HI Everyone…
I told Patti everyone would love her pictures of her Ellowyne dolls in their different outfits… and I was right! Weren’t they wonderful? It was funny that almost everyone had a different favorite, but that’s what’s fun about a slideshow. I looked at it several times before I could make up my mind.
Well, everyone convinced Patti that she should join in on the fun and she said she would join in soon.
Susette sent me a picture of her Ellowyne… I don’t know which one she is, but maybe Susette or Patti knows… or one of you out there…
Susette commented …
Here’s my Ellowyne doll. That’s the dress she came in. I received her just before the Academy Awards several years ago.
She’s saying, “Oh, not again! No Academy Award nomination!”
Look at her fainting couch too… it’s wonderful… and definitely Ellowyne’s style.
After seeing Patti’s pictures of her Ellowyne and then Susette’s this morning… I wondered, how many of my readers have an Ellowyne doll? Let us know if you do…
Then I got to thinking about my journey with the Ellowyne dolls. I think they are absolutely gorgeous and I’ve had a few… let me show you my story with her…
For some reason I had the Essential Ellowyne Five and Six dolls… the red head with the green eyes. That’s a different wig than what she came with, because I bought her bald. When I sold both of the dolls, I made them slip sets because they came to me nude.
Then I had the brunette Essential Ellowyne doll with brown eyes…
…and I even had the Essential Ellowyne with the blue eyes… but for some reason, I decided I didn’t think I could sew for them…too classy for me, so I never removed her from the box…
I searched in ALL the pictures I could think of and only found a few outfits for Ellowyne. I sold those three dolls you just saw and went for one I thought I liked better… Ellowyne Wigged Out, Too! I think she was the first Ellowyne doll to have the glass eyes. I thought she was pretty dreamy and I made just 3 outfits for her…
This next dress was a pattern by Magalie Dawson and it was a bit complicated, but I somehow managed to get it finished…
This was my favorite dress I made for her… It was a pattern I came up with… You know me and Regency dresses… :o) My pictures are stamped 2014… that was the year I started my blog… yikes 10 years ago… Poor Ellowyne has stood on my dolly shelf for TEN LONG YEARS waiting to be picked to model the next dress. *sigh*
I DO love how much fun it is to pose Ellowyne…
Well, that’s my history with Ellowyne… It looks like Patti has been having MUCH MORE fun than I ever did.
Well, that’s it for me today… I had a meeting this morning at church, then I came home and Kristoffer spent the afternoon with me, then I had to get some other things done in the afternoon, cooked some Manwich and mac and cheese and that was my day. My sister Deb, and her husband are coming Friday, so I’m busy with Housecleaning 101. :o) I still cannot use a pair of scissors, so I’m trying to be creative on my blog posts… *sigh again*
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, goodie, more eye candy!!
Susette’s Ellowyne definitely looks like she’s having a Drama Queen moment!! That fainting couch is a wonderful prop for her!!
I love the short wig on your brown-eyed Ellowyne, Jeanne!
I’ve never had Ellowyne, but do have a number of Gene Dolls, as well as a few others if that type, here and there.
Jeanne, I think I love the blue-eyed doll the best of the ones you’ve show. My favorite among your outfits is the blue print coatdress; it’s lovely.
Jeanne, I never had a grown up doll, so never really paid attention to them, except for a friend’s Toni doll, which I thought was so pretty! You will have to remember, that when I was getting dolls, Barbie was not yet even invented! When she did come out, my mother put her foot down on my younger sisters getting one, so there never was a grown up doll in our household. However, I did get a Sweet sue bride doll! Go figure!
Well, Susette surely did get a drama queen! An no Emmy nomination? Hard to believe! Is that a jewlery box she is sitting on? Just perfect, and I love those shoes! That will be the day I get into anything like those!!!
I love that short wig you show on your doll, Jeanne! That’s what I always was going for in the hairdo department, but sadly my hair was never that thick to be able to hold it without a whole can of hairspray!!
I too, love that last blue dress, so simple and elegant! I would never be able to sew such tiny clothes with such precision and also make it fit!! So you do have an Ellowyne still there in your sewing room? Who knew? I thought you sold her!
Susette’s, Ell, is so perfect. Love the dress and fainting couch. 🙂
Didn’t realize that Jeanne still had Ellowyne. Cute outfits.
Around here, there is also an Ellowyne. But, I have no idea exactly which one she may be. Guess she needs identification.
I pulled out one of my AG’s yesterday and for the life of me, I can’t figure out exactly which one she may be? She also has the floppy legs/arms so guess she needs to be unstuffed and repaired. Probably not by me though. 🙂
I’m also glad to hear from Linda, that I was not the only one with a mother who would not allow Barbie. But, I was mostly past the doll age by then. Who knew that dolls would reappear so very much later in my life. Ha ha
Fog has rolled in and in a couple of days, rain will reappear. Weeds still waving their ugly heads everywhere they are not supposed to be.
And word from another one of the age whose mother would not allow a Barbie in the house (Actually, I turned into one of those mothers… 30 years later!) In 1958, on my own, I purchased a Little Miss Revlon doll. 10 & ½ inches, but a normal adult form and fantastic wardrobe. Mom and Aunt sewed tiny garments for her, in a modest, 1950’s housewife style. No drama to them, took the fun out of the fashion model!
I enjoyed the photos of the Ellowyne dolls in “Doll Reader” when they came out but couldn’t imagine sewing for them. Hats off to Patti and Jeanne for sewing such beautiful outfits on a tiny scale.
Interestingly, when my daughter unpacked her Barbies, she said “I understand why you didn’t want me to have them! They’re not normal!” and threw them all out! Her girls had the newly designed Barbies. When I was going to sell Little Miss Revlon last fall, my 20 year old granddaughter gave her a home! She had done a report in middle school about dolls, body shape and self image. She had wanted a new doll that came out with body positive shape but Grandma couldn’t handle sewing for a small doll and never gave into her “hinting!”
Jeanne, I love the outfits you made for your Ellowyne dolls when you had them….they are beautiful 😊😊
I love the fainting couch as well…beautiful color!
