Hi everyone,
I was very busy again today working on getting things sorted and pictures taken of things I want to sell. I’m really hoping to get back to commenting on your comments very soon! I don’t like it when my life is this busy. I’m going to get 2 things crossed off my list Thursday, then one more big thing on Friday…
I had a few comments I wanted to answer from yesterday’s post.
Nancy S… you asked if I rolled Felicity’s curls forward or back? I’m not sure I can answer that… they were such short sprigs of hair, I just got them wet and rolled them on the straw… I’m guessing probably back though… as I go through the motions in my mind, I think it would be easier to roll them back than forward. It was nice to have you comment, Nancy! Please join in whenever you can.
Joy… My Amaryllis was just on the coiled wire it came with until right before Rebecca and Karn arrived. I thought to myself, “Surely I can do better than this!” Glad you liked it. Deb made me laugh with her Amaryllis… she said it was the “Giraffe model!”
This one is Cindy’s!
Barbara… I’d love to see the house plans for the house of your dreams too! It sounds so interesting… I used to LOVE to draw house plans… just for fun. I think I still have one that I really liked and thought if we ever built a house, it would be perfect…I need to find it…
Mary Sue… I wanted to thank you for the description of the Gotz doll factory too! It sounded like SO much fun… I would loved to have been on that Brownie field trip years ago. I once saw a documentary on PBS about dolls and the way they shot the hair into the heads was just incredible. I could have watched just that one part alone for hours. The rooted hair shot out and into the vinyl head at an alarming speed… and the person operating that machine had to be super quick and careful.
Okay, now for some fun pictures.
I saw this picture from Susette and just HAD to show it. She said this… Here’s the Christmas Moose volunteering to make an appearance on the blog if you want to use him. He was bought in a moment of temporary insanity about a decade ago. I wonder what Reuben would think of him.
Merry Christmas 🎄 from Susette and the Christmas Moose ❤️🫎🥰
He looks humongous and VERY heavy… Is he? You’re right.. I bet Reuben would bark his head off at him. What a conversation starter for company!!! :o)
Now, how about some Christmas pictures from Linda… these are wonderfully sweet! :o)
Here are Cecile and Kirsten ready for the holidays. This is the first year I was able to get Kirsten’s tray!
Here is Felicity, waiting for guests!
My 40’s girls are waiting for Santa with their new dolls that have matching dresses! Betsy has her teddy bear.
Molly’s table is all ready to go!
Jeanne, here are the rest. The first one is the modern girls doing some decorating.
Here is one of my dollhouses all decked out for Christmas!
Here is a small scene with a skater that moves. I have small scenes like this here and there!
My living room Christmas tree, the smaller of the two I have. This is decorated in gold and crystal ornanments.
And that’s it!
Love to you,
Linda💕🎄
Thank you Linda… SEE EVERYONE… I told you’d love them!
NOW TOMORROW… come back to see Kathie’s girls all dressed up for Christmas. I’ve already taken a sneak peek and they are so cute!
See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne
Some very tall Amaryllis plants there!!
Oh, I used to love to draw house plans, too! In fact, I dreamed one one time, and drew it up, and when I was a senior in HS and took Home Relations, I used that plan for my house–we had this project to do on paper, a house (published plan or your own), and you had to “furnish” it with things cut from magazines, and also “landscape” the grounds, write a story about your family, etc. It was so much fun! I think I still have that project in the basement somewhere, in fact! As I recall, I got an A on it. It was just pure joy to do that “paper”.
Susette, your giant moose is wonderful! I have a friend who I bet would love to have one like it–she collects lots of “moose” stuff!
Linda, thanks for sharing all your wonderful pictures! I have Kirsten, and I have her Saint Lucia outfit, too! I should get her out again one of these days. She’s in her trunk right now. (I had the opportunity to purchase her trunk, bed, table, chairs, etc., from a young gal who came into the doll shop where I worked at the time, for a very good price. I was happy to have them!)
Such fun to have your girls’ dollies dressed like them! And your tree and other decorations are just wonderful.
Today was a GREAT day–I ran into our grandson Eric, his wife, and their baby in Winco tonight! Little Skyler will be 1 next month, and I’m planning on going to the party!
Dear Charlotte, I am so happy that you got to see your baby grandson! I will get to see my little guy on Christmas. He is 19 months and very active.
And I get to spend Christmas Day at Sean’s with three of my grandkids. Skyy is now 13, Jaiden will be 12 on New Year’s Eve and Azure will be 3 on 1/21. Can’t believe he’s three already. I see them often but it’s never enough. So looking forward to it. We also celebrate my birthday that day since it’s the day after Christmas.
This must be the year of the amaryllis, Jeanne! They are such a festive flower and make a big, colorful splash for those of us living where everything has now died back for the season! Aren’t they magical?
Oh, house plans! I LOVE to look at house plans and draw houseplans too! I used to buy magazines mainly for the houseplans they had inside! We had a similar class in high school Home Economics, that Charlotte mentioned and had to design and make little 3-D kitchens, plan furnishings in living rooms, and make sure we had good traffic patterns, etc., and I just loved that class! Math, history, science, all took a back seat to things like this for me! (that must explain the way I am!)
Susette, what a wonderful moose you have! I wonder if Santa will ask him to join his on his midnight ride!
How fun, Charlotte to be able to look forward to Skyler’s first birthday party! Babies are something to enjoy! Thank you for the compliments on my pictures!
Dear Linda, oh my goodness, your girls are adorable! Their outfits are pretty. And they are so well behaved, which I cannot say about some of the dolly children who live in my house (laugh). I am referring here to Charlotte Noelle and her sister Selah who argue about everything. My Charlotte was named for our Charlotte who can attest to the many arguments that they had on the old Little Darlings platform (smile).
I love the little vignettes you have created with the girls.
Your tree is beautiful. It has a timeless quality to it. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Dorothy in PA and the World! Yes, I do think my dolls are pretty well behaved, since they know I used to be a teacher and no funny business with me!☺️
I have fun thinking up scenes for the dolls, since they have so many activities to pick from.
My tree started as an “extra” one and has become the star of my living room, I think!
I forgot to mention I really love your beautiful tree.
I’m glad Charlotte and Linda enjoyed the Christmas 🫎. I have a friend who lives in Northern Michigan who made wonderful moose-related items for the annual Christmas Bazaar. I’ll send along a picture of another one of tabletop size. I saw this moose and had to give him a home in her honor. If he wasn’t such a big boy, I’d loved to have sent him to her.
Linda’s pictures are always perfect and it’s so much fun to find all the little details. Thanks for sharing them. I know it’s a labor of love ❤️!
Dear Susette, I love the Christmas moose. He must be a cousin of Bullwinkle. I loved Rocky and Bullwinkle. It was my favorite childhood TV show.
Oh, my favorite kind of post.
Absolutely love Susette’s moose. Such a fine character. I think he should stay out all year and be dressed for the seasons. )
The amaryllis on the paper towel here has two spikes. I’ve never seen them come with a wire, but mine in the past have always stood proudly without.
Linda has outdone herself this year with the amazing decor at her home.
Cecile and Kirsten make such a fun pair. Love C’s red dress. And Kirsten’s new tray is perfect. Felicity with her dolly waiting for guests is so welcoming. The 40’s girls were a second look as I had to hone in on the great winter picture behind. Love it with the buggy and little home in the snow. 🙂 How fun to have dollies and matching girl dresses. I was aware of the little dolls, but not that they had matching dresses. I saw the dollhouse peeking from the corner and was delighted to see it in full view below. Love the decorating in miniature. 🙂 Molly’s cookie party display is wonderful. All the details like the nutcracker and napkins with trees I think, are too cute. Now, I love the modern girls. So festive and fun for them. The little skaters scene is a delight. What a great way to display them. I need more space around here. ) And last but not least, the gold and crystal tree. Such a beautiful work of art. Thanks Linda for sharing your designers touches and taking the time to dress and display the dolls as well. 🙂
We have sun today. Heading out for a walk soon. )
Well, thank you so much for the wonderful compliments, Joy! I love it when I can share with people that I know appreciate those little things I do, and I have so much fun “ fixing” things up!
Thankyou to all the contributors! Such lovely photos!
You are welcome, Joy Lynne!
Dear Jeanne, I have every confidence that you will complete all of the “to-dos” on you list!
Christmas in 4 days! Yikes, I am still shopping.
Merry Christmas to Susette and her moose. Love the picture. The pictures of Linda’s girls are wonderful as always. So detailed. I love the one where the dolls, both small and large, are wearing matching dresses. And the picture of Betsy and her teddy bear is adorable. Love her dress. I’ve never seen such tall Amarylis.
Jeanne if you want to see the house I mentioned go to Bethlehem PA real estate. The address is 450 High St. I know you’ll love it. Lots of pictures too.
Thank you Barbara! Do you have your Dept. 56 village finished yet? I would love to see it!
Are you the one with a birthday the 26th? That’s our 57th wedding anniversary!
HI Barbara,
I couldn’t resist looking up the house… It’s beautiful and so spacious. Room for anything you’d need… a sewing room in there could be spectacular! Thanks for sharing…
Blessings, Jeanne
Your Christmas moose looks like a fun decor piece, Susette. Such a fun idea to dress him up. He could almost pass for a reindeer.
You really have outdone yourself this year, Linda. All of your dolls in perfect Christmas attire and with all the extra special touches to bring the scene to life. Molly certainly has many delicious cooks to share and a lovely holiday table. I like that your dollhouse always is festooned for the season as well. Your tree looks so elegant, sparkling and regal with the gold lame skirt. Thank you both so much for sharing.
Laura, that”gold lame” tree skirt is actually a gold tablecloth, but shhh! Nobody knows! ( well, now they do!)
Thank you for the compliments!
Oh fun! So many Christmas pictures! Linda you must have spent so many hours getting all your pretty accessories out and displayed😉 The gold and white tree is fantastic! So sparkly, so many pretty ornaments. The dolls look so festive and ready for Santa.
Love the Amaryllis. A friend sent me a Paper White that has jumped out of the ground as soon as I watered it. Can’t wait to see what it will be like.
The Moose is a hoot…we put a Santa hat on our bid ceramic cat but that is it.
I’ll tell you my secret for easy Christmas doll outfits tomorrow🤔🫣
Thank you Kathie! Yes, I do spend many hours decorating, but I have done it so many years, that I have sort of a “ routine” to do it. Everything is stored in containers by room, so I know where things go. Also I take pictures of what I did the previous years, and that speeds things up when I check on those . I do change things a bit each year, but not much anymore,
I am looking forward to seeing your girls tomorrow!
