HI everyone,
I was trying to clean up my computer files a little bit and you’ll never guess what I found… TWO MORE DRESSES FOR ELLOWYNE!!
I found her Debut dress and another Regency dress… woohoo! So today you’ll be seeing them. This was eleven years ago…
It’s funny, I also ran across the 3 Ellowyne Essential dolls I showed you yesterday, bought in 2013, and then they sat in the boxes until I sold them! I did make just one dress for the green eyed Ellowyne. You’ll see her below in her Debut dress. I think I was afraid to sew for them…
The raspberry colored dress was the very first dress I made for my Ellowyne doll. I think this was so pretty but no one knew I was sewing for the Ellowyne dolls, so this set sold for $49 back in 2013. (I think the $49 covered the time I spent sewing on buttons and snaps!) :o)
If you click the pictures they will enlarge.
When I first discovered the Ellowyne dolls, every single doll had a poem in the box she came in, about something she was dealing with … shopping, fashionista business, being depressed, life, etc… so I decided my plan was going to write a poem with each of my outfits… this was my first poem for her.
As I left home today and started exploring
All of the stores had nothing but ”boring”
Until upon chance I happened to find
This wonderful dress; a most delicate kind
The print was so tiny and perfectly sized
I knew I must have it, and oh, what a prize!
I spotted a hat that went so very well
Its price was just pennies, but I’ll never tell!
The set was so stylish and flattering too
It was worth the trip shopping, I love it, I do!
This next dress was my first Regency dress for Ellowyne, made for my “Wigged Out, Too” doll. I remember this photo shoot and LOVED taking these pictures of her. Apparently, coming up with a poem for each outfit was going to be too hard, so that poem was the only one I wrote.
However, I did find this description when I listed this dress on Ebay, back in 2013. It sold for $70!
This Regency GOWN is made from a lovely cream, blue and green floral cotton print. The floral design is a nice size scale print for Ellowyne and the blue flowers in the print look especially pretty with her blue eyes. The dress has a low cut, gathered neckline with
a bias band which has been hand embroidered with silk ribbon flowers and pearls to pick up the colors in the fabric.
The bodice closes in back with hidden snaps covered by tiny pearls.
Short puffed sleeves with narrow encased elastic finish off this elegant gown.
Very fluid and flowing, this dress has a small train at the back which drags the floor about 3-4 inches. Under the bust, the dress front hangs straight, with the sides and back having a few gathers. Blue bows in silk ribbon have been tied and hang loosely at the side front. I created a SHAWL out of vintage lace and made it just a bit ruffly!
A very pretty HEADBAND, decorated with beads and flowers, is included with this dress set. It fastens with a narrow strip of Velcro.
My daughter made the beautiful pearl NECKLACE to go especially with this dress and a pair of my FINGERLESS GLOVES in a cream lace fastens in back with a sliver of Velcro. You can stick her thumb through one of the holes if you like.
I remember wanting something dainty for her shawl or wrap and decided to put two pieces of vintage lace together with the threads drawn up and slightly gathered. I remember being so proud of myself for coming up with something I really liked. (Ellowyne liked it too!)
Well, to all you Ellowyne lovers out there, I hope this gives you something to enjoy over the weekend!
I will see everyone Monday, which is also the Eclipse, but I’ll have to tell you about it Tuesday, I guess.
See you,
Blessings, Jeanne
Both of your Ellowyne dresses are lovely, Jeanne, and each so different! But each one suits well the doll who wears it.
Did you get to the doctor today? What did he say about your hand. I’m glad you finally got it looked at.
I went to the ENT doctor myself, and she “scoped” my throat, so it’s a little sore tonight. I’ve had a long-term problem with hoarseness, which is getting worse, and the usual treatments (meds for acid reflux and speech therapy) have not worked. I’ve also been having trouble with throat spasms at night–they wake me up sometimes! There was nothing conclusive seen in the laryngoscope. A CT scan will be next.
Oh, Charlotte, I am so sorry for your throat problem. I do hope the CT scan with show something that can be helped! With me, it is my back. I went to the back doc yesterday and the only way to fix it is surgery ,but for now I will try getting a shot, or even later an epidural. Old age is interesting to say the least. God bless and keep you, Sweetie.
Thank you so much Sissy!! I hope they can help you with your back, too. My husband had a lot of back problems, and finally had surgery (laminectomy, as I recall), and the surgeon said he could see Ron’s back relax as soon as the pressure was relieved! God bless you, too, dear Sissy!!
Sure hope they can figure out the throat problem. Does not sound fun at all. Hopefully the CT scan can solve the mystery.
Dear Charlotte, I hope you are better soon. Please take good care.
Jeanne, I especially love the regency gown. The lace and gloves add so much to it. I did email you photos of my MDCC charity auction outfits I made for Ellowyne. I wonder if you saw them? Please keep us posted about your thumb, prayers continue.
Jeanne, it seems like I have seen these last two dresses before. I love that last regency style dress with its delicate lace stole!
I did not get to thank Barbara and Laura for their kind compliments on my pictures of the Missouri Botanical Garden yesterday, since I was too preoccupied with our home opener! Thank you both! And we won!
I guess now the eclipse is foremost on our minds, at least here in the Midwest. So many things going on for that, and let’s hope the skies are clear so we can see it!
Love the Regency dress for Ell. That is a great pattern with the skirt flowing at the back bottom. Not sure what that is called? Do you remember if that was your pattern or if not, the designer? I’m trying to remember, but I think I made one outfit for the Ellowyne here. Was not easy as I recollect. Anyway, the outfit and necklace by Rebecca is lovely.
Glad to hear that everything is okay with Charlotte. Things just happen sometimes.
Was 38 this morning. Very unusual, but not unheard of at this time of year. Yet, next week, we’re going to be in the 80’s I think. I don’t like those fluctuations at all.
I don’t like the fluctuations in temp either. One day we need to put the heat on and the next the A/C. And trying to figure out what to wear – one day it’s short sleeves, the next it’s long sleeves and often a sweatshirt is appropriate. Surprisingly though my body seems to be doing okay. No one here is getting the usual colds that seem to come when the temp changes from day-to-day. I guess you escaped the snow predicted for northern California.
No snow here. It’s very rare. Hope you can view the eclipse.
Oh, I wish you had not stopped sewing for Ellowyne. The outfits you’ve shown are so lovely and your Ellowyne was absolutely gorgeous.
The eclipse is almost going right over us but there doesn’t seem to be much thought of it here in my town. I know some places in Texas are bracing for an onslaught of tourists and maybe I’m missing something here, but I got our local paper yesterday and there was not one mention of it. When the one in 2017 happened we were on vacation in Colorado and there were many on the hillsides with their special glasses. We did not have any and we heard on the news that if you stood under a tree you would see several eclipses through the leaves of the tree. We did that and it was amazing.
Okay, I was wrong. I went back and looked at my paper again and I don’t know how I missed the article because the headline is large. “Solar Eclipse means big money to Texas” was the title and economists are calling it the most profitable 22 minutes in Texas history. We are just to the east of San Antonio and Austin and they are in the area of totality. We are a little west of Houston and the sun will be 94% eclipsed over Houston at its peak. It looks like it’s due to go right over southern Illinois and my daughter in Maine should get to experience it too.
The eclipse will pass over you? we are east, and will see only a partial eclipse.
I always enjoy reading your blog. I hope you have a delightful week-end Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, the dresses are lovely. Any doll would be happy to wear them.
Thank you all for your concern. My throat seems to be feeling better after being “scoped” yesterday. As I recall, it was a little sore after the last time, also.
Today I was in a class all day, taught by Pam Damour, a lady who usually has a booth at our big sewing expo. She taught many many different techniques for making bags, embellishing, etc. Lots of information. My head feels “stuffed”!! LOL
