Hi everyone,
My sisters and their hubby’s have arrived, so I am a very happy camper!! Our adventures will start tomorrow!!!
Today you’ll get to see a few new swimsuits I made for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls. (Sorry about the lighting) it’s WAY OFF TONIGHT! It’s fun coming up with new ideas using bits and baubles of this and that. They were already dressed so I just lined them up against the wall and took a few pictures. I have made 10 swimsuits, but I sold the blue and pink swimsuit but have made 5 new ones, so here are those nine!
This isn’t a new Ruby Red for me… it’s James… with a wig on. I liked his coloring for this silvery suit. It gathers from the side and has a silver buckle in the middle.
Rozen is showing off a new bubblegum pink swimsuit. It has tiny iridescent sequins on the fabric. (there is also a pink one laying with the others that is new. I may add something to it to jazz it up. )
Sara is modeling another suit made from that brightly colored sparkly fabric… only this one has a sheer green ruffle.
Lavender is modeling a dark purple suit that has a slip on skirt if you like. It just might be my favorite. This fabric is super drapey and is perfect for a fluid skirt.
Here are a few more pictures…
I haven’t had time to list them anywhere, but if you are interested… they are $24.00. I have so many ideas in my head for more but need to concentrate on a few other things now too!
See you tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne

Isn’t it fun, how sometimes you get started on one relatively simple garment, and suddenly you have all kinds of ideas for variations? Back when I was working in a doll shop, I had a jumper pattern for American Girl dolls that was like that. I made some for my dolls and for friends’ dolls, but my boss also let me sell things I’d made in her shop. I wish now I’d taken pictures of all the variations I came up with!
Anyway, I love some of the variations you’ve come up with here. The draped belt on the silver suit is really nice, and a good detail. I like the little belt on the pink one, too. And of course the purple one (although it reads more navy than purple in some of the pictures on my monitor) is easily my favorite. I really love that skirt you added!
Some other ideas: one-shouldered; a little shirring down the CF of the bodice, or up the side seams from the leg openings; maybe make it sort-of strapless but with a little narrow strap coming up from the CF and around the neck; a ruffle around the neck……
Hope you and George and your sisters and their hubbies all have a great time together! I wonder if the ladies will go thrift shopping?!!
I bet your clothes were a big feature for the doll shop!
Great ideas for suits.
Thank you, Rosemary. I did have one or two ladies who always looked for my things, as they said they knew my garments were well made! That was nice to hear.
You have been busy, Jeanne, and who would have thought it would be with swimsuits? What a cute bevy of suits too, and perfect for this crazy hot weather we all seem to be having!
I love the little differences you have made with each suit, and especially love that two piece purple one, that can also double as a playsuit! Wow, the glamorous silver one, the pretty bubblegum colored suit, the little ruffle on one, and the various different materials certainly will make it difficult to pick just one! You seem to have a suit for every doll’s personality!
Have fun with your sisters, but I don’t think you need to hear that, because you always do!
Those bathing suits are great! I love the pink sparkly one and the various styles are all unique for those wanting to get one.
Our windows are foggy this morning – it means another icky humid day. I’m staying indoors whether it’s our house, air condition car or air conditioned store. Summer is not nice anymore.
Jeanne, have a wonderful time with your siblings! I know you must have some fun things planned that you will be doing.
This next month I’ll be visiting my siblings and a few friends I haven’t seen for a long time.
Everyone- have a nice day!
yes, gonna be a big humid day here. Stay cool and fresh Paula
Jeanne, your suits are so pretty, each one different and so colorful. I think the purple one with the skirt will be the one that will fly out first! I’m so glad you had so much fun for us to see today, as I had meant to send you some photos I took of my Kish dolls at the beach years ago. I will try to remember to send them today.
We are off again to the Y. I surely to hope it will be better than Friday. I still have grabs of pain but I managed to get to church twice, Saturday a funeral and Sunday. Last night’s bed time was better than the night before.
In between resting I am boxing up a LOT of my stuff I have gotten over many years and don’t need any more. These things are for the “Helper Room” at the Modern doll convention. People buy tickets to try to win items that have been donated for all sorts of doll things. I have boxed up doll furniture, lots of it, a few dolls, and yesterday 16 bags of hats of all sizes, 4 and 5 hats to a bag. Today will be doll shoes and clothes. I just can’t believe the amount of stuff I have accumulated! Since my neighbor and I are just 40 miles from the hotel in Savannah, all the items donated that are mailed are sent to our houses to be picked up by the Modern doll people a few days before the convention. We got free registration for doing this, YAY!
Another hot day, stay cool!
Sissy, I always enjoy your updates. I am glad you are keeping busy and perky. I would love to see your dolls at the beach!
How exciting to be gathering up so many doll accessories for the doll convention!! What fun! I am so glad you get to go too
Thank you, Rosemary. I am feeling better today, very hopeful all
will be ok when I go. It is a good way to pass on toys that I don’t play with any more.
So nice of you to donate to the helper room. I’m sure there will be a rush of tickets for your items. I sure hope that someday I might be able to make it to a convention. Looks like a lot of fun.
I’m not so happy about the progress from the latest round of shots. Sure hope that you are continuing to get better everyday. I’m for instant relief. 🙂
And I too would love to see the Kish girls at the beach photos. 🙂
Thank you, Joy, I am better today that before, since the shot.
I hope you and other are over your Covid.
I have sent the photos to Jeanne. They are very well done,
I was just playing around with them.
I meant they are NOT very well done.!
Jeanne, these suits are charming, just so cute. I really adore all of the suits to found and used! Tiny prints make the best suits for these little girls. All of these suits are winners!
I hope you have a really fun time with your sisters We are so fortunate to have siblings
Happy Monday
Oh, the suits are so cute. The girls here are debating which one they like best. Any chance that Jeanne might be making some things for the boys? You know, fun cotton swim shorts like they all wear now. The girls could model them with a towel I guess. And what about towels for the outfits? That would be fun too.
Here, it is still foggy, but will probably be in the 80’s. The tomatoes will appreciate some heat as it has been so cool here this summer. I love it personally. 🙂
And, my latest dolly acquisition may arrive today. Well, at least that was the message I received from the USPS. A fast trip from Reno. Can’t wait to see her. She is not a new doll, but one of Tonner’s from the past. 🙂
I just discovered that the Ruby Red Toys site has a new home. Everything is basically the same for ordering, but some new graphics. Hopefully, that will help out with their crashing problem. Looks like they are covering any tariffs until the end of August too, so that is nice. Might need to do some shopping. 🙂
So, I spent a lot of yesterday searching the house for a piece of chalk. Chalk? Well, other person has gotten back into the fix the upper deck mode and wants to mark the boards to be replaced. Here I am a retired teacher and for the life of me, I could not find a box of chalk. I know there is some around here somewhere, but where is yet to be found. Where is it? I did discover that there is not any chalk in the junk drawer. But, did discover some interesting artifacts there. My next location to check is the drawer in my sewing machine. I must have a piece there. 🙂
Take care everyone and stay well.
Dear Jeanne, I love the swimsuits. I like the little skirt that goes along with the blue one.
Dear Sofa Sisters, I just returned from the amazing UFDC Convention in Norfolk! I will send Jeanne some photos when I upload them to my computer. In the meantime, if you have Facebook (unfortunately, I don’t), you can see some photos that have been posted on the UFDC website. Here is the link:
https://www.facebook.com/100038572519275/photos/1538001140828955/?_rdr
The Convention was wonderful. I got to see so many friends in person who have been in Zoom boxes for months (smile). The salesroom had amazing treasures. I didn’t buy any, though. I didn’t win anything in the Helper (think “raffle”) Room. A club member won 9 dolls!
The souvenir dolls were created by Robert Tonner. Unfortunately, we did not get them. They were delayed and I think that the tariffs were an issue. We will be sent the dolls when they arrive in the States. We got to see prototypes so at least we know what they look like.
I will share more information later.
The convention next year will be in New Orleans! The theme is Past, Present, and Future.
Dorothy, that you so much for the info from the UFDC site. I really enjoyed seeing it and miss going there. I have only been 4 times and gave workshops every time. It has so much to see and do. I do prefer MDCC because it is smaller. I have made so many friend there, and this will be the first year I have not given a workshop. I will help in the helper room and go to a few of the events.
Thanks again.
Busy day yesterday, so I missed Anne and Barbara’s posts. Lovely to see you, Anne, and your family. I’m so happy you got to make this trip and are having a great time.
Your dolls all look so sweet, Barbara. I love your matching mini Hanna twins as well as your Gotz doll.
Very cute swimsuits, Jeanne. My favorite is the one on Sara without question.
