More pictures to hopefully make you smile…

HI everyone,
I was concentrating so hard on getting pictures ready for yesterday that I never even mentioned Memorial Day in my post. BIG OOPS! I don’t take those serving and those who HAVE served for our freedom lightly and please forgive me for not mentioning it!

I haven’t heard from Sarah yet, so I hope you don’t mind if I show a few more pictures and hope you can still smile instead of frowning knowing that it’s just random pictures… I am working on things I can show when I’m able to load pictures again… “Someone” got some new dolls and I’ll be sharing those… (Not me!) Okay, so let’s see how many things I can post that will bring a smile to your face.

This was my very first paragraph of my very first blog post, back on August 1st, 2014… and it’s still true today… hoping for smiles!

Hi, I’m Jeanne and I’d like to welcome you to my newest and very exciting adventure…. β€œI Dream of Jeanne Marie!” I still can’t believe it… a very dear friend created a website and blog for me and I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes us! I have high hopes and want this to be a fun place where you can smile and enjoy some pictures and see what’s happening in my world. I’ve been making a list of things I want to talk about and show you, so I hope you’re all ready for some fun. I even have some tutorials and sewing tips planned!

Let’s go…

After what seemed like a million tries, I finally got a pair of jeans I liked… so did James.

I didn’t feel well that day, but I “think” I perked up when my hubby spotted this… He should have kept walking… :o)

Sometimes the pictures REALLY make me smile…

Yes, my hubby caught me digging for fabric in an antique shop…

I can’t remember who these dolls belonged to…but they sure are having fun!

This was some black eyelash lace from Kathie… I LOVED it…

Kathie is closing out our pictures today… she sure had a wonderful smile…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, what fun pictures today, and I spotted some of mine in there!

The dolls (Maisie–red hair–and Cora) sitting on the baby bear are two of my Little Darlings, and I think I took those pictures for a challenge to show your dolls on a landmark that was in your town. Those bears are outside our library, and every kid who has been around since 1988 (when the library was built) have sat on one or the other of those bears, even my son, who was 13 when it opened! His oldest boy has sat on the bigger one, too. And the little toddlers all want to sit on the baby bear.

The other picture that is mine is my Gigi in her Jeanne Marie original outfit for the 4th of July, posed with three of my Annalee felt dolls, on the cross-stitch scarf.

It’s hard to believe you’ve been doing your blog for almost 11 years already. Time flies!

Please pass my condolences on to Deb and her husband on the loss of their sweet little dog. It’s always so hard to lose a pet.

Joy, I am envious of your homegrown artichokes! I love them, especially with homemade Hollandaise sauce. It’s been many years since I actually cooked a whole one (I do get things with artichoke hearts in/on them). Ron didn’t like things that were “messy” to eat (although for some reason he didn’t think corn on the cob fell into that category! Go figure…) so I decided not to fix them any more.

I’m going to try to sew for Dazzle, too, Joy, but it will have to wait until I get back from my trip. I still have a million things to do before I leave (in one week!). I’m going to Michigan. I haven’t been there in 8 years, and it’s time. I’ll visit my best friend, also go to my uncle’s celebration of life, and see some cousins I haven’t seen in ages.

I went to the cemetery today and saw that a flag had been placed at Ron’s grave. 😒 I cleaned his marker up a bit, took the dead flowers out of the arrangement from our anniversary (5/18), and added a flag to the vase before I took a picture, which shows both flags. I also got rid of the dead flowers on my folks’ grave (the cemetery no longer does the good job they used to on that sort of thing).

I see that I’m back to getting two emails with the blog into it, like I did for many years. About a year or two ago, you had problems with your blog and suddenly I was only getting the one that comes in about 3 a.m., but now the earlier one comes in again, too. We’ll see how long it lasts!

I meant to add, congratulations on the Very successful auction of Ten Ping’s wonderful outfit! I meant to check on that earlier today but totally forgot. I just love that dress.

As to the artichokes, sadly, we only have one plant left, but our across the street neighbor has a number of them planted in her front yard and the plants love it in the sunny location. At this point in the season, and there was a huge crop, the neighbor is letting them start to flower. Love the brilliant blue and so do the bees. πŸ™‚
You’ll have to keep writing to us on the blog while you’re in Michigan. Kind of an armchair vacation for us. That is if you have a free moment.

      1. Charlotte Trayer

I will try to do that, Joy, as I have time. I know I can use my best friend’s computer, as well as my cousin’s, plus I’ll have my Kindle Fire with me.

More smiles for this morning, Jeanne! I will never get tired of these kinds of posts! I’m so sorry about the problems you are having with the blog, but we all get problems with our computers, iPads, and phones, so we understand.

Yes, I remember those jeans and shirt for James, and in the next picture you have a real life β€œJames”! Did you make George’s shirt too?😊

I recognize Laura’s kitty and doll! Her background always gives it away! Then the picture of you kneeling down looking at something. I thought it was you cleaning your sewing room, and could not figure out how you had so many things there that had nothing to do with sewing, before I realized that it was at a resale shop!

Joy’s picture is easy to place too, on her deck, and I miss seeing those! (Ahem, Joy!)
I remember Charlotte’s pictures, since they weren’t from too long ago, and I do recall that scarf she has one of the picture set up on. How pretty that is! And my own Fourth of July picture surprised me when I saw it!

Samantha looks so sweet in her dress, and that reticle is beautiful! The black and white outfit on the RRFF is one of my favorites, and oh my, that black lace from Kathie is gorgeous! Just seeing her picture there makes me feel she is still sharing things with us. And yes, she does have a beautiful smile!

Hi Linda, yes, my doll background always lets you know it my photo. My antique Victorian hall tree is really the best place to take photos as I have a foyer light overhead.
Your scenes are easy to spot as well with you classic trio of 40s girls and all the many little extras you add. Really enjoy seeing them.

  3. What a lovely pile of memories, each picture is really lovely.
I am sorry for your blog troubles, but going back through memories is so so nice! I can not pick a favorite, and I did look carefully through each picture. Sweet and certainly smiling here. A great way to start my day.
Jeanne, time does fly and it is shocking that we are here at the end of May already!
I am so happy your outfit sold on Ebay!
I have been zippity busy here, running, well, driving, to the house every day (4 mile drive)and getting some chores done, sealing the tile with sealers choice gold grout sealant , I moved one sewing machine, and it’s table, today I start on bathroom #2 but no hurry on that, I should first check the result of the first bathroom. AND I am going to attempt to seal the exterior of my screened in porch. I will see how that goes.
I am not a squeeze tube grout specialist.
I hope all of you have a happy day. Hubbs is home, slowly attempting to right himself from a bout of vertigo.

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

Hoping your hubby recovers quickly from his bout with vertigo. I’ve had that a time or two and it is difficult and a little scary.

    2. Laura in Ohio

Hi Rosemary, I’m hoping you hubby feels better soon. Vertigo is no fun. My mom has had that before.

  4. Joy in northern CA

How delightful to see James and George in their plaid shirts. Other person here could step right in to the fashion parade as his closet too boasts a huge array of those plaids. πŸ™‚
Loved Laura’s kitty sandwich pic and I wish I had that I love kitties t-shirt in a size to fit one of my Ruby Reds. πŸ™‚ Charlotte and Linda’s pics, I recognized as well. Lots of fun going on there. Then, as I was scrolling down, I had a flash of recognition. Wait, that picture of some Ruby Reds looks awfully familiar. Took a few seconds to realize that the photo was taken on our deck, definitely before last year though as it is now painted a new color. What a lot of work that project turned into. Thanks for the memories, Jeanne, loved all of the pictures.
Kind of slow moving around here this morning after our great holiday eating binge. The tri/tip was perfect with accompanying salad and scalloped potatoes. Then, we topped it off with my lemon cake. Ate way too much. I’m delighted to tell you that while digging out the bad weeds yesterday and pulling blackberry, way underneath I discovered those elusive Coral Bells. Yay. I had seen a flower or two pop up in the weed mess, but finally, I was able to get close enough to actually see leaves. A survivor for sure. I used to have them circling all of the beds along the brick pathway, but the years and not enough garden time had killed off all but the patch I found yesterday. So happy that some have survived. I need to get moving and see what else I can accomplish because we have some very hot weather arriving. Looks like 90’s later this week, so I won’t be able to do much except water my poor little seeds. I’ll have to pop up the umbrella for them so that the tiny things will survive the heat.

Thank you, Joy. That kitty tee was made back when AG had a Create Your Own clothing maker option on their website. I ended up making three kitty ones as well as a 1980’s.
Love seeing your Ruby Reds having fun on the deck. You really should share them more often including your new arrivals.
Oh, I love Coral Bells. Ours are MIA at the moment. I really hope they survived the winter and are just underneath the hostas where I haven’t been able to locate them. I’ve had no difficulty locating the weeds.

      1. Joy in northern CA

Hear you on the weeds. Ugh And thanks for the info on that cute kitty tee. Guess I’m way too late on that one. πŸ™‚

  5. Although you never said Memorial Day Post, it really started with the red white and blue Holiday theme feeling which is better than saying it. We all know how our brains get sidetracked and enthusiasm takes over. It was a wonderful Holiday post.
So many pictures to jog memories! I usually don’t like camo outfits but I did love the camo birdwatching skort outfit. How else can you get close enough to get those really great nature photos??
    Have a great day all.

I have been rather busy lately with going to the mall for shopping and massages with Dionne and Jaiden on Friday and yesterday I spent the day in my sewing room sewing the dress for my one Natterer doll. The one I had difficulty figuring out how to embellish. It turned out cute in spite of not being able to find the color trim I needed. I’m hoping to make the other dress today. That one will be easier to embellish. But I have been checking in with the blog so I’ve seen all the wonderful pictures. My Little Darlings Amelia Dawn and Greer Adele were super excited to see themselves in the one picture taken in their Easter finery. My RRFF Sarah and Barbara McCall enjoyed seeing themselves in the swimming pool helping their little sisters Stevie and Linda learn to swim.

I totally enjoyed seeing all the pictures and what a variety there was. It was fun remembering who sent some of them. There were a few I had never seen before.

We had a front come through yesterday and the weather is actually tolerable today. It was 81 last time I looked with lower humidity. We’ll take what we can get. Anything that puts off the horrible heat and humidity for a little longer.

    1. Joy in northern CA

I was thinking that was your pool photo. Hope we see the pool again soon. It is such a great achievement to make something like that. Loved seeing the littles learning to swim. πŸ™‚

There’s my sweet Truffle girl again who is waiting in Heaven for me and also my Gilead showing off her kitty love.
So many lovely photos. The dresses on Samantha and Rebecca are beautiful. Those PC?AG girl need the limelight more often.

Dear Jeanne, what happy photos! I instantly recognized Charlotte’s Little Darlings riding on the bear. They are cousins to my Charlotte Noelle, named for our Charlotte.

I got a chuckle when you showed the two photos of James’ shirt and jeans and then the next one of George. I thought, is she having George model the outfit or is she going to make one just like James’ outfit for George. The outfits had the same look.

It’s fun to see Kathie and her children. With the reflection in the mirror, it looks like she is standing right behind them.

Only 5 days left in May! I am holding on to my May joy.

  9. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

It has been interesting seeing your old photos Jeanne. I remember a lot of them so must be after 2019 though I don’t remember Laura’s kitty. I think some of us will have a menagerie waiting for us in heaven.
This time tomorrow I will be heading to the airport. My flight doesn’t go till 10.50 am but I have to be there 3 hours before! So, a busy day today packing everything. Just had a msg from my sister, I will be staying with her the last 6 weeks of my visit but she tells me their house is up for sale! The house is two story but also the garage is underneath the house so lots of steps to get to the front door. They cope but their daughter has severe mobility issues and is finding it increasingly difficult to access the house when she visits. And they are getting older. Jan is 6 years younger than me but knows that 6 years ago I was much more mobile than I am now (although I suspect they think I have more difficulty than I do).
I don’t think I will have time to look at the computer tomorrow morning and I will be travelling for 36 hours, then catching up with everyone so I will be MIA for a few days. Stay safe everyone

    1. Joy in northern CA

Oh, I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow on that very long flight. Hope you have good seatmates. πŸ™‚

    2. Charlotte Trayer

Have a wonderful time, Anne, and safe travels! I’ll be heading to Michigan on June 2nd, very early in the morning. I don’t have nearly as far to travel as you do, but far enough! Prayers for travel mercies.
