It’s Easter Dresses from Linda…

Hi everyone,
I might be able to answer a few questions….

In the first picture I showed, the one with the cake hats) it has a photo stamp of August 64…(my birthday is in August, so I don’t know if I was 9 or 10, but I’ll just say 9.) That means Cindy was 11 and Bob was 7.

In the pictures with the striped dresses, they were a silky jersy fabric, and I don’t know about Cindy, but I LOVED mine and felt so grown up… my mom didn’t make them, but we bought them. Cindy’s was navy and white striped and mine was navy and ted and white…
I think Deb must have been 3? Not exactly sure.

We all got my dad’s hair…

He had very dark hair and Cindy got the darkest, then Bob and Deb and I got dark brown. My mom had red hair so we all took after daddy.

Well, I hope I answered some of the questions you asked.

Now for today…
We have a special treat for you…Linda is sharing her dolls in their Easter dresses.

Jeanne here are my girls dressed from Easter. There is on picture of Molly’s table fixed up for an Easter brunch,
Here are the modern girls, Emmy with her dress that has tiny bunnies on it, and Ivy and Scarlett in American Girl dresses.

Here is Molly’s table.

Cecile and Kirsten are ready for the Easter parade! I kept Kirsten in her dress for the last batch of pictures, since she looked appropriate for Easter, a d Cecile is wearing Samantha’s Traveling Coat and hat over her Flower Picking dress.

Felicity is wearing her
Summer dress, and some lace gloves from Jeanne Marie!

The 40’s girls are ready for the Easter Parade with their pastel dresses, hats and gloves, all from American Girl. Betsy and Sara have dresses made by Etsy seamstresses. The Easter Bunny was very good to everyone!🐰😊

Love to you, Linda

Thank you Linda, they are SO beautiful!!
Blessings, Jeanne

Something got mixed up there! The first picture is not the modern girls but the 40’s girls, and the modern girls seem to be missing from the group! I’m pretty sure I sent the modern girls pictures, since they came up on my “Sent” emails, so I guess somehtng happened when you put them together, Jeanne. No worries! I know you aren’t home and things might be a bit more difficult to put the blog together.
I just want people to know that, and we can deal with it!.

Me again, Jeanne! I must say you certainly do look like your father! What a nice looking young man he was!

Jeanne, we sure do remember those “special” dresses, don’t we? I remember the year I was 9, my parents were taking me to Ann Arbor (U of Mich. hospital) for testing to find out why I wasn’t growing, and a dear lady in our church bought me a beautiful dress to wear, thinking it would help me feel better about having to go thru this sort of thing. It did, and I can still see it in my mind’s eye–it was a satiny fabric (probably a polished cotton or taffeta) with a small leaf print in greens and golds, with an attached “petticoat” in gold with a green sort-of ruffle attached to the underside, to help the skirt pouf out a little bit. I remember feeling very dressed up in that dress, and I think I wore it for my school pictures that year, too, although normally it was special enough for Sunday-only wear!

Yes, your dad was certainly a good-looking man, and with lots of dark hair (curly, maybe?). My dad had lots of wavy hair when he was young!

What a treat, to see pictures from Linda! Yes, I noticed that was the wrong picture for the first one, too; hopefully Jeanne will be able to fix that so we can all see the picture of Emmy, Ivy, and Scarlett later today. Otherwise, everyone looks so festive in their Easter finery. On Thursday my Molly will be going with me to meet Marika (and her Annie, I’m pretty sure) for lunch. Our girls will be in their Easter finery. Molly’s been trying to convince me she needs a new dress but, frankly, I think she might have more clothes than I do!!

Thank you .Charlotte! Yes, I know what you mean by the dolls having more clothes than we do! Same in this house!
I hope you take pictures of yourselves lunch visit with Molly, Arita and Annie!

  4. Good morning everyone. It is sunny and windy here in Northern Virginia.
Linda, these dollies are just adorable. I love these dresses
Molly’s table looks really inviting! I love it. The girls look so sweet. Nice dress choices for each. the last photo with the tiny girls, wow, those tiny dresses are so cute!!
    and the shoes.
I hope everyone has a happy productive day. I am going to focus on straightening up our house today. My sister is coming over on Friday to sign a pile of paper work for daddy’s trust. My house looks really bad. Last time she was here she asked if I was a pack rat.
So, maybe I will just pack up some of my ratty stuff and vacuum.
Have a fun day today Charlotte!
I did report that we got the closing letter from the builder for one month from now.
Inspection the week before…. not excited due to be a bit overwhelmed.
    Enjoy the day!!

Thank you, Rosemary! It looks like Jeanne fixed the pictures so the right ones are showing now.
Those smaller dolls have all, differently shaped feet, so it is a challenge to find shoes that go with their dresses.

Thanks so much Linda and Jeanne for sharing the Easter pics. I’ll get back to comment on them at some point much later today. I have my eye appointment early today so will be out of commission.
I did want to mention that late yesterday, there was a post from Ruby Red that they are stopping all shipping to the U.S. on April 27th. I believe that other companies there are in the same position. That is because our government is telling China, to collect the tariffs. The rest of the world collects their own tariffs not the sending country.
I got caught yesterday with my deliveries, but other person only made a quick comment, do you really need more dolls? And that was it. 🙂 Probably will be my last dolls for some time. So sad about the tariff situation.

  6. Busy morning of errands, but finally here.
How sweet all your girls look, Linda. Everyone has wonderful Easter finery.
Emmy looks so cute and Molly’s table has so many fun decorations. Felicity’s summer gown is one of my absolute favorites in my collection. I believe it was the first clothing purchase I made for mine. Did you make her hat? I know it’s not the one that comes with it, but the replica is fantastic.
Your 40’s girl look lovely in their pretty dresses and hats. I see Sara is already getting a wardrobe of her own with that beautiful dress and new shoes. I love all the sweet Easter baskets and extra little touches. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Laura! Yes, I did make Felicity’s hat, ut not the way Jeanne does! I got the straw hat, and put the flowers and ribbon on it. When I got that dress, I could not find one that had that pretty ribbon sash AND the hat, that I could afford. This was off EBay, since the dress had been retired when I got it. Sometimes you have to pick and choose!

Yes, Sara is getting plenty of clothes now, and finally some shoes of her own! Thank you for the compliments!

What wonderful pictures of Jeanne, Dad, brother and sisters. What a beautiful family! Now we know where Rebecca got her red hair.

Linda’s collection continues to amaze! I’d love to know the name of the dropped waist dress on Molly in the first picture. My favorite style. All the Easter baskets! Where did you find all of those? I know American Girl used to have them. All the food and decorations are perfect for the brunch. My favorite table like my family had in the 40’s, red plastic and chrome. What a lot of dedication and work goes into these scenes! Thanks for sharing them with us. Happy Easter! 🐰🐣🐑🐇💐🐓🩷

Dear Jeanne, your father was a handsome man. He has a kind face. I am betting that he doted on his children.
