…but just between you and me, I think she has forgotten what happens next.. It will get listed, hopefully someone will buy it, then Lian will be asked to take it off, there will be tears, she’ll reluctantly relinquish it, hand over the candy and climb back onto the dolly shelf just wearing her undies, only to stand there until the next time she is picked! What a poor pitiful life my dolls have! :o( or maybe it’s not so bad… :o)
It was wonderful to hear from you, Anne, all the way from New Zealand, and I too, am glad you are okay… (except for that aching hip of yours…) Thanks for filling us in on what has been happening with you!
I also spoke with Dorothy and she is okay, but just busy and needing time off for a while… She said to tell the Sofa Sisters hello!
Well, the 35th Anniversary Celebration for our church has come and gone and it was very nice to see old friends and celebrate this milestone! I took just a couple pictures of the way things looked. This is where it all started… it used to be a Lutheran church and we held services in there for probably 10 years, then bought the Nazarene church across the street and remodeled it for where we meet now. The room with the tables in it, had the pews removed and we use this for our dinners and other things where space is needed. The food was downstairs and more tables down there.
I think it was Joy who asked if this dress might fit the Ruby Red Siblies… They are 12″ I think… I tried the dress on Sydney and it’s “kind of close” but not a good enough fit for me to say it would work. It would have to have the snaps moved over in the back and probably be hemmed. But here is a picture anyway…
Okay, so what’s new with Bunny in my Pocket and what makes it finished?
I made a slip for the dress, just one of my white tulle slips that slide up your dolls legs… a little purple organza ribbon rose was added…
The snaps are now sewn to the back of the dress…
…and I added little purple buttons…
I added one white button to the pocket…
The slips works perfectly at holding out the dress…
Lian said, “Let’s take a few more picture with Bunny in my pocket!”
Then she said, “Don’t forget, let’s show them the candy again…”
I pulled out one Easter prop and Lian sat Bunny on the top… :o)
I wish I had time to get this listed right now, but I absolutely have to finish my books for my business… we have an appointment with the Tax guy and I am still working on mine… eek!
Well, that’s it for this Monday post… hope you are ready to begin this new week…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
You must have had a good turnout for your anniversary dinner, judging by the number of tables/chairs (plus being more downstairs). I’m glad everything went well.
Good to hear that Dorothy is okay, too. I know I miss her presence on this list!
Lian’s ensemble turned out just beautifully, Jeanne. I think we have another winner here!
It certainly looked like you had a good turnout for the anniversary celebration, Jeanne! What a lovely building you have for dinners and gatherings such as this. Isn’t it good to relfect on the early times and see people again that you haven’t seen for awhile?
Well, Lian’s dress looks pretty good on Sydney. I think, but like you mentioned, the back doesn’t quite fit as it should. It is a bit long, but some people like the longer dressses.
Of course, Lian looks completely adorable in the completed outfit, pretty slip and all, to hold the dress out, which it does beautifully!
It was so good to hear from Anne, and I hope she gets her surgery lined up soon! We all miss Dorothy, and it was good to hear that she is just taking time off. However, may is ocming up and we should be hearing about that from Dorothy! 🙂
Another winner, Jeanne, Love Lian’s outfit! Just to think all that came from a tiny bunny eraser! Your talent inspires us, and has for years!
It is so nice to hear about your church, we hear so much about the number of church goers declining. I know that in our small town the numbers in our Episcopal Churches are not growing. We have two, with one priest. They are one block apart and share the parish house, Sunday School, and other groups. The smallest one was built for the freed slaves after the Civil War. The other was burned in the war and rebuilt. We have mixed race congregations, which people think is not possible in the South, but that is not the case. People who do not live here don’t realize what our black and white relationships are like, at least here in Georgia. There is a lot of love among us. I could tell you a lot of good stories.
As a fellow Episcopalian, I share your membership woes. Many did not return after COVID and most are not watching on Facebook Live. Some got out of the habit and others left for other churches. My son and daughter-in-law have left our church for a non-liturgical church nearer their home that has more for the older kids. Skyy is in middle school and Jaiden will be next year. There is nothing going on for that age at our church since many families did not come back or did and left. In our case the priest is the problem. His focus is in the wrong place. He came right before COVID so he got a pass for many months but when we opened fully we could see there was a problem but finding people to do the job is getting harder in the mainstream Episcopal Church. Too many decisions people are not comfortable with. We had a very active parish with our former priest. He was amazing. He also had young children and we had a wonderful Family Formation Coordinator so a very active Sunday School program. She and her family left the church after Vacation Bible School last summer. We had finally got our choir size where we could do special music. Five of us came back and now two have left permanently. We now have two “scholarship singers” (they get paid to sing) and the mother of one joins us. We too have a very diverse congregation. Our choir director is the head of music at TSU (still a primarily Black university) and our scholarship singers have been students of his. Our organist is a Middle Easterner and we have many in the congregation from Nigeria. I love all the people and it’s really great to have such a wonderful choir director but seeing the congregation diminish bit by bit is difficult to watch because so many of them have become friends since we’ve been there 13 years. During that time there has been several ebbs and flows and they have all been caused by a priest/Diocese problem.
I really hear you, Barbara. My Peyton and I are in the choir. There are 9 regular members, only 2 of us are not in their 80’s or 90’s! Our wonderful organist passed. We have a fabulous organ, but we do have a great pianist who moved into the county. Our late organist willed his beautiful grand piano to the church. The pianist has two young boys and our new priest has two boys ages 5 and 8. The 8 year old carries the cross, the smaller sized one. The priest’s wife has gotten together a small Sunday school so we are hoping things will get better. We just can’t get anyone else to come join our choir.
Good to hear from/about our missing sisters.
Your church has done well, and your anniversary set-up is distinguished and lovely. Lots of flags. What do they represent?
Lian looks lovely, and that was my favorite fabric from the new batch, so I’m nearly as happy with the new dress as she is. I like the way the flowers on her hat coordinate perfectly with the colors in her dress. This is another winner.
And now, who’s next?
Thanks Jeanne for showing Syd in the dress. Definitely too large on her, but I think that some things would work. 🙂 I hadn’t noticed that the bodice was lined with matching purple/white checks. What a great idea. It is as pretty inside as outside. 🙂
I had remarkable luck on Saturday with a UPS delivery of my latest Siblies Mackenzie and Ashley. I knew they were coming, but the follow the truck tracking wasn’t working, so I had no idea of the time frame. We carried on and were looking at a strange house for sale online. Other person in the office, and I was in the back room. After seeing a shower in the middle of a room of carpeting with hanging curtain around it, very 60’s, I was in talking with other person. We were laughing about that and all of the rest which included lots of rooms with step downs and lots of things that wouldn’t work for us. Anyway, I went back to my computer and boing! My mail said package delivered. What? When? I guess the truck had pulled up and the package left on the porch without us hearing a peep. Fortunately, we did not have the UPS person who rings the bell. So, I ventured back to the living room where I popped open the door and spied the double package standing on the mat. Other person, still in the office made for a perfect time to nab the package and carry it to the back. Last time I was caught when I put the package by the door while closing it. Leaving the door ajar to avoid noise and allowing eons of warm air to escape, I clomped across the house in my slippers with the package. Removing them, I tiptoed back and ever so quietly closed the door. Other person did not hear a thing. Lucky me. 🙂
And on to March this week. 🙂
Yay! You got them in undetected, Joy, and two of them at that.
Are you keeping my suggested tally marks for pass/ fail dolly capers? LOL I guess except for Amelie you are all caught up.
Pretty caught up except I do have Rita coming but not until April, I think. 🙂
Close call Joy! Enjoyed the outcome of this story! Silent waters … no shark!
Jeanne, what a nice and inviting room for the fellowship of your church. I’m sure everyone enjoyed the event.
Fortunately, Lian pretty much knows the drill. I’m sure she enjoyed modeling this outfit. Maybe she can hold the bunny toy for awhile.
Hope all are safe from the multitude of weather dilemmas. Thinking of those people in Oklahoma and nearby areas…and the NE states.
Thanks Paula. Love “Silent waters…no shark!” 🙂
So glad to hear our sofa sisters Anne and Dorothy are doing okay. With all the crazy weather everywhere it’s good to know friends and family are safe.
Lian’s outfit is so precious. I’m sure she appreciates whatever time she has to model an outfit. I do think I heard her say she’d really like it if the auctions took longer though. You verified what I told Joy about the difference in the Siblies and Little Darlings. I’ve made the same pattern (different sizes) for both so I could compare the exact pattern pieces. I notice that some of the pattern designers are creating patterns for two or three doll sizes with different cutting lines for each size. The nice thing is that when you download and print them, you can print the pattern pieces more than once and cut out the different sizes. When I’ve done people clothes, I usually fold over the pattern to the size I want and that can be time consuming.
Your church anniversary luncheon looked lovely. No pictures of the food? You always show pictures of the food so we can dine vicariously. The tables looked lovely. Hopefully you got to totally relax and enjoy yourself. A much needed respite.
I was wondering again if you might do a tutorial on making those slips. I’ve tried on my own to figure it out but seem to be all thumbs – or missing information to do them more easily. There is nothing on the internet for these kinds of slips.
Barbara, if you look underneath the small pictures on the right hand side of the blog, where she shows previous auctions, there is a place where you can search for previous posts. Just put “Slip Tutorial” in, and it will come up. Actually there is more than one, since Jeanne showed it in several steps, for several days.
Thanks, Linda. I did participate in a slip tutorial once but it was one where the tulle was attached to the elastic waist without the yoke. I don’t remember Jeanne doing one with the yoke. My slip ended up looking like a beautiful ballet skirt so I’m going to make a leotard to go with it. Was there one with the yoke? I may have missed it.
Sorry Linda, I did find the tutorial. Jeanne did it before I joined the blog. I printed it out so I’d have it. Thanks for your help.
So nice to hear from Anne and to know that Dorothy is well. I hope Anne is able to have her hip surgery soon. I miss Dorothy’s fun comments and it’s time to be counting down to the merry month of May. Cold and rainy here and expecting high winds.
Lian’s dress is so sweet. The hat is lovely and the tiny chocolate bunnies couldn’t be a more perfect choice of candy.
Forgot to comment on your church dinner, Jeanne. A lovely decorated room and I’m sure the celebration was enjoyed by everyone.
