Today is going to be another cake post today…

Hi everyone,
Too many things to do today, so I’ll have to share the one thing I took a few pictures of. It’s the other half of the carrot cake I had put in the freezer from the Bridal Shower. This half of the cake is for a little Chinese boy who is about to be born to a young couple. He will be their first and will surely add a new dimension to their lives.

I decorated the bridal shower cake in lavender and sage… Today I decorated this little boy’s cake in blues and green and a touch of yellow. I’m so used to making flowers and things, I HOPE it’s not too girlie looking. It’s too late if it is… it is what it is!

When I was all done decorating, I took my bags that still had some buttercream frosting in them and fooled around with them on a paper plate. There are SO many different piping tips and it was fun just using it up. I saw someone on Pinterest who had made a pair of baby booties and was trying that. I like to practice leaves too! :o)

Well, those were the only pictures I took today… oh, but I do have a picture of the blue fabric that’s like the one I made in hot pink for Ruah’s dress yesterday.
(Actually, I thought I’d tell you, I changed the pictures of Ruah from what they were yesterday. She is SO pretty and there is so much, shall I say, “Hanky Panky” going around, I sure didn’t want that to happen with a picture of Ruah… so I turned them to pencil drawings.)

Anyway, here is the blue fabric… it’s not quite as vibrant as the pink, but I have to say, it’s prettier than it is in my pictures…

Oh, and ONE more blue tidbit! Remember Kirsten’s blue dress with the pretty white apron? A friend that goes to church with me, is buying it for her granddaughter and giving it to her for Christmas. I’m not sure why it didn’t sell… maybe it needed a bonnet, but Beth is happy and I hope her granddaughter will be too!

Well, now I really must go to bed… I have a few more commitments… Wednesday evening is Hannah’s baby shower and Thursday evening is a birthday party for a very dear friend. I’m thrilled… I just have to show up for this party! (I bet you think we are nothing but Party Animals here!) We aren’t!!!! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Your “boy”-decorated cake turned out really nice. I don’t think it was too girly.

I was interested in your playing with the frosting. Now if that had been at my house, back when I was decorating cakes with some regularity, Ron would have willingly “cleaned” up that plate for me!! He loved frosting, and was in “hog heaven” when I took that cake decorating class and had to make a cake every week!!I

Well, I WONDERED what happened to the pictures of Ruah!! I certainly understand why you did that, but I thought you were having trouble with your blog site again, and was going to ask you about it!! I think that was a good idea, though, given how many weirdos there out there, trolling the internet.

I have to say, I much prefer that floral fabric in the pink. But then, I’ve always been more a “pink and purple” girl than a “blue girl”–probably because blue was mom’s favorite color, and when I was young, she dressed me in blue a LOT. I got tired of it, and for many years would not buy anything blue. Now I do have some blue clothes–but way more in the pinks and purples!!

I’m so glad Kristen’s pretty dress will have a “home”. It’s hard to know exactly why something doesn’t sell sometimes–or why there will be a bidding war, pushing the price Way up there!!

    1. I love frosting too. Something about butter and sugar…. YUM
I always try to get the corner unit of sheet cakes like this for the most frosting haha

Oh, It tink your boy decorated cake was just perfect! However, I would have put those tiny baby booties on it somewhere, that would make it look like a cake for a baby. They were good enough for me!

While the blue rose fabric is pretty, but it doesn’t have the same “young” feel as the pink one does. You picked the right one for Ruah!

So YOU changed the pictures of Ruah! I thought it was my computer that was going bonkers! Good idea, because she is a beautiful child!

I was wondering if Kirsten’s dress sold or not, and saw the “sold” sign above it, but wondered how that happened. Oh my, that little girl who receives it is going to be so happy to get such a treasure!

Jeanne, I am 86 today, I wish you could send me a piece of that cake!! We will go to our Wednesday healing service this morning and I surely do hope it will help my back, also the back shot on Friday!
I understand the pencil photos, these days you have to be so careful. Sad. I loved seeing them yesterday.
Wishes for a happy birth for the little boy, and good times for you at your parties.

        1. Hi Sissy and a very happy 86th birthday to you today! I’m so sorry your back is out of order right at a time when you should be celebrating! I pray you feel better very soon! I know you have lots to do and things to accomplish!!
Love you Sissy and have a wonderful “pain free back” day!
          Blessings, Jeanne

Hi, Your cakes are great and there nothing wrong with being a Party Animal, just means there is a lot of happiness! Have a good day! We are having another real warm one!

  4. Very attractive cake, Jeanne. I love cake. This one is beautiful!!

I commented late yesterday…. I got busy at the old house, cleaning up.
There is still a lot of stuff. I have not finished packing the china cabinet, and several of the kitchen cabinets are not completely empty.
I need to drag the little Montgomery Ward freezer purchased in 1986, out of the front door and let it defrost outside on the front stoop…. won’t that be attractive…?
Tomorrow I am hoping to go to my first “Stitch and Chat” here in my new neighborhood
I will bring a large beautiful quilt that has at least half of the binding still to be sewn on.
I hope all of you have a great day.
Jeanne, I am so happy Beth is buying the dress. It is a gem.

Dear Jeanne, I love the cake! Carrot Cake is my second favorite cake. The first is traditional wedding cake, white cake with white icing.

Happy Birthday, Sissy!! Hope you have a delightful day.

Since cake has come up, I’m one of those people who does not like carrot cake at all. I think it is a texture thing, but to have stuff floating around in a slice of cake is not for me. No coconut around here either. Another that I do not like is champagne cake. I do love chocolate, white, or yellow cake though and frosting is my friend unless someone decides to dump coconut on the top of it. πŸ™‚

Yesterday turned into a got not much done day. I did manage a walk, but barely. I seems that I have contracted a cold of some kind. Pretty miserable with the sore throat and coughing going on. Can’t figure out where I picked it up, but it is nasty. Haven’t had a cold since I retired from teaching. Sure hope that it gets better soon as I’m not a happy camper.

    1. So sorry you’re not feeling well, Joy. Relax with a good movie and hot tea with honey and lemon. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks so much Laura. I’m feeling like I’m a little better. I need to be up and around to keep an eye on other person. This morning, I told him he was incharge of feeding cats. Looked like all was well until I opened the front door and found barf all over the mat. Poor kitty, Charlotte. Finally found some out of date saltines that weren’t stale at all. So, that was something edible for me. I’m heading in to drink the rest of my Pepsi. I know, not doctor’s orders. Hee hee

  7. The carrot cake turned out lovely. I do like carrot cake and coconut cake, but there are others I prefer more.
That was good idea changing all the photos of Ruah, especially if you parents didn’t know they would be put on the internet. Hopefully no one bad had found them. I have never posted a photo of my daughter at any age on the internet. When I shared, it was always in person or through the mail.
The blue fabric is lovely.. then again, I have always preferred blues to pinks. For pinks, it has to be certain shades of pink or rose. In times past, blue was the baby girl color and pink was the boy’s.

Thank y’all for the kind birthday wishes! I am hoping for the pain doc to give me the best givift on Friday. My sons sent me a gorgeous bouquet from the local flower shop. I suggested they use that place after some of the mailed ones were pretty bad when they arrived. Peyton is taking me out for a good seafood dinner.
Joy I hope your cold is a quick recovery!!β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

That’s great on the flowers and the dinner too. Enjoy! I think that I will recover. Cough here appears to be subsiding a little. Now, this is funny. After feeling so punk for the last few days, I just checked my emails and there was one from my Kaiser doctor. Who would have thought? Time for the yearly blood work that they didn’t order for me last year at all. Ironic, isn’t it? πŸ™‚
