How to put your dolls headband on so it looks the best!

DON’T FORGET: Ten Ping and Noel’s dress sets end this evening on Ebay… You can click on the pictures at the right side bar or you can click HERE and HERE to see them!

This could be very exciting! The response has been wonderful! :o) Thanks everyone!

You can probably guess from the title of my post today, that I decided to make Molly a hair bow. Yep… I did! But I wanted to show you how you can make your doll look her best wearing one…

For the hair bow, I just made a narrow band, and stitched the already made bow on one end, just slightly turned a bit sideways. I used snaps to fasten it up on the top of the head because it’s easier when there is a bow. The snap can be hidden.

There is nothing really wrong with letting your doll wear her hair bow like this…

… but there is a better way…

Put the headband around your doll’s neck (like in my picture) and then gather a section of her hair on each side… just a small section, maybe to her ears…pull that hair forward…

Then pull the bow up and snap the two ends…

Put your dolls hair back over her shoulder and it will look much better, especially from the front…

Now I’ll show you what else I worked on today…

I made a pair of white anklets and added a little bit of lace to them…

When Molly opened up the Dolly Toy Box, we both saw it at the same time…

This little guy… pink on the front side… and blue on the back… How perfect is that?

Now Molly wants to show you how she looks with it all pulled together…

Well, that’s another one done from me! I’ll try to get it listed ASAP!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Thanks for showing us a better way to put a hairband on our dolls. I have absolutely Zero talent when it comes to hair (God knew what He was doing when He gave us a boy! LOL) and the first time I took my Molly’s hair out of braids and went to redo them, it took me Three Tries to get the braids to come out anywhere close to even!! With Daniel (who turns 48 today–how did That happen?!), it was a matter of getting the sides/back trimmed close, and just wetting the comb and slicking the hair down over the top of his head–or better yet, getting it All cut off short (a “butch”) and not having to comb it at all!!

I really love her ankle socks–they look so dainty and feminine with her pretty pink shoes! And the bunny is perfect with her dress.

    1. HI Charlotte,
I decided to put that information about the hairband, in the actual listing for Molly’s dress, which just went on Ebay this evening. Maybe it will help more than just you, who say you have no beauty salon skills. I’m sure you really do… but you are being shy! (Happy birthday to Daniel too!) What a great mom he has! :o)
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Molly looks just plain adorable in her new outfit, and the hairbow/headband is perfect for her, Jeanne! Those anklets are just he thing to top off the 40’s vibe! The cape is perfect for those chilly mornings or evenings, but I just stopped scrolling down for a minute to look at Molly in that dress alone! What a perfect dress for going to a spring concert, as well as an Easter dress! That pink bunny is the perfect Easter accessory!

You are really on a roll this year! Good things will be happening tonight, I promise!

    1. Thank you Linda,
I know Molly is your favorite, so I love that you love her outfit! I like the dress by itself too, and “almost” used a picture of her in the dress alone for my Gallery picture when I listed it on Ebay… (just a few minutes ago!) But decided the bright blue capelet was probably more eye catching!
Well, the listings are done but now I have Molly’s up, so let’s see if I can keep going! I like it when things “roll!”
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I really love this whole look, and it is perfect for an Easter outfit, plus the Year of the Rabbit, so we will probably see lots of rabbits this year! I really like the idea of the snap on the headband because sometimes it’s hard to get a headband on a doll with lots of hair.

    1. Another beautiful Jeanne creation. How do you choose your fabric? This time maybe to match the capelet? If anything would make me like anklets those sure do it…and Mr. Bunny is adorable. Good luck with the auction!

      1. HI Kathie,
Well, most of the time I start fresh with the fabric as my first choice in making the outfit, but I wanted to use up that pretty blue capelet for something, so I held it up to my fabrics on my shelf and that blue and pink just seemed like the perfect choice.
Thanks Kathie… I just listed it on Ebay… wow…that one came together pretty quickly!
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Thank you Terri,
Molly’s dress certainly screams Easter to me too… I hope lots of ladies want it for their Molly dolls. I just listed it on Ebay… so let the bidding begin!
Glad you liked the headband too… it’s a simple thing to do to make it easier to fasten on the dolls head.
      Thanks Terri,
      Blessings, Jeanne

I definitely like Molly’s hairbow further back on the head. The girls here always wear them behind their ears, but your way of putting some hair in front works as well. 🙂 I really like the lace on the socks. Adds a sweet touch.
Hard to believe that Valentine’s Day is next week. And on to St. Patrick’s Day. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
Rebecca called last night and talked for an hour and a half… I was telling her I missed out on the whole Valentine’s Day holiday this year… too many things going on in late November and all of December and then January was catch-up month… so my pink and red fabrics will have to wait till next year. boohoo… I bought 2 new ones that I wanted to use so much! Oh well…
St. Patrick’s Day… maybe I can do that… alternate St. Patrick’s Day and Easter dresses…
I managed to get Molly’s dress listed on Ebay! Yay for me!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. This is absolutely adorable- for spring or Easter! So sweet and feminine. Love the socks, hair bow and the bunny. Perfect accessories!
Jeanne, you are on a roll!

    1. Thank you Paula,
I’m hoping the “roll” continues for me… I like it when I can get several things done in a row… I just listed Molly’s dress on Ebay a few minutes ago and I’m already thinking of who to make something for next!
Thank you for your kind compliments on Molly’s dress set.
      Blessings, Jeanne

This outfit is the sweetest. Looks great with or without the cape. The socks are perfect and look very nice with the dress. I love the adorable bunny. So cute and a perfect complement to the outfit.

I have no imagination when it comes to hair, doll or otherwise, so I’m always glad for pointers. Since I’m not much into making hats, most of my girls wear headbands of one sort or the other. I bought some blank headbands in different sizes and enjoy embellishing them to match outfits in lieu of hats.

Well I did it again. I couldn’t resist Mini Sara (her name will be Stevie Pillar) and she will be on her way in a few months, and yesterday I got the notice that L’il Dreamer Alora was available for preordering so I couldn’t resist. I love the L’il Dreamer dolls and Alora is the last of the series. She will arrive about the same time as Mini Sara/Stevie. I wanted Mini Sara to have a name beginning with “S” and thought of a cute little girl at church. Her name is Stevie. I was surprised to find out that Stevie has become a fairly common name for little girls. I had never heard it before and thought it might have been after her dad, but it’s evidently a name unto itself. I’m now in a state of anxious anticipation and will be for another two plus months. Do we really do this to ourselves on purpose?

    1. Thank you Barbara, for your very kind words on Molly’s new Easter set. I just listed it on Ebay, so I’m ready for the next doll…

Congratulations on buying a Mini Sara… you will love her body… I love how articulated Ten Ping is… I should show her naked so everyone can see how bendable she is. AND congrats on buying little Alora. I just saw her on Facebook today and she made me stop and take a second glance… I know you will have fun with both of them…

Anxious Anticipation… yep, that’s what we do to ourselves because of our dolly habits!
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

On Noel’s outfit, I really thought it looked better on a dark-haired doll, but the picture at the top of the page is so pretty — Noel’s hair appears to have a touch of pink — everything harmonizes. I may have been wrong about dark hair being better. Whoever gets this will love it.

I liked Molly’s cape on Felicity, but it’s maybe even nicer with Molly’s dress. Linda’s right that the dress by itself is lovely and perfect for a spring concert.. You are on a roll, and not just this year.

It’s true that St. Patrick’s Day will be here in minutes. One of my Nellie’s favorite outfits includes a green jumper with a wide gored skirt — remember that one?

I have a new AG. She’s an Evette whose hair was ruined, so I got her for half price and a friend added a wavy black wig. She’s quite beautiful in her new lavender sweater. I’m starting to like the new eyelashes.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I think if I had a different dark wig, I might like it on her better, but this is mohair wig that I’ve had in braids for probably 2 years, so it’s just kind of stringy on the ends… that may have been the issue with me… although I am very fond of Noel in the blonde wig… her skin is so fair, it just seems like she’s a little Swedish or Norway beauty!

I’m glad I found something to go with the blue in the capelet… It’s a slightly different color of blue, so not very many blues in my fabric stash worked… fortunately I had just barely enough to make Molly’s dress.

Yes, I do remember that green gored skirt… will Nellie be getting dressed in it soon?

I remember looking at the Evette dolls, but at the moment I have forgotten what she looked like. I’ll have to take a look and see her again. Congrats on your new girl!
      Blessings, Jeanne
