A Little Look at my Lassie Lian…

REMINDER:
How could 3 days have gone by so quickly? Noel’s pink and green Valentine/Easter Dress (Vision of a Valentine) set ends this evening! Noel gave it up without a fight… (I think she thinks she might be getting another one to model… Sorry sweetheart, not this time!)

If you missed it and would like to see it, click on the picture at the right side bar and it will take you to the auction on Ebay… OR you can click HERE.

Well, I was busy today… IN MY SEWING ROOM! You’ll be able to tell in just a minute! I feel like I got lots accomplished, but wish I had more to show you…

Several of you commented on the little summer dress Lian had on when I showed you the shoes I was working on. It was a dress that came with my other Boneka doll, Holly… It looks fairly decent from the front on Lian, but the back is another story…

I found this fun white blouse at the Thrift shop here in town and loved the texture of it… it was snow white with LOTS of surface area to cut things out of, so I decided to make Lian’s dress with a white bodice and sleeves and the skirt would be the green and blue and white print.

I used my favorite Swiss Batiste lace on the hem of the dress…

I had just enough of the right shade of green micro mini buttons and added the to the front of the bodice. It is lined with a thin white cotton fabric.

The back closes with snaps covered by little white buttons. It’s open all the way to the hem for easy dressing.

A few of you suggested a collar and sleeves with a cuff… WELL… I got part of that right, but I had already started on the square necked bodice.

We were having a major problem with static electricity in Lian’s hair tonight… it would NOT cooperate…

I am going to make a new pair of thigh highs, but these were some I had in a drawer…

I worked a little bit on the green shoes, but they aren’t finished yet… this is the thinnest leather I have ever worked with and it was a bit tricky.

All in all, it was a productive day…

I hope this will keep you happy till tomorrow…

Ohhhh…..I LOVE this dress!! I would maybe add a ribbon sash to the waist, but other than that, it. is. perfect.

Tell LIan *I* have a lot of trouble with static electricity in my hair sometimes, too!! A little hair spray on my brush often helps. Of course, that’s human hair, not doll hair. Not sure what to suggest there. Maybe mist a little water in the air nearby to slightly humidify it? Or spray a tiny bit of water on your hand and lightly smooth her hair–not enough to get her hair wet, just add the barest touch of moisture.

What an adorable dress, Jeanne! Yes, I love those puffed sleeves, since it looks more like a dress should look in this weather, with just a hint of spring around the corner! Sleeveless dresses make me shiver in winter!

Like Charlotte mentioned, a pretty green sash would look so sweet and something green for her hair too! I love the delicate material of the bodice, just right! Perfect in every way!

Lian looks very nice in her new dress. It must be really hard to sew on such tiny buttons.

Yesterday my mother turned 69 years old. This summer we should hopefully be able to see them in MN when my brother gets married.

Happy belated birthday! to your mother Karen. And congratulations to your brother on his upcoming nuptials. I know you’re mother will be over the moon at seeing all of you, especially her beautiful and sweet granddaughters.

What a beautiful dress, and the shoes look to be a really good fit. Nice job, Jeanne!

Oh yes, the puffed sleeves do add to the delicate look of that wonderful white fabric. So special. The white also tones down the skirt fabric just enough so it doesn’t jump out and gives it a more refined look. I too would like to see a belt of some kind, but I really like the overall design. 🙂 The shoes with the socks/tights have a nice fit as well. This outfit is so sweet for any spring event. Maybe Lian is picking some flowers to take to her grandmother? On a different note, my mini daffodils are all in bloom in several pots. Guess spring has sprung even though we had frost last night and it is only 31 here in sunny CA right now.

  6. Lian looks very sweet. I absolutely love square necklines so the top with that and sweet puffed sleeves is perfect. The skirt print is a lovely choice.
In the 50s here with bright sun! Wonderful weather for February.

This is the sweetest little dress. I like the white top and the fabric you used for it is amazing. I always love puffed sleeves and square necklines. You found the perfect buttons for the front of the dress and the white eyelet peeking out from the bottom of the dress is perfect. What a great match with the shoes. I’m going to have to try making some leather shoes. A pack of the most wonderful leather fell on my head the other day when I was rearranging some things in my cabinet. I had forgotten about it. Many pretty colors and it’s perfect for doll shoes. I think I bought it from a shop on Etsy that makes doll shoes and also sells the materials to make your own.

Definitely spring here but I’m not quite ready for it just yet. The years we don’t have much of a winter makes summer seem endless and our summers are not fun. Our days are in the low 70s and the nights in the 50s. But it does make for some beautiful and pleasant days so I’ll enjoy them while they’re here before I hibernate for the summer.

Dear Jeanne, Lian looks so cute in her new outfit. I am looking forward to seeing what her accessory will be. I see a basket, maybe.

  9. Oh my goodness that’s sew adorable!! Love everything! I could see adding a green sash, but like it as is as well. Talk about weather: My son (who is getting married in March!) lives in Chicago, and they’ve been warmer than us (living in AZ) for the past couple of days! As he put it: CRAZY!!! The Open started this week, and it’s been quite rainy – not good for attendance.
