A bit of news, a bit of thanks, and a bit of color

I had every intention of having a fun post for Monday, but my phone isn’t cooperating. I did a “long distance” decorating project with my sister in Pennsylvania a few weeks ago. I had lots of pictures to share, but my phone won’t upload the final 3 or 4 pictures…so what fun would that be to show you “almost” the whole project but not be able to show you the final outcome… so I decided to wait and hopefully I’ll get those pictures to come through and have the post ready for Tuesday. Sorry…

In the mean time, let me just thank you again for all your fun comments and how you interact with the others who leave comments. It seems like every time I looked at the last post, there were more comments added. You all are so kind to one another and it warms my heart to know you are patiently waiting for me to come back on a regular basis, but that doesn’t stop you from being friendly with each other.

I was going to do a Saturday Snippets post on Saturday of some fun things I had seen on Pinterest, but my hubby developed a high fever and had chills on Friday night and I spent my time beside him all evening and night. His fever was all gone by Sunday morning, and he felt much better in the afternoon. We have an appointment Monday morning for a doppler of his upper leg area to see what might be causing the trouble with his walking…

That’s all that is going on around here… not too much excitement… but that’s okay with me… :o) Oh, yeah… Cindy is coming here next week… BIG SMILE!!!

I don’t like to have a post without pictures so I’m going to pick a few doll pictures and share with you… just “for some color!” I’m using pictures that come to mind when I say the phrase “It’s so HOT I don’t think I can stand it!” (It was in the 90’s here today!) Hope you enjoy them…

I hope to see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. It’s so nice to hear from you again, Jeanne! Let’s hope and pray that things go well with George today. Leg trouble,— now that’s something I know about! I think my knees are giving out, especially the left one!
Oh, I know how those dollies are feeling as they lay on the chairs! It’s way too hot to do much else, except lay around and sip a glass of lemonade. I can do that, but not look quite as pretty while doing it, I tell you that! Little Ten Ping knows a thing or two about cooling off that the rest don’t! 😉 Those dolls need a fan!!

You asked a few days ago about what we would like to see for the next dress. A few have said Civil War, and I would like to add my vote to that too. Can you imagine , though, putting on all those clothes and underpinnings in this heat? And to think that hygiene wasn’t the best back then, meaning no daily baths or showers! I’m so glad I live now and not back then!!
Yay for the “great decorator”, Cindy, to make another appearance! That should pick up everyone’s spirits!

  2. Hope everything goes ok today with George’s leg.. poor guy.. he deserves feeling good with all the “stuff” he’s been through lately!

Yay for Cindy coming.. lots of beautiful decorating going to happen!

Cute poses from your girls, Love the bench with the tiny birdhouses on each back corner.. adorable!

  3. Glad to hear George’s fever is down. Nothing like a fever along with everything else going on and hot weather too.
This will cool you down. Yesterday, we took a drive up to Lake County which is about an hour and forty minutes from here. Clear Lake is the largest freshwater lake in CA. It was beautiful, clear, and in the 70’s. Just perfect as it can get really hot there at times. We were taking a look at real estate. Lots of stuff for sale. Would love to have something right on the lake, but it is pretty expensive. Not Tahoe expensive, but more than we would want to spend. The one we were interested in had an expansive view of the lake and access to the lake. But, the steps down what I would say is a cliff, to the dock did not look pleasant. And of course, the place needs a lot of TLC. Only forgiving thing was a lovely perennial garden. Fun to take a look, but not for us. Getting out of town was nice and the beauty of Lake County with it’s agriculture of walnuts and now lots of grapes was a green paradise. Interesting as we had lunch at the lumber yard. The place was called Woody’s. Go figure. And good food too.
Hope George’s test gives some answers today. Looking forward to seeing the decorating project. 🙂

  4. Good morning Jeanne,
I pray all goes well at the doctors today. Also that you get some answers to why your honey’s having leg pain. Your girls do look like they are staying cool hope you do the same.
I’m always excited to hear and see what you and your sis have been up to. Enjoy your visit with her. As always prayers continue.
    Hugs
    Ingrid

  5. So sorry to hear that George spiked a fever. Hopefully things are better now and the walking issue can be resolved soon.
Can’t wait to see your fun project pictures and I’m sure Cindy will have fun items when she arrives.
The doll pictures are really cute. We had the hottest May on record since sometime in the late 1800’s, but now we’ve had some rain and a slight cooldown. I love Janie’s dress and especially that floppy hat.
I agree with Linda that those dolls need some fans. My dolls have quite a few- Samantha’s party fans, Josefina’s black one and a little sandlewood one I found online. I also have a couple sandlewood ones of mine own that I got from Williamsburg. The perfect way to keep cool.
Regarding Civil War clothes, yes, I can’t imagine . Our church was founded in 1838, so it was built BEFORE the Civil War. We celebrated 175 years in 2013. Sometimes I sit in the pew before church and imagine the Civil War and later Victorian ladies who sat in those same pews so many, many years ago while the sun streams in through the stained glass arched windows. The sanctuary isn’t air- conditioned, but it’s usually quite comfortable with the windows open and a few fans blowing. There are paper fans in the pews. It’s in the country, so there is farmland across the street.

  6. I’m glad George is recovering from the fever and that you have an appointment today. Please don’t hesitate to go to an ER if things get too serious.
I love hearing about other people’s experiences but wish they would say where they live with each little story as we live all over the country. I live in Southern California, about three miles back from the ocean, where temps vary with every mile back from the beach. When it is 60 in the morning and 75 in the afternoon here, three miles farther inland at Disneyland, it can be in the 90s at the same time. A lucky breeze comes in off the ocean here and veers back out farther south.
I’m for a dress like Addy wears in the lovely pictures you post of her. I know you’ll have fun with Cindy and be glad to get back to sewing soon.

Dear Jeanne, I love the photos. The only thing missing is a glass of lemonade (smile).
If you want to take a moment away from your busy life, take a look at the ning site and see how the Little Darlings celebrated World Doll Day. They had so much fun!
    Prayers continue.

    Hi Jeanne,

Last night I saw that you had posted, but I was sick (lost my supper, etc.) so I wan’st on the computer very long. I had been just fine until some times after I got home from evening service, so I’m not sure if it was something I ate earlier (I had KFC for lunch) or if I had a worse version of what my hubby had earlier in the morning.

Anyway, I’m sorry about George’s spiking a temp that way–never a good thing–but so glad it went back down again. Hope the doppler study gave you some answers.

I enjoyed your pictures; of course, I like the one with Ten Ping and Janie the best (since I have LDs and a TenPing), but they all looked cute, lying or sitting or maybe we should say lounging on that bench!

As to your next dress, I’ll go against the grain and choose contemporary or maybe mid-50s style, as those are what I like best! (And, as usual, TenPing says, “make something for ME!!” LOL)

  9. Hope George and the doctors can get to the root of his leg problem. I’m sure George has had some painful moments in general and I pray he continues healing and feeling better.

It’s always nice to hear from you and read the girls comments. Hoping to see kitchen pictures.
Next week should be fun with Cindy coming Enjoy yourself immensely!
