JOY suggested JAMES get JAMMIES but it was a JOB!

UPDATE:
Something apparently happened overnight and I guess I am the only one who can leave a comment. I have sent a text to Sarah to see if she can spot what’s going on with my blog. Sorry, but I have no idea what happened…

Well, from my title, I guess you know what James received… Yep, Joy asked for jammies and that’s just what he got! Although it wasn’t a 20 minute job as Joy suggested it might be. How about 2 hours?

Let me walk you through what happened…

I didn’t have enough of the red and white striped knit to make a pair of pajama bottoms, but decided it may have been TOO much anyway, so I set out to find something like a solid red fleece, or flannel or knit.

I didn’t have much in the way of the right red color as the top, but I did find a piece of fleece, and tried to make a pair of pants, but it was just too thick for his size, so I scrapped them.

I dug and dug and dug and finally found a piece of red ribbed knit in all my baby bib stuff. I made the pants but the waist was too high, so I picked it out… and tried again… This time the waist was good, but the legs were like bell bottoms…

So I had to pick out the hem on the pants and taper them to a narrower fit.

BINGO…

The waist was finished off with elastic, for easy pull on and off and less bulk too.

James wanted me to tell Joy, Thanks for the idea of pajama pants. He likes them! :o)

I had to go somewhere this morning and James called out to me, “Get something that matches my outfit for the winner! So I did!

James laid down on my table and said he’d guard the candy overnight! :o)

Well, I think that’s it for James… now if I can find time to get it listed tomorrow, I’ll be thrilled!

See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne

I love James’s new jammie pants.

That is exactly what I did for my son for many years, until he was big enough to fit into men’s sizes, in fact–his jammies were a t-shirt and pull-on pants, usually made of 100% cotton interlock knit, although occasionally a jersey stripe. He was 3 when we got him, and his “thermostat” was all fouled up; I remember watching him sleep one night, in flame-retardant polyester pjs, cool room, no covers, and sweating like he’d just run a marathon, and decided I couldn’t do that to him, he HAD to have cotton pjs. So that’s where it started. I probably made 4-5 pairs of pjs for him every year until he was about 12 or 13, and could wear men’s sizes (in all cotton–back then, kids’ pjs only came in polyester, and no one suggested that cotton long underwear would work!). I got him his first pair of men’s size small cotton pajamas, he wore them once, and decided he’d rather sleep in his underwear!! 😂 I guess nothing could hold a candle to those soft cotton jammies he grew up in!

  2. HI everyone,
I was wondering why there were no comments this morning, so I checked my email and Joy said she couldn’t get in. Something about a security code. When I tried to post a comment, I saw a green and yellow icon at the bottom of the box, but when I typed this comment, it went through like usual… Maybe try again?

  3. This was JOY’S comment in her email to me… (since she wasn’t able to get through, I copied and pasted her comment here.)

I told Jeanne that I was very sorry to cause her to work so hard on those jammie bottoms. Searching for a match and fabric weight as well. I have a pattern that I have made so many pairs of shorts etc. for that I thought Jeanne must have have one as well. Wrong. Well, now she has one and James looks great in his new outfit. He can have his other outfit for installing the lights outside or on the tree and this one for hanging his stocking. Maybe he’ll get to camp out under the tree Christmas Eve as many of my friends were allowed to do some years ago. Very sorry for all of the trouble when Jeanne, should have been flitting around trying to get ready for guests.
We have fog this morning and hopefully, some rain tonight as we are behind again and really need some.
Take care and enjoy the season everyone. 🙂

No wonder there weren’t any comments. Only Charlotte from last night.

Well, waited for Camellia’s delivery all day yesterday. We picked up lunch, went to the other house and cut some bushes, played with Coco, came home, had dinner, and still no delivery. Then, while other person was in the kitchen, I thought I heard a truck. I had the tv on pretty loud to cover tracks. Cringing that I would hear a knock, and be discovered in my delinquency, I even went through the house to look out the bedroom window and saw the truck heading uphill in the dark. The security light at the garage was on and other person had a direct view of the truck, but I guess he didn’t see it. Very quiet delivery as it was late and dark. Thankfully, he didn’t knock. That would have set off other person for sure. And then the wait began. Other person was parked on the couch and wasn’t moving. I checked online, and yes, the package had been delivered. So, two hours later, other person finally decided to move from the couch and go into the bedroom. Seizing the opportunity, I scrambled to the front door, knowing that other person would return at any moment. I opened the door and grabbed the gleaming white FedEx wrapped box. Carefully and quietly I closed the door and headed with the box back to the family room. On the way, planning a second devious possibly ruse. Throw the package under the dining room table. put it on a chair and hope it wouldn’t be noticed, or toss it behind a pillow, but, I made it to the family room and parked the pretty hefty box in a good location all before other person passed me coming from the bedroom. A full two hours had gone by since delivery. Crazy here, but a safe delivery without discovery. 🙂 Hope yours is more reasonable.

It seems I can comment now. Hopefully I can remember what I wrote earlier. Cute pjs and worth all the trouble. Well from my end at least. I mentioned that you might use some of those fleece throws for doll clothes. Usually they have themes like Halloween and Christmas but I have seen them in solid colors. I use them to throw over my legs while I watch the telly. I got to thinking that they are thin and might work for dolls pants and jackets. They are fairly inexpensive and there is a lot of fabric for the price.
