I barely made it getting my listing on Ebay again. They have changed things up again and it drove me crazy. UGH!!! I was already pushing it to get it listed around 8:30 to 9:00 pm, but ended up getting it finally published at 9:12 I think. It ends Tuesday evening! Whew! My poor hubby said, “I guess it’s a “helpie-selfie” dinner night?” I said, “Yep, it is!” :o(
Linda asked how I made the pencils… I used mini bamboo skewers and cut them to about 1 1/2″ long. Then I colored the pointed end with a black sharpie marker… and colored the eraser part with a pink sharpie. I had some sticky tape that looked like a measuring tape… so I wrapped it around the pencil. Viola… a pencil or two!
Joy asked about the books… I went to my computer, Googled images of children’s school books… I found a science one, a math one and a spelling one… saved their images, reduced them to wallet size, then turned my printer from black ink to colored ink and reduced them to 80%. Printed them off on regular printer paper… glued them to a piece of cardboard, cut them out the size of the books and covered them with my clear shipping tape… and folded the excess to the backside. I did the same with the ruler… laid my sticky tape on a piece of cardboard and wrapped it around to the other side. Then I covered it with my clear shipping tape. Perfect and cheap school supplies!
I changed the headband to a smaller bow and it does look much better now… but I was scrambling trying to get some new pictures of her with the new “non-helicopter” headband taken, and missed taking a new shot of her sitting at the table with her school supplies spread out… so I just used that old headband in the listing that one time.
If you’d like to see the new listing on Ebay, you can click the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE.
Here are a few new pictures… I forgot to get a new one with the chalkboard, but I ran out of time… rats!
It’s 10:05 and I need some dinner! So I’m calling it quits for now…
Hope you’ll check it out on Ebay…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, brother…that eBay!! Reminds me of the saying, Just when you’re about to make ends meet, somebody moves the ends! With eBay it seems like just when you get really familiar with how to post an entry, etc., they change the rules!
Rozen’s outfit looks wonderful, and I do like the smaller bow on her headband. Thank you for sharing with us how to make the school supplies. I imagine one could use washi tape to cover the pencils, too–or even just “paint” them with a different color marker. I have a feeling some girls around here are going to think They need some of those fancy pencils now!!
I am busily gathering things for my part of the “4H alumni” display in our 4H sewing barn; we have very few kids this year, and Lots of display cases, so the supt. thought it would be fun if some of us judges who were once in 4H could share some of what we do. I will try to get some pictures once things are set up, and send them to Jeanne; also pictures of my entries in Open Class. I’m starting to wonder how my entries did!
Tomorrow will be super busy and include church cleaning and piano practice, and then Sat. I’m out at the fairgrounds. August is definitely my busy month!!
Hi Charlotte,
I was scrambling so quickly to get the romper listed, I didn’t have time to take any notes, so the next time I do it, I’ll have to learn it all over again!! Ugh!
The pencils AND the books are fun to make… hope you give them a try!
I was in 4H for quite a few years…but mostly loved the sewing part of it. I did learn how to bake breads and make cookies and how to set a table… and I was in Share the Fun too. Our club would probably be banned today… we were called the Boskeydell Hustlers and had a FABULOUS leader… Rose Lipe… she was as country as you could get, but loved her girls and wanted us all to succeed!
We put together a cookbook and I still use it!
Thanks for the memories!
Blessings, Jeanne
This set certainly is an A+ as far as I am concerned, Jeanne! I think a lot of others will think the same, and Rozen’s time with it will not be too long! I also like the new shorter ends of the headband which makes it just perfect now!
Thank you for the “tutorial” on how to make those pencils and books! That will come in handy for many of us who like to have those little special touches to our dolls outfits. It’s more fun when you have something to display than just dolls in dresses.
We have out of town company today, and just got a new stove put in yesterday. I’m trying to figure out how to bake anything, since there are so many different steps and features! A manual just tells you what is what, and no way to go about it. Hope I have it figured out by Thanksgiving when we have company!!
Looking forward to your pictures Charlotte! I was also a 4-H member, and later on a judge. It’s always a fun thing to look forward to, and hoping you see a blue ribbon right by your creation!!
By the way, dorothy, I did see your comment to me about the UFDC convention yesterday! Thank you!
Dear Linda, you are welcome. Enjoy your company!
Thanks for your compliments on Rozen’s new romper, Linda.. I like her head band much better with the shorter ends on it too. So far I’ve had a huge number of people view it and quite a few people are watching it so who knows what might happen in the end..
Hope you make some pencils and books too! They are fun!!
Another 4H member… I was just telling Charlotte about our club!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, you made it! The photos look lovely. I like how you have posed her.
This is one of my favorite outfits. I am sorry that I don’t have this size doll.
HI Dorothy,
Well, not everyone can have every doll, but I’ll get around to making something for someone you do have… I’m starting something new for someone tonight! :o)
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh yes, Rozen is just spiffy with the reduced headband bow which highlights her beautiful hair and delightful new outfit. She will receive the best dressed award from her peers. 🙂
Had a kind of a surreal delivery yesterday. Francesca, was incoming and on the truck, so I tuned into UPS Follow the Truck, and there was the truck headed our way. Yay. However, after several stops and turns, the truck was on a different route. All over the place and no idea when it would come closer or which direction. So, I decided to take a chance and head up to the other house to do some quick watering and play with the neighborhood cat, Coco. Upon our return, the truck was in a new location and again, not that close even though I had received a notice that “the truck was nearby.” Checking the time, it was after 4:00 and the time frame was by 4:15. Now, I’m beginning to think that I’ve been following the wrong truck, but it is the only one available to me. Did a few things and checked again. The truck was at the bottom of the hill. Oh my! Went into the living room and other person had just plopped down on the couch. Urged him to go out and set up the yellow jacket trap, we’ve been getting a lot lately. Nope. In desperation, I turned on the tv news at other person’s volume. Ouch! Continued talking about what we needed at the store and various other things. Then, other person headed into the bedroom. I happened to glance out the kitchen window, and there was the truck, but heading back up the hill on the other side of the street. What? How can this be. I’ll have to head back to the computer and see where it is headed now. Just happened to open the front door, and there on the mat was a package. How did it get there? When did the truck arrive? Why didn’t I hear anything? Some magical fairy must have flown the package from the truck up the steps to our front door. Maybe it was a drone? I don’t know. But, there it was, so I quickly nabbed it and deposited it inside by the front door behind another box. No telling when other person would arrive back from the other end of the house. Phew! Thinking. How did this happen? Could it have been that tv loudness drowning out noise from the real world? He’s back! Other person picked up the yellow jacket trap and headed into the office to get it open and ready to take to the backyard. Soon, a moment arrived to remove the parcel as the trap and operator went out the slider and down the steps towards the garden. I grabbed the box. Now, Francesca, is residing in that secret place in the family room still awaiting a few moments of alone time so her mom can open her box. Maybe Frannie can explain her secret arrival upon her opening. 🙂
Thanks Joy,
Another dolly caper for us to enjoy! I’ve read it once and now I’m going to read it again… The good thing is, Francesca arrived!!!
Those yellow jackets are nasty around here too… George got stung on his leg and on his ankle the other day! We have a pear tree and they are flocking to the fruit that falls off and hits the ground and rots.
Happy opening her box… I’m sure she has been set free by now…
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Joy, thanks for sharing. I think you could easily ace Spy School (smile). I love that you have already given her a nickname. I can’t wait to see a photo of her.
I read the blog and all the comments yesterday but never got around to commenting. I spent most of the day trying to find two patterns I wanted to use for back-to-school. I’m going more casual this year for the girls’ wearing attire. My daughter-in-law’s niece started school a week ago and when I saw the pictures I nearly fell over. She had no knees in her jeans. For the first day of school my cousin’s girls (middle and high school) look like they’ve been mucking out the barn. Last year it was blue jean shortalls that looked like they came out of the rag bag and on their feet they wore flip flops. I remember getting a nice new dress and shoes for the first day even when my parents had little money. I never thought of wearing something old on the first day. But by today’s standards, maybe all those clothes I mentioned were new.
My girls will not have clothes with holes, etc., but they will be dressed more casually than usual. Our middle school here used to have standardized dress but they gave up on that. Not sure why because my kids were out of school when they started that. When my daughter was in high school they couldn’t even wear shorts to start school and it’s really hot here still. They did allow shorts for awhile but they had to be more like walking shorts. I’m sure too many went the short shorts route and so the school finally said no more. Only elementary kids were allowed to wear shorts. My girls are going to be allowed shorts this year.
I spent the day searching for a jumper pattern I bought but evidently forgot to print out. That one was easily solved, but the search for the shortall pattern not so much. I had made it once so I knew I had it somewhere so I spent the day searching everywhere in my sewing room, then going through my Etsy purchases and Pixie Faire. Nowhere to be found. Then late last evening it hit me. It was a pattern I had purchased that came in the mail and then I knew exactly where it was. But I had wasted a whole day looking when in fact I had seen it several times but it wasn’t registering because I was sure it was one I downloaded.
Yesterday people commented on the ages of their dolls. I think my dolls are older than most. My Little Darlings, Mini Marus and Paola Reinas were in 6th grade last year so they are going into 7th. That works for now but I’m not sure where we go from here since they don’t look like anything past middle school. I wanted them to have more than an elementary school experience, like having school dances and things like a dressy Spring Fling. Greer Adele was actually the Spring Fling Princess (pictures coming). In my very fertile imagination the 6th graders have their own social events but the 7th and 8th are combined. I think that comes from the fact that when I went to school 6th grade was still elementary, so I think of 6th graders as too young to associate with the older kids. Reminds me of a funny situation with David’s sister when they were small. They had some kind of school function when his sister was in fourth grade. Their dad suggested Wanda might want to go sit with her friends. She gave her dad a really caustic look and said, “Daddy, those are second graders”. My L’il Dreamer Evianna is going into 5th grade this year. She is two years behind her sister Amelia Dawn (who is an imaginary doll at the moment since she is not due for a few weeks yet).
It’s raining here today so the guys can’t work on the addition since it is not roofed yet, so they are putting together some patio furniture we bought for David’s new grilling porch. When it arrived we thought there must be more than one box. The order was for two chairs and a side table. Well it turned out to be only one box and as soon as I’m finished here I’m going to go find out how they got two chairs, a table and four chair cushions in that one not very big box.
HI Barbara,
Speaking of patterns, did you see PixieFaire’s new deal today… buy $10 worth of patterns from their site and get the new Keepers Dolly Dud’s dirndl pattern free! I found myself looking at patterns and did find a couple I wanted… :o)
We didn’t wear clothes with holes in them either… glad it wasn’t the norm when I was in school… I wasn’t that kind of dresser…
I think, depending on the outfits, my RRFF “could” be 6th or 7th graders… It’s funny how we all think of the ages our dolls are… We must be crazy… yep, crazy for our girls! :o) Glad to be a little bit crazy!
Blessings, Jeanne
