Sweet Purple Mary Jane shoes for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls…

The wind must be knocking out my satellite connection, because I can’t get anything to work on my computer. We are having VERY strong winds… so I’m writing this on my phone.

My day was filled with “catch up” duties, so I only had time to get my purple doll shoes finished…

As hard as I try I’m still super critical of them. This was my second try at them after I revised my pattern slightly… I can get my pattern pieces cut out so they are both exactly the same size… I have the saddle stitching down…but I’m still having trouble stacking my soles and getting them cut perfectly perpendicular on the sides and then buffing them.

I watched 2 new videos I hadn’t seen before and picked up a few tips, so I will keep trying… but I’d like to get to the point where I find myself not making ANY excuses for the way they look…

That being said, my hubby said he thought they looked great…

When you see such huge close ups of them, you see every fuzzball and piece of lint, but in reality, when they are on my dolls feet, I’m actually pretty proud of myself… :o)

Ok…let’s move on before I start sounding sappy!

Here are some pictures of just the shoes…

I pulled some fabrics from my shelf and thought I’d show you a few directions I could go…

Some of the pictures look slightly faded …. they are all bright and go perfectly with the shoes, which are as purple as purple can be!

Well that’s it for today…
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, those shoes are just wonderful, Jeanne!! SO pretty!! I wouldn’t mind a pair myself–and I would have loved them when I was a little girl!!

As to the fabrics, my favorite Fabric is the purple/purple one, the second one shown with the shoes.

HOWEVER….I like the shoes the best with the first fabric you show, although the little flower trim works well with the third fabric, too.

    Decisions, decisions!!

  2. Like most of us creators, we are more critical of our own work than other people being critical of our work. I like the white fabric with the tiny purple flowers to go with the shoes the best. I think the shoes make the fabric pop.

Oh, we are supposed to be telling you what fabric we like best for the shoes? Well, I do think the first piece looks really good with the shoes, which are darling, by the way! I also think that maybe you could even do two of those fabrics in one outfit, mixing them together somehow, dress, vest, skirt, blouse, jacket, whatever floats your boat!

  4. These shoes are so perfect! Seriously. Can be sandal style, or dress up, love ‘em. With the white flowers I like the first fabric with the white background. Now if the flowers were the same purple as the shoes, the last fabric would be so cool. Can’t wait to see whichever

Alina, it’s been so long since we heard from you. How are you? Let us know, Sending thoughts and love.

    Have a great day all.

  5. Jeanne, you are so talented, the doll shoes are so cute with the tiny flowers detail. They look very well made.
I think the first piece of fabric combines very well with the little shoes.
    Have a wonderful day,

George is right. The shoes are cute. 🙂 Everyone has their own opinion about fabric for sure. My take, is the white background fabric is too busy and none of the purples in it match the shoes. The second real purplie fabric is lovely. The third with the turquoise flowers is another purple that does not quite match the shoes. The last is the least busy and still does not match the purple shoes. I would like to see the three darker pieces all mix and matched. Such as a collar in one color with it’s trim in another. A waistband in one color and a bottom border in another. Maybe some matching tiny silk flowers at the waist? Because the shoes have white flowers rather than purple, they look right in style with the white background fabric. But, toning it down with another of the fabrics for contrast might work? It will be interesting to see how this turns out. The purples are a winner for sure. 🙂

The shoes are adorable!!! I really like the piece of fabric that looks like a field of violets. They are all pretty but when I think of a dress made from them, I lean toward that one with accents or embellshments. I leave that up to you.

All my dolls that have anything Valentinish are now dressed for the holiday. Didn’t take long because they are few. But I had several of the Ginny Doll Creations dresses for Valentine’s day and I found they also fit my Paola Reina Mini dolls. Dressing for Easter will take a little (lol) longer.

Beautiful weather here. Cool and sunny.

  8. I like the first print. I think you can embellish it easily since it’s not overpowering. It’s very sweet and feminine too. The shoes look great. You are becoming quite the cobbler!

  9. I like the first fabric best, but I agree with Linda. Maybe use two of the fabrics, one for the main dress and one for trim. And the shoes are beautiful!
