I’m still gone and thought I’d share some “archived” posts that you may have missed… Back when I first started writing this blog, in August of 2014, my daily views were pretty low… for the first month, I averaged 16 hits a day! EEK! Let’s see if I can’t add a few more hits to some of these posts…
This post was written on my 4th day. It’s called:
This one might interest you.. I did it on day 72. It was called:
Why I take close up shots of my doll clothes…
…and I’ll pick one more “oldie, but goodie!” It was called:
“Our First American Girl doll!”
Well, that’s it for today…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Thanks for brightening up our day, Jeanne. It’s always a joy to see your work, archived or new. I trust your day is going well/has gone well.
Blessings.
Hi Becky,
We ate just getting ready to start working on the bathroom again. Our drywalled area has dried and now it’s time to sand and mud again…
Gloria is going to have an auction so we are moving things from the barn and the basement to the shop…
Thanks Becky,
Blessings, Jeanne
Love this post. The first picture is possibly my all-time favorite. Did you do all those little pleats or did it come that way. Is the over-blouse hemmed on the edges or is it a small piece of trim or fabric? The angle of the neckline: Brilliant! And the little book matches the outfit. All the prints and hat that make the whole are wonderful. It’s amazing, as is the Addy dress with all the details. And the picture of Rebecca opening the doll who looks like her! Keep those wonderful posts coming while you are on “vacation.”
Hi Susette,
You mean the black and pink polka dotted skirt? It is a featherweight corduroy and I did put all those pleats in it. The lacy top was a piece of fabric that I serged the edges and it’s just a kind of lacy over top.
I’m so glad you enjoyed today’s posts!
We are on our way to Lowes in Rolla, MO, to get 2 pieces of decorative trim for the bathroom.
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
Loved the pictures from the past. Never knew about the felt process (Mad as a Hatter). Sounds almost as bad as the arsenic green of which so many died.
Rebecca and her doll is such a precious photo. Perhaps one that can be included in your forthcoming book. 🙂
Dry wall. Isn’t that fun? Yesterday, I finished the kitchen at husband’s parents old home. Touched up the paint in a few spots too. My knees are bruised from crawling around scrubbing the floor, but it looks so nice now. Sparkling as they say, with the cabinets all clean too. So then I got to start on the master bathroom. Oh goodie! Worked on washing down the ceiling first. Finished over the bathtub. Will be able to have the ladder out of the tub today and then can head west. The cleaning fumes are pretty toxic. Bringing a fan today. Overhead scrubbing is not a joy, but seeing the difference in the ceiling is quite amazing. After the bath is done, I will be doing some drywall patching too. Other person here has just had cataract surgery and doesn’t want to get anything in his eye. Understandable.
Wishing I could attend Gloria’s auction. She must have a lot of stuff to do that. Would love to see pictures of the items and your drywall work.
Don’t work too hard.
Hi Joy,
Thanks for the comments about my “past posts!” You’re never going to give up on that book, are you?
We are on our way to Lowes to get 2 more pieces of trim to finish off the bathroom. Rolla MO is 35 miles away…the home stores in Salem
Don’t have very much stuff.
Wow, Joy, you have been really working…and I bet it looks wonderful.
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
We can have an online pre-auction. Joy wants to be there –bring it to her. What a lot you all (you and George and Gloria, and, elsewhere, Joy are managing to get done.
Of the things on the blog, I want Cecile’s bonnet and Addy’s pin. There’s always something I’d grab and take with me. It’s wonderful that you manage to have something for us wherever you are and even if there’s no electricity or some other disaster — the thing that’s most sure is Jeanne.
I’m sure we were anticipating sun today, but it’s more rain and clouds, mountains hidden behind low clouds, and more low temperatures, but the grass is greening up all over town. Cleaning weather like this is so helpful, and the ground will be perfect for pulling the last weeds if it warms up a bit. I hope your weather is perfect for everything you are doing. Stay well, and I hope everything continues to go smoothly.
Hi Marilyn,
When we look at what we have accomplished, it doesn’t seem like much but Gloria is thrilled.
Awww…how sweet of you to say what you did about my blog. I’m glad you enjoy it that much.
The weather was perfect today…56 degrees when we got up so we hauled things out of the barn while it was cool. Then when it got warmer we moved to inside work.
Thanks,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a trip down memory lane, Jeanne! I do remember all three of those blogs, and especially loved to see Rebecca opening her new doll that looks like her! Does she still have her?
I loved all those darling hats, and you certainly picked up so wonderful, tidbits of hat making and lore. And your close=ups, they still are beautiful and I never get tired of studying them over and over again!
It looks like you are having some good weather for outside work as well as in. Don’t you love these crisp, fall days? Yes, we need some pictures of your work at Gloria’s. I think I remember you showing her kitchen with the curtains blowing in the breeze. I have never forgotten that!
Hi Linda,
No, Rebecca doesn’t have her doll anymore
I sold it for her on ebay…
Those curtains were blowing in the wind today. It was wonderful.
We have had a beautiful day and right now we are heading to Lowes in Rolla to puck up some trim. We’re gonna eat somewhere aND go home and work some more!
Well, we’re in Rolla…gotta go.
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
