Oh for the love of a doll, a clock and a box…

Hi everyone,
I’m back again just to keep in touch with you… I do miss it when I can’t write a post every day. I hope you miss it too! :o)

(Let me just say this again, as I’ve gotten a few new readers the last week or so. If you get my blog posts through your email, and it comes with the title in Blue writing…if you’ll click that title with your curser, it will take you directly to my website/blog where you can join in on the comments. If you just read it from your email, you miss all the comments and sometimes they are the BEST part of the post!!) :o)

Okay, who wants to see some new dolls? I hope I got the names right… these Meadow dolls are still new to me. Maybe Joy and Sissy can explain…

Joy received her new Chara doll… she’s 6″ and has been renamed Romey. She’s really sweet! Congratulations Joy!

Sissy also received her Navi doll… another little 6″ cutie. Look at that sweet ballerina tutu! Congratulations to you too, Sissy!

My sister Cindy gave me a little “texting” nudge and I got my clock hung up in my kitchen. There’s no trim up yet, but you can see my clock! I love it hanging in here and love the color too.

Now I’m really anxious to get my trim up around the door and my window. I’m doing it like this…if you don’t understand it, just wait…it’ll be fabulous! I hope…

I hope it’s okay to share this kind of thing again… one never really knows how your readers will react. Anyway, here goes. I received another box in the mail today. This time it was from Charlotte Trayer. She sent me the nicest card, with the sweetest words inside! Thank you so much Charlotte.
Want to see inside the box?

This is what it looked like when I opened the top…

…and underneath all those packages of ribbon roses… was this… She said she was getting things together for a Clothing and Textile Summer Sewing Camp, and as she pulled things from her stash for it, she set aside a few things for me. I am so blessed by her generosity!

…five pieces of very sweet, already prewashed fabrics. I LOVE that blue print, don’t you?

Here’s a close up…

These are those ribbons on top… If anyone needs something, I’ll be happy to share… :o) They will be wonderful to add to my petticoats and slips for the dolls.

Also included were some tiny vintage buttons that would work as accents and the sweetest little sewing tin…

Charlotte said I had been so busy lately but she wanted to at least get me to patting some fabrics again and thinking of sewing too! Oh, it got me to thinking about it alright. I was in my sewing room today, kind of putting things back in their rightful place. It was a mess in there.

The realtor called me today and said the closing on momma’s house might be Monday or Tuesday. That means it’s closer to when things will be just a little bit more normal around here.

Thanks everyone, for your kindness to me and to each other. I love how you all share and comment on each others comments. I couldn’t ask for a nicer group of readers.

See you soon,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow! That got there fast! They said Thusday or Friday, when I mailed it!

I’m so glad you like everything. It was fun for me to put it all together, and I was certainly happy to share from my rather Extensive stash!! Enjoy!

As to the other pictures, congrats to Joy and Sissy on their new dollies–they are just as cute as can be!!

Jeanne, I really love that clock on your wall! I wasn’t quite sure when I first saw it among all the others at HL, but I really think it’s perfect, and you just may have chosen your kitchen’s new color accent!!

  2. How sweet of Charlotte to send those handy little items to have while sewing! It certainly helps to have things on hand to save on running out shopping, and taking away valuable time! Yes, that blue fabric is darling! I can see it as a dirndl for Kirsten, with a white hankie apron! The oval sewing button/pin is so cute! That must be Jeanne and Rebecca in an earlier time! Do you remember sewing in high heels, Jeanne? 😉

Joy and Sissy’s dolls are the cutest little things that make you smile! Oh, for those lazy, hazy days of childhood when the days were everlastingly fun!

Your clock looks so nice on the wall! I’m not sure what you are doing from the illustration, so I will wait to see like the rest of us. I like the idea of somehow using that color for the curtains, or whatever you are planning for the window. Like you said, a buffalo check would be nice! Or what about a toile countryside print using that color? Might be hard to find, though You will find the perfect thing, no doubt, Jeanne!

  3. Lovely gift from Charlotte and so thoughtful….your clock looks great on the wall…

AND…did you say CLOSING on your mom’s house? That is fantastic…I didn’t realize it had sold. Wow, that was fast.

    Blessings.

  4. Such a wonderful group of things you received from Charlotte. Love all of the fabrics! And that tiny little box sure looks like Betsy McCall and her mother on the front working on that first apron sewing project. Sweet and so thoughtful.
The clock is definitely a winner. You’ll laugh, but I studied your trim design, and I came up with you’re putting a trellis over the door?? Anyway, I’m sure it will be amazing when all done. Did you decide to go with the pull up shade positioned above the window so the view wouldn’t be blocked or with the cafe style? I do like the buffalo check too.
And Sissy’s little Navi is so cute in that tutu. Romey says “Hi!”
So glad the house sale is progressing. We’re still waiting to hear on ours.

  5. What a great post. Of course, I like everything, but see that elaborate white lace that Charlotte sent? Start thinking of a dress for that. That’s way too good not to use soon, though it would probably be splendid on a Victorian Christmas dress. White on white with a blue velvet sash. Or on green velveteen? I’m sure you can think of six alternatives faster than you can find a good place to display the lace.
The clock is wonderful. It really is perfect for that spot in that kitchen. It looks as if your trim will be Arts and Crafts style, which looks to me as if it will work very well. One of my favorite styles.
I love Sissy’s doll in its tutu riding on the hot pink zebra stripe Vespa. She looks like a tiny avant garde Parisian.
Romey is of course very cute, but she’d have to be to join the other two, which are not to be surpassed for cuteness. Is Bailey the one who is about to laugh? I’ll go back and find out. It’s the way the scene is put together that’s so funny and charming, and the way she’s getting ready to fall over in giggles. The large blue bird in its beautiful cage, and the giant bird seed container — giant seeds in comparison to tiny girls — and the lovely background of wood and sunlit leaves — it all works together.
This is a great blog entry — and on top of everything, the closing is nearly here. Perhaps the first half of 2018 has not been rich in doll clothes, but in major accomplishments, it has surely been one of the best (though not smoothest) of your lives.

    1. Marilyn, you’ll laugh at this, but as I was trying to get everyone set to pose for the photo, this hornet/yellow jacket decided to zoom in and buzz all of us. They are attracted to red and of course the older girls were wearing the flying pests favorite color. After he/she landed a few times I guess fabric wasn’t too tasty, it took off. But the photo reflects a quick pic and gathering up of props to get back indoors before he/she returned. Ha Ha! I’m sure Maddie was falling over with laughter as she laughed at me trying to dodge the flying critter. 🙂

      1. Maddie was laughing at you, the serious one was not amused by the hornet, and the little cute kid is too young to know what’s going on. The bird was probably grateful to get inside before the hornet tried to get in the cage. Isn’t it wonderful how the girls helped you pose them? It’s a perfect picture, hornet or no.

  6. It is always a happy day to see new dolls! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Love your clock up on the wall!! It is a perfect spot of color. Your door trim plans make sense and I like the overall look.
Mom’s house is closing! Wow that was fast. All the work you did must have been just right.
Congratulations on such a speedy sale.
What a lovely box of presents! I love little metal tins so I was immediately drawn to that. So many little packs of precious things and each one sent with love.
Great to hear from you today!
Hope you have a good day!
    Take care –

Charlotte, the little tin came from Hobby Lobby! It’s a reproduction, and there were several styles to choose from. It was a tough choice, but this was my favorite.

  7. Dear Jeanne, the dolls are adorable. Thanks for sharing. I don’t know anything about these dolls so it’s fun to see them.
Kudos to Charlotte for sending the surprise package. “Elephants in your mailbox” again. How wonderful!
You have a Paris clock and Marilyn made a reference to Paris above. Do you think that’s a sign (laugh)? Maybe one of your dolls would like to travel there (for pretend, of course). I bet you could create a stunning outfit for her. As they say in France, “Ooo, la, la!” (chuckle)

  8. Very fun message today! Lots to look at and think about. What a sweetie Charlotte is to send all that. I was lucky enough to meet her years ago at the AG store near Seattle. A fun time and good lunch together. I don’t get to Seattle much now that my granddaughters have finished high school and moved out. My son meets me at his brother’s now, in CA.
My Navi says hi to JOy’s Romey! I may not change Navi’s name, I really like it. I found her a bunch of shoes in Kish Riley’s box, and a few Madeline outfits that fit her ok.

  9. The towels Kathie sent you are lovely. They will be so nice with your new kitchen and organic cotton is THE best..
Congratulations to Joy and Sissy on their new dolls. They are really sweet!
Your new kitchen clock looks wonderful in your kitchen. It reminds me of an old-fashioned pocket watch.
how kind of Charlotte to share sewing supplies with you. I’m sure we’ll see some beautiful creation with those fabric and trim sometime in the future. Love the little sewing tin, so cute. I have a few candy/tea/food tins that I have acquired over the years when purchased the item. When they have pretty illustrations ( mine are from England, France, Scotland or Germany) on them I want to keep them for kitchen decor.
The sewing tin slightly reminds me of “The Mary Francis” books. Anybody else familiar with those?
I’m sure you’re grateful your mom’s house sold so quickly.

    1. Love the Mary Frances books — They are available on Lacis.com. Anyone interested in needlework needs to know about Lacis. One of these days I’ll get the whole set, just for fun. I’m so glad you mentioned them.

  10. Thanks everyone,
I’ll have to do a group response this evening. My day was too packed with “stuff” to do individual comments…sorry.
Thanks for enjoying today’s post… aren’t those tiny little 6″ cuties just the sweetest things? If I had one, I’d set her on the bookshelf, have her sitting on a little chair while I cooked, let her sleep on my nightstand…I bet Joy and Sissy and lots of others are sure enjoying these new little munchkins!
I’m glad everyone likes my new clock because I sure do. It’s just out of the ordinary enough to catch your eye…I wanted something different and unique and I think I found it.
And last of all thank you again, Charlotte, for all the wonderful goodies in the box you sent me. I’ve got the little ribbon roses put away and the lace in my lace cabinet. I’m trying to figure out who’s going to get a dress out of that blue fabric. The yellow check would make a great accent fabric to go with it….hmmm

I am trying to get my house back in order. I’ve found out it’s going to take more than a few hours to do it.
I’ve also been looking through my dolls and a few are most likely going to get the axe! Not that I want to, but sometimes I have to. I hope you’ll stay tuned for that…
    Thanks everyone
    Blessings, Jeanne

You read my mind, Jeanne! I thought the yellow check and the blue went well together, too! it was a fun package to put together; I’m glad you liked it.

  12. What a fun post. Charlotte you can read minds…Jeanne loved your fun box of treasurers! What cute fabric! Love that red white heart check and the blue and the lace!
Jeanne that clock is so perfect there. The color and size are perfect for that spot.lll,
Honestly those My Meadow dolls are so freaky cute! Love them! Posing them looks like tons of fun! Joy’s Meadow dolls just look like the cutest family and Sissy’sballerina is adorable…and that motorcycle is a hoot!
