Hi everyone,
It’s that time again when all little girls in my house who model dolly clothes, must relinquish the outfit they’ve been standing in all week and let the winner have it. Yes, it’s the end of another Ebay auction from me tonight. This time it’s American Girl Molly who must take off that sweet “fruity forties” dress I called “Picnic Fun” and get back on the dolly shelf.
If you missed seeing this fun dress set, I hope you’ll take a peek on Ebay to see if you have a doll who needs it. You can click the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE. I’ll be watching to see if I know which little dolly is going to get it! :o)
I hope all the mother’s out there had a wonderful time being with family, if possible. I’ll show you what my kids got me for Mother’s Day:
Rebecca sent me a gift card along with her sweet card and then… what else… fabric! :o) This time it was something she picked up for me at her Joann Fabric’s store in PA that was going out of business. Look at this really pretty white with tiny pink flocked hearts tulle. I see LOTS of darling little slips in my future. There are 2 yards and it’s 54″ wide… YAY… plenty to make lots of slips!
Kristoffer drew this picture for me using a Sharpie pen… and he said this was about his 14th try. He kept making little mistakes and you know Sharpie markers…they are permanent. Then he framed it but he “knew” I’d have some gold ribbon, so we added the gold ribbon trim along the edges today when he came over… It’s in a stand up frame or I can hang it on my wall. It’s very nice!
Okay, do you want to know what I did this weekend? I played with a Barbie I found at the Goodwill. Well, actually, truth be told, I only played with her shoes. They are little clog like shoes and when I saw them, I thought, “I think these would work for Ten Ping… not for her foot to fit “inside” them, but for me to wet-mold my leather shoes around them. And you know what? I was right… they were an absolute perfect fit when they dried and were removed from the shoe mold. This is what I mean… Here is the Barbie with the tiny little rubber shoes on…
This is what I mean by using them for a shoe mold… The leather was wet and then molded around the “outside” of the shoe… and it was a great fit… for each pair of made… These shoes will fit the 8″ Ten Ping and Gigi dolls as well as the Mini Ruby Red Fashion Friend dolls like Sara, Hannah, Bella, Frieda, and maybe others I’ve forgotten.
Here are the 4 pair I made… (Yes, Ten Ping’s dress is about 2 sizes too small, but it was better than being nekkid! :o)
The pink ones were first… They are more like a clog… the toe was cut a little further back than the others. I had fun decorating them with some punched out leather flowers and beads. They were a very soft, thin leather so they look a bit more comfy on the feet.
The burgundy shoes were next… They were a little bit stiffer leather, but still soft… they molded VERY nicely.
Next I made a pair of mint green shoes… They are a really pretty color but my camera didn’t pick up how nice they look.
Each time I made a pair I tried to make it better than the one before. I should have wiped them off before I took my pictures. I see little pieces of fluff on them. Here are the metallic light gold or maybe platinum shoes… they asked for a bow on them! :o)
Well, that’s how I had fun this weekend… what did you do?
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What thoughtful children you have! They know just what you would like. Yes, that tulle will be wonderful for dolly slips, or you could even use it as the overlay on a party dress, and maybe make the sleeves sheer. (Hint hint)
TenPing’s shoes turned out very nicely. I know someone who thinks she Needs the pink ones!! 😂 Are you going to make outfits to go with these shoes, or just put them in your Etsy shop? Inquiring minds want to know!
Hope everyone had a nice Mother’s Day. I did, although it was a quiet one. I did post on yesterday’s blog.
Some year ahead of Mother’s Day, you should ask for pictures of our mothers–that might make a fun post on a day when you don’t have time to sew, perhaps?
Georgina.
We did have a beautiful day weather wise, Jeanne, for once! Sunny and warm, just right! I know how hard it is for some people to try to accomplish seeing their mothers, and mother-in-law’s, especially while working, so I told my daughter to spend time with her children and we will go out for lunch when school is over. She did bring me flowers at church, since we go to the same church, and then our so. Called from Denver for a nice long chat. It was nice to just relax and sit outside on the patio, and enjoy not having to do anything! Oh, I forgot to mention that I made a cherry pie just because I haven’t had one for so long!
Our neighbors had a crawfish boil yesterday outside, but oh gosh, that is not for me at all! Of course, they are from New Orleans, so I guess that’s a normal thing there. Their two children gave me a pretty African Violet plant and Mother’s Day card. They are the sweetest family!
I love the gifts you got from your children, who know you very well I love the pretty pink hearts on the tulle you got from Rebecca. Kristoffer is really a talented artist, why isn’t he an art teacher?? He would be wonderful with high schoolers!
The shoes are darling, and I could not figure out at first why you got a Barbie! That is the last doll I would ever get!🤣. But you knew all along what you were going to do with her!
Those shoes are just darling, and they will be a hit with the smaller dolls, who I am sure, don’t have a lot of shoes to pick from.
O60 h,Jeanne, what sweet tiny shoes! So good to see you working again. We will be heading out for the Y, water aerobics for me and the treadmill for Peyton. His hand doc still doesn’t want him to get in the pool. The treadmill has been good for his walking, though. We can see that he is walking better.
I got my 3 month back shot last week, it really helps.
My Mother’s Day was lovely. My sons called me together and we had a lovely talk in the car all the way to church. They sent flowers, tulips, which came on Saturday. I also received a face time with my 13 year old granddaughter. Her dad is my older son who will be 60, this month. His wife is 11 years younger. He traveled a LOT before settling down to getting married.
I hope each and every one of you had a lovely day.
