Laura has something to share today…

Hi everyone,
I’ll be back in my sewing room soon…

Look what I spotted today… I’ll tell you more about it later.

Laura sent a few pictures so I wanted to share them with you…

Here’s what she said in her email to me…

Hi Jeanne,
Evangeline Claire would like to wish all the Sofa Sisters a very Happy and Blessed Easter!
In her crisp white frock and dressy white boots she’s ready to go to church on Easter morning.
The German Easter egg belonged to my great-aunt born in 1901. She received it for Easter as a very young child.
The bunny with the bluebird on his tail was in one of my Easter baskets.

Blessings,
Laura

Thank you Laura… Evangeline Claire looks wonderful dressed in her white dress for Easter! Thanks for sharing!

Sorry this is so short…
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, I love your pictures, Laura–thanks so much for sharing! Evangeline Claire’s dress is so crisp and lovely!

Jeanne, the croquet set you shared is similar to what we had when I was growing up. Ours didn’t come with a baseball, though!! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Molly is all dressed up and ready for lunch out with Marika and her Annie. After some discussion, we decided on her pleated-front dress which has both butterflies and flowers on it–about as “Easter-y” as she gets, because that girl’s favorite color is RED! The dress is blue, but not real pale, and the butterflies and flowers are red.

I did make her a lavender dress when I first got her, and she wore it once, and then informed me that that was MY favorite color, not hers!! Her sister April Eleanor, however, is a girly girl and loves to wear pastels, so it’s hers now!

    1. Have a lovely lunch today with Marika and Annie. I am sure Molly will accept the dress knowing she is getting out and about with good friends

    2. Thank you so much, Charlotte. I hope that Marika and her Annie and you and Molly have a lovely lunch date together.

Dear Charlotte, it sounds like there is much fun going on in your house. I hope that everyone has a lovely day!

Laura, Evangeline Claire’s pretty sailor dress is perfect for Easter! For some reason, I alsways think of navy and white sailor type dresses the thing to wear for Easter! I want to ask how do you iron that bodice? However you did it, you did a wonderful job! Did you make that dress? It is just beautiful!
I’m glad that you still have a few special things from long ago Easter’s and can share them with us!

Jeanne, that croquet set looks so much like ours that we used to have, and I think they were a staple for outdoor games years ago. And this one even comes with a baseball!🀣. Did you buy it? After Susette showing hers, I think we are all wanting a croquet set for our dolls!

Speaking of Susette, I wanted to add that the dress you wanted to know about in yesterday’s blog, I think you must mean the dress that Ivy was wearing. It is a crocheted drop waist dress, called Sweet Spring and from AG from 2013. It also came with a darling pair of pink sandals.

Charlotte, I love hearing about your girls and their own ideas of what they like! Trust me, if you had a daughter, it would be the same thing! My daughter and I are not very much alike in what we pick out!

I wasn’t able to get back and post yesterday about your great photos and settings. Couldn’t see much. But, I really enjoyed the lovely Easter dresses and tiny bunnies in the scenes. Molly’s table was lovely too. And now, I’ll need to get back and look closer at that crocheted dress. I somehow missed that. Anyway, thanks so much for putting together the great displays for Easter. So fun. πŸ™‚

    2. Thank you so much, Linda! This dress doesn’t require ironing even though it is made out of Kona cotton and I don’t mind ironing. No, I didn’t make it. This was one of only two Etsy purchases. I loved how the collar was made.

Nice to see your pictures, Jeanne and Laura. It looks like your great aunt and you took good care of the Easter egg (and you of the rabbit) after all these years. That is so special.
Evangeline Claire’s dress reminds me of an American Girl dress, but I am not sure if it is the same one.
The girls are off of school for the Pascual Triduum and then they get off 2 weeks for Easter.

    1. Thank you so much, Karen! I think you are thinking of Samantha’s Middy outfit which I also have.

This is called her Ice Cream dress shown in the illustrations from her birthday story. I purchased this off of Etsy some time ago. PC/AG never made this particular dress.

How nice to get two weeks off. Our Easter break was only from Wednesday of Holy Week to the following Wednesday. We always drove to my grandparent’s early today (Maundy Thursday) to be there before evening church.

  4. Thank you so much Evangeline Claire and Laura for the Easter greetings.
We are a blessed bunch of girls indeed.
I love Evangeline Claire’s pointy fancy shoes!! goodness how pretty your dress is. I love the puffy top and the gorgeous ruffled collar, very sweet
How lucky to have such a treasure that is over 100 years old, and looks pristine. The bunny is precious. Is it made of porcelain? That is a treasure.
Laura, this is a very nice scene too. I love the pretty wood behind her too.
Jeanne, this croquet set looks like it has been enjoyed, and the baseball added makes me think there might have been some inventive games as well. I love this set. My parents had a set and I do not know who got that set, but I have a new set I purchases at least 28 years ago. We have used it several times and kept it pretty clean.
I believe I reported to all of you that we are given a settlement date of May 15. So, I am not sure how we will be moving in, since it is only 4 miles down the road, the process will be slow, ongoing, exhausting, fortunately, we can take our merry old time.
Looking at all of your treasures, I want you all to know that I have about 20 boxes here filled with “treasures” Then about 20 more boxes filled with fabric and sewing.
I have given just about every single book away. I am still hanging on to mom’s hand made clothing. I am not sure how all of this will fit into our house. It is not a “tiny house” (Thank you, Dearest Most Loving God) but with our meager treasures and mom and dads treasures, we have a pile of things!!! There are plenty of things that are not treasures that will not make the move.
Ugh, I am not thinking about it anymore. Today I have to clean my house (more) bc my very critical sister is coming tomorrow.
Today is a beautiful day, I hope all of you are enjoying lovely weather too. Soon it will be hot and we will only be able to long and dream about nasty winter winds.

    1. Thank you so much, Rosemary! Evangeline needed those boots when I saw them. Yes, I was amazed how well preserved the Easter egg was when my great-aunt passed it on to me as a young teen.
Yes, the bunny is made of porcelain.
The wood behind her is my antique Victorian hall tree. I use the bench for all of my doll scenes because I love the backdrop. There’s a mirror a few inches above Evangeline’s head.

Depending on what the “treasures” are, I am a big fan of bookcases and glass fronted cabinets. The footprint is the same no matter how high. πŸ™‚
My two antique Victorian Eastlake bookcases with old wavy glass my dad gifted to me for birthdays are crammed with family and personal “treasures” as is the curio that was my grandparents.

Laura, Evangeline Claire, is perfectly dressed for Easter. Adorable. And her portrait is exquisite. The special Easter egg is a marvel along with your own bunny. Loved seeing everything. πŸ™‚
And it looks like Jeanne has uncovered an old croquet set. It’s a nice one. Maybe I can pull out ours, it’s one from the 50’s, and get a pic. Can’t wait to hear the story with Jeanne’s.
My two deliveries the day before yesterday weren’t enough, so I had two more yesterday. Both made it inside to be carefully hidden away.
Today, other person is scheduled for a hearing test at the Costco south of here in the next town. There was a cancellation. The one here had no openings for a couple of months. So hopefully, that will start the process of getting hearing aides. πŸ™‚
So much to do and so little time. Better get crackin as they say.

  6. Susette from Southern California

I was wondering too about the beautiful pressing job on the sailor dress. Well done! What lovely memories the egg and tiny bunny conjure up.

I’m glad the croquet set stirred fond memories. My family always enjoyed it in the summer. Thanks to Linda I was able to snap up the last Sweet Spring complete from an eBay website for a very good price. Thanks, Linda!

Hope you’ll be able to take it easy for a few days after this stressful week, Jeanne. Don’t know how you keep up with all that’s going on.

    Happy Easter to all πŸ£πŸ‡πŸ°πŸ’πŸ©·

Dear Laura and Evangeline Claire, we here in PA are wishing you a lovely Easter as well. We hope that the Easter Bunny delivers a big basket of goodies to your house.

    1. Thank you so much, Dorothy! A very Happy Easter to you as well. Better watch your Charlotte Noelle when the EB comes. She might receive a chocolate bunny bigger than she is and try to eat it in one sitting. πŸ™‚

      1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Laura, were you at our house last Easter (laugh)? Yes, little Miss Charlotte Noelle would easily do that!

  8. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, hmmm, I am trying to guess how you will use the croquet set. I think that you will either adapt to become storage of some kind OR you will use it to make a smaller set for one of your doll children. Hmmm.

  9. Thank you so much for showing my photos , Jeanne. One doll dressed at a time is all I can usually manage.
An old croquet set. How fun! We have one here as well as it is always a great summer game. I can clearly remember playing croquet at my grandparent’s during my summer visits
