Felicity’s Fichu’s

I had a surprise at my door last night…my best friend from high school dropped by my house…all the way from Montana. We had just gotten home from St. Louis and she decided it would be better if we met today…

We did and realized it was 2013 when we last visited. She and her hubby had been missionaries in the Philippines since we left high school.

We had such a good time visiting and the time flew by. By the time she had to leave we had discussed everything under the sun… and laughed, cried, and shared so many memories.

…so that means I didn’t get any more done on Felicity’s dress than what I did last night. I’ll go ahead and show you but it’s not very much…

I played around with the fichu and it could be worn this way if you liked…

The fichu I just showed you was the one from Keepers pattern…but I decided to make another one…just from a piece of the tulle. I cut it a little wider so it could be folded around her neck a little more…

Sorry, but that’s going to be it for today…

Come back tomorrow for a really yummy pumpkin cake!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I’m so glad you had a chance to spend some time with your best friend from high school, Jeanne! What a treat for both of you!!

I am really liking the fichu, and like that it can be worn a couple of different ways. Using a piece of tulle, wider than the pattern calls for, is a nice variation, too–although I must confess to likeing the lace edging on the first one.

I got to thinking, the background of the print Looks to be almost an off-white (although I realize we’re getting a more disant/overall view of it, not looking at it up close, so that perception could be wrong), but I think cream colored lace wouldnt’ have looked right. I like the white-white with it–looks clean and crisp.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Yes it was fun spending time with Jeanie yesterday. It’s funny…in high school we both had boyfriends named Randy…. She just lost her son to leukemia… he was 31 years old, and it’s still hard for her.
I looked back at my pictures and I like the lace edged one best too…
The lace is actually an ivory color and looks very soft with the dress.
      Thanks for your compliments, Charlotte!

  2. It’s wonderful to get back with old friends, Jeanne, and we all need to do that! Your friend must have an interesting life to share with you! I’m so glad you had the opportunity to visit with each other. I’m sure she must have thought you struck gold, or oil, when she saw your beautiful kitchen!

I absolutely LOVE the airy and delicate look of the fichu around Felicity’s dress! I see now how it works with the lace ruffle underneath. She is a vision of loveliness already! We are still in suspense here, waiting to see the rest of the outfit! Maybe by the end of the week?
Even though the weather has been more summerlike than fall, I decided to make a loaf of pumpkin bread! Makes the house smell wonderful!

    1. HI Linda,
Yes it was very fun sitting and talking with “Jeanie!” There aren’t enough hours in the day to hear all the stories and catch up on things, …but we tried!!

She actually didn’t stay long enough when she came to my door Tuesday evening. We had literally just walked in the door from St. Louis, George was in the shower because his pouch had started leaking and he was calling for me…we spent maybe 5 minutes together that night, just standing inside the front door talking. But we made up for it yesterday…
It was a very nice visit.

I’m glad you are liking Felicity’s dress so far. She does model it well. My pastor came over for a visit this morning and he asked me what had been up to. I went and got Felicity wearing her dress and asked him if he could guess the era….he said “uuumm…1700’s?” I said, yes…it’s a Colonial dress…then he touched the fichu and ran his fingers across the ruching and said he loved the details!!! I smiled!!

I bet your house does smell good!!! Yummy!!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Dear Jeanne, how wonderful to spend time with old friends. I cherish mine.
I always learn new things here. I had no idea what a fichu was.
It is hard to believe that Christmas is just months away. I feel like I was just dancing around the Maypole (chuckle).

    1. HI Dorothy,
      I cherish my friends too!!
So glad you learned what a fichu is…now you can act smart when (and if) it ever comes up in a conversation!!! :o)

I’m wondering where the year has gone too!!! Surely Christmas can’t be that close, but the calendar says it is.
      Thank you Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Glad you had a nice reunion visit. Years float by quickly don’t they?
I can certainly see Felicity standing proudly amongst her peers in this wonderful outfit. I like the fichu from the pattern best because of the lovely finished edges that match the sleeve lace. Wow Felicity’s green eyes are just popping in your photos.
Came home with something big and metallic yesterday. I think George would like it.

    1. HI Joy,
I’ve tried to figure out what it was that you brought home…and I’m guessing it’s a new truck? A big shiny new red truck? Do I get a prize if I’m right???? :o)
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. You were very close. A new Taco truck as we call them out here. Toyota Tacoma, but silver not red. It has every safety feature you can imagine. Lane change, pedestrian warning, cross traffic back up and lots more. Also has a 6ft bed and back doors to access the pull down seats. Not much leg room back there, but then we’re not riding there. 🙂 And the seats are so comfortable and have seat warmers. Yes, love those. So much safer than that 92. Now we need to sell a couple of cars.

  5. How wonderful to get together with old friends. A busy couple of days for me here, but wanted to comment. Felicity’s fichu looks lovely as does the whole dress. That cream and sage really was the perfect choice to set off her eyes and hair. Looking forward to what comes next.
I liked the little treasures you from yesterday as well.

  6. Felicity’s fichus are lovely. I’m so glad you have all of that delicate lace to use for them.
Better still were the stories about your friend and getting to see her. That’s a week’s worth of good things in one visit. What a lucky person you have been this week.

  7. How fun for you to get to visit with your friend. Getting to catch up is so much fun and what a pleasant surprise. Love the outfit. I like the lace fichu it looks so soft. Can’t wait to see the complete outift.
