A few new things around here…

Hi everyone,
YAY! We finished our taxes today and will hopefully be able to drop them off tomorrow! I was hoping to go today, but I found my hubby had fallen asleep so I let him continue his nap.

I made 4 new pair of board shorts! If you don’t have a Ruby Red Fashion Friend doll, you are probably BORED with these BOARD shorts. I’ve kind of gotten in a groove and just tried out a new way to put them together tonight. The flamingo pair were my test shorts. But as I was putting them together, I thought of one more shortcut I hope might work. It’s all about efficiency when sewing. Anyway, here are the new ones…

I only have ONE pair of the Jurassic Park Logo shorts. I found a pair of boys swim shorts and it only had ONE logo, so I was only able to cut out one pair with it. There is a second pair without the logo, but they have the dinosaurs.

Here are 2 more pair being modeled by Rozen and Lavender (bald Lavender!)

Here’s the whole gang showing off the new shorts…

Here is a picture of the board shorts I have available.
If you missed the post when I introduced them, I am selling them on my blog for $23, plus $5.00 shipping for as many pair as you’d like to buy. Just contact me if you are interested in any.

Now, here she is… my newest little doll… AND my “littlest” new doll. She measures 5.5″ tall and is much smaller when you see her next to Bailey. Her name is Yu Ping and she is Ten Ping’s little sister.

I have been helping Suemae with her descriptions and listings on Ebay and identifying which outfits go with which dolls, and she sent me Yu Ping as a gift for helping her. I wanted to pay her, but she insisted on me just receiving her as a gift. Awww… :o) She knew I had Ten Ping as we were talking about Susette’s display of her Ten Ping and Yu Ping beside her.

Here are some pictures of Yu Ping. She has a few tiny freckles across her nose… and has a mohair wig that is in braids.

She’s not as articulated as Ten Ping, but she can bend her knees and feet. Her arms don’t bend, which would have been nice to hold onto a teddy bear.

I took her clothes off to see how tiny she really was. Yep, she’s pretty little.

Can you see her freckles?

I introduced her to Bailey and had them sit side by side to compare them.

They do have the same size feet, which is wonderful when making little shoes.

Here is Ten Ping, Yu Ping and Bailey for size differences.

Yu Ping has a slight greenish cast to her skin… Her pictures look better on here, than in person, which is good for me… When she’s next to Ten Ping, she is definitely a different color. I know it will help when I get some clothes on her…

I got out a sample bodice I made to test for Bailey and Navi and it’s just a bit big on her. Actually it’s too wide… not so much big.
I drafted a pattern for Dazzle, which is a little doll that shares the same body as Yu Ping. I just need to find the pattern pieces I figured out fit her best.

Here she is sitting with Ten Ping…

It will be fun seeing what I come up with for her debut dress! I hope I have time for a pretty Easter dress!

I will see you tomorrow with pictures from Rosemary. She’s been making fabric Geese! Oh how fun!
Blessings, Jeanne

The new shorts came out really cute, Jeanne. It’s a good thing that Nolan is sleeping tonight, or he’d no doubt want a pair of dinosaur shorts, too! However, I do think I have some dinosaur-print t-shirt fabric, so maybe he will be happy with a dinosaur t-shirt. Either that, or bugs. I have bug print, too!

Little Yu Ping is so sweet!! And how lovely of Suemae to give her to you for your help with Susette’s things. Congratulations on your new addition!

I went back and read thru everyone’s comments on yesterday’s blog, and replied to several of them, including two of Barbara’s and two of Joy’s (one of which was in reference to Dorothy’s question).

    1. Joy in northern CA

Tks Charlotte. I just went back and looked at your comments. Interesting about your husband’s grandmother still being alive at your wedding time and finding out years later. Family history is so interesting.

    2. Barbara in SE Texas

I love the idea of being able to visit with ancestors. I would love to be able to sit down with my maternal grandmother. She was such an important part of my life. She passed away in 1978 and I still miss her. I have so many questions I never thought to ask when she was alive. I guess when you’re young you’re not terribly curious about the past. I know a lot but there are a lot of things I don’t know and wish I did.

  2. Linda in St. Louis

I love all the newest additions s to your swim shorts lineup, Jeanne! What cute cheerful prints that will surely catch some little boy’s (or girl’s) eyes! What a great price too, considering it is a whole outfit!😊. Well, maybe some flip flops might be cute too, with them.

Yu Ping is adorable! How sweet of Suemae to offer her to you! I see that she is a different color, but she looks more Asian that way. By the way, no, I don’t see any freckles on her. I guess they are to light for the monitor, but she certainly is a sweetie pie!πŸ₯°

Jeanne, I love you two “Tings” together! How sweet of Suemae to give the little one to you. What fun to sew twin outfits for them! They could go for both or separate. Nice that the shoe size matches with Bailey’s. Looking forward to seeing them dressed. I did see the faint freckles on one picture.
Also looking forward for George’s health to improve.
Also looking forward to see you on a riding mower!!

Having a little rain this am. We will be going to the neighbor’s house for our weekly group with our priest, then I will be working upstairs in the sewing room.
Also checking the blog when other check in.

Rosemary, I am looking forward to the “Goose Report”.

Barbara, we do have leaves broken up with a mower in the open yard, but we also have lots of big trees and also bushes. Those leaves have to be raked or blown out, put in wheel barrows, and done away with. That is the big work.

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

So glad we don’t have to do anything with leaves like you do. I know I wouldn’t be able to do it myself. But we’ve lost so many trees over the past few years with so many drought years and some others will have to be taken down to make way for the houses. We bought the property for all the beautiful trees and do miss them but once they get stressed you have to take them down or risk damage of one kind or another. We had one that a limb hung out over the street and we worried that it might fall on someone’s car so that one surely had to go. Another was hanging over a mobile home and dropping branches so it had to be taken down. We do have a few pecan tress left and my Crepe Myrtle “trees” are doing well but their leaves aren’t a problem.

      1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Interesting about your trees. I planted 2 Crape Myrtle’s in 2000 when we moved into our house. After a few years other trees grew up from our neighbor and blocked them out. Now they are so tall all they do is drop leaves on the roof. I will have to get them taken down soon. It is sad, they were so lovely years ago.

  4. Happy Wednesday everyone! Jeanne, your shorts are so nice, they look perfectly made! I still like those sharks on floaties the best! really fun fabric.

I am sure Suemae is appreciative of your help, Jeanne. This was a huge ordeal for her. I know and understand. My parents had a lot of stuff too. It is just really hard.
This little tiny doll is so cute. I love tiny things πŸ™‚ I love the shot with all of them together! YuPing will be a very special treasure for you. I am so glad you have her in the family, all of your dolls must be smitten with her, and those freckles. She will need some tiny clothes.

What is going on!? the days are just flying by! It seems I am scrambling every day to get things done. I need to get back to some old habits and make check lists of
daily activities, otherwise I am upstairs sewing… oblivious to obligations and duties!!!

It is cloudy here in Northern Virginia too, Sissy. I hope we get some rain or something. I mean if there is no sunshine, just rain already!
Joy, I hope you are winning the battle of the weeds. Our old property is managing okay, but we are surrounded up there on the hill by properties with weeds over.

Here at the new house, we have a tiny lawn but they put down the worst sod with
some kind of sprawling “grass” weed. I also pulled up all of the liriope plants (over a dozen) and three Nandina. (generously provided by the builder) I am gonna plant them over at the old house, maybe this week-end. That will be a fun job.
Jeanne, I hope George is improving every day, and things around the house are manageable.

  5. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, it’s always wonderful to receive dolls as gifts. That’s the magic of World Doll Day in June. We are encouraged to give dolls to our friends. I love giving dolls to my friends, especially when they don’t expect a gift.

  6. Joy in northern CA

Oh, the latest shorts are both adorable. Good work, Jeanne. However, I would still like a bikini type top for the girls to wear with their shorts. πŸ™‚ Something simple would be fun.
And seeing Yu Ping is a treat. The one here is waving back and says that she always needs shoes. πŸ™‚ I love the foot comparison photo and the one with the three little ones. So cute. That was very sweet of Suemae, to give you such a nice gift. Looking forward to new outfits for everyone. They would be so cute in spring companion outfits.
Yesterday, we worked at the other house and managed to get a lot of weeding and mowing done. Looks so much better. Then, when the shade appeared here, I did some more weed pulling. The only good thing is that I have so many choices of spots in the yard that need attention it doesn’t get boring. I keep moving to different places that have the most tall grasses going to seed. However, my allergies finally caught up with me so I will probably have to start taking something since I am allergic to grass. Go figure.

    1. A-choo, Joy. I have been avoiding yard chores. …. very bad.
I hope to muster up some enthusiasm this week-end.
You have a tiny YuPing too? How adorable. They are the cutest!
So when are you going to take a long break and get to that sewing project?
Don’t make me come over and force you πŸ˜‚

      1. Joy in northern CA

I do have YuPing and her twin brother too. There is something about the little ones that I love. No breaks for sewing yet. Had to make a quick trip to Target to pick up cat food and then up to the other house to put the yard can back after pick up. Then, I’ll be back to more weeding later this afternoon. I have to keep on it. It’s the only way the yard will ever get back to normal. πŸ™‚

    2. Barbara in SE Texas

Tell your young lads that they are welcome to visit and use my pool anytime they wish. It’s always filled and available.

      1. Joy in northern CA

Oh boy, now I’ll never hear the end of it. I think they read your answer above and have decided to pack up. Ha ha Thank you!

  7. Barbara in SE Texas

YuPing is so tiny and cute. I love the outfit she is wearing. I don’t know if I’d be into sewing outfits so small though. Can’t wait to see where your imagination takes you making clothes for her and maybe sister outfits for her and TenPing. What a wonderful surprise from Suemae. A very thoughtful gift for sure.

I love all your board shorts and was thinking they would be cute on girls too. I like Joy’s idea of little tops to go with them for the girls – and flipflops.

  8. Marilyn in Colorado

If a bathing suit wouldn’t fit under the shorts, a sun top, as Joy suggested, would be cute. I still want you to save a couple pairs as the beginning of outfits for girls. I especially like the sharks wanna have fun ones and maybe the flamingos. For some reason, I keep visualizing a eyelet cover-up.

Yu Ping is going to be fun to design for.

Yesterday, buds were showing on the crabapple tree — today it’s in full blossom. Really beautiful.

  9. Joy Lynne Carter

The board shorts are so cute…. I love miniature things. But YuPing is so sweet, I don’t know which Pic I liked more.

  10. Theresa in Indiana

I have Yu Ping, too, along with Ten Ping, her friend Gigi, and Ten Ping and Yu Ping’s little brother, Shan. Shan is the same size as Yu Ping. I can’t imagine sewing for such little dolls, either!

    1. Joy in northern CA

How funny. I have all of those you mentioned too! They are standing here waving towards Indiana. πŸ™‚

      1. Theresa in Indiana

Oh, that’s funny, Joy. πŸ™‚ I’ll have to turn mine around – they are currently facing east.

        1. Joy in northern CA

Oh, yes, head west as they say. No idea where you are, but my group settled in Daviess County in maybe 1820. πŸ™‚
