HI everyone,
I hope you had a nice weekend. It was pretty around here but when you actually were out in the wind, it was a bit on the cool side. I had to help my hubby put in a new sink for someone, and it was almost all of my Saturday, (plumbing complications, don’t you know!) but the rest of the time, I mostly stayed inside and worked on doll gloves… trying to get my thumb to cooperate, but it wasn’t very much. I just tried to push through the aches, and hoped that phrase, “no pain, no gain”, would work for me! It is better, but still painful, and of all things, especially when I use my scissors. I’m keeping an eye on it and won’t go much longer if it doesn’t “straighten up and fly right!”
Okay, first up we have some wonderful pictures from Linda… and you all know how sweet her dolly setups are… so get a cup of coffee or tea and settle in for some eye candy!
Jeanne, here are some pictures maybe you can use while your thumb recuperates!!
The modern girls, catching the Easter bunny leaving eggs!
Next, the 40’s girls, leaving for church, dressed in their dresses, hats and gloves, except poor Betsy, with NO gloves!
Betsy’s new smocked dress!
Felicity in Easter attire.
Cecile and Kirsten dressed for church.
Here is my hutch decorated for Easter!
Molly’s table set for Easter dinner, with deviled eggs, Mac and cheese, fried chicken and cherry pie too!
Felicity gets the punch bowl this year! She is all set for company!
Cecile and Kirsten have to share a desk! LOL. strawberry shortcakecake for them!
This is my tray on the ottoman in my living room. The little church lights up, but hard to see that here.
See, weren’t those wonderful? If you aren’t ready for Easter, or even Spring, her pictures sure can put you in the mood!!! Thanks so much Linda…
Tomorrow I’ll show you “another” Linda’s dolls decked out for Easter!
Okay now it’s my turn… I wanted SO BADLY to have lots and lots of gloves made for all those Easter dresses, but when I hurt my thumb, I knew that was a fading dream… I can hopefully be ready for next year… boo hoo!
I do have 9 pair made and will show them here… If you see something you’d like, I hope I can get it to you by Easter… I have worked and worked at cutting my time down and the way I make them I just cannot get any faster, so I have to charge $19.00 for each pair… but I will do FREE SHIPPING on them. That’s the best I can do. If they don’t sell on here, I will probably put them on Etsy… that’s the only place I’ve seen some… it seems to be only one seller who is mostly selling the gloves… I wrote something on each set, so you can know which ones you are getting if you decide to buy any.
All of the bigger gloves are for the American Girl dolls hands and fit them wonderfully. The first pair is red and is such fun fabric, sparkly and bright, and easy to slide on.
The next pair is obviously black… not really for Easter, but still fun for your dolls.
This is White pair #1. They look much cuter on than laying flat. Also, I have some arms I bought a long time ago that I used when I made the fingerless gloves. But they are vintage American Girl doll arms and are made from the squishy vinyl and I was struggling to get the gloves on the doll arms made from the white fabrics I used. The white is a dotted mesh, but it was sticking to the softer arms… that’s why the rest of my pictures are on an actual doll.
Here are White gloves #2
White gloves with Pink Bows:
White gloves #3:
White gloves made from a non-dotted mesh fabric…
White gloves #4:
…and after 7 attempts at trying to get a pattern to fit the Ruby Red Fashion Friends, I finally succeeded in getting a pair made for them… (actually after seeing my pictures of them on the dolls hands, I am tweaking them just a bit on the portion between the thumb and the first finger… cutting it out just a little bit.
Well, that’s it for today… dolly dresses and dolly gloves…
I will see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
First of all, thanks for all the kind comments on my twinsie pictures on Friday! We sure have fun doing that each year!
What a treat to see LInda’s girls “all dolled up” for Easter!! I love Betsy’s smocked dress–it was the first thing I noticed!! I just love Felicity’s gown, too–it’s so pretty!! Well, really, all the dolls and settings are just wonderful, but I think those two things were my favorites! Thank you!!
Jeanne I’m so glad you’re able to do a little more sewing, and got some gloves ready to show us. I’m also glad you are keeping an eye on your owie, and plan to have it seen to if it doesn’t improve much (or gets worse).
Hi Charlotte,
Just wanted you to know I added a comment to your comment last Friday about totes. Your tote is very pretty. Totes are fun and so versatile.
Thank you Paula. I did see your comment, and replied. Yes, totes are very versatile!!
Thank you Jeanne, for showing my pictures, and I hope they helped you get started on your “Easter Parade”!
Thank you Charlotte, for the kind words and Betsy is just glowing this moring knowing you “noticed” her new dress! I love smocked dresses for little girls, so I just had to get this one for her, which incidently, was made for a RRFF doll! The seller also included the little flower charm on a ribbon to tie around her neck, so Betsy feels “special” wearing it!
Felicity’s dress from American Girl, is one that I have had for quite a long time, and I bought it off Ebay. However, it did not have that pretty hat that comes with it, so I made one myself, with help from Michael. It works!
Jeanne, your gloves are lovely! I’m sure a lot of dolls will be looking excitedly when they see these! And yes, those fingerless lace gloves that Felicity and Cecile are wearing, were made by none other than our own Jeanne Marie!
I missed commenting on Charlotte’s wonderful pictures with Tonya at the doll convention. What a wonderful friendship over so many years! What a great idea to use the same fabric with your own patterns and wear them at the conventions. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
Linda’s pictures are wonderfully detailed, which is her trademark. All the food, rabbits, dishes, furniture and accessories. Love the white crocheted dress, the smocked dress, all the gloves and myriad of details. We appreciate all of the effort it takes to bring all of this together. Your house is so tastefully decorated for Easter. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful collection.
Samantha is looking forward to sharing a picture of herself with her gloves she won.
Thank you, Susette, for your nice comments. Tonya and I do enjoy shopping for our fabrics at Sewing Expo. Sometimes we find something right away, and other times we really have to Look!! It’s worth it, though!
Thank you Susette! Your kind words mean so much, since I know you do wonderful displays yourself! I am looking forward to seeing your Samantha with her new gloves!
Linda’s girls are all so perfectly attired for Easter. How fun.
The modern girls look like they will have some help hunting for eggs with their sweet pets. And Miss Wellie’s dress is just adorable.
The 40’s girls look like they have had great success filling their baskets and their sweet bunny and chickie friends must have been good helpers as well. Little Miss Betsy looks so proud to be wearing that special dress. Too cute. All the tiny accessories are so wonderful. Love this fun photo.
Felicity’s Easter dress is outstanding. And that hat goes so perfectly. Not sure how Linda and Michael made it, but it is adorable.
Cecile and Kirsten look like they can’t wait to sit down at the table and enjoy some treats. Love their own special place settings. Hope their kitties don’t decide to do any climbing. 🙂
When I first saw Molly’s table, I couldn’t figure out how the pie slices actually sliced from the pie, and they have ice cream too. Pretty special. The food is perfect too. Lucky Molly.
Felicity’s table is so lavishly set. Beautiful. I love the doilies/tablecloth on several settings. All the additions make everything come together so well.
And that tray on the ottoman is a delightful idea. Perfectly decorated with just the right amount of detail but not overboard.
Thanks so much Linda and Jeanne for sharing the great holiday photos. I really appreciate all of the work that Linda, puts into each setting. Thanks so much for doing each and every one. I really look forward to seeing your work.
I’m sure Jeanne’s gloves will be flying off the table. It might be late for Easter, this year, but seeing the red/black numbers I’m sure they will be popping up soon on dollies around the net for lots of other occasions. I would love to see the RRFF gloves when they are cut a bit higher on the thumb. I think they will be big sellers as well as those for the AG girls.
Sun is out and it looks like a clear day. As soon as it dries out, it’s back to those pesky weeds.
Joy, thank you so much for the detailed observations! It certainly was fun to put everything together and I’m glad you enjoyed seeing my decorations and dolls. The pie on Molly’s table is already cut out and was one of Addy’s accessories. It comes with the cutest little pie tin too!
I was hoping Linda would entertain us with her wonderful dolly scenes, outfits and all the other goodies she finds for her girls.
Each girl is dressed so sweetly in their Easter dresses and love the accessories. The detail must have taken a long time but is so worth it! It’s fun to view each and every item. Oh my, the girls even have strawberry shortcake – my favorite dessert!! It’s just wonderful, Linda. I love how you coordinated the soft pastel
“Easter” colors with the hats and the girls’ Easter baskets and decorations. Each scene is fun to study. And of course, so happy to see the pets you always add.
Jeanne- the gloves are great. They are perfect with how you enhanced them.
At least your thumb sounds like it’s healing. I’m sure that’s so frustrating for you.
Paula, thank you! Before I dress any of the dolls, I try to coordinate the colors of the clothes for the scenes. I don’t like to see colors clashing with each other, but prefer a more harmonious look. I know real life isn’t like that, but I figure that these are scenes for my house decorations too, and like them to “go” with other decorations in the rooms they are in. The pets just add to the fun!
I understand your philosophy- makes sense and everything compliments your choices! You have a great talent for that.
Thank you for sharing all of these delightful pictures
The girls looks so beautiful Your meticulous gloves artistry and skill is exceptional.
You are welcome, Rosemary!
There was so much to see in this post I decided to read everyone’s comments to see if I missed anything and as always I did and had to go back and re-view all the wonderful pictures. Definitely not an “oh darn”.
Linda’s pictures as usual are absolutely wonderful. And I can’t believe she gets it all done within the season. Congrats on that Linda. I’m still trying for that. All of the girls have on beautiful dresses, and I definitely noticed Betsy’s lovely, smocked dress. My Betsy always makes sure I see what Linda’s Betsy is wearing. But I told her she cannot always have one like it. She already has so many clothes she can’t wear them all. I made her a lot of clothes and last year a woman was selling all her Betsy/Barbara/Linda collection on eBay and I helped her out a great deal getting many of their “official” outfits in the process. I was glad there was a separate picture of Betsy’s dress so I could see it better. And it’s a RRFF dress? Looks like a perfect fit. Felicity’s Easter outfit is breathtaking. And the hat is just perfect. And I love the dress on Cecile. That’s my favorite style for little girls. As usual all the settings are amazing. So detailed and complete. And what a beautiful hutch and a great thing to decorate for the seasons. So pretty!
Mentioning that I loved the style of dress on Cecile reminded me of one similar I wanted to buy for my daughter, Andrea, once. Usually I got my way but Dad put his foot down and said between my sewing and buying, she had enough dresses until she outgrew some of them. So I told the sad news to Andrea saying she already had many dresses. To this she replied, “Yes, but I don’t have this one”. I think she was four years old at the time.
Gosh Jeanne I’m surprised you’re getting anything done at all with a sore thumb. I love all the gloves. The red and black look perfect for the Christmas/New Year’s holiday season. All the white ones are lovely and embellished so nicely. Hope your thumb continues to heal well but if it is a bone bruise it could take a while, especially to use scissors.
Rain here again today and I have to run errands in Bellville. I’m hoping it slows down this afternoon so I can do that.
Thank you, Barbara! Yes, that is a dress made for the RRFF dolls, and if I ever get one, she will be able to wear it! It is just one of two smocked dresses I have for her. I’d love for Jeanne to make one sometime!
I also make it a priority to get the dolls dressed two weeks before a holiday. I really don’t like all the undressing/putting away clothes, getting them out, etc. which always means disaster in the one doll room where I store their things, so I do it as quickly as I can. I have somewhat a “schedule” of doing the various dolls, each group at a time, and I finish them before I do another group. That way is less confusing ……and messy!
Yes, Cecile looks sweet in Samantha’s Skating Party dress, and with Nellie’s hat and purse. The colors match!
Felicity is wearing Elizabeth’s dress, since I don’t have Elizabeth, it means more clothes for Felicity!
Dear Karen, I’m so sorry about your father-in- law passing. Prayers for you and your family. I lost one of paternal aunts. I only have paternal aunts/uncles. Also the 16 year old son of a family we know at church was killed when he lost control of the truck he was driving. Saddest of all is today is his 17th birthday.
How sweet all your girls look, Linda. So many beautiful outfits and all the adorable bunnies, chicks, and precious pets to round things out. I’m always amazed by your elaborate set-ups each season and in between. I’m lucky if I get one or two dressed with a couple of props and many times not even that happens, but the kitties always have their seasonal toys out.
Love Betsy’s little smocked dress and Kirsten looks sweet as a posy. I like how you combined Samantha’s Skating Party dress with Nellie’s accessories. Felicity looks most elegant in Elizabeth’s dress. All the tasty treats are wonderful as well. I am most ready for strawberry shortcake season. The strawberry plants are arriving in a while as that bed needed a refresh.
Your hutch is lovely for the season. The eggs with cellophane grass in glasses are unique and I love those metal bunnies hanging from the knobs. Thanks for sharing your delightful scenes and decor.
All the gloves turned out very nice, Jeanne. As I said before I was surprised you didn’t already have the pattern. I need to try mine when I have a chance, but for now the two pairs will have to suffice. Yes, two Etsy sellers. I know one definitely is and believe both are on the doll board.
Thank you Laura! I always seem to have more bunnies, chicks and so forth, so spread them all around! Nothing is really expensive or valuable, but each year, I would get my two children a special bunny or chick, usually Brian would get a boy bunny and Jennifer, a girl. I have done that for so many years, and they really have no need for them, so I have all those little animals, but they all remind me of Easter’s long ago, such special memories! I thought I would count how many rabbits alone I have out in part of the house where I decorate, and stopped counting at 30 rabbits! I still have more, but just got tired of putting rabbits all over! My husband says he thinks all we need is some more rabbits! He is just kidding!
I decorate the hutch practically the same every year, and love to use my mother-in-law’s dresser scarf under the bunnies in the nest.
I asked Deb’s Adorables about the Boneka shoes and she said that the factory closed during COVID and she can no longer get 38mm shoes at all. She said she only can get 18″ AG and 14″ Wellie shoes.
Well, that is not good news at all. Thanks for finding out. What are the dollies supposed to do now? Just socks or barefoot? I think not.
