My sewing room is still not straightened up the way I want it to be, but that didn’t keep me from sewing today! I wanted to get back to it! One guess as to who is modeling this dress… Yes, it’s Lea… She begged me and I caved… although she might not be the one who wears it when I list it… she has the skin coloring like Marisol, whom I had and was SO HARD to photograph. I’m not sure why, but the pictures of her look like I have “sharpened” all my pictures… she looks very unnatural… so we’ll see.
Anyway, I’ll show you the dress… but the fabric on this one was giving me fits too… not when I was sewing it, but when I was trying to take pictures of it. It is one of my favorite fabrics and this is the last of what I have. In person, it’s a very minty green (oh great, here we go again… remember Isabelle’s minty/aqua dress?) fabric, and it’s turning aqua in my pictures. I messed around with trying to get the color right, but it wasn’t working, so I’m just showing you the dress for now… and the dress isn’t finished either… but “almost!”
I used a Keepers Dolly Dud’s pattern for this one… I believe I’ve only used this pattern one other time… “Springtime in the South” for Rebecca…
A pretty pink Cluny lace trim was used on the inserts and around the scalloped skirt.
The pink buttons match the Cluny lace perfectly!
Here is a close up but still not the right color…
I added a narrow tie in the back, but the snaps aren’t sewn on yet…
I DID get an LED light for my sewing machine and it’s much better, but still hasn’t got the color right in this picture…
The LED light bulb came from Hobby Lobby…
Here it is showing that violet fabric with use the machine LED light… It REALLY makes a big difference to me!
Here it is with the new adhesive LED machine lights turned on… It’s hard to show you how much light this puts off…
I LOVE IT!
Well, that’s what happened at my house today! Hope you had something just as fun going on at yours! :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, what a cute dress!! At first I thought that was rickrack trimming it, but then I got a closer view of the close-up picture, and no, it’s not rickrack. Anyway, this one looks so summery and pretty, I’m sure it’s going to be a favorite for some dolly out there!!
Oh, yes, the LED bulbs sure do make a difference! I’m glad you found a bulb to replace the standard one in your machine, too.
Linda mentioned how the photos didn’t enlarge in yesterday’s blog, and they didn’t enlarge for me, either–last night. However, I tried again and tonight they Did enlarge somewhat! Not sure what was going on there–gremlins at work, I suppose?
The Trayer photography studio has been busy this afternoon and evening, and I now have photos of several things–that RRFF prize I won, the new Leeann family dolls I got a month or two ago, etc. I will try to get them loaded into the computer tomorrow so I can send a few to Jeanne in the near future, in case she needs a day off from posting…
Looking forward to your pictures. I did manage to get one picture of Jaiden in her dress Sunday but it’s on Dionne’s phone. I need to remind her to send it to me.
What a pretty little dress for Leas, Jeanne! It looks very minty green for me on my Apple iPad! However on my desktop (Lenovo), it could also be aqua. But really, it is a very pretty color, no matter what system you are on. I too, thought ithe lace was rickrack!
My iPad does enlarge pictures very well, but then again, the desktop doesn’t do that very well. But what a lovely springtime dress!
I’m looking forward to your pictures, Charlotte! It’s fun when we share!
Whoops! I pushed “post comment” accidentally, before I got to St. Louis, but I think you all would know where I’m from!
Love the dress and the fabric. Beautiful color whatever it may be. And Lea looks wonderful wearing it. She has great hair too. At first look, I also thought the trim was rick rack. Had me wondering how you could possibly attach it with just a tip. I’ve never seen any Cluny like that. Is that vintage or can it be purchased somewhere?
This is one special dress. 🙂
I’m curious how that trim is sewn on..could you take a picture from the underside? That is a lovely fabric and I’m sure you hate to see it used up but that is a super cute dress. No matter what color it looks like it goes so well with the pink roses. The pink buttons could not be a better match😉.Now of course we will all be anxious to see what all accessories you make for it.🤔
Glad you’re back in the sewing room, and you have been busy! Everything about this dress is lovely. I also at first glance thought it was ric rac so the cluny detail is interesting. Like Kathie I’m curious about how the lace is sewn on, please show us. Hope you use this pattern again,
And Charlotte will be watching for your pictures.
Thanks for the proper spelling if ric rac. It didn’t look right but nothing told me it was wrong so I went with it.
What a pretty dress, Jeanne! So sweet and summery. I like the design and your choice of materiel and trim. It’s nice to see an American Girl be your model this time. I don’t think you’ve used Lea before?
Not that I don’t like the beautiful outfits for the RRFF girls, as I may be getting another girl later on?? 😊
What a darling dress. I love that pattern, well all KDD patterns are lovely. That Cluny lace is very pretty. I thought at first it was a crocheted trim. I’ve never seen Cluny like that either.
The fabric is lovely, like a rose garden. Can’t wait to see the accessories since your sewing one of my favorite eras. 🙂
You’re sewing. humph autocorrect
Joining the “I thought it was rick rack” crowd. But knowing you knew the difference between Cluny and rick rack I just had to enlarge a picture and see it close up. I’ve never seen anything like it before. I love it! I have this pattern for my RRFFs and I think my WWs. I haven’t made it up yet but it is a lovely pattern. The fabric is beautiful whatever color it is (minty aqua for me) and the pink trim and buttons are perfect. Can’t wait to see the accessories.
I’m of the rick rack group. 🙂 I believe that Wrights, who sells it, spells it Rick Rack. Hope Jeanne can clue us in on where to find Cluny rr. 🙂
Lea looks lovely, and so does the minty green fabric — no problems with color of either here.
I have read that led light is too bright, too flat, and distorts color, but in the right place, it’s a real blessing.
Marilyn you can get LEDs like you can regular lightbulbs in different colors, etc. I prefer the white daylight for reading but you can get more subdued lighting. The only LED color I have a problem with is what they call LED blue. Some of the lights on my tree are that and it is bright.
