Hi everyone,
I had to go back and catch up on the comments from Friday… and have to add my mom to the list of “moms who are missed!” I miss her a lot and wish so much for even just a one-hour conversation with her. Wouldn’t that be wonderful???
Okay, today is the day I am revealing all the boys Board Shorts I’ve made. There are 19 pair in the pictures with 8 more “under construction!” I was doing duplicates since sewing with the same color thread was more time efficient, but I did find myself getting a bit bored with doing it that way. I think if I just did 3 or 4 pair in the same fabric, at a time, it would be more fun for me.
So here are some pictures of Russell and James showing them off…
Each pair is unique and original to the design it has. This wasn’t cookie cutter cutting out. Each piece was strategically cut out to give the shorts their best look!
I’ve looked online, on Etsy and Ebay and think I have a good idea of how I want my boys (and girls) shorts to look. It’s taken me making all these shorts to really have a handle of how to put them together in the quickest, but nicest way. Right now, I’m just going to be selling the shorts by themselves… flip flops would have been great, but I need to get these out there and I’ll worry about shirts of shoes later.
Here are some closeups so you can see my work. I’ve tried hard to make a good quality pair of shorts.
They slip on, but don’t look bulky to me.
I think Joy wanted these 2 pair… if not, just let me know, Joy.
I made this pair out of a boys Land’s End pair of swim shorts. They look really cute, but when I was sewing them, I must have had a bur on the end of my sewing machine needle because I see a few spots where a thread was pulled. I’ll show a close up so you can see. It’s not really noticeable when they are on the doll, but up close you can see it… The pull can be seen as little white dots…
I have debated about how to sell them… and will probably go through Etsy as they give a discount on the shipping when bought through them. But I’m offering them here first.
Most of the shorts will be $23.00 with a one-time $5.00 shipping fee for as many pair as you want to buy. :o) I will be shipping them with tracking because I want to be able to let you know where they are at any time. I was a wreck when I sent one of Anne’s sweaters to someone and didn’t use tracking… and it took almost 2 weeks. EEK!
The blue ones that have the threads pulled in them will be $20.00 and the ones with just an elastic waist (no square or flaps topstitched) will be $20 as well.
I have plenty of fabric to make many more, but I’m hoping to get at least one little Easter dress made if possible. I just might have a new girl to share! *wink* *wink*
Thanks everyone! If you need more pictures, you can look back at my last couple of posts and see MOST of the shorts, but if you need something else, let me know…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

So many cute styles to choose from!! But Nolan has made his choice, with an alternate or two, and I have emailed Jeanne about them already.
New doll, huh?! I wonder who she can be??
Good morning, everyone today on dear Jeanne’s blog.
These shorts are cuties, I love all of them. I love the pair with the sharks enjoying swim floaties. That pair even though the fabric is pulled, it is still really cute.
A girl could even wear those!! Great work Jeanne, and a lot of fun keeping up tricky sewing skills.
I made 4 gooses this week-end. They are not stuffed. I have stuffing but I save that for when we are watching tv in the evening: an hour or so of youtube- The Clever Cowgirl and Luna the Pantera. We try a show now and then, but ugh… so much swearing and etc.
I will send Jeanne a photo of my gooses unstuffed.
I have also been working on my gigantic quilt blocks and set aside the other quilt I can’t decide on a border.
I hope all of you had a fun productive week-end. The weather was so nice!! A little too warm yesterday but really, wow, I went to Home Depot and got some phlox and other sorts similar. I dug up over a dozen liriope and piled them on the driveway.
I put a notice on the neighborhood information sharing but I think no one is interested in liriope. I will probably put them in the trash. One neighbor suggested planting them along the woods but I will not do that. I do not have a wheelbarrow to carry them to the dumper where they are still building homes, but I do have a little red wagon. No… I won’t
Happy Monday
Those board shorts are all so cute! I especially like the blue with the little white sharks all over. No boy dolls here, though, so no temptation.
I always get excited when I hear “New doll”… I have two dolls I’m (im)patiently waiting on – Meadowdolls Gemma dumpling, and Kaye Wiggs Leilani. Both are quite aways off, though. Can’t wait to see Jeanne’s new doll!
I know that the long wait is so frustrating, but how wonderful that you have two lovely dolls coming. Congrats!
Yes, two new dolls coming…. after telling myself numerous times, “No more dolls! You have no room!” 🙂 I have no will-power when it comes to an extra cute face.
So much fun seeing the shorts parade. Love the fun colors. Makes me happy thinking that summer will be here soon.
We had a nice weekend, although, it was still in the 80’s, but very comfortable in the shade. Still pulling weeds. At this rate, it will be July, and I still won’t be done. My new strategy I think that I mentioned is to select a spot where seed heads are starting to mature. Then, grab them yank, and drop into the can. So, that works, except when I run into a patch that has some blackberry hidden underneath. Ouch! I’ve also found that when I’m watering the existing good established plants, I also water the patch than I plan to work on when there is some shade later on. Then, the weeds come up a lot easier. I’m thinking that in complete frustration, I may have to dig out my old propane flame and hit the weeds coming up in the gravel. Although, that could be disastrous as the weeds are already pretty high. Must form a better plan.
We did go to Kohl’s yesterday. Some great sales on decor for Easter going on there. And I couldn’t believe that they also have out their 4th of July things too. Not going there yet. I did pick up a couple of tee shirts for me. Getting kind of tired of the winter wardrobe around here. 🙂
I really enjoyed seeing Jeanne’s lovely creations because here, there hasn’t been any sewing going on at all. Looking forward to seeing Rosemary’s gaggle of geese too. I’ll bet they are adorable.
Such cute pix. Like a Walmart for RubyRed!🥰
We are back from the Y and the grocery stores. This is a week without a single Doc appointment or a computer visit, NICE! The weather is fine, mid 6 ties in the am and up to hot in the aft. Every thing is green or beautiful colors.
Speaking of colors, I love all the colorful shorts and hope you will find buyers, Jeanne. They should go well, they are so cute on the dolls and the different patterns are so festive.
Have a nice day to you all.
The summer shorts parade is fun to see. My favorites are the bright madras plaid (yellow/ blue), the ones front and center, and the ones up to the right of those with the surf boards.
Hard to be sure, but the blue ones look like they should be named “Sharks Just Wanna Have Fun.” Consider reserving maybe two pair, if the swimsuits you made sometime back would fit under the shorts, and add swimsuits and shirts or light jackets and flip-flops for girls’ outfits. The Easter dress comes first.
It’s cloudy here today, but any chance of rain is remote. The grass is trying to turn green anyway, and my crabapple is starting to bloom. Usually a spring snow gets the blossoms so there are no crabapples to rake in the fall, but we’re not expecting snow this year.
Good morning all, it is Tuesday and 8.25 am here and coffee morning.
The shorts are lovely Jeanne, I don’t have any boy dolls even if you shipped to NZ but they are great.
Sam and I stripped the grape vine on Saturday. We filled two banana boxes with grapes and I took them down to Delta. I still have another vine with different grapes but they will take another couple of weeks to sweeten up. The deck looks very different with no grape vine to attack you, It is hard to imagine how the new shoots appear in the spring when you see one bare stick but that is what happens.
Better think about getting showered and dress.
Have a great day everyone
I hope you had a great day Anne!
I chain sewed all day and I took a break to clean the bathrooms, then pressing seams and more chain sewing
