The tiniest Easter basket for “Easter Essentials!”

HI everyone,
Thanks for carrying on when I’m busy! Cindy and I have enjoyed every moment we’ve had together…and we gave new meaning to the phrase…”Shop till you drop!” We did some damage at our Goodwill and TJMAXX… but it’s just jeans and tops and jackets, etc…nothing exciting to show…

But, I did find some time today to make the tiniest little Easter Basket I’ve ever seen. I used the end of a glue stick to get my shape for Bailey’s tiny basket. Then I used the same straw for the basket as I had used for her hat. I cut up an olive green silk ribbon and fringed the ends to make it look like grass hanging over the edges. Then I ruched the straw for the handle and added a bow and some flowers to the basket. I think it looks really cute for Bailey. The little Bunny inside is just an eraser I got at Hobby Lobby…

Another thing… the other day my hubby and I were in Kroger and we were trying to think of anything we might have missed on our shopping list. We got near the candy aisle and my hubby asked, “Do you need something sweet for any of your doll dresses you’ve made?” (I totally forgot about the pink and brown colored candy bar I had already gotten.) I said, “Oh yeah… I need something for Bailey’s little dress set.” He had me pull up a picture of it on my phone so he could see the colors of the set. Then he walked right over and spotted this…

…and said, “This will look great with it!” So I bought it… Then I got home and saw the other candy bar…OOPS! The new one did look awfully sweet because it was a better pink… so I decided to use it in my lising. However, if you are a subscriber to my blog and really wanted the other candy if you won the listing, just let me know and I’ll switch the candy for you! *wink* *wink*

Speaking of listings… I managed to get Bailey’s tiny little Easter dress listed on Ebay! YAY!!! You can see it by clicking the right side bar picture or you can click HERE.

I was trying to think of what to call this and when I thought about all the things you usually get for Easter, I thought of “Easter Essentials… the dress, the Easter hat, the new thigh highs, an Easter Basket and of course, new shoes! The panties were an afterthought!

I hope you like the pictures. They aren’t quite as bright as what the fabric and hat really look like… but they just photographed lighter.

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Bailey’s Easter basket is just wonderful, Jeanne, and such a great addition to her Easter outfit. A few years ago I crocheted Easter baskets for all 7 of my Little Darlings, to go with their Easter dresses I’d made them. I can try to find the pictures and send them tomorrow if you want, although you might have used them once before, I don’t remember.

Joy, I trust you apply the pockets to the shorts while the shorts pieces are still flat? That was my first thought, anyway–hoped you weren’t trying to apply the pockets after seams were sewn!

Barbara, in reading about your jumpsuit dilemma, I thought you should look for cotton jersey for the shirt. Jersey is generally fairly thin, and if you can’t find it in yardage, go take a look in the thrift store. There might be some garment (a child’s t-shirt perhaps?) you could cut up for that little shirt.

Back in the day, I used to be able to buy thin cotton jersey which we used for crotch linings in panties, and something of that weight would work. It only comes in white (if you can even find it any more), however.

The pocket problem is because of the thickness. My machine is very temperamental at times. No problem with the last shorts sets, but I figured out that I had sewn the other set pockets a little differently which made the difference. So, I’ll try again today if I get a chance. Busy day ahead. Thanks for your help though.

Well, that explains it! Some machines can definitely be picky about thick layers or “difficult” fabrics!! Sometimes a new needle helps, or maybe one that’s a bit thinner so it sinks thru the layers better. You might have to try different sizes and types to see what handles that fabric best!

Yes, Charlotte, send your Easter photos. i don’t remember if I every saw them, and I doubt if I am the only one!

Jeanne, this set just gets cuter every day! There is not anything I would change to make it cuter or better! The basket is perfect, and I love the way you did the handle and decorated it! Even the candy is a winner, How in the world is Bailey going to let this one go?

  3. super cute basket! I love how you made it.
    Nice candy choice hubby made!
I found a bag of really cute tiny baskets and wooden eggs and a few wooden bunnies, very tiny…. I used them on a cute all white Easter tree, many years ago. I do not know where the tree is… hmmm
I gave the tiny things to my grand girls. They were here three days and EXHAUSTING, they are very energetic and loud!! haha they are sweet girls really.
The listing looks terrific, and so many views!!
I am not usually on Ebay, so I was shocked to find some really icky looking blue baby dolls with tails? huh? I am sure there are worse items but I did not take a very deep dive.
    Thursday already.

Wow, that little basket is so apropos. What a great idea to use a cap to shape it, and I presume glue it together like the hats. It really is cute. I’m sure all of the models at Jeanne’s will want one. Maybe a little picnic basket needs to be made for later in the season? And that bunny eraser is adorable. What a great HL find.
Still on the pockets here for the shorts. In the middle of the night, I finally figured out what I was doing differently from the first too small set. So, I’m trying again later today if I get a chance. I really wanted to have them done by today.
Around here, we’re going to be warming up, finally. A little warmer each day until next week when we may reach the eighties. 🙂

Joy, glad you figured out the pocket problem. That it cam to you in the night reminds me of when I was teaching school. Some of my best ideas came to me in bed at night.

Ha ha, me too Sissy. When I was teaching, I had a pad of paper and pen on the night table by the bed. 🙂

What a precious Easter basket. Love the bunny and the idea for the grass is great. I have a pattern for small crocheted Easter baskets but I haven’t made any as yet.

Dear Barbara, I will let you know when I do the program again. It won’t be taped.

Yes, I cannot imagine missing May. I would feel like I was in a parallel universe or something (laugh). I think my delight in May came from dancing around the Maypole in kindergarten. I remember writing a really “cheesy” poem about Summer and May when I was in high school. I will not be sharing that, however (smile).

Dear Jeanne, the basket is so cute! I guess we can add basket weaving to your list of talents (smile).

How wonderful that George joins in in helping you find just the right touches for the ensembles! He is like your dolly Sous Chef (smile).

I am happy that you and Cindy had fun!

Dear Jeanne, that little basket is just the cutest ever! It is just the right size for Bailey and the bunny. The whole outfit is just perfect, even down to the candy.
Looking forward to seeing what it brings!
So glad you and Cindy had fun.
