I was working on a purse and shoes for Ten Ping today…

We are in the middle of a deep freeze right now… it sleeted for several hours Monday and now we have sheets of sleet! My hubby says I’m not going anywhere. It’s 19 degrees and it feels like 7! BBBRRR!!! Guess I’ll have to stay busy in my sewing room… Which is what I did today, although when you see what I got accomplished, you’ll wonder what I was doing in there.

It take TIME to be creative… :o)

I’m not the ONLY one who likes to be creative… I received an email from Terri and look at HER Easter purses… This is what she told me about them…

Hi Jeanne,
Here is a picture of the Easter egg purses I did a couple years ago as a project for my doll club. We werenโ€™t having in person meetings so I mailed everyone the pattern, felt and trim for them to create their own. These were my samples.
Terri Sansoucy (in AZ)

Thanks Terri! Your purses are adorable! I bet you had lots of fun with those!

I wanted to make Ten Ping a new pair of shoes to go with her dress set, because I have NOTHING for her to wear with this if I don’t.

Her foot is so tiny, (about 3/4-1″ long) that using the leather I have is just too thick for shoes. BUT… I have some Ultrasuede that Kathie sent me, and I had a wonderful complimentary color of lavender. (I know some of you think this is a pink fabric with white bunnies on it, but it’s really not.) I looked for ANY pink in my fabric stash that would go with it, and I had NOTHING… the only thing is this piece of felt I made her jacket out of, and then today, I found the Ultrasuede. It’s the only thing that will work, and it does work very well… you just can’t see it in person, I like I can…

So with that said, let me show you her shoes… I made a pair before these, but they were kind of blah… just lavender slip ons…
So I came up with a different style… a front toe section and then a heel section… They aren’t decorated with anything yet, but the shoe part is done… They are a SNUG fit, and I’m going to have to put those little pull tabs at the back of the heels to help the winner get them on, but they fit very nicely once you get them up over her heel.

I tried several different ideas for her purse… I wanted a “bunny” purse, and I wanted just the head, so I tried a few in a furry fabric, but it was too hard to see the eyes, I tried, wool felt, but didn’t want to hand embroider the face on it and I would have had to, so I just cut out a circle of the white Ultrasuede I had, and started with that. It took me several tries to get it the right size… and I decided this size was okay for her.

I drew the eyes and nose on with a fine point permanent marker. Then I added some bunny ears and decorated it a bit. It’s not “exactly” a purse…it’s just flat, but it “looks” like a purse…

I added a thin white ribbon for the shoulder strap and stitched in on the back on one side… and added a snap on the back of the other side, and a snap on the end of the ribbon. This way, you can just snap it in place instead of having to put it on over her head or have her step into the strap… much easier…

Oh, and look what I put on the bottom of her shoes… the bunnies were a perfect size to fit on the soles of her shoes. :o)

Ten Ping is thinking SHE has a Bunny FooFoo too… it’s just a purse though.

Well, bit by bit, this dress set is coming along…

I will see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Thank you, Terri, for sharing your picture of the little Easter egg purses you designed for your doll club! What a fun project that must have been, and I’m sure everyone had a dolly who was delighted to have such a special purse.

Jeanne, this outfit is coming along beautifully, and in some of your pictures I can really see the lavender tint of the bunny print. I think it’s one of those things where it depends on the light and shadow when you take a particular picture, as well as how one’s monitor shows the colors. But definitely more lavender than pink.

The new little shoes are just darling; any wee girl would love to have a pair just like them!! And the bunny purse is just as cute as it can be!! I think I might shorten the strap just a little bit, though–it seems to hang a little lower than most of us wear our purses. That my be personal preference on my part, though.

My first Leeann doll (Games Dolls Play) came today–I ordered her about 3 weeks ago. The other two are ones I just ordered Sat., so I won’t see them for a while.

We sure can’t seem to shake off this awful cold, icy weather does it? We can only hope it warms up a bit, as it is now 14 degrees as I write this! Probaby feels colder too! And now I have the sniffles to go along with all that fun!

Well, Terri, your little egg purses sure must have made some dollies very happy! So cute and colorful too! I’m sure they were the highlight of their Easter outfits! Thank you for sending the pictures to Jeanne, and I think maybe a few of us might have gotten an idea or two to make them!

Ten Ping’s outfit is just perfevt, Jeanne! I don’t think any lace is needed by the time she has something on her shoes, and maybe buttons on the jacket. That purse is the highlight of the outfit! I can see both pink and lavender colors, and what does it matter, since they go so well together anyway?

By the way, I am getting your blog in my email, so no problems with that.

  3. Thank you, Jeanne, for posting my Easter egg purse picture, it sure made me happy this morning! And thank you Charlotte and Linda, for your kind comments! It was a challenge to come up with ideas to share with my doll club during shutdown. We have some very creative members in our club and we sent out the projects by mail and then shared them on our Zoom meetings.
Jeanne, I love the little shoes and bunny purse for Ten Ping, and was especially impressed by your snapping the purse handle onto the back! What a great idea!

    1. Hi Terri, what adorable little egg purses you made. How very creative. The decorations on each purse are so cute. Iโ€™m sure many little Dollies wanted them. Thank you and Jeanne for sharing.

    2. Jeanne, this outfit is absolutely adorable. The dress and jacket turned out perfect. Those shoes are fantastic! And what a surprise to see the bottom of the shoes- more bunnies!
I think the material you used is a great way to make other shoes for the bigger dolls too. They look like dressy tennis shoes or soft shoes verses leather looking shoes.
And her adorable little bunny face purse. It is really a sweet touch to her outfit.
For those with Ten Ping dolls, this ensemble will be irresistible!

Terri’s little egg Easter purses are a sweet spark. I’m sure they were fun to make during the shut down. Having a project with a deadline works so well for me. ๐Ÿ™‚ One of the dollies here just took a peek and is now demanding one as well. Sure hope the word doesn’t spread around the group, or I’ll be buying out Joann’s felt collection. ๐Ÿ™‚
Sorry about the sleet. Does not sound like fun, and definitely is not something to venture out in and try to drive without chains. Here, we have black ice occasionally which always causes accidents. If we had any standing water, which we don’t, there would be black ice today as it was still 29 a bit ago before the sun started peeking out over the mountains. Sorry about the 19. Now, that is chilly. ๐Ÿ™‚
Ten’s little bunny purse is cute. I’m sure it will be a great place to stash some Easter candy. ๐Ÿ™‚
    Stay warm everyone. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Thank Terri for sharing you cute Easter egg purses for dolls, they are beautiful and inspiring. I know your doll club members enjoyed making them. I think my little dolls would like me to make a few purses for them. Thanks again Terri.

Jeanne, your dolly outfit is awesome. The tiny shoes are so well made and the bunny purse highlights the whole outfit. Ten Ping looks so cute.

Linda, I hope you get well soon.

    Have a wonderful day.

  6. It’s bitterly cold here. It claims to be 19 but even with the sun shining brightly doesn’t feel anywhere close.
What super cute purses, Terri. Thank you for sharing them.
Ten Ping’s shoes look so nice with the scalloped edge and bunnies bunnies everywhere. The purse is so sweet and love the bunnies on the shoe soles.
Bunnies were my animal collection as a child. And one of my favorite children’s book sets when I was very young had a rabbit as the main character.

    1. Oh, forgot to add that I received both blogs today. The Jeanne in my promo and the Idream… in my Inbox so whatever mishap the past two days has righted itself.

Now Ten Ping’s dress does look like a light lavender. The shoes and jacket go perfectly with the dress and the bunny purse couldn’t be cuter. I thought you had embroidered the face. The scallops on the shoes go great with the scallops on the jacket. I love the picot stitch and use it often. I agree that no lace is needed. The outfit is perfect as it is.

I have been having no trouble getting your blog.

My creative endeavor this weekend was making a doll dress for Jaiden’s doll that her mom rescued from the trash. The doll is cute as can be but I’m not sure what to call her. She is one of the dolls that has a square stuffed body and legs and arms but no defined hands or feet. Judging from the “headdress” sewn into her head, she looks like she might have been wearing African cultural attire when she was new but was wearing nothing when Dionne found her. Jaiden handed her to me a few weeks ago and told me she needed clothes. I made her a cute, simple dress out of the fabric I used for Jaiden’s Christmas dress. Instead of inserting elastic in the sleeves, I used some decorative red elastic stitched onto the sleeve and it looks like she has lace cuffs. I put my dolly girls in charge of finding her something for her feet. My Paola Reina girls, Cleo and Liu, found her a pair of nice socks that fit well and my H4H girls found her a pair of panties from their clothes box. The panties had to be not too big but very stretchy because she has no real shape in that area. But she had to have something.

Speaking of African attire, we have several people from Nigeria who attend our church. The one woman orders her dresses from Nigeria and they are stunning. She told me something that was very interesting. She said in Nigeria the women dress for church wearing the seasonal colors of the altar hangings. Sure wish I could see a picture, especially if all the ensembles are as beautiful as my friend’s.

Cold here too. Evidently there is ice in places in Texas but so far so good here. We’ve had some rain but thankfully no freezing.

    1. Awesome bunnies Terri Iโ€™m sure your club loved them!
Great use of the ultra suede Jeanne๐Ÿ˜‰the style and finish are perfect. Fun to see this one come together.Bunnies are always happy.

  8. Oh my gosh, thank you everyone for all your nice comments on my Easter egg purses! It was probably one of the first times I just thought of something on my own, ha ha!
