I call it The Perfect Christmas Dress, because in the 1940’s, it probably would have been…(minus that extra full skirt!) I took some new pictures and it’s ready for you to show all your Molly dolls just how sweet they would look in it, if only their mommie’s would buy it for them… :o) I did decide to pass on the velvet vest and I’ll use that velvet for something else in the future.
No pressure, but if you’d like to see it on Ebay, you can click on the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE.
Here are a few new pictures you haven’t seen…
…and one more…
The birthday party was a HUGE success… I’m not sure how many actually came but we had close to 200 people I think and some even came from other countries… one girl came all the way from Tokyo…
It was a great honoring of our previous pastor who turned 70! He was quite overwhelmed and had LOTS of surprise visitors to chat with.
They even had another time of getting together Sunday night, with lots who were staying until tomorrow. My hubby and I didn’t make it… we were pooped. There was lots to be done with the food for this event… and lots of people brought things, but I was the one in charge of getting it in a warming oven, or a cooler and making lots of split second decisions… I’m not sure I’d make it in a kitchen with Chef Ramsey! I’d probably fall apart or walk out…
We had one BIG mixup… someone offered to pick up the 35 pounds of BBQ pulled pork and 3 gallons of baked beans… When they brought it into the kitchen, I took the foil off one of the big pans and the pork was ice cold and hard as a rock! WHAT? WHAT? Yep… it was quite a moment!!! There was no stove or oven in this kitchen, just some warming units and a small microwave. We started breaking off pieces of the meat with some metal tongs we had and putting small amounts of the meat in bowls and into the microwave, 3 minutes at a time… then we’d dump that meat into a bigger foil pan that we had in the warming units… We cranked the warmers up to 180 degrees and hoped it would get hot…Mostly we prayed the microwave wouldn’t go kaput! It didn’t and an hour later we had all the meat in the warmers and all seemed like it was okay…
In between all this people were bringing in desserts and huge containers of mashed potatoes and lots of salads… It was pretty chaotic in the kitchen, but I tried not to get stressed. (after the meat issue, that is!) We managed to get it all on the tables, everyone seemed to have a wonderful time and we got the kitchen cleaned up with a few helpers who stayed to help… we were on our way home a little after 10:00. But first we had to take all the leftovers to our church kitchen to be used for the group of people staying for the get together Sunday afternoon. I had come in the morning at 9:00 to start some prep stuff for a chocolate fountain; cutting up pound cake, washing apples to cut up, helping with getting some centerpieces made, etc… Then I went home for about an hour to celebrate Kristoffer’s birthday… My baby turned 35 Saturday! Then I came back to the Community Center and stayed until the festivities were over.
I don’t know what time we got home… but when I pulled the covers up and turned out the lights, it was 12:15! What a day!
Needless to say, I was tired, and tonight I’m going to bed early… but it was a success and everyone had fun…that’s what matters!
Next on my agenda is the Hayride…this coming Saturday… Things sure seem like they come in waves, but I’m only doing caramel apples for this event… I’ve already got my goodies and only need to buy apples… This will be a piece of cake! :o)
I will see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
This is, indeed, the PERFECT Christmas outfit!! I just love every single thing about it. My Molly is dropping not-so-subtle hints that it would be just perfect for her!! After all, red is her favorite color!! (And of course, she doesn’t have Nearly enough clothes!! 🙄 After 15 years of my shopping and sewing for her….)
My goodness, you did have a busy day, and what a shock, to find that meat still frozen!! Good save, though.
I can tell you, your former pastor was, I’m sure, delighted to see everyone and to know he was thought of so fondly by his former parishioners. As a pastor’s daughter myself, I can tell you it meant so very much to my parents (daddy, especially) when they were remembered in various ways, even years later.
Happy birthday to Kristoffer! I’m glad that you got to spend at least a little time with him!! (My baby will be 48 in Feb.!!)
Molly looks so pretty and full of anticipation of what Santa might be leaving her! (Little does she know!) Everything worked out perfectly and came together so quickly because THIS is exactly what Molly would be picking out for herself!
My goodness, what a day you had, Jeanne! Having the meat delivered frozen and no oven would have done me in! Naturally, you did your magic, and things turned out perfectly! Something to add to your list of “can do’s”! It sounds like there was a lot of love and respect for your former pastor, and he certainly must have been surprised to see just how much he meant to all of you.
Happy birthday, Kristoffer! Wish I was 35 again, but then my baby just turned 51, so that wouldn’t work out so well! 🙂
Where did the time go?
Well, Chef Jeanne, sounds like you had an interesting weekend. Wow, what an amazing feat you “pulled” off. 🙂 Glad the event turned out as planned.
And getting that sweet outfit listed as well. Hope you stay healthy and can get some needed rest. Oh, and a happy birthday to Kristoffer!
We spent some more time at Home Depot returning the first roof sealant we bought and reading labels until we finally found what we wanted. Oh so fun. 🙁 Now, the next step is getting the sticky stuff under the edges of the roofing with the caulking gun without it going where it is not intended. Maybe today after it warms up.
On another note, I did find some really cute cat buttons that will go on one of the dresses for the RRFF kids that I’ve been working on for what seems like forever.
Hope the dollies learn to dress themselves soon. 🙂
Really is the perfect Christmas outfit. I love that separate pieces also makes it so versatile. A creative fashionista dolly may have a gold sweater or red pants . . . So many options available! So smart. Haven’t you ever had a dress and wished you could use the skirt part or blouse top or an attached vest front with something else? Love it.
I don’t have Molly but if I did I would want her to have this dress for the holidays. I remember dressing my daughter in Christmas dresses in the 80’s that were similar. This is a dress for all generations – well done Jeanne!
I am so glad you were able to rescue the frozen meat for your pastor’s birthday party. I was hyperventilating just reading about the preparations but you pulled it off, as usual. You are really a problem solver in your sewing room or a party for 200! I can’t believe you are going to do it all again this weekend… Happy Autumn!
Happy Birthday Kristoffer! Thirty five sounds great.
Wonderful job on the dress and on the party! That frozen meat would have had steam coming out my ears. Holy moly …at least you must have had enough time to rescue it via the microwave. I’m sure all the side dishes helped. Awesome job getting it all together in time. That was a lot of people to feed even with helpers.
The perfect Christmas dress is certainly that…just perfect. Molly is so pretty in it.
Is another Christmas dress already happening in your designing brain ? 🥰🤗
Molly’s dress is beautiful and such a treat with all those accessories!
You have certainly been busy. It’s amazing how much you accomplish for family and friends. What a great turn out on the meat!! That was a lot of work. They are all blessed to have you and George. Such kind and giving hearts you both have.
Happy birthday to Kris also. I know what it means to reflect on their babyhood and how fast our children grow up. I’m sure many moms on your post feel the same way.
LOVE this outfit. If not THE same plaid fabric, I have a similar one in my stash – somewhere. I’m sure you’ll do very well with this sale.
Oh wow! Happy Birthday to Kristoffer! Is he younger than your daughter? (I thought SHE was your baby) Anyway we also celebrated my daughter’s 35th birthday yesterday – we actually had to delay it, because of a sick (her’s) grandchild
Well, Rebecca is the actual baby of the two, but I still call Kristoffer my baby! AND… I call my hubby my baby too!! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
I wanted to thank everyone again for the sweet comments on my photos Saturday. Thank you also Debbie and Dorothy in PA. You commented after I was on to other things for the day and didn’t get a chance to check again.
I’m glad the birthday party was a success despite the bit of tension with the food.
Molly’s dress is very sweet and being all separate pieces has lot of fun designing options. So glad you already starting on Christmas dresses. Hopefully, the other AG historical eras and each type of doll will get a turn.
Got interrupted earlier and I’m finally getting back. I hope Kristoffer had a wonderful birthday.
Oh Jeanne, thankyou for all you accomplished for that party! May the Lord pay it all back to you in buckets!
Hi Joy,
I’m so sorry you weren’t able to make it… I heard why you weren’t there, and haven’t heard anything about your brother… I was praying for you…
Love you, Jeanne
