Thank you for all your input on Freida’s hat. It was too hard to change the bow or make the bow on the side, as all the top stitching was done as you made each part … Maybe I’ll try it differently next time, now that I “think” I have it the right size…
Thank you to Conni… who said this was her all time favorite thing I’ve ever made! Wow! That made my day…
If you missed Joy’s dolly caper for yesterday, go back and read her comments… I tell you, she gets more dolls smuggled into her house, (mostly unnoticed) than ANYONE I have ever known. :o)
I did it! I did it! I managed to get the set I was making with Freida as my model, listed on Ebay… a bit later than my normal time for listings. I was SO close, I just kept typing and then posted it. It will end Sunday evening at 9:30 Illinois time. If you’d like to see the listing, you can click the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE.
Here are a few pictures that didn’t make the cut! I had WAYYYYY too many pictures for this one. Partially because I took some pictures I thought I could use, but they had that crooked corner on the jacket, or they were missing the buttons, or Freida was in her bare feet, or there was a hair across her face, etc…
These are okay, but I just had too many pictures.
I’m thinking I might need to make a slip for Freida’s new dress. It is just a bit too sheer and a slip would help. Maybe I’ll just make that a BONUS for anyone of my subscribers… YES… if someone here wins the dress set, I’ll make a slip for the dress! :o)
I also thought I’d show you how the hat looks on a few other dolls, including American Girl Samantha!
Violette has the “fluffiest” hair of any doll I’ve ever owned. Sometimes it does get in the way… like when I tried to put this hat on her. It almost needs a chin tie to work…
Rose probably has the next most fluffy hair of my Ruby Red Fashion Friends… but it works on her…
Stella has the straightest hair of all my dolls… she would look great in this set too!
Then I tried it on the American Girl doll, Samantha… Ooops… not even close…
Well, this was a long day… I was changing out my summer things for fall and winter… I LOVE seeing my sweaters in my closet again!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Congrats on getting this wonderful outfit listed, Jeanne!! You must feel pretty good, finally getting that done, as so many things have prevented you from making and listing an outfit for quite a few weeks now.
Thanks, too, for showing us the hat on several dolls. Yup, I think if you are going to make that hat for an American Girl doll, you will have to reduce it somewhat less than you did the 55% (if memory serves) that you used for Frieda.
Joy, congrats on another successful dolly caper!! I always enjoy reading about them.
Thank you Charlotte,
I did have quite a few hurdles getting this one to Ebay, but so glad it’s done now.
I think I’ll try another hat soon just to have it in my mind… thanks!
Blessings, Jeanne
Congrats, Jeanne, for getting this lovely set listed! The pictures are so sharp and clear, and I love seeing the whole set pictured the way you do it! You certainly won’t be seeing this set at your house much longer!
I had to laugh at the way the hat fit Samantha! It’s way too small, but fits the other Ruby Reds perfectly. But now you know the perfect sizing for this hat on the various dolls. It’s hard to believe you still can learn things, with all the things you do already know!
Hi Linda,
Glad you like this set!
I took my pictures on my work table this time and I think the lighting is better.
It’s on the wall opposite where I normally take them..
I hope I always learn new things… it’s so much fun!!
Blessings, Jeanne
Love the outfit pictured on the mannequin or stand. What a fun way to display and a fab photo! Thanks for showing the hat on an AG. You are so right. Too small. And even the girls with puffy hair look great wearing it. I would like to see the hat pattern made in felt or wool with a coat for a winter look some time in the future. π
Looks like we will have to turn on the heat soon. Morning temperature keeps going down. Glad Jeanne, was able to do a closet switch. Around here no room to do that, but I think I remember doing some switching when I was much younger. Now, I just add more fleece on top of whatever. Can’t wait to see what Jeanne, has next in line for the dollies. π
Hi Joy
Rebecca found that little mannequin and I thought it would be fun to use it for the jacket.
I was thinking the hat would look good in some wool felt too… I just might have to try it!
We have used our ceramic heater the last 2 nights… it’s been down in the 40’s at night.
I cleaned out my purses too… put 6 Vera Bradley purses on Facebook Marketplace and one lady is supposed to meet me to get them. I have 5 other ladies on a waiting list too if something falls through.
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Even the unused pictures are great. How wonderful that you got this adorable outfit posted. I’m sure it will be a winner. And now we can look forward to what and who’s next. The hat looks great on everyone, except of course the AG. But this hat sized for them has incredible possibilities. I’ve noticed a lot of people wait until the last minute to bid. When I bid early I just drive up the bid when I have no hope of winning. Great for you, Jeanne, but my dolly girls get very frustrated with me.
I had hopes now that it is cooling off here to get back to doing some walking in the afternoon. Part of my plans for the day. But I forgot that when the weather cools here it often brings rain with it and the loop around the lake at our park is a mile long and most of it far from accessing my car quickly, especially if I’m on the other side of the lake. So I’ve decided walking will have to wait for another day. As for switching wardrobes, well I’m probably about a month and a half from doing that here and often for a couple weeks I’m living out of two closets. Don’t remember what I did when my daughter was still living home because I took over her closet for my off-season clothes once she left. While I was raising children I probably didn’t have as large a wardrobe and all seasons fit in my master bedroom closet which isn’t all that big.
Hi Barbara, I have to comment on your comment about bidding early and driving up the bid. Yes, great for Jeanne, but will decrease your chances. When I was building my PC/AG collections and even now on the rare chance I bid on an auction of a book or something I have always been an “under the wire” last 15 second bidder and with a few rare occasions it has served me well. Even managed a few OOAK doll and non-doll items with that strategy. I actually find the line you see on eBay “bid now so you can get a deal” quite funny.
You have to gauge the final bid by the bid at a minute until ending. and then top it. For Jeanne’s, say the bid was $115.17 , so putting in $130. 73 would seeing me winning it for a bit less. Way out of what I would ever spend on one doll outfit, but you get the idea.
Great advice! Thanks!
Another thing to remember, is seeing who is bidding, and how often they bid. Some people just HAVE to have an item, and you just canβt win. If I see a bidding war going on, I know my chances are nil.
Thank you Barbara,
I received a bid so now you can breathe Barbara… you can wait to see what happens… sometimes the bidding makes no sense… early, late, last second, 2 minutes after it’s listed…
I made lots of progress in the closet department today…
Back to sewing tomorrow…
Blessings, Jeanne
Such a cute fall outfit. I liked seeing it on different RRFFs . I’ll bet the whole outfit would have been adorable on Stella as well. I really like your little wire mannequin, It perfect for showcasing part of a set.
Hi Laura
When I saw how cute the hat was on Stella, I decided she might have to get Fall outfit too.
Blessings, Jeanne
Such an attractive set. All the pieces have to be a draw for a buyer. No worrying about finding matching shoes or other accessories. Your auctions are always so pretty. Each one has a story which has to be fun for bidders to read
D. Good luck with this one.
Dear Jeanne, you have created another winning ensemble! I hope one of the Sofa Sisters is lucky enough to win so she can get the bonus slip.
I love to follow all of Joy’s capers. We have our own “Mission Impossible” happening right here on the sofa (laugh).
Thank you Dorothy,
I hope one of the Sofa Sisters gets it too!
Yes, our very own episodes of Mission Impossible. Who needs Tom Cruise when we have Joy!!!
Blessings, Jeanne
