The wedding dress is finished…

I have NEVER been so happy for an alterations job to come to a close…
I finished this wedding dress a little after midnight, then I was cropping my pictures and jumped on my computer to write my post… the storms that went through a little while ago are still affecting my satellite and it won’t work… it is now 15 minutes after 1:00 and I’m not going to stay up any longer… I’m very sorry, but I have to get to bed…

I’ll show you the dress… but I’m going to wait till Monday, I guess… to show you what it looks like all done and with the ivory ribbon I found at Joann’s!

These two pictures were taken at the fitting Friday morning…

It took a while to lace it up, and as I got near the bottom of all the loops. I wasn’t concerned about my ribbon not laying flat… I just wanted to lace it to the bottom to see how to fix the opening below…and then determine how much ribbon I actually needed. It actually only took about 2 1/2 to 3 yards… that’s why I was able to get it at Joann’s.. they had a roll with 7 yards on it..

After her fitting, I just got home and her mom texted me that she loved it…yay!!!

Okay… one sneak peek picture…

Night…
Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, you never have to apologize to us for having to get to bed, especially at 1:30 in the morning!! I can’t fathom doing anything even in the early evening, because I am getting up roughly 1 1/2 hours after 1:30 a.m.!! We also had quite a bit of wind and rain, but thankfully, that was it for us, no tornado.

That dress is just beautiful, and so different! You did a wonderful job, and really made it a very special bride dress that no one could ever duplicate! No wonder the bride was so happy with it!

I didn’t get to comment yesterday, but did enjoy seeing all those gorgeous dresses! I especially liked the first picture you showed. You have really created some lovely outfits, and I’m not fooling!! Yes, it’s April Fool’s Day!

Can’t believe tomorrow is Palm Sunday already!

I can see why the bride liked that gown so well–it’s lovely!! Can’t wait to see it with the “real” ribbon all down the back!

Hope you’re able to sleep in a little, to make up for your late night!!

Big welcome to Marda, who I saw (yesterday) is fairly new to the blog. I did comment on her yesterday’s post tonight (I always check yesterday’s blog before shutting off the computer, as I don’t normally turn it on until 9 p.m.!)

I can sure see why the bride to be liked that dress. Reminds me of the 70’s when our dresses were all empire style sort of. The fabric is very special as well. Jeanne worked wonders with the fabric width available.. Great work!
Had to check out the latest at RRToys. Dorothy 2 is awfully cute. Love that red hair. 🙂
    Have a nice weekend everyone.

  4. Jeanne, I hope you’re not to tired to enjoy Christmas!! Have a great time with family.
The bride’s gown is very unique and beautiful. I’m sure she’s thrilled that you solved how it laces up the back.
I enjoyed seeing all the outfits you posted yesterday – it’s always a treat to see them.

So, now you get to have fun with your family. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!! 🎄

What a lovely, interesting gown. I’m so glad you could make it work for her. I know she’s pretty pleased with your efforts too. I love the fabric and the style is so feminine. I’ve never been fond of strapless wedding gowns and they seem to be all the rage these days, so it’s nice to see something more traditional.

I remember burning the midnight oil many Easter eves finishing up Easter wearing attire, so I definitely sympathize with your need to get to bed. Not even sure I could do that these days. No need to apologize.

Have a great Christmas with your family. Can’t wait to hear all about it.

  6. It was a “fun” night here. The tornado sirens started blaring at quarter till 2 and went nearly solidly off and on until quarter after. Heavy rain and high winds here and rotation was seen in a nearby town. Lots of big branches down to clean up this weekend. On a happier note, yesterday was one of my kitties’ birthdays. Special turkey cat food was enjoyed by all.
The wedding dress is lovely and quite unique.
The dresses yesterday were all very pretty.

So sorry for the tornado and damage. Glad you and family are safe. And a belated happy day to the turkey loving kitty. 🙂
      Stay safe.

Tornadoes for some of us — but we had wind and fire in the town adjoining the one in which my sister lives. She and her husband were under pre-evac orders but before midnight that was lifted. I just looked it up — it looks like the fire was just outside of town, not, thank heavens, in the town, but pictures look like houses are going to need a lot of airing out and the first concerts at Red Rocks have been cancelled.

The dress is lovely and I see why the bride wanted it. The ivory ribbon makes a huge difference and a trip to the cleaners will finish the job. Now all she needs are the right undergarments, and they can make a big difference in the fit. I hope you really are done. I agree with Barbara that more traditional styles make prettier wedding dresses, and medieval is certainly traditional.

The mother-in-law of the bride and I altered a wedding dress once. I thought we’d die before we were done, but the bride was lovely and tried the dress on over and over with no complaints. She couldn’t sew but cheerfully and calmly pitched in in every way she could. It was a difficult experience but a rewarding one. We’ll always think well of her.

Hard to believe that there are fires already to deal with. With all of the rain we’ve had, they have not been on my mind. However, the foliage has increased for sure which will again become dangerous as the heat intensifies. So many weeds around here.
      Glad your sis is okay.
      Take care.
