A tiny 4th of July dolly dress started…

Hi everyone,
Welcome home Charlotte,
You had a whirlwind trip and I hope you’ll be back to normal soon. Sometimes going on vacation makes you wish you had another vacation.
Anne must be staying so busy she can’t check in… maybe she will soon.

I’m sorry some of you are losing your comments the last few days… I just went over to Sarah’s house today to take her something and thank her in person for getting things back in order for my blog. She asked if everything was going well and I said, “I think so…” Maybe I spoke too soon.

Thank you for all your sweet comments yesterday on my appliqued overalls. I really did enjoy making them… the sky was the limit and I had fun coming up with new ideas. I used to buy the overalls and skirtalls whenever I found them on sale… When I was ready to switch to something else… I think I sold over 50 pair on Ebay … I will have to do a little searching in my books and see if I can find that listing and how many I sold. I got out just at the right time… the “Boutique” way of making them sort of fizzled out “right after I sold all my items!” Thank goodness my timing was right.

I was able to get in my sewing room today and I wanted to make something quick to have for the Fourth of July. I was hoping to get this set made today but I had to start over almost as soon as I started… This happened…

I found a little boys blue and white striped “slightly” seersucker jacket and cut it up for this fabric… It had a silky lining in it and I thought maybe that would make the dress a little bit thinner… well this happened…

I hadn’t even gotten it turned with my hemostats when it started raveling along the neck edge…

I also noticed a few skipped stitches along the neckline, so I just cut out a new one and started over.

Yes, I’m sewing for Bailey again… thinking I could get this done in one day. BECAUSE… I found out the dresses I make for Bailey can be shared with the new little Dazzle 5.5″ Ruby Red Fashion Friend doll.

The shoes, the hat and the dress will fit both dolls. The dress is “almost finished; needs something at the waist. It’s going to be red white and blue but not your typical Fourth of July dress. You’ll see…

Oh, remember the Barbie doll I got at Goodwill, because I wanted to try and use her tennis shoes to make Ten Ping some shoes? Well, I took off the shoes and kept them and was about to put Barbie in with my stuff to donate to the Thrift shop or the Goodwill, when I saw this…
A tiny little red watch! I thought that just might fit Bailey…and it did! It’s SO cute…

Here is the watch on Bailey.

The dress has 4 tiny red buttons on the bodice and I’m trying to decide if I want a bow or a sash… stay tuned.

Now, you’ll have to use your imagination again on the rest of the dress set… can you figure it out? :o)

Maybe this will help… :o)

I hope to get it finished soon… then I’ll move onto another one.

Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you Monday!
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh my goodness, Jeanne, what an adorable little outfit! This is the kind of dress I would put on a doll for the Fourth, not one with flags and such that can only be worn one day! I love those tiny red buttons, and that watch is perfect! That must really be a tiny watch!

I am pretty sure you are going to make a red straw hat and pretty red shoes next!
Maybe you could find a tiny flag too!

I thought I was the first one to comment tonight, Linda, but I guess you beat me to the “reply” button!

Ha, ha, Charlotte! I had no idea I would be first, but I guess I was! I was up and ready to go at that time. When do you get up in the morning?? I get up at 3 a.m. which just be 1 a.m. your time!

Linda, I am a night owl–always have been. I go to bed around 3, up about 10 or so, except fr Sundays, when I get up about 8:30.

Thanks to everyone for all their nice comments yesterday. Today it was back to reality–paying the last few bills that had come in, practicing music for Sunday, etc….

Oh, that is SO exciting, that Bailey’s things will fit Dazzle!! And of course *I* have a Dazzle, and she is getting Really Tired of the outfit she came in!! And thinks red shoes and a red hat would be just the ticket to go with “her” new dress that Auntie Jeanne is making!! 😂 It seems another fashionista has come to live at my place! (And she really NEEDS a watch, you know!)

That fabric raveling like that….I’ll bet there’s at least some polyester in it, as those look like polyester or other synthetic threads at least for the vertical ones.

Anyway, Bailey/Dazzle’s outfit is coming along nicely. Can’t wait to see the finish!

  3. Happy Friday dear ones!
Jeanne, your attempt at sewing with this thinner lining is disappointing. I have been there and done that…. a few times!!!
I love this striped dress and the red buttons and the little watch is pretty cute too. I think a red bonnet will be lovely!
    Enjoy the day, everyone!!
I am moving stuff, my car is already stuffed, and I just need to start the dishwasher and perhaps a load of laundry and scoot out of here, hope to be back in time for lunch.
    Enjoy the week-end too

Loved seeing Bailey’s dress. What a perfect outfit for the fourth. She will rock the party! Can’t wait to see her possible hat and shoes. She’s one lucky girl.
Well, no update here on my Abigail, who seems to be really enjoying the Hong Kong airport. She’s been there for days. Hoping she can catch a flight out soon as her little lamb is here awaiting her arrival. 🙂 But, my order for some items from RRGalleria is finally out of customs in NY. So that is positive. Maybe I’ll see that package in the near future. 🙂
I finally finished week one of the Sew Along dress yesterday. So slow around here. Even though I reduced the pattern to RRed size as usual, it is still big. I think the 18″ pattern provided was actually larger because I’ve reduced it several times which has always worked in the past. So, with the latest, I’m going to reduce it even further and hope for better results. We’ll see how it goes. Trying to catch up as it is already week three and I’m so behind.
    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Looking forward to your sewing photos, Joy. Hoping your dolls get there very quietly soon, with no other person finding them. I have ordered two things that are taking FOREVER to get here. One is one of the wooden puzzles you see sold on FB. This one is a LOTL’s puzzles for my younger son. The pieces are shaped as part of the people and places from the movie. I don’t no which foreign country it is coming from but i just hope it makes it by his August birthday. The other is out fit of slacks and a shirt that is taking forever. They are sold to help money for the National parts. However, I found out they are coming from Ireland!!! and taking forever to get here. We need more nice things being made in America!!

    2. Hi Joy, hope Abigail tires of the Hong Kong airport soon. Maybe she’s been offered lots of snacks or has to read one more magazine before she goes. The airport can’t be that interesting.
I’d love to see her with her sweet little lamb. I had no luck locating one at our CVS much to my Ruby Red’s disappointment. Felicity was rather miffed as well.

You know, I even looked up the company name on the lamb tag and did not find that lamb. Others, but not that one. It’s a company in LA.

We got a lot done today, the new freezer arrived and we managed to get all the food we had saved in coolers put in there, we though out more that a half. Just glad we could save some. I washed all the emptied containers and washed them in the machine. Then decided to go through all the containers we owned and recycle all the parts that didn’t fit. Now I am going to get our a few jars, put them in the dish washer and while they clean I will made peach jam for the freezer. I made that with strawberries in the winter and peaches in the summer. If you haven’t made freezer jam just ask me how. It is soooo easy an dgood good and you have it all year.
    Have a great weekend, Y’all!!

The arrival of the freezer and the working with the empty containers was yesterday, DUH!

Jeanne, Jeanne, Jeanne! I am SO happy to see you sewing again! Little Baliey is so cute in the wild “hat” you put on her, LOL. I love the dress and can’t wait to see the hat and shoes. I hope you can have a fun time sewing this weekend!

I had forgotten that Bailey was 6 inches so I’m glad her outfits will fit both the Twinkles and the Dazzle dolls. A bigger bidding war forthcoming?

I love the little blue/white dress with the red buttons and I’m sure the red straw hat and red shoes will be perfect for the outfit. Since Bailey is so tiny, I can’t imagine what you are going to do at the waist. I often find my plans for the waist on the outfits of my smaller dolls changes when I find that I have nothing small enough to make it work. Thank Heaven for those tiny bows with the pearls in the center. They get a lot of use around here.

Yesterday it was actually in the low 70s here. But it rained all day. Sean was lamenting how we finally get a good day for working but they can’t anyway for the rain. Right now it is sunny, warm and humid but there is supposed to be more rain coming in this afternoon. An area south of us got 12″ yesterday.

  8. Very cute sundress. I love seersucker, cool and comfy. The red watch is perfect and will make sure that Bailey isn’t late for the parade, concert, or fireworks. Well, that’s how it is is my town.
She’s getting a red straw hat to keep the sun off at the parade and sweet mary janes or perhaps sandals.

Well that is upsetting. I spent and hour telling you all about my trip so far and it has disappeared. It may be because I changed my heading and maybe it has gone to Jeanne for verification, If it has gone forever I am sorry but I haven’t time this morning to write again,

    1. Charlotte Trayer

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had problems with posting, Anne. Maybe next time you can make a copy and send it to Jeanne via email, and she can add it to the blog? Just a thought.

Anyway, it’s good to hear from you again. Looking forward to hearing more, as you have time.
