first day of the new year…it was priceless to me. Glad you enjoyed it too!

I couldn’t agree with you more about the year being full of accomplishment, peace and good health. I appreciate your thoughts Marilyn and so glad to have you a part of my little blog family!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I won, I actually won! What a lovely slip and such a surprise. The lace is very pretty. Now to decide who will wear it first. Thank you so very much, Jeanne. I’ll email my address to you.
Your mom’s hutch looks very nice. I like the way Cindy rearranged things. I do that once in a while in the bookcase that holds my music boxes and the German wooden Christmas decorations and the curio which houses my mom’s Hummels, and the mix of other family treasures. It helps to move things to different shelves to showcase them. Your mom has a wonderful collection of pitchers and I like the ewe and lamb figurine.
Your girls look like they are having a lot of fun, Joy. I hope Romy is a good driver. Such a cute picture.

    1. Yes Laura, you’re the winner! Congratulations! I got your address from the email address nd will send it out tomorrow…
I hope your dolls don’t fight too much over the slip…
I was hoping to study Vindus picture and try to learn from what she did!
Thanks for being a part of this group L as ua!
Blessings and Happy New Year to you!

  5. Dear Jeanne, happy January 1!
Congratulations to Laura. The slip is so cute.
I love your sister’s handiwork on your mother’s cabinet.
Joy had better lock up the scooter before the children take a joy ride down the Pacific Coast Highway (chuckle).
Here we go into 2019. Wheeeee!
