Happy Saturday everyone,
Just a quick REMINDER:
Lea will be learning the ropes around here tonight… she’ll have to take off the dress she’s modeled all week and send it to some new girl to wear. It might be sad this first time, but she’ll get used to it…it’s what happens here at my house!
If you missed the listing, you can see it by clicking the picture at the right side bar or click HERE.
I took a few outside pictures of Freida when I got home from the Food Pantry, but will just share one teaser picture with you, and hope you’ll come back Monday for hopefully, the rest of the set…
A while back Ruby Red Fashion Friends had a contest to see who could make the most words using a phrase… Charlotte won with her 50 words and wanted to share what her prizes were…
From Charlotte:
As promised, here are pictures of the prize I won when Ruby Red Fashion Friends had a contest on their Facebook page. As I recall, you were to make words from the phrase “Celebrate Easter with Tulip and Willow” (something like that, anyway), and make as many as you could. Whoever had the most that did not duplicate anyone else’s words would win the prize. As it turned out, there were three winners (I don’t remember if they said there would be three, or if that was decided later). Since I really enjoy word puzzles, this was just a fun game for me. I came up with close to 50 words, I think, and could have done more, but I Really needed to get to bed!!
The first picture shows the prize, still in the box. The hat and purse are both straw, but the hat is a bit more to the peach and the purse is definitely pink. Therefore we had to see which girl would model which item, depending on her Easter dress! (I made their dresses from fabrics left from things I made for our granddaughter when she was young.) So Freida got to carry the purse, because is was the perfect pink to go with her dress, and Bella chose the hat, which works well with her “sprinkles” print–some of the sprinkles are about that shade of peach, actually!!
Then, a couple of weeks ago I was at SnapDoodle Toys (https://snapdoodletoys.com/pages/snapdoodle-toys-redmond ) and found this absolutely darling little boxed set from Running Press. I thought the Sofa Sisters might enjoy seeing what I got. (Barnes & Noble used to sell lots of different little boxed things–you know, zen garden, and Bob Ross mini painting set, and all kinds of things, but I haven’t seen much there of late, at least not the one I usually go to.)
The Monster at the End of the Book was one of my very favorites of all the many books I read to Daniel when he was little (plus Grover is my favorite Sesame Street character), so when I saw this, I simply Had to have it!! The miniature book has the entire story in it, and there is a Grover backpack clip included. Of course, when you take the clip off (as I will do), he makes a perfect toy for one of your “younger” dolls!!
The first picture shows the box (which says, on the lid, “PLEASE do not open the box”). The second picture shows the book and Grover with the box, and in the third picture, I am holding the book open, so you can see my fingers for scale. I still need to take a picture of one of my dolls holding him and the book. I’ll get there eventually!
Is this not just the cutest thing ever?!!
HI Charlotte, I have just started seeing these tiny little toys… Rebecca pointed them out to me… and I have picked up a few…
So fun to have for props for the dolls…
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
I see Lea’s outfit has three bids now. Maybe this will be one of those that ends up with a bidding war down to the last minute!!
Freida’s outfit is so pretty. I have a Freida, too (although still in her original wig, which I love), and I’m sure she’s looking with longing at that picture you posted!! LOL
Thanks for sharing my pictures tonight, Jeanne. I’ll try to check thru the day and answer any questions anyone might have.
Charlotte, you certainly have the “gift” of solving word puzzles! I never take the time to do puzzles, but admire people who do!
What a nice surprise the cute hat and purse set are! Yes, they are two different colors, but all the better, since two different dolls can share them! And to see that you made those two darling dresses from scraps from long ago! I also have a “scrap box” full of pieces of material that I made from clothes for my daughter when she was small. Just opening it up brings back memories!
The Monster book is one of my grandson”s favorites! Just to see those tiny little Sesame Street characters makes them doubly cute! I had no idea they made those that small, which makes them the perfect size for the dolls!
Thank you for showing these and the darling outfits, plus your prize! I’m looking forward to seeing what Jeanne has up her sleeve for the rest of Freida’s outfit!!
Thank you, LInda. I do love all kinds of pencil puzzles (except crosswords!), and almost always have a puzzle book (or two!) “going”. I really was surprised to have won, though. I just played the game for fun!
Isn’t Grover just the cutest? I was thrilled to find him.
Charlotte, congrats on your win! Words are fun to play with, and so are prizes! Your dolls look happy you won, too!
I adore your boxed book and the story. My older son LOVES Grover so I looked for one for him, but couldn’t find one. I see they came out in 2017 so pretty hard to find, you were lucky! Thanks for sharing.
hugs,
Sissy
Hi Sissy, and thanks. I think they still had one or two left in the Kenmore location of SnapDoodle Toys where I got mine. You might search for their phone number (the web site I gave above was for the Redmond location, but if you go there, there might be a link to the Kenmore one) and give them a call. They would probably ship one to you! Or I can give you the info on the box and you can see if you can find it somewhere closer to you.
Thank you, Charlotte, I will try.
hugs!!
Congrats to Charlotte on her great win! Wonderful prize and fun dresses you made for your girls. 🙂
Sesame Street, was so fun when our girls were little. Haven’t seen the mini versions, but I’m sure the dollies will love them.
About wilted yesterday as it was hotter than expected. Glad it is supposed to cool off so I can get back to those ever growing higher weeds. Doesn’t help with the allergies around here either.
Have a nice weekend everyone. 🙂
Thank you, Joy. I was so pleased I had enough fabrics left from things I made for Lily to make dresses for all 5 of my RRFFs. I wish I could get more of those Tutti Frutti prints, but JoAnn’s no longer carries them. 😞 The first couple I got were from Hancock Fabrics, but of course they have been gone for several years now.
It looks like we are Finally going to warm up out here in the Seattle area–we’ve been joking about it being the 107th of January!! But today I noticed it was 58 by my car’s thermometer. Woohoo!! Two days ago, we had the lowest “high” temperature Ever for that date–47!!
Fun post! Congratulations on winning, Charlotte! I enjoy those kind of word games, too. Your prizes go well with the dresses you made. That Grover book looks interesting and now I want to read it and know how it ends =D
Thanks so much, Karen.
I know that book is still available as a LIttle Golden Book (just bought one recently for my great-grandson, when he’s old enough, in fact). You must read that story–it’s so charming!! Grover is so scared!!!…(Hide and Seek with Grover is equally charming, by the way.)
Congratulations Charlotte! Freida and Bella both look so pretty in their dress with their new purse or hat. Surprising that the items didn’t match since they were sold as a set, but just as well otherwise one of your girls would have wanted both to wear. 🙂 How special to have the dresses made from the same fabric your granddaughter wore. Grover will make a cute prop for one of your dolls.
Thank you, Laura.
Yes, I was surprised they didn’t make them matching, but perhaps that was the idea–they could go with two different outfits on different dolls. My girls are happy, I can tell you!!
Congratulations on your win, Charlotte. I also have this sweet little accessory package. I got it long before Easter and was wondering which lucky young lady or ladies would get to wear which item. The picture on the website showed it along with a long skirt and I thought I might make one similar. But then while I was dressing the girls I realized that Stella had the perfect dress I had already made for her. It was long and had all the right colors so she got to wear all the pieces. I will take a random picture sometime and send it to Jeanne for possible publication. I also want to send one of my two Siblies in their Easter outfits. I did not make their dresses but got them from a company on Etsy called BeachGirlDollClothes. She makes clothes for RRFF, Siblies, WW and Paola Reina dolls. The price is right and the clothes are adorable. My Siblies, Sydney and Bailey look cuter than cute in their Easter dresses.
I love word puzzles but didn’t know about the contest. I do Lumosity puzzles and one of them is seeing how many words you can make from the few letters they give you before it times out. It’s a lot of fun but it’s amazing what words you can miss when you are being timed. The more letters you use for words the higher your points.
Can’t believe some of my Sofia Sisters are still experiencing below freezing temps. But I could say thanks because I think that’s the reason we are actually having a spring this year. So far we’ve had a few days in the 80s but most days are in the 70s and we’ve still had some in the 60s and our humidity has been quite low. That in itself is a relief.
I can’t seem to find BeachGirlDollClothes on Etsy. Do you have a link? TKS, Joy
Joy, type in clothes for Siblies and it should come up. I can’t seem to do the link thing. I always have trouble doing a search for a particular Etsy shop.
Thank you, Barbara. Can’t wait to see Stella in her accessories, too! Also your Siblies in their Easter outfits. Sharing pictures is a lot of fun.
Well, that contest showed up on Facebook a while back. Since I love word puzzles, I couldn’t resist!! The nice thing was, there was no time limit, so I left that window open and would go back to it during the evening, as I thought of other words.
In the greater Seattle area, some places (such as Olympia, to the south) have still been experiencing freezing temps at night. But we got up to 58 today (according to my car thermometer), so hopefully those ultra-cold nights are behind us. The entire month of April has, thus far, been below normal temperature-wise. I feel like I’ve worn my entire winter wardrobe in the past week, and I’m getting Tired of it!!
