You asked for them…and Linda delivered…Dolls in Easter dresses!

Who guessed that Linda might send me some pictures of her dolls dressed up in their Easter Finery? Okay… EVERYONE raise their hands! You are in for a special treat today… as these girls are dressed to please!

Take it away Linda! (She’ll be narrating her pictures!) If you click on the pictures, they will enlarge.

40’s Girls at the Easter Parade:
The 40’s girls are all decked out in their dresses, gloves and bonnets! It looks like the Easter Bunny already came!

Bunny Playground:
This is where some of the “household rabbits” hang out! It’s at the bottom of the steps.

Cecile and Kirsten:
Looks like they found their baskets and what the Easter Bunny brought!

Easter Treats!
I repurposed Kirsten’s St. Lucia tray to an Easter one!

Modern Girls:
They also have found some eggs! I think they might have missed a few laying around!😊. Ivy and Scarlett are wearing Love Shack Fancy outfits, while Emmy has on a dress from Etsy and new shoes!

Molly’s Table:
It was hard to get the colors right in this picture! The tablecloth is a soft lavender, and the punch is supposedly pink, but I had a time getting it pink enough without it looking orange, which definitely would not look good! Wish the pink was darker.

Here is MY hutch decorated for Easter:

Mister Rabbit:
Here is Mr. rabbit, at his command post in the kitchen!
Happy Easter to all!

Felicity:
Felicity found her Easter basket early too! I’m sure many will recognize her dress as one of the original ones from American Girl.

Thank you Linda! What a wonderful way to start your Saturday!
A very Happy Easter to everyone!
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, what fun pictures! Lots of details in each one of them.

The 40s girls picture sure takes me back–I remember wearing an “Easter bonnet” (hat) and white gloves to church when I was young. I’m wondering if Betsy isn’t wishing for some pretty white gloves like her big sisters have, though!

I don’t recognize Cecile’s dress, but I don’t remember paying a lot of attention to some of the dolls as I did to others, so I may have just missed it. I do recognize Kirsten’s dress and pinafore, though! Felicity’s dress, too (last picture).

Did you make the little basket that Emmy is carrying? It looks like it was done on plastic canvas (needlepoint). Great idea!

I loved all the bunnies, too, but my favorite is Mr. Rabbit. What an attitude!!

Thanks for sharing, Linda, and for all the work you put into setting everything up and photographing it all.

  2. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you Charlotte! Oh yes, I had fun setting everything up! Cecile’s dress is really Samantha’s dress, but the name escapes me right now. Maybe her Tea Dress? Cecile wears a lot of Samantha’s clothes, since they are from about the same time frame and I don’t have Samantha.

Emmy’s little basket came from when I took my granddaughters to an old historical house, here in St. Louis, which they decorate for children at Easter and Christmas with the Easter Bunny and Santa visiting. There is a craft section set up by the ladies in the historical society there, with all kinds of homemade crafts and gifts. If you can make the picture bigger, the one with Molly’s table also has one of these canvas needlepoint baskets, on the platter with eggs all around it. It is a pink Easter Rabbit.

I do have so many little things I have bought through the years for Easter, that I can’t possible us it all at the same time. I am happy to say I did not get anything new this year! I go completely crazy with tiny little cute things, as I bet we all do!

Thank you so much Jeanne for showing my pictures! A Blessed Easter to everyone!

  3. Linda in St. Louis

Correction, here! That is Samantha’s Spring Party Dress that Cecile is wearing. The pink straw hat that she is wearing is just a hat that I happened to have that went well with it.

Yes, Betsy is wishing for some pretty white gloves too, so she can feel more grown up like her friends! Where to find those?

  4. Linda always sends such lovely photos. I used to dress my dolls and set them up for holidays, but never as beautifully as yours, Linda. I remember being a little girl in the 40’s dressing like that for Easter. My dear great-aunt made my Easter clothes. I will still dress up a bit for our Easter Brunch tomorrow, but the choir robe will hid my attire.
Thank you for the lovely photos, Linda, and Happy Easter to you and every one!

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you Sissy! I remember my mother making matching dresses for my sister and me out of yellow and white organdy. I can’t imagine how much ironing she had to do in those days before perma-press material! Yes, always Easter bonnets and gloves back then! I miss that!
I’m sure your choir voices will sound beautiful, no matter what you are wearing!

      1. It was worth the wait Linda! It’s so much fun to look at all of the scenes. The girls all look sweet in their Easter outfits and all the goodies you found to decorate the scenes with are perfect! That’s a lot of work but so worth it!
I love all the little chicks wandering around the eggs. You found some really neat items just the right size for the girls.
Thank you, Linda, for sending the pictures to Jeanne for us to see. I really enjoyed them.

        1. Linda in St. Louis

Paula, somehow I missed seeing your comments until now! Thank you so much for the sweet words! I’m always on the lookout for things to use with my dolls! You just never know when or where you will find anything, so yu have to keep your eyes open all the time.

Those chicks and ducks are actually from the gift shop I. My grocery store! I’m so glad I got them last year, because the price has doubled this year, and for the same chicks and ducks!

          again, thank you Paula!

  5. Debbie in North Carolina

I am sitting in a hotel room in coastal North Carolina watching the rain come down. Linda your pictures are a welcome pick me up. I love each scene and your Easter decorations throughout your home. If I had to choose the 40’s girls would be my favorite in their pastel dresses with their Easter baskets. As I look at your pictures I am reminded that I own Kirsten’s birthday dress, never worn. Felicity and her tea gown are in my doll closet, never out of the box. You always inspire me to just get my dolls out and dressed! Thanks for brightening our holiday once again.
    Easter blessings to all.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Debbie, so sorry it has to be raining for you today! Just remember April showers bring May flowers! I too, like the 40’s girls, because I AM one! Easter was such a fun time for me back then, not to mention carefree too! I’m glad I cheered you up! Yes, now your dolls are waiting for you to get them out and dress them!😊

  6. Wonderful pictures, Linda, really sets the mood for Easter! I didn’t really decorate much this year because it seemed like Easter arrived so fast! I did dress several of my dolls for my doll club meeting today, our theme is Easter.
Happy Easter to all and thanks for sharing the pictures!

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Terri for the kind words! Yes, Easter kind of kept up on us early! What is really early is when it comes at the end of March! Now that’s early! You should send pictures of you dolls dressed for the doll club meeting! Have fun!

  7. Such sweet scenes! Cecile’s dress is from my favorite timeframe for little girls and she looks so happy to model it. The pink hat matches the pink in the dress as if made for it and was a real find. So nice to remember getting a new Easter bonnet when I was young. Thanks so much for sharing. Happy Easter all!

    1. Linda in .St. Louis

Thank you, Dorothy! Yes, I lucked out on the match of the pink hat and the dress! I too, love that dress, and it is a perfect one for Easter for Cecile. Just who didn’t wear an Easter bonnet when we were little girls? Everybody did, and you would feel undressed without one! Glad I jogged the memories of some of you!

  8. Joy in northern CA

A big thank you to Linda, and Jeanne, for sharing the fabulous Easter photos. Wow! This is just great. I know how much time it takes to achieve perfection with all of the little details, but so worth it for us. 🙂
The 40’s girls with the chicks/bunnies in front looks like it could be direct from a lot of old photo albums. Love Betsy’s dress. Brings back fun memories. 🙂
The washstand is such a delightful place for a display. The layered towels/napkins on the rack are so perfect as are the spring leaves along the bottom of the doily. So nice to accent the fun bunny collection. 🙂
Cecil and Kirsten are so lucky to have found their baskets. Love the ruffled trim on those. And the special treats on the tray are so tempting. 🙂
Love the modern girls and their beautiful dresses. They also have that great trim on their baskets as well as treats and new bunnies. That needlepoint little basket for Emmy is sweet. And those purses are so fun and a perfect match. 🙂
So happy to see Molly’s table decorated to the nines. Beautiful. The punch is a perfect pink and the lavender tablecloth a special treat. Those cupcakes will quickly disappear I’m afraid. So fun. 🙂
Linda’s hutch is a decorators dream. So beautifully done and not overly so. Love it. 🙂
I don’t think I’ve even noticed the detail on Felicity’s dress before. I also don’t remember ever seeing this one. It really is lovely as is her pretty basket and specially set table. Sweet.
Mr. Rabbit at his command post certainly did an excellent job this year. I’m sure he is exhausted. 🙂
Absolutely loved seeing all of the wonderful displays and the girls dressed in their finest. Thank you Linda! 🙂
We’re heading to see the grands tomorrow. Will be a treat as we haven’t seen them since Christmas. 🙂 Happy Easter everyone!

  9. Linda in St. Louis

Well, Joy, what can I say, but thank you so much for all the compliments on every single picture! All the smiley faces too! 😊 I know you appreciate my scenes, since you also do wonderful ones, and know how much it takes to get everything right.

Felicity’s Tea Dress has been retired for quite awhile now, but I got it years ago. It still looks fresh and new. You rarely see much yellow in doll clothes, and it is nice to have one for her.

Enjoy your time with your grandchildren tomorrow, they grow up so fast! Happy Easter to you and yours!😊

  10. Omgosh Linda….how did you have time to set up all these pictures ? One cuter than the other! The pink print ruffle dress in the first pic on the right is my favorite. I don’t know the names of the girls as well as you collectors do but each and every one is fabulous. The white and pink on the cute black girl is really the epitome of Easter too. Your house looks lovely. So many pretty Easter things.
We will get together at my daughters tomorrow. I’m in charge of relishes and dessert. I think it will be Cream puffs. Haven’t made them for awhile and they are a favorite.HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE🐣🐰✝️

    1. Cream puffs sound yummy, Kathie. I’ve made those a few times and they are sooo good.

    2. Linda in St. Louis

Kathie, this really is what I love to do, and so it isn’t hard for me! I used to be an elementary art teacher and have always love decorating and related things.

You must be talking about Ruthie’s dress on the right in the 40’s picture. It is actually Kit’s dress, and of course, I have forgotten the name of it! It has been retired for some time now.

The little black girl is American Girl Cecile. She is really a pretty doll! I have her wear a lot of Samantha’s clothes.

So you are bring cream puffs to your daughter’s house tomorrow! Yum! Could you please give me her address, and I will be there!😊

Happy Easter to you, and thank you for the nice compliments!

      1. I sure wish we could beam ourselves to a place like they did on Star Trek because you would be so welcome at our Easter family gathering. You would be right at home since 2 of them are elementary teachers! And we could beam you some cream puffs…the experimental ones are in the oven made with Gluten Free Flour. Cross your fingers🥹

Wow! Where do I begin. Great job Linda! I’ll start with the 40s girls. The girls all look so beautiful in their pretty dresses and their outfits are so complete. Where did you get Betsy’s sweet little dress? She looks as cute as ever. I was born in 1946 but I’m really more of a 50s girl because I don’t remember much of the 40s. But the 50s were pretty much the same. I watch the old Perry Mason shows and the women always came to court wearing hats and gloves. When I graduated high school in 1965 I wore a suit, hat and gloves to job interviews. So even into the 60s things were still pretty “formal” and I loved it. I tried to emulate some of that while my children were growing up. They always had Easter outfits, both the boys and the girls. But past the time my daughter was a baby she refused to wear a “bonnet” and since it wasn’t required for church and no one else was wearing one, there was no reason to make it an issue.

My sisters and I always had new outfits for Easter. They included hats, gloves, and in PA we had pretty spring coats. Even when my parents were financially challenged we still had Easter outfits. My grandfather worked for Bancroft Mills and if a fabric run had flaws they would throw the fabric out but any of the employees were welcomed to take what they wanted so we always had fabric of some kind available. One year my mother chose a pretty polished cotton with blue and gold flowers and made my sisters and I simple sleeveless dresses with black velvet ties at the waist and little black velvet shoestring bows at the neckline. Almost every time we wore those dresses it would rain. My mother said God was watering the flowers. Problem is we walked to Sunday School so those days one of my parents would have to dress and take us, which is probably why my mother noticed it so much.

Love the Bunny Playground. Too cute! Cecile and Kirsten look so pretty in their Easter attire and the Easter treats table looks so tempting. I’m assuming Emmy is your WW. She looks precious in her sweet dress. I’m not sure which is Ivy and which is Scarlett but the long dress on one of them looks like an outfit from American Girl which also has a matching outfit for girls. And what a pretty table setting. The setting is lovely, and the punch looks light and thirst quenching and the food looks yummy.

What a beautiful hutch you have, and it is decorated so perfectly. And Mr. Rabbit at his command post seems to be doing an admirable job in spite of appearing perfectly relaxed. Felicity in her tea gown and pretty hat looks ready for the Easter tea to begin. I love the sweet little dolls on the shelf. The one looks like a smaller version of a Lissy doll. And now for the piece de resistance. What an absolutely lovely array of Easter baskets you have. I keep hoping to someday add some to my collection. I’ve thought of how to do them by crocheting, etc. But I didn’t think of plastic canvas. Now I have several ideas I just need to get started. Yours are all so beautiful and fully stocked. I have totally enjoyed your pictures, Linda. Thanks so much. And thanks to Jeanne for showing them.

A very Happy and Blessed Easter to all my sofa sisters.

    1. Hi Barbara, did you see my comment back to you yesterday on the Nancy Drew books from the day before?
      Easter blessings to you!

    2. Linda in St. Louis

Hi Barbara! I am 4 years older than you, so I do remember the 40’s pretty much, but the 50’s were pretty much the same with new clothes for Easter. As far as
Betsy’s dress, I don’t have the name on the top of my tongue, but will go back after I finish writing this and find it. It’s an Etsy seller.

Yes, it seems that no matter what a family’s financial condition was, people always seemed to find the money for nice clothes for Easter! That was great that you were able to get fabric for free, and that your mother sewed. Not many mothers sew anymore.

Yes, Emmy is my WW doll, and her big sister is Ivy, standing right next to her. Scarlett is the doll on the right of the picture. She and I y are wearing Outfits from the AG Love Shack Fancy collection. They still have them, all on sale now.

I have collected Easter baskets from all over. A lot of them from Hobby Lobby, so at craft fairs, and some from friends.

Thank you so much, Barbara, for the kind words!

        1. Barbara in SE Texas

Thanks, Linda. I’m going to check it out. My Betsy wants to thank you for finding all these nice things for her so she can pass it on to me. She loves her pink gown that she saw on your Betsy.

  12. Oh I just knew you would be treating us to your lovely Easter scenes, Linda.
Okay, where to start? Your ’40’s girl look so proper in their bonnets and gloves. I love dress gloves and so wish they were still a common thing. I have a few pairs that were my grandmother’s and then some crocheted one I bought to wear myself on Easter and Mother’s Day. Love seeing the little ducklings again. The aqua dress on Susan (#21) is just lovely.
The bunnies clustered on your washstand are so sweet. Cecile looks beautiful in Samantha’s spring party dress. That, and Nellie’s are two of my favorites. I bought those for my daughter when they came out that Valentine’s Day and then was lucky to have them returned to me during her downsizing. 🙂
Kirsten looks fresh as a daisy, and I saw that you were finally able to get her St. Lucia tray from a fellow board member. Congrats on that!
You modern girls look great. I really like Emmy’s sweet little dress.
Molly’s table looks so inviting with the punch, cupcakes, and colorful eggs.
Your lovely hutch and Mr. Rabbit are very sweet.
Mustn’t forget dear Felicity! How pretty she looks all ready to have guest at her springtime table. I enjoyed everyone’s perfect Easter basket as well. Thank you so much for sharing, Linda!
    HAPPY EASTER, everyone!! 🌷⛪🐑🐇🐣🐤

Easter is kind of in the middle this year. My grandfather’s birthday was April 6th and he often had his birthday on Maundy Thurday, Good Friday, or Easter. Of course, it was lovely when it fell on Easter because after Easter dinner we had a birthday decorated coconut cake instead of the usual cocnut cake my grandmother baked with little green coconut nests filled with tiny jelly beans on top of the white coconut.

  13. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Laura! It’s so nice when people notice what I did, and I am glad you enjoyed seeing them! Susan’s dress is actually Emily’s Recital dress, and to me typifies what little girls wore back then. Nothing too grown up looking at all, unlike some little girl dresses today! It is actually a pretty spring green, but I guess it might look aqua sometimes.

Yes, I was able to get Kirsten’s St. Lucia’s tray, and I hated to put it away until Christmas, so fixed it up as an Easter tray so I could enjoy it.

I love the Spring Party dress too, and this was the perfect time for Cecile to wear it.

How nice that you were able to celebrate your grandfather’s birthday on Easter sometime! Your mention of a cake with coconut reminds me of the lamb cake I usually make, decorated with coconut, and I dyed some green to resemble grass to have it sit upon, and then put jelly beans around it to resemble eggs. I have no time for making that this year, and it won’t feel the same. Maybe next year will work!

    Thank you again, Laura!
